I agree, Congreveopia. The line must be drawn somewhere. It sound silly, but if an unrealistic idea is allowed, the. Really what stops someone from going farther to say they have "poo-flinging CIWS"? That's a bit extreme, but there has to be rules. Otherwise it just becomes stupid-- in 2025, it becomes laser tanks shooing down plasma-shooting hovercraft, while a space death beam destroys cities. Obviously DENs ideas aren't to that extent, but without some leash on realism, things like this could morph into that. Also, yes, I'm really not in favor of this FanT, but I'll deal with it this time.

The ONLY reason why Oale can use those girl-plane-things, is 'cause his stuff comes from a rip in the time-space continuum. Everything else should be at least somewhat normal.

Oh yes. I don't object to Oale's stuff (on a realisim level at least), because we've already discussed that.

I was planning on eventually having this line spoken in one of my posts:

"Several people in R&D are interested in getting their hands on some of the other-worlders, and the other-worlder cyborg aircraft in order to analyze their technology, and possibly improve our equipment based on it. Several people in R&D are also interested in getting their hands on some of the other-worlders for completely non-business-related reasons, but let's not dwell on that for too long..."

No. Not at all.

3D printers aren't more efficient than regular manufacturing techniques for grinding out a lot of the same item.

I don't think so. I think its easier, cheaper and faster to pour concrete into a brick mold than 3D print concrete bricks. 3D printing only has the advantage when you want a few of something odd.

*sigh of relief* whew I'm so glad that didn't escalate into anymore than it did, because that would be a very stupid thing to get into a heated argument about. Especially because it's purely hypothetical and probably wouldn't be used in the RP anyways.

You do not just send a diplomat to China. You are invited. And the Chinese, right now, have no reason to invite a DEN diplomat, or send one of theirs to DEN.

Because that would totally be practical and cheap for the Chinese to do. We have bottomless manpower, construction equipment, and prefabricated building modules and plans? Nah, better first divert desperately needed resources towards building these printers, and then have them take a damn long time to build fewer factories than we actually need.

I felt like I shouldn't clutter up the military realism thread with this, so here's my response to you, Pad.

Padnak wrote:DEN's complaining aside, time for a legitimate question!

I'm facing the possibility of an all out war, most likely with me on the defensive, against an expansionist china attacking from the sea and I'm wondering what approach to defence would be best. I could try and fend the Chinese forces off with my conventional navy operating close to the shore supported by land based AShMs and land based aviation, or I could try and pull my fleet back to my inner islands and leave the fighting up to land based units and small fast attack craft. My logic with the second suggestion is that I don't really stand a chance in a conventional battle, so why not attack with massed boghammers and fast attack craft supported by aviation and land based defences with the expectation that Chinese forces will probably be able to land if they apply themselves enough, at which point they'll have to fight their way though heavily entrenched infantry and defensive works while under fire from land based support elements such as artillery and entrenched tanks

I'm leaning more towards the second option given that I already have a large number of forces in the area (nearly 9 infantry divisions with 11,000 soldiers each) I suspect the Chinese would attack through given the direction of their current expansion.

Just some quick info- I'm going to stop and consolidate my gains before any amphibious invasions, and if there's any amphibious stuff at all it'll probably hit Java and Sumatra first.
Secondly, the Chinese have a similar doctrine of using lots of heavily armed small craft, missiles, and land-based planes, so the South China Sea and its airspace are just going to be complete chaos.
Thirdly, do keep in mind the Chinese will not have to deal with the Oale-Japanese on a second front (as you may be forced to), and they're willing to take around a hundred million casualties to ensure the campaign's success (and they have total control at home, which I don't think a shaky and already-battered military junta would).

China's staying on the mainland for now, though, while they consolidate their gains.
