Sun was slowly setting in Kaifong, as the waves clashed across the coast, peacefully retreating after each of them has been broken. In this Asian nation everything seemed so peaceful, everything was so calm... But Atlas was within 5000km range of Kaifong, and this made this place a giant barracks. Since SACTO-IFC war begun, Kaifong was on the alert, with it's massive navy preparing itself for - according to strategic plans of SACTO - to attack Estenia. That is what official plans were circulated, because only few people in high command knew that Carloso will be the target. After all, they instigated the war, they made all other IFC nations join the fight against SACTO - and now, they are gonna pay for it. Regent Rai Tien Tao exactly knew what to do. This war had to be won quickly, and it will be won quickly. Kaifongese navy was massive, big enough to attack Carloso. Soon, they were going to learn how painful it is to fight against nation which is morally right. Their end was coming and the fight was going to be brought into their land. That exactly were thoughts of Admiral Rai Tien Tao - who was also regent of Kaifong - as he walked across old corridors of Imperial Palace. The ancient walls remembered when Kaifong declared independence from Quing Dynasty, and how it repelled their invasion very soon. He walked, passing through the guards in ceremonial uniforms who were standing here just for ceremonial reasons. Then he turned left and entered the big room, which was guarded by modern-looking soldiers in black uniforms. The doors closed behind him. Inside were two men; one shorter, looking exactly as Rai; he was his brother, Rai Jing Tao. Second one had visible European features - it was Gen. Francisco Salazar de San Martin, who was in command of local Cuscatlani contingent. When he entered, they bowed, and then Jingtao spoke:

"Technicians cleared the room" he said with quiet tone "Everything is ready Sir!"

"Commence Operation Hidden Dagger" said with proud tone Tien Tao "We shall now discuss details"

The discussion took two hours, during which whole plan was prepared. They all knew that massive disinfo campaign has been started that SACTO intends to attack Estenia.... But Carloso was the real Target. The operation begun.

At first, nothing indicated what was coming. But far in the heavens, in the sky itself, Cuscatlani spy satellite disguised as civilian TV satellite moved slowly onto Ebony province, taking a series of Photos of what was the province looking like. Satellite was moving, so it was unable to stay there for long; however, this series of photos was more than enough. At the same time, engines roared on the Tangsong military airfield as flight crew were running around, ensuring that the series of Model 60SM strategic bombers were prepared for their initial strike. Their strike was more than well organised. Having operational range of 9 500 km and equipped with newest stealth technology - they were more than enough to fly from Kaifong into Atlas region and do their job. Attached to pylons below their wings of some of them were Raduga KH-22M "Kitchen" missiles, modified to have over 500km range. With such range their task would be childishly easy. After the terrain was confirmed and everybody was in, engines roared as the planes started from their airfield. The Cuscatlanis who piloted them were more than ready to carry out this strike. They arose among fire and flew towards the enemy, using their stealth technology towards their advantage. Carlosians will have serious problems with detecting them.... And when they will know of their presence it will be too late because this was the anti-radiation variant, which would rip the radars and make the SEAD mission complete, then the 2nd wave will come and level the factories with the ground, ripping Carlosian economy.

The navy was also mobilized, and prepared for the venture as whole economy was set on war. 4th and 7th Fleets were being prepared to sail to Carloso and finish it off for good - Sailors thinking they are going to attack Estenia..

The Tsar was with lots of agents in the Estenian Intelligence Agency somewhere in Estenia. They received a message by Kaifongese Jun Qing and tricked them with a message telling them a full scale attack on Estenia. After the message the Tsar quickly said

"Prepare everyone we're under war condition with SACTO, quick, airforces and navy check out 125 km outside Estenian mainland, prepare the Overseas Islands too and keep Gianlang from doing anything stupid. Also contact all the protectorates and colonies."

"Yes, your majesty." said General Agu Lepp this timke being more serious than the war on Aronia

"10 Chengdu J-20 are available for scouting the region 125 km from Estenia without being noticed, should we send them now?" asked an Airforce soldier

"Yes, the quicker the better." said the Tsar and he added "As for you Lepp,I have you a job if this isn't an attack on us because I heard Carloso is hated but still I am not sure if they attack Carloso, but be sure, you'll soo control a whole Marin Korps."

"Great, your majesty, now what am I supposed to do."

"Well after the patrolling is over we will send some Marin Korps and Land Infantry along with the Navy, ok?"

"Good, great shall I got train my Marin Korps now?"

"Do your best to these lads."

"Be sure, your majesty, I'll do."

"Great." said the Tsar while got up to his horse and got check the Light Horse Cavalry which was good enough even if they had some old weapons. Later that day, the Light Horse Cavalry trained for 4 hours before they were ready for war.

The SACTO-IFC cold war had gone hot, first with Argentarino, and now worldwide, nations were coming under attack. Together with the Kaifongian Armed Forces, the Riysian High Command had formulated a plan to hit the IFC at one of the places where it would hurt the most - Carloso. The nation of Carloso was home to the IFC's defense minister and heavily contributed to and organized the IFC's military capability, so by taking down the nation, the IFC would be severely weakened.

Plans were drawn up and devised, starting with a joint disinformation campaign to make it appear that the SACTO's next target would be the nation of Estenia. Estenia was an ally of Carloso, but apart from that footnote it had little strategic importance to SACTO's real war plans. On the surface, however, it appeared that SACTO would attack Estenia because it seemed like an easy target, giving it a quick foothold in the region to attack neighboring countries such as Bratislav.

Members of the Cyberwarfare Division spread this information around through multiple sources - anonymous internet forums and chatrooms, and false leaks and statements to the press. Meanwhile, the Riysian Armed Forces geared up for war, although the actual target was kept secret from the soldiers and low-ranking officers. From Maraya al-Bahr, the 4th Fleet set sail, carrying with it two amphibious assault ships (the Riysian beachhead force) and two Thulum("Darkness")-class ships. These were special electronic warfare ships, fitted with a wide variety of jamming equipment, high-powered dazzlers to blind infrared and optical systems, and radar and SIGINT/ELINT/COMINT equipment to provide up-to-date intelligence and tracking for allied forces. While they played a vital role overall, the reason why they were now being deployed - as opposed to most previous Riysian fleet deployments - was because they had the capability to silence satellites. Their jamming equipment was just as effective at suppressing a radar satellite as it was confusing a missile or jet, and the dazzlers were originally intended to take out satellite optics - just one burst was needed to blind a satellite for up to several hours.

On mainlaind Riysa, strategic bombers and tanker aircraft were being prepared for their own strike, to wipe out various strategic targets, as soon as the order was given. This whole operation - codenamed Operation Ra'ab (Fear) - would be the largest initial deployment of any conflict Riysa had fought, and as such, the top command was eager for it to be underway so that it could be used for propaganda purposes.

The 3rd Fleet was among several Riysian assets based in Kaifong. Upon the departure of the Kaifongese fleet, the 3rd Fleet also took off, moving along with them to the rendezvous point, where the Riysian 4th Fleet would join them with the necessary support ships.

An LY471 Skyguard battery deployed outside the city swivelled towards the blue skies above, loaded with a barrage's worth of sixteen LY4031 missiles, one of Carloso's latest military purchases. The battery had detected a suspicious aircraft incoming from the north with no IFF tag. While hundreds of military personnel were working to identify the aircraft, a squadron of Eurofighter Typhoon jet fighters designated as air superiority craft were ordered to be prepared to scramble, accompanied by a Lockheed EC-130H Compass Call electronic warfare plane one the enemy got within range. Meanwhile below, several radars turned in the direction of the supposed aircraft, tuning into long wavelengths to detect any inbound threat.

"Don't trust a word they say Chancellor... its just too obvious." General Moran was browsing the internet, tutting at the results showing an attack was inbound for Estenia. "Stick to our guns, scramble the air-force and wait until were fired upon, like we always do. They're experts at lying and deceiving... their fascists remember?"

Carl simply sighed and looked at his watch. "Have the air-force intercepted the aircraft we detected, general?"

"They're scrambling as we speak sir."

A squadron of Lockheed U-2 Dragon Lady reconnaissance aircraft took off, one by one to scour the Fale Ocean for potential enemy ships. Every few hours they would take off and arrive in cycles, going in groups of twelve aircraft which would then separate and cover every inch of water within their range, taking photographs as they went.

Meanwhile, above the Curente continent, a satellite began operations to watch the large section of ocean to the north of Zamora Province, focusing in on any suspicious objects approaching the province while below, a fast attack corvette set out on deploying special buoys equipped with cameras which would be placed far out on the ocean to spot any enemy ships.

King Richard got up out of his soft bed to the sound of Edenguard traffic starting to pick up, a quiet alarm sounding by the 3rd television in his room, the one that was linked to all of Hayabusa's satellite feeds. The window beside him, with a view of the massive city in the dark, gave him ample light to move from one end of the huge room to the other side of it without tripping. He typed in some lines of basic code and moved the satellite camera a few degrees to the west, and then zoomed in at the spot where a red dot was blinking. There were multiple Carlossian planes, including Skyguards and Eurofighters, departing from their bases and heading out to the ocean, obviously armed for a fight. But who would be invading or challenging Carloso?

He thought for a moment, and then it came to him. The SACTO-IFC war. IFC had a huge presence in Atlas, so it would make sense for SACTO to invade a nation within Atlas, probably to get a foothold and slowly wipe out IFC presence from the region, or at least disrupt IFC ops with what they had. It would have to be the SACTO big shots invading Atlas, probably Gran Cuscatlan and some others, because invading Atlas truly was a daunting task. It was a shame. Gran Cuscatlan had been a friend of Hayabusa, and now they were fighting against each other for unnecessary tensions created between the alliances.

The Queen got up, and immediately grabbed her laptop, and sat down on the edge of the bed. She navigated to the HBC webpage, and the two main articles at the top of the page were, "Internet Spam about Estenia Invasion?" and "Carlossian Military Planes Ready to Fight". Clicking on the internet spam article, she read that it was no more than a meme or copypasta of some sort that went viral in a day after someone with a proxy IP posted it in multiple social media sites and chat rooms. Interestingly enough, over 84% percent of those who reposted the Estenia invasion comments had a proxy IP, and there were at least 2 million posts about it. "Have you heard about the spam about the Estenian invasion," the Queen asked.

"No... what is it?"

"A good lot of trolls and people who have nothing to do posted spam and copypastas about an invasion of Estenia, simple as that. Its fake, and is causing a slight distraction of people around Atlas, as not many know about the whole deal with the Carlossian planes and many are paying attention to the spam and what is happening in relation to that."

"It has to be a SACTO incursion on Atlas. What other nation would want to threaten Carloso, or even cause it to prepare extremely high levels of aerial security? IFC-UL tensions are not the best but they are not HORRIBLE, and none of us want to provoke an IFC-UL war. SCP is mainly within Atlas, so why would they be coming in externally? SACTO, on the other hand, has no presence in Atlas and we are at a state of war. It has to be them."

"It probably is, and that means we've got to prepare for a fight. SACTO is no pushover, and they aren't as diplomatic as the rest. Once they are in a war, they are in it to win, or die. I do believe that we have FOBs and naval congregations in that area, shall we deploy them?"

"No, but make sure that they are on high alert. The Carlossians can confirm if we actually are dealing with a sizeable enemy force, and if they do, we will deploy. I do not want to move our congregations or deploy from FOBs unnecessarily, and raise suspicion from other nations for that matter. Let's just wait to see what it is, and if its what we think, we deploy."

Phase 1, Operation Ra'ab - Teasing

One of the first stages of the planned offensive against Carloso was to "tease" the enemy; essentially, inflict attrition on and cause confusion within enemy forces in preparation for the major assault. While Kaifongian aircraft were working on their own brand of teasing, the Riysian and Kaifongese fleets would have some fun of their own with their submarine force.

There were 12 Riysian submarines, all of them Saif al-Bahr-class subs, traveling with the Riysian fleet. Eight of them were dispatched to this task, which was to mine the sea bordering Carloso, each carrying 20 Stonefish mines. The rest of the fleets slowed down, while these eight submarines accelerated to maximum speed, descended into the thermocline layer to completely insulate themselves from enemy submarines and SONAR (at the expense of not being able to search for enemy submarines or ships), and sped off.

Even at maximum speed, it took a couple days for the submarines to arrive at the location. Once there, though, the submarines began deploying the Stonefish, configured for a maximum warhead charge of 600 kilograms, enough to wreck even a carrier. A few of the mines were not explosive, but rather, involved in signals intelligence and target data acquisition. Quietly, the submarines went to work, silently deploying their load, while staying hidden in the thermocline.

Once both their load and the Kaifongese's loads were deployed, the next stage took place. Two of the submarines slowly rose out of the thermocline layer, using their extensive SONAR suite and the towed array dipping below the thermocline to maximize their coverage range. Of course, this being a large ocean, the point where the last mine was deployed did not have much in the way of ships...except for, the only return that close enough to be worth pursuing at that moment, a submarine. Specifically, the SONAR return was that of a Madrigal-class diesel submarine, of which there was only one in service.

The Riysian submarine moved closer, slowly, having a negligible acoustic signature. At near the maximum range, it fired two 653 mm supercavitating torpedoes at the submarine, each with a nasty 200 kilogram warhead. Unfortunately for the submarine at the receiving end, each torpedo traveled at around 200 knots, closing the distance in record time, and homing in on it through a mix of inertial, wire-guidance, and terminal active seeking. Now, the war had begun in earnest.
