It was a cold and snowy day in the Usean Federation capital of Oured as people lined the streets for a parade commemorating the thirtieth anniversary of the start of the Genevian War. The throngs of people gathered here today to celebrate ****** and rejoice at *******'s victory during that cruel and often times abominable war which raged for ****** before finally coming to a decisive conclusion following the Battles of Massouba and the Gilnean plains.

What is overlooked though in the commemoration of this war however is the story of how the Genevian War altered not only the history of two continents but also the entire world. To understand how the war so greatly affected the future of Genevia one must go back to three years before the war started. In essence the Genevian War had its roots in the tenth Gilnean War which saw the combined forces of the IGDA and the Aravean Hegemony deal Gilneas a crushing defeat along with subsequently partitioning the country amongst themselves.

This partitioning along with the massive war reparations forced upon Gilneas fueled resentment amongst the Gilnean populace which in turn led to the rise of a radical right wing party within Gilneas. This party sought to restore strength and stability to the nation through any means necessary up to and including war. Naturally this new Gilnean government's policies inflamed tensions amongst both the IGDA and the Hegemony, this in turn prompted several Usean and Genevian nations to band together to form the Usean Federation as a means to counter growing Gilnean aggression.

Tensions came to a head on October 14th, PTE 117 when Usean and Tsarist official announced their withdrawal from the Gilnean Defense Coalition. In response to what they viewed as blatant treachery on the part of the Federation the Gilnean Kaiser declared war, an act which was soon returned by a coalition of twelve nations. These twelve nations in conjunction with the Usean Federation would launch a massive invasion of the nations of the GDC in the hopes of bringing about a permanent end to the Gilnean wars. Little did they realize that they had just sparked wildfire of conflict that would rage the next five years....

The first set of Muzztopian Troops had just set out earlier in the morning. The Ministry of Defense in an office building down the street was all a bustle with people coming in and getting to department meeting to discuss what needs to be done to support the troops on the ground. Vice Defense Minister Kiki Kirishima led a meeting late in the morning with all the department heads to formally create a plan of what each branch is required to do during the war as well as discuss the best possible way to invade Gilneas and reach the capital to make the war as short as possible. Another item on the agenda was reinforcements and how they should be deployed.

Deian salazar has for centuries pursued the aim of rendering the peoples of Gilneas defenseless against there policy of world conquest by proclaiming a balance of power, in which Deian salazar claimed the right to attack on threadbare pretexts and destroy that the Gilnean State which at the moment seemed most dangerous. Thus, at one time, she fought the world power of Irav, later the Tsarist Chernigov , then Bosakia, and, since 1971, the Gilnean.

We ourselves have been witnesses of the policy of encirclement which has been carried on by Deian salazar against Gilneas since before the war. Just as the Gilneas nation had begun, under its Great leadership, to recover from the frightful consequences of the Past wars, and threatened to survive the crisis, the encirclement immediately began once more.

The Deian salazar war inciters spread the lie before the War that the battle was only against the House of Greymane or Gilnean militarism; that they had no designs on Gilnean colonies; that they had no intention of taking the Gilnean mercantile fleet. They then oppressed the Gilnean people under Treaty's that faithful fulfillment of which would have sooner or later exterminated 20 million Gilneans.

I undertook to mobilize the resistance of the Gilnean nation against this, and to assure work and bread for them. But as the peaceful revision of these Treaty's seemed to be succeeding, and the Gilnean people again began to live, the new Deian encirclement policy was resumed. The same lying inciters appeared as in 1971. I have many times offered Deian salazar and the Fang people the understanding and friendship of the Gilnean people. My whole policy was based on the idea of this understanding. I have always been repelled. I had for years been aware that the aim of these war inciters had for long been to take Gilneas by surprise at a favourable opportunity.

I am more firmly determined than ever to beat back this attack. Gilneas shall not again capitulate. There is no sense in sacrificing one life after another and submitting to an even worse Treaty. We have never been a nation of slaves and will not be one in the future. Whatever Gilneas in the past had to sacrifice for the existence of our realm, they shall not be greater than those which we are to-day prepared to make.

This resolve is an inexorable one. It necessitates the most thorough measures, and imposes on us one law above all others: If the soldier is fighting at the front, no one shall profit by the war. If the soldier falls at the front no one at home shall evade his duty.

As long as the Gilnean people was united it has never been conquered. It was the lack of unity in 1971 that led to collapse. Whoever offends against this unity need expect nothing else than annihilation as an enemy of the nation. If our people fulfills its highest duty in this sense, that God will help us who has always bestowed His mercy on him who was determined to help himself.

Synapse brooded. Data had come to light, delivered to it instantly by the numerous spy satellites the Serrian Overwatch had deployed in orbit, that the whole continent of Genevievia was being lit aflame. Troop movements, combat excercises, a flurry of communications between dozens of nations. The sides became clear instantly: Gilneas had made yet another blunder, and this time, it seemed it would be the last; Synapse had already entered the anti-Gilnean coalition via its proxy humanoid of Allen Mallory, that indisposable ambassador to the little fleshlings.

And now, after so much waiting, Synapse knew it was time.

The order went out immediately to all of the command computers on Terminus Island, as the whole of Serrian's military sat on edge.

DEPLOY OPERATION IRON TEMPEST

Synapse watched through a million sensors as Mantis bombers and Nomad transports ignited their engines and began taking off from their airstrips like so many little flies; so many little flies carrying bombs and the brand-new Serrian AIGUP drones. The second wave, deploying the members of Serrian's External Operations Force, would come shortly.

And the Mantis bombers flew, their elegant stealth-bomber bodies concealing the hell that lay within.

In four hours, the Eastern Gilnean coast would burn.

[The Royally United Provinces]

25,000 men stood readied for deployment outside of Winston Palace. King James, Queen Consort Alaina, Crown Princess Caroline, and Prince Aleksandr II walked onto the balcony. James walking up to the podium set up. He began his speech.

"Today marks the day we end a threat to our nation. The day we will charge into a fourteenth war on the nation of Gilneas and planned to be the final. We join out allies in an all out assault and finish this once and for all. For the good of Genievia. This is the final straw as we join the IGDA and Usean Federation to end the terror the Gilnean nation has provided and forced any in opposition to death or to fear that they will be hurt by the Gilnean ways. The only people who will feel the repercussions will be Gilneas itself! Today we charge to end this. Today is the end! The end of the terror of Gilneas! The end of Gilneas! And so to end I must thank you for your service in advance. God bless you all and Godspeed."

With this, the masses cheered and the royal family went inside. The men began a parade to the docks where they boarded waiting naval vessels embarking, on Gilneas.

2:00,Somewhere over Gilneas City

The Pilot of the aircraft was ready to drop the payload on Gilneas city,when the order came in to do it. Several Planes opened their bomb bay doors,then the order to release the bombs was given,and in a few seconds part of Gilneas City was ablaze.

Pillars of smoke rose to the sky as the Mantises shrieked by, supersonic thrusters firing and bringing them out to range, preparing to make another attack.

The Gilnean city of Isleta was burning.

The Nomads began arriving, and when the Mantis bombers flew on to attack the Gilnean city of Rawai, the Nomads opened their cargo bays, letting loose the AIGUP drones stored within.

They swarmed the air like so many oh-so-deadly hornets and rapidly piloted themselves down towards the ground, where they began firing on the disarrayed Gilnean soldiers and intimidating the cowering civilian populace.

Soon, the EOF would arrive to capture the city.

DNNV Itallom sat quietly and motionlessly 25 meters under the surface, her passive sonar and hydrophone arrays listening to the surrounding ocean and its occupants. Should the Gilnean fleet leave harbour, they would appears as a cluster of contacts to her electronic ears. The sound of warship screws were far more concise than the sound of the coastal trader 160km to the north, they could also hear the sound of the 43rd Fleet, 100km to the NW, a slow noise, interrupted occasionally by whale calls. The sonar arrays could hear the 43rd's active sonar clearly and concisely even over 100km away, the Gilnean sonar was bound to be far louder and obvious to their sensors.

The rising sun's rays glared off the light grey wings and fuselage of the Savant as it continued another long turn at the end of a 20 km long figure-of-eight. The radome mounted above the fuselage slowly rotating, it could detect a few commercial flights over the continent, they were currently keeping an eye on Gilnean Airspace and West Lithuanian "Tracking Target formation vector 290 degrees, 480 knots, identified most probably as a Serrian formation" Someone called out "Keep an eye on it, most likely going strike the eastern side of Gilneas City" the Airspace Manager replied as he looked at his watch "Can someone pass word onto the flight team that Sunbird 1 is holding 5km south of our holding pattern axis, level 5-50, no need to change settings?" As someone scrambled forwards, a radar operator shouted from their work station towards the rear of the vast cabin "Shit, target vector 160, 2256 knots climbing fast level 7-30, 7-40..." The Battle manager thought for a second, couldn't be an ICBM or a ABM, they travelled far more vertically. Isolating it on his workstation he looked at the figures Relax, must be an off the record Sabine flight, notify Sunbird1 of our secret little friend.

The sky up here was just a deep blue, no clouds and stars were still very visible, of course looking up gave the plots no impression of the speed they were traveling at as they roared though the heavens at over a kilometer a second, a black dart trailing two long plumes of blue fire like a bolt from the yonder. The S4 "Sabine" was old technology as far as time goes but it was still pretty much invulnerable up it's element. The two crew aboard the Sabine were on edge, this particular one was a notorious one, last week it'd almost gone into an uncontrollable spin due to what the report would call a engine backfire but the pilots called a "true pants shitting moment". This morning it was their duty to take high resolution images of the defenses of Gilneas City while the city was still bleary eyed. As they shot across the border, heading directly for Gilneas City. Underneath them a hundred thousand dollar camera and a few dozen terabyte disc-drive, was primed to film Gilneas City in all its candid glory.

40 Meters beneath the Sea of Genievia DNNV Ulysillyn slowly crept south, towing her TSA behind her as she listened into maritime traffic, ready to receive orders from a ULF transmitter in Heraculo, on the other-side of the globe. Today they had finally come through, D-L-T-A-1-5-7-T was scanned out on the TELEX, which was quickly passed onto the Commander. "Bring her to 50 meters, course and speed steady" He ordered as he crumpled up the TELEX transcript and pulled out the bridge copy of the Almanac of Warships Right, let's see what these savages have for ships.

The 5km strip of land that made the Gilneas-Kreiger Border was easy enough to guard, this morning in fact the Kreiger 1st Armoured and Kreiger 1st Heavy Armoured Divisions joined them, a assortment of the finest military equipment in region. 5km behind the border, in dugouts spread out across various fields, the Kreiger 1st Artillery Battalion loaded their 177mm pieces with GPS guided shells to begin the sortie, whilst back at the border, the crews of the various tanks fitted their Anti-RG grates on the brackets jutting from the hull and turret.

The second wave at Terminus Island was now completely ready. Shock teams of the EOF Operations Unit were loaded, armed, and ready. The target: a small coastal airstrip, civilian owned, near the Gilnean coast. Taking it over and deploying a FOB would be easy.

The hard part, of course, was not getting shot down by the ever-so-slightly jumpy Dewhurstian military, which were prowling Gilneas to the northeast.

Rick had just gotten a message about the new Gilnean war. Upon reading it, he called General Kaer to his office. General Kaer walked in, with a worried look on his face. "General, what should be our plan of attack?" asked Rick, handing Kaer the message. Kaer stuttered for a second before responding. "I... Uh.... I don't know" he said, nervously. "They've fortified themselves in a way comparable to the Wall. Our Ground forces can't do anything. They've placed mines all over the desert. It would be a suicide mission" said the general. "What about Aieal and Naval forces?" asked Rick in an irritated manner. "Our planes can't go far enough with their fuel tanks. They'd have to crash land. It's too expensive. And our ships would have to go one-by-one through narrow rivers to get to a good spot. They would be sitting ducks". Replied Kaer in a hushed, scared, and embarrassed tone. Rick put his forehead into his hand. "Get me on the phone with General Mathew. He's creative". Said Rick.

The First Troops begin an amphibious assault on the Gilnean Coast,and come under heavy fire.Eventually they make it through and begin moving inland.

The war had just been declared.Yan had been expecting this and had prepared well.He decided to call Rick to see the Acaharian plans for invasion.
He picked up the phone and dialed Rick's number.

Rick picked up the phone after relaying orders to the field commanders. "Hello?" Rick asked. "Oh, hey Yan. Acharian Plans? Oh have I got a plan. So stupid it just might work" Rick said. He pulled up the file and gave the overview. "We've discovered that the Gilneans have planted a huge minefield in the desert, blocking us off from them. But here's their mistake. The mines are too clse together. So, we're going to launch some small explosives, cause a chain reaction, and bang, we have a crater. Then we can use the craters as ready-made trenches, then an invasion. But in the meantime, I need your help. I need to get my planes from Acharastan to Gilneas City, but we don't have enough fuel. You wouldn't happen to have a refueling station we could stop at would you?"

On this very cold winter morning the preparations for the war with Gilneas were made. A fleet was prepared and was now located in the millitary port of Thayne in the North-West of Irav. Several of the navy her best ships were prepared including 3 aircraft carriers and 17 destroyers. In the port itself a middle-sized invasion army was prepared, they would be used for a possible invasion of the GDC. Around 7.000 soldiers had arrived at Thayne all of which prepared for war. Because the Iravian army mostly believed in the use of armoured warfare hundreds of tanks were send with it.

A hour later when everything was prepared for attack general Jansen held a last speech for his men. ''Goodday gentlemen, I didn't come to this port to give a really long speech. But I do want to say to all of you that the Iravian people thank you for your actions. And will of course wish all of you the best of luck in this overseas war against the Gilnean Empire. An empire which as many of you know has declared war on us not once but twice. Now it is up to you, the Iravian Armed Forces to take our revenge. I believe I have been talking for too long now. So once again we wish you the best of luck in this mission.''

''What about the blockade, we haven't recieved data about Archueland and if they will even be fighting this war.'' Another general said to Jansen.

''Don't worry. The submarines will follow the fleet to Gilnean waters to set up a blockade there.'' Jansen replied.

After the fleet was 2 kilometers away from the port a small wolfpack of 10 nuclear-powered submarines started following them. To the Gilnean waters, and to form a blockade over their.

The 2nd and 3rd Servintan Expeditionary Forces consisting of several Servintan expeditionary unit sailed at dawn, men from the S.E.F stood on the decks and waved as their families and friends gathered to watch them leave.Tears, farewells, and kisses were used with abandon as the troops were to be the first Servintan's to strike and considering this their family's were hopeful but not ignorant to the facts that many men would not return to the embrace of their loved ones.This sad fact was covered and concealed by the blasting foghorns and military bands that sounded in glory to the oncoming fight, confetti and balloons were thrown to the sky in celebration as the S.E.F air support passed by overhead to signal the might of the Servintan military.

Arch-Field Marshall Gregoff and Senior Field Marshall Rusanto along with Fleet Admiral Faltiv and Grand Air Marshall Kussna stood on the command deck of the fleets Capitol ship the SPNS Ulaogon aircraft carrier.From here they could see the many troop ships, tankers, supply and support ships that carried the ground forces of the Expeditionary force.This fleet which had been christened the '1st Genevian Expeditionary Fleet' was surrounded by three battle-groups and one carrier task force that would protect the vulnerable troop ships from attack by air or sea, underneath them a small task force of submarines would scout and patrol the waters that surrounded the fleet to alert their surface vessels of any hidden sea attacks.

"Are your fighters and bombers in-route Kussna?" Gregoff started his pre-combat report for the invasion forces.

"Yes, twenty of my best 'Strategis' bombers are flying toward their objective now along with ten T-50 fighters, they will precede us by an hours gap." The Air-Marshall answered.

"Your landing craft and battle-groups Faltiv?" Gregoff questioned.

"Fueled and ready to launch the minute we get close to the landing zone and all nine naval squadrons and four carriers are ready for combat." The Admiral reported.

"And finally our land forces Rusanto?" Gregoff starred at his lesser commanding officer in anticipation of bad news.

"Out of our five-hundred tanks and our infantry forces, only 150 tanks with 15,000 troops are ready for combat but the others shall be ready soon enough." Russanto replied.

"It will have to do for now." Gregoff growled as he leaned over the map of the Genevian continent.

"Soon!" His word was as powerful as its meaning, soon the enemy would feel the iron fist of the Arch-Leaders fury and none would stand against his will except the fools who would soon face destruction by his armies.

And so the fleet steamed onward on their approach to the the Gilnean shores.

200 stealth planes flew the coast. Carpet bombing the coast. 400 tanks came ashore along with 13,000 of the men. Tanks moved on first clearing the coast and mopping up survivors. Ground men followed and mopped up the final resistance. This beachhead was encamped. Ship guns prepared to fire and defend it. Tanks had moved into defensive positions and patrols occurred often.

Rick remembered this fact. He remembered all of his family in Aravea. Finally he said confidently: "It won't spread overseas. I'll make sure of that. We've been pouring Erans into submarines. They try to spread the war, they get a nuclear torpedo".
