Today, the Secretary of Government of Leveat, Davena Fairchild, stood in front of a vast crowd of Levian reporters alongside a diplomatic delegation from NEO Rome Republic, Chairman of the Higher Council of the Confederacy of Allied States, in order to take the oath of office in Leveat's seat in the Lower Council. All was quiet as Madame le Secrétaire stood in front of the crowd, bowed, and recited:

"Moi, le Secrétaire de Gouvernement de Leveat, en ma qualité de représentation internationale suprême de mon Grand République, j'affirme que je serai toujours suivre le mot du président du Conseil supérieur. J'affirme que je serai toujours respecter les droits qui me sont confiées fidèlement, avec obéissance, et avec un engagement total. J'affirme que je ne serai jamais trahir la région et tout ce qui m'a été confié secrets à garder. Avec ces mots, je m'engage par la présentation de mon allégeance au Président et la région de la Confédération des États alliés, tel est mon affirmation solide."

With this affirmation, Leveat officially accepted its seat in the Lower Council. A representative will be sent to the Confederacy meeting building in NEO Rome Republic.

Yesterday, while eating his standard meal of walrus fat for dinner, a bullet whizzed past The Glorious Leader's head while he was picking up a fork he dropped. Cameras in his dining room suggest that whoever was shooting at him continued to fire several more times at The Glorious Leader, however kept missing, as seen by the bullet holes in the wall behind The Glorious Leader's dining table. When word reached around the country in a few minutes (Barboneia is pretty small, you know) that The Glorious Leader had almost been killed, most people were annoyed that he had not been killed. "How hard is it to shoot the the fat idiot?", says mayor of Talecton Joseph Myalls."Like really, all he ever does is sit down in one place. That assassin is incompetent! Someone should have hired an assassin from Leveat, they know how to get things done!" The search for the assassin continues. When The Glorious Leader was informed that he had almost been killed, he replied with "Huh, I thought I felt a draft. I'm not surprised, though. Who doesn't want me killed?" Casualties have been reported in the hundreds of thousands and are expected to increase as the night goes on until the morning, all areas attacked with any form of gas are trying to be evacuated as we speak, groups of gunmen are wearing police uniforms and are still running rampant killing civilians and government officials in places of buisness and in government facilities. Suicide bombers and suitcase bombs have been detonated in populated areas of commerce and reports have been received of high casualties in those areas. All civilians are told to stay home and stay indoors in the effected nations.

Reports of massive troop and armor concentrations around the ISW are true and there seems to be some form of mobilization within the country, the Air Force is on high alert and the Islamic Fleet of the Caliphate consisting of 2000 ships and 500 submarines seems to have departed the Persian Gulf at 8:00pm, 2 hours before the attacks, and is now somewhere in international waters. The ISW have held drafts within the last 30 minutes and all eligible men and women able to fight are being conscripted as we speak, we expect an influx of 1 million soldiers into the ISW Army expanding it to 4 million, an increase of insurgency has also been reported and all are waiting for orders from the ISW Command.

After 3 weeks of intense protests in the capitol of Barboneia, The Glorious Leader has been exiled from the country, and a government reform is now underway to fix his mistakes. At approximately 10:45 this morning, about 1,000 soldiers of the Greater Barboneian Army had moved into the capitol, securing all major roads out of the city, and completely surrounding The Glorious Leader's house. This rouge military unit led by renowned general Victor Ardenstotz had completely gained the support of Barboneia's people, and met no resistance when they entered the city. General Ardenstotz, 25 troops, and the few members of the government who had power reportedly walked into the building at 11:20. By this time a large crowd of people numbering the 100s of thousands had appeared outside the building. After 30 minutes of silence, the people who went in came out the doors cheering, with Second-In-Command Of Barboneia Jeffery Lewis being carried out by the crowd. The Glorious Leader was dragged out by his shoulders, spitting and frothing with rage, and thrown into the back of an unmarked SUV, which drove off. The crowd dropped SIC Lewis to his feet, and he announced that he has been chosen to lead the country of Barboneia. The cheering continues throughout the country. Prime Minister Lewis announced that he planned on turning Barboneia back into a democracy, and to reform the government into a much kinder socialist democracy. The Glorious Leader was last seen driving into New Mirror in a beaten up government SUV. What will happen to Barboneia in the coming days is not known, but major changes are expected. The Levian Central Bank has unveiled a new currency, the Levian Pound, today, following reports of concern and confusion over the legal status of the NationStates Dollar.
Bank officials say the new pound will use the single-stroke pound symbol (£), and be divided into 100 pence. Two Levian Pounds are equal to one NationStates Dollar, and as such conversions are easy.
To match the new currency, the Bank has also rolled out a new logo, shown above, as designed by Mme Marina Notoriano of the Minor Services Agency.
According to bank officials, NationStates Dollars will be convertible to Levian Pounds until June 1st, 2015. At that point, conversions will cease operations and NationStates Dollars will no longer be legal tender.

Only one day after beginning to large-scale mint pound coins, the Levian Central Bank has canceled the £5 coin.
Instead, the machinery that made it will be repurposed to produce a 60p coin. Why 60p? The Bank has an answer:

"Many foreign products imported into Leveat will be priced at some multiple of sixty pence. This is due to 50p or one NS dollar, plus 20% tariff on most imports, being equal to sixty pence."

In other words, the new 60p coin will help consumers easily purchase foreign products.

Following this announcement, the £5 coin has jumped in value to about £14.40 as collectors scramble to get their hands on one of only 100 coins produced.
The current price has the ironic potential to be purchased with 24 of the new 60p coins, and we highly recommend that any collectors out there use this method if possible for shock value.

At around 7:48 PM on Sunday, a large explosion consumed Dalen's Wharf in the town of Merenrannikkoänsi. A passenger ferry owned by Western Barboneia Sea Travel was blown up, with 70 of it's 359 passengers killed in the blast. 200 more were injured. The rest were able to escape harm. After-blast reports showed that 4 C-4 explosive blocks were placed under the ferry and were detonated remotely.

The investigation continues. The culprit is suspected to be a Canadian Hunshan ultra-nationalist. Relief from around the country is pouring into the town.

Leveat has recently decided to cease its participation in the Alliance for Military Protection, of which it was a founding member.
This decision is surprising, as usually Leveat takes a defensive stance. A government spokesperson answered some questions today:

Weekly: "Why have you left the Alliance?"
Spokesperson: "We decided it was better if we could maintain sovereignty over our miltary."
W: "What do you mean, sovereignty?"
SP: "When you're in that Alliance, and someone else gets attacked, you have to rush and defend them. You have to immediately send some of your army out. We decided it was better if we didn't have to."
W: "Will you still help other nations?
SP: "Oh, of course we will! We just don't want to be forced into taking a particular side, that's all."

In the midst of apocalyptic turmoil, Leveat has been promoted to the Higher Council. Much of the detail is uncertain.
The government says that the exact reasons for the promotion are classified, though it adds that much of it was simply having gained the trust of NEO Rome Republic.
It has also told that it is uncertain who exactly their succesor in the Lower Council was, but "we're guessing New Mirror, as we don't recall them being on the list before".

It may seem just like yesterday but in fact Damion White's winning speech was ten years ago today. While much has changed both in President White's party since then, its impact is still felt to this day. In this special we will look into just how Damion White transformed the political landscape of Tarazed and in doing so - set the timer for the largest change ever seen in a country since the dawn of time.

Tarazed, 2023

The year is 2023 and Tarazed was in trouble, unemployment was souring past the ten percent mark and the economy was stalling. The government in office was the most unpopular in Tarazed's history, however, no party had come up with an effective solution to the problem. This political nightmare was shattered by Damion White's debuting speech at the TED institution. White had yet to make a name for himself in politics - where he was regarded as an upstart, however he had made significant contributions to the scientific community and was a growing name on the patent list.

TED Institution, Whitecove Beach, Daramonty City, Wellington

Damion White, aged only thirty two, stood in his preparation room and swirled a small amount of whiskey in a whiskey glass with his right hand and fixed his tie with left. Taking a final sip from the glass, completely finishing the whiskey in the process, he fixed his combed back hair and cracked his neck. Putting down the whiskey glass on the table he walked towards the entrance to the central room - where he would be giving his speech.

""I am a law only for my kind, I am no law for all..." White muttered as the announcer introduced him, his magnified voice booming around the large room, ""I am a law only for my kind, I am no law for all..."

White emerged onto the short walk to the circle-shaped stage, noting that the large room was packed with spectators. He waved at the crowd as they offered a light applause, a drone hovered slightly ahead of him, most likely from a news crew nearby.

The applause stopped as White reached the main stage, he glanced around his audience briefly before beginning.

"T.E. Lawrence, eponymously of Arabia but very much an Englishman, favoured pinching a burning match between his fingers to put it out." White began, removing a match from his breast pocket and lighting it. He let the match burn for a few moments before snuffing it out with a quick pinch, "When asked by his colleague William Potter to reveal his trick, how is it he effectively extinguished the flame without hurting himself whatsoever, Lawrence just smiled and said, "The trick, Potter, is not minding it hurts," White gave a light laugh as the audience chuckled before his expression became one of neutrality, "The fire that danced at the end of that match was a gift from the titan Prometheus, a gift that he stole from the gods. Who were terrified of what we might do with it should it fall into our hair little paws. When Prometheus was caught and brought to justice for his theft, the gods, well, you might say they overreacted a little." Again the audience chcukled as White paused for a brief moment, "The poor man was tied to a rock, as an eagle ripped through his belly and ate his liver over and over, day after day, ad infinitum. All because he gave us fire. Our first true piece of technology, fire..."
White lit another match as he repeated 'fire', holding it in his hands as he continued, "Such a very long time ago...Which begs the question," White extinguished the match as he walked to the other side of the stage, "What have we done with it?"
"100,000BC - Stone Tools. 4000BC - The Wheel. 800BC - Sun-Dial," White drew a circle in the air as he mentioned the sundial, his voice softening, he carried on with his list moments later, "Ninth Century AD - Gunpowder...bit of a game changer that one..." The audience laughed as White chucked, "1441 - The Printing Press...only slightly less impactful. Nineteenth Century - Steam Engines, Railways, EUREKA The Light Bulb!" White paused for a few seconds, "Twentieth Century..." White held up his right hand and held up a finger for every invention he mentioned, "The Automobile, Television, Nuclear Weapons, Spacecraft, Internet. Twenty First Century..." White rest his finger counting, "Bio-tech, Nano-tech, Fission and Fusion and M-Theory ; And that was only the first decade!" White returned to the center of the stage, "We are now just over one month away from the start of the year 2024. At this point in our civilisation, we can create cybernetic individuals, we can build devices which can repair a planet's atmosphere. We have even identified the genetic chain of events behind ninety-eight percent of cancers. A chain that we have broken! Effectively curing them..." White paused, not wanting to bring up the fact that he himself had been on the team which had cracked the final two points, "If we can do all this. Surely that leads to one obvious conclusion...We can transform, we can destroy and we can create anew. In other words; we are the Gods now..." White paused as the crowd murmured various reacts, "And since I've not been struck down I'll take that to mean that I'm right."
The crowd returned to silence after a burst of laughter.
"Which begs a further question; What the hell are we supposed to do with this power? Do we help others? Do we help ourselves? I'll answer that for you. We can do nothing. Why? Because the government in office doesn't know how to use these powers. They're scared off misusing them. And to make matters worse: They set up rules and laws and ethical standards which prevent others from trying to use these powers. Well I AM NOT AFRAID." White bellowed, as he hit a fist against his chest, "I am not afraid of pushing the limits of knowledge if I know that good will come of it! I would have no quarrel with pushing men harder if it meant getting ten times as many off the streets and into stable jobs with a wage, with a home, with a family! These rules are preventing us from moving forward! These rules prevent us from feeding impoverished elements of our nation. They prevent us from moving the economy forward and they prevent people from getting their lives on track! To that I say NO MORE! Tarazed is a nation of greatness! It is a nation of perseverance and it is a nation of ambition!" Several members of the audience spouted their approval for White's words as he paused for breath, "For those of you who know me. You will be aware by now that my ambition is unlimited...That I will settle for nothing short of greatness," White held his right hand up, "Or I will die trying." White lowered his hand, "For those of you who do not yet know me...Allow me to introduce myself," White continued, bringing his left arm up in a courteous manner, "My name is Damion White...and if you'll indulge me...I'd like to put Tarazed back where it belongs...on top of the world..."
As White finished, the entire audience erupted with applause, causing a smile to slide onto White's face.

Tommorow morning, the Barboneia General Elections will be held throughout the day to see who will be the new leaders of the provinces of Barboneia.

Canidates include Markus Neglits, a prominent enviromentalist running for the governor's seat in The Northern Lands, who will be competing against Neslie Jenners for it.

Canidates for Central Barboneia include Patrick Wintersson, a heavy supporter of buisness subsidization, and Nelheim Obristanya, an ultra-nationalist who vows to rid the province of "dirty foreigners".

Lastly, the canidates for The Great South are returning governor Natalya Pontrum for her second term against Jorji Meskor, the former CEO for Meskor Industries.

"These acts are very troubling" said President of NRR, Constantine Maxovich. The results from the Barboneia General Elections are now in. Prime Minister Jeffery Lewis would like to thank all the voters who came out to decide on the new leader of the country.

The new governor for The Northern Lands is Markus Neglits, beating Neslie Jenners by 34,000 votes. Markus promises to put more pressure on the oil companies that have set up their drills and refineries in the region.

In Central Barboneia, Patrick Wintersson won by 98% of all votes. He promises to lessen the tax burden on major companies.

Unsuprisingly, Natalya Pontrum won the elections in The Great South. She's held onto the governor seat for the last 8 years.

After an unexpected attack from Aydean against the nation of NRR. NRR military action has been swift, reclaiming British Columbia from their control, and pushing them back to Vancouver. But the situation then became troubling. The fleet sent out to blockade the Aydeanians has been destroyed, though so has most of the Aydeanian fleet, but some ships still remain. The planes sent to bomb them have been destroyed. But despite this, the NRR military still outnumbers the Aydeanians on land, and has anti air craft weaponry against possible airstrikes in that area. "The situation is tense and uncertain" said President Constantine Maxovich. "But we have made great strides in reclaiming most of our land, and we still hold an advantage in numbers, tanks, and have anti air capabilities, against possibly attacks. We are far from beaten, and we shall win, that is my promise to the people."
