Murder Most Fowl! (OOC, Interest/Sign-up, Character RP)

There's murder in the Fanboyist nation!

...which ordinarily isn't all that big a deal. But this time its on the set of the Federation's own budding "Iron Chef"-type competition (a cooking competition, for those of you unfamiliar with the show)!

For anyone unfamiliar with the genre of the RP's general path, this is basically Clue. A classic Whodunnit? murder mystery.

You are free to RP any contestant (either Fanboyist or from your own nation), detectives or private investigators, or fans of the show who happen to be part of the 'live studio audience'.

I'd like to encourage newer RP'ers to join in to hone their skills and (more importantly) to have fun.

A few things for those of you unfamiliar with RP'ing (either with myself or another RP'er):

1) Please, for the love of God, no one-liners. It's ok if your posting takes a bit longer because of this; believe me, quality is much better than quantity here.

2) Well-developed characters are a plus here; Mary- and Gary-Sues are frustrating to deal with, simply put.

3) Please try to spell, capitalize, and use correct grammer. I understand not everyone's English, spelling, etc, are great, but I'd appreciate it if you'd make the effort, even if the effort is just capitalizing the beginnings of sentences and feeding your post through spell-checker if this is something people complain about when RP'ing with you.

4) Have fun, dammit! There's no point to RPing if its stuffy and stifled.

I have a Character Application Form, but don't feel bound to it; (preferably) add as much as you want or (preferrably not) subtract from it.

Physical Description: (What do they look like, more or less? Make this as long or as short as you want; it's the charicterization that matters mostly. But certain general things (height, build...etc) are somewhat important)
Character Description: (What is the character like as a person? Friendly? Insecure? Paranoid? Recklessly overconfident? This is far more important to be detailed in than physical description.)
Anything Special That We Should Know: (Do they turn into a screaming psychopath if you say the word "icicle" around them? Do they have an inordinate hatred of ducks? Anything extra that develops the character. I'm not sure, this category may be redundant.)
Relation to the Story: (Are they a cast-member/contestant? Private investigator? Friend of the victim? A concerned fan? Something else (please explain if this is the case, for approval purposes).

Well, here's one contestant, a cop, and the producer of the show.

Character Name: Ryan McAndrews
Nationality: Fanboyist
Gender: Male
Age: 21
Physical Description: Lanky, tall (6'2"), with black hair (starting to thin a little on top, poor guy), pale-blue eyes.
Character Description: Ryan is very confident in his cooking ability, and is actually majoring in food service in college. He entered the competition to earn scholarship money and to get a kick start as a chef. While not a bad guy, Ryan sometimes comes across as unfriendly, if not outright hostile.
Anything Special That We Should Know: Ryan has a drinking problem, which he tries to keep hidden. All the same, he has a weakness for the booze. Especially a good bottle of rum. He also lacks impulse control at times.
Relation to the Story: Ryan is a contestant on the show.

Character Name: Harvey Kline
Nationality: Fanboyist
Gender: Male
Age: 48
Physical Description: Short and stocky, surprisingly strong for someone who's worked a desk job for years. Full head of brown, (some grey) hair, and brown eyed. A little overweight.
Character Description: Harvey is an honest man (uncommon in showbiz anywhere) who has a passion for entertainment; in his earlier days, Harvey was a comedian, and he still likes to inject humor into things, even where, at times it may not necessarily be appropriate. Harvey is that rare person who's actually funny when they're happy, not just angry. Slow to anger, but frightening (or frighteningly funny) when he does get angry.

Relation to the Story: Producer of the show.

Character Name: Danielle Erikson
Nationality: Fanboyist
Gender: Female
Age: 23
Physical Description: Not terribly tall (5'3"), fairly slenderly built, shoulder-length dark red-brown hair usually kept in a pony-tail, green-eyed. Fairly strong for someone her size, and moderately athletic.
Character Description: Very wet behind the ears; Danielle is fresh out of the state police academy, and has been stuck to handle this case almost alone because of the shortage of police officers. Danielle is normally quite assertive (or aggressive, when irritated), but is very hesitant when she isn't sure what to do. Quite observant, but impatient, and is prone to jumping to conclusions. Optimistic, more or less, by nature, but cynical in regards to human nature. She lacks the experience to have a sense of humor about her job, and is very literal minded.
Anything Special That We Should Know: Danielle played field hockey. She was very good, and very aggressive. Not someone you want to make angry.
Relation to the Story: Rookie investigator in the Northwatch State Police Department.

[Snowy Egrets]

Oh, I am so in. (This is Almajoya, btw.) I hope you will allow me to do this- SE has a large sentient animal population.

Character Name: Stuart Gregory House
Nationality: Snowy Egretian
Gender: Male human
Age: 41
Physical Description: Stuart bears an uncanny resemblance to a certain TV character. He is of medium height and build, with graying brown hair and alluring blue eyes.
Character Description: Unlike his counterpart, Stuart is charming to a point of perfection, although he does also have a sarcastic streak and can come off as a complete and utter bastard. He tends to be less interested in real life and more interested in entertainment, including reality shows and porn.
Anything Special That We Should Know: Stuart is a womanizer and will hit on anything remotely human and female.
Relation to the Story: Stuart is a huge fan of the Federation's version of "Iron Chef" and has come to see this particular show in person, despite having pressing duties as Snowy Egrets' dictator. He has dragged the Cardinal Official along with him.


Character Name: The Cardinal Official
Nationality: Snowy Egretian
Gender: Male cardinal
Age: literally 3 years, but SEBA-classified* as 28
Physical Description: The Cardinal Official is Stuart's right-hand man, er, bird. He is several inches tall and wide, and a healthy weight for a young and growing cardinal. His plumage is red except at his chest, which is black. He is usually carried around in a special steel-and-glass cage.
Character Description: The Cardinal is the rational one of the pair. He is mostly patient, thoughtful, and caring. It is always left to him to console the victims of Stuart's charm and/or hurt. He has learned to play off Stuart's personality, which does lead to occasional sarcasm matches.
Anything Special That We Should Know: Well, he's a cardinal.
Relation to the Story: The Cardinal has been dragged along on one of Stuart's whims again. He is a fan of the show as well, but would much rather be at home, running the country.

Nationality: Siberiakan
Gender: Male
Age: 32
Physical Description:Lanky, tall (7'2"), close cropped hair, brown at the front, sliver grey at the back, left eye dark blue, right eye bright green, very pale skin.
Clothing: dark grey jacket, black jeans, grey and white sports trainers, and light grey cap with 'don't bother me, I'm working on it' in bold black letters.
Character Descripition:
Sergei: nervous when talking to others, calm even in the most stressful situations.
Grigory: photo-graphic memory, hot-headed, easily offended.
Anything Special That We Should Know About: split personality takes pills regularly to prevent it from occurring.
Realation to the Story: soundman (makes sure that all the microphones work)

Character Name: Fitzgerald "Fitz" Robertson.
Nationality: Mirnectish
Gender: Male.
Age: 27.
Physical Description: Robertson is, at best, scruffy. His navy woolen jumper has a gaping hole in it in the area of the right armpit. His long hair is washed regularly, though it appears to not having been cut in months, the thick, uncombed blond hair stretching down to his shoulders. He is short and, due to an unpunishing metabolism, is of average weight. Having lived in an apartment with two other Mirns - one a Sam Gorilla T-Shirt Wearer and the other a bookshop owner - he is not the most hygienic, which examples itself in his stubby, bitten fingernails. He wears a pair of ruined black trainers which has been his everyday for over four years, his the bottom of his blue jeans completely ripped by being trodden on.
Character Description: Robertson is mad, according to the other Mirns. He is an eccentric failure of an abstract artist, and is extremely arrogant, thinking he can take on the world. He is a sex addict, it being the only way he finds pleasure, and will usually offer females a quick 'session', and, if he's drunk enough, males. Robertson is very unintelligent, hailing from a non-working class background, and finds pleasure in harming people. However, Robertson is usually trying to appear extremely happy, and will greet people with 'I love you!' or suitable salutation, though he remains heavily depressed and will give up even the smallest task. In short, he is an eccentric, depressed alcoholic.
Anything Special That We Should Know: Robertson is usually caught drunk.
Relation to the Story: An unconcerned fan.

Also, a note (although I don't think this affects anyone in particular here), this will take place somewhat in the past of the Federation (relatively speaking; the 'current' year is 2013, so this takes place in 2009.) You'll find out why this is somewhat important.

Character Name: Joe Grimmeberger
Nationality: Fanboyist
Gender: Male
Age: 31
Physical Description: 5'10", medium build, fairly muscular (think lower-tier college linebacker's build), brown hair, brown eyes. Has a rather distinctive barking laugh.
Character Description: Blunt. Stubborn. Sarcastic. He despises crime (more than is probably healthy) and has effectively devoted his life to thwarting crime and to bringing down politicians everywhere (because politicians are simply criminals waiting to happen, as he sees it). Likes a challenge, but is not above changing the rules of the game some, so to speak.
Anything Special That We Should Know: Joe is the nephew of the former head of state, Generalissimo Grimmeberger.
Relation to the Story: Grimmeberger is a Sergeant-at-Arms in the State Special Police, which is the Federal policing force; he is on loan from the Organized Crime Unit to help shore up Northwatch's understaffed department.

Character Name: John Durgan
Nationality: Delaclav
Gender: Male
Age: 29
Physical Description: 6'1", slim but muscular, black hair in crew cut. Flamboyant, but not unconvential, clothing - jeans, shirts, etc.
Character Description: Friendly, takes his job seriously, but can have fun and is somewhat of a ladies' man. Unlike the stereotypical lab rat, very social and able to get along with people.
Anything Special That We Should Know: Raped at the age of 7, and is therefore sometimes given to violent thoughts and can get very angry. Also has a severe drug problem, unbeknownst to his colleagues and most of his friends.
Relation to the Story: Forensic scientist - examines physical evidence to offer clues and determine what happened.

Relation to the Story: A famous Lazuri cameraman hired for the show. Knows most of the set.

Anything Special That We Should Know: Alexander is a neat freak to some extent, he must maintain an immaculate appearance when in doors. (Its not obsessive though) Also, Alexander has a strange penchant for charming women and making them "melt inside" (figurative, not literal). Alexander was a member of the Royal Marines for several years since age 16 and has significant special forces training.

Physical Description: 'Ursine' (anthrpomorphic Bear; bipedal, opposable thumbs, hands have nails rather than claws, throat structure allows him to use Human languages well enough), medium-brown fur, height = 6'9", fairly heavy build, left-pawed
Character Description: Friendly, confident, justifiably proud of his culinary skills (He's a professional chef back home, doing this show in the hope of gaining international recognition to help with sales of a special sauce that he's invented); follows the Ursion religion, but not fanatical about this.

Character Name: Elizabeth Durest
Nationality: A Local
Gender: Female
Age: 28
Physical Description: Look at photo above, its self explanatory
Character Description: Nervous and insecure, doesn't think she'd make much of a match for anyone (underestimates her own beauty), incredibly smart and intelligent, unafraid to hold her own in a verbal argument. But she is timid and shy when it comes to social situations. Men are always attracted to her, but she doesn't always recognize the attraction and sometimes can be quite blind or naive towards it.
Anything Special That We Should Know: Use to be an assasin at one point, but that is not public knowledge, thats something that will come out later in the story. She's very quiet and demure you would never expect her to be an assasin at any point in her life. She is deathly afraid of the sight of blood (perhaps why she isn't an assasin anymore?) and she always carries some kind of weapon on her body concealed in her bra whether it be a knife built in or guns built into the nipple parts of the bra.
Relation to the Story: She should end up being considered a suspect, but in the beginning she is just a member of the audience and becomes a friend of the Prime Minister.

There are a few issues regarding your most recent post:

A) This most recent character was not approved before you posted; as a matter of fact, reading over it, I can't help but feel that this sort of character is: 1) Bordering on Mary-Sue-dom (to be honest, the primary character even more so, but I can put up with one (a Marine and Prime Minister, all before his mid-twenties? Unlikely, to say the least); 2) Rather unlikely. To be honest, the character can't help but remind me of characters done by Sorgan, which were...uh, strange, to put it simply.

B) There were definitely portions of the most recent post that bordered on, if they weren't quite, godmods. The CPR...simply leaving the building...those are just two of them (no, there was no CPR administered, as she was quite clearly dead before she even hit the ground), the other contestants did not simply fail to notice the woman's loss of consciousness (they certainly did notice; it was only the one character, suffering a hangover, that was delayed in this), and Sergeant-at-Arms Grimmeberger would sooner have clobbered him with a nightstick, diplomatic immunity be damned, than allowed a potential suspect to leave.

Ryan was not tied up. Ever. He was in a chair of his own choice, because it beat sitting on the ground.

Finally, I'd prefer you not put words in my own police officer's mouth; for no other reason than the Fanboyist police operate a little differently than those in other countries; usually with a startling lack of subtlety. That said, she certainly wouldn't have drawn her gun on him, unless there was some reason to fear for her life or the safety of those around her.

I'd like it if you would correct some of these things, and keep this in mind in future posts.
