The doors opening as the sardian company and rebels walked in, the elevator started to descend to it's destination.

The elevator seemingly decided about one hundred feet until the door slid open, relieving a darkened metropolis filled with sprawling factories and nuclear power plant, which vents seemingly led up into the surface.

In the place where the elevator opened seemingly was a massive hundred by hundred foot grassland with large concrete pillars and in the distances hundreds of rebel troops marching in loose formations towards the main highway which led to the surface.

Also all communications in the underground was jammed.

"Everyone quiet Gag the rebels" the sergeant whispered as he pulled out his revolver, the rebel techs where gagged as the company walked, out of the elevator weapons out moving quietly to not alert the rebels marching up to the highway. "Alright everyone split up into platoons fire when I say" the troopers nodded and split up.

The rebels didn't noticed and seemingly no-one was around them.

There were multiple objectives in sight.

Chrisophis wrote:Imperial Forces continued to take casualties from rebel fire but continued to push their forces forward using tanks to lead in Infantry and support vehicles such M-2 Artillery platforms. Some of them were even intwined with Black Berets bearing their standard power armor and heavy weapons, matching the rebels in strength and conventional weaponry, but lacking some of the technological advances that their foes posses.

As soon as the Berets have been spotted, a precision strike has been ordered on their location.
All over the frontline, the Rebels started to retreat quickly- much faster than Imperials could gain ground. While taking and returning fire soldiers hopped onto the transports both air and ground and drove off, their tanks and other vehicles following suit.
As the invaders gained ground, they found that the rebels have left hundreds of partly buried canisters, and that some unknown gas has been leaking from them, slowly raising a mist across the front. In case imperials had any field scanners, the gas didnt seem be a biological hazard or to contain toxins of any kind. Could it be a massive smoke screen?

However, Imperial ships stopped firing missiles and began their use of their conventional cannons and auto-cannons aboard their ships to bombard retreating rebel forces, fighters switched to their massive armaments as-well, leaving behind the thought of using their advanced missiles
The 8 F-33's continued towards their target's and began to fire once they got into range.
The missiles from the hostile jet managed to kill two out of the twelve Black Berets, whom returned fire with their hand-held rocket launchers and machine or mini-guns.

Effectiveness of the bombardment was somewhat limited due to scattered rebel formations, but if Imperials learned something from this- it's that Tsars make spectacular explosions when destroyed. Not powerful enough to outright kill surrounding rebel troopers, though.
Long before F-33s got into range suitable for autocannons, rebel aircraft were zapping at them with lasers.
Since hitting an aircraft supercruising two miles above with hand-held weaponry is almost impossible, the Berets missed. Rebel pilot then turned around for another run, this time dropping a sizable cluster bomb and synchronizing its laser turret with laser painter used by the drone, hoping to accurately pick the surviving Berets one by one.

Imperial Fighters continued to clash with their foes while Imperial Helicopters dove behind buildings and fighters inside the city began returning back to friendly airstrips or the carriers, attempting to fire unguided rockets at AA positions, or even strafe them with their autocannons as they passed.

While the fighter formations engaged each other in classical dogfight, choppers and other air transports headed for the rebel held parts of the city. Roughly thirty percent of the incoming bombers were in fact heavy lifters, all of which headed straight into an AA heavy area- an enormous civilian airport.
Imperial pilots strafing the AA positions found out that attacking a well fortified AA emplacement with a good targeting software was rather suicidal. While most of them died in vain, some areas have felt a slight decline in laser beams and flak flying around.
Bombers approached the city to some fifty miles, fired their missiles as fast as they could and turned around. Strangely, the projectiles didnt target particular buildings or unit formations- they just flew across loyalist/imperial parts of the city, warheads detaching and hitting completely random targets. Then someone noticed an even weirder thing about this 'attack'. No missile has exploded so far, they only rammed into things.

Seemingly the streets were void of any civilian's or rebels, was it that, that particular neighborhood was just deserted? Or was this all a rebel scheme for what would be their eventual downfall? Who knows, however the answers to why Rebel forces were fighting hard to keep Imperial troops in the above-ground will soon be answered.

None the less, Imperial helmets had good biochem warfare systems which would filter out most if not all of any harmful toxins. However, noticing the quick rebel retreat put some of the Imperial commanders in an errie state, and halted their main advance, telling only a company to move forward and scout the area littered with the canisters.

However Imperial reinforcements continued to arrive and reinforce lines further down the beach.

Effectiveness of the bombardment was somewhat limited due to scattered rebel formations, but if Imperials learned something from this- it's that Tsars make spectacular explosions when destroyed. Not powerful enough to outright kill surrounding rebel troopers, though.

Some Imperial F-33's were damaged by the laser barrage or one destroyed, but continued to push into effective range for their autocannons to be of use, two breaking off to engage the one dropping bombs on their friendly forces. Whom, three were wiped out by the cluster bomb itself one by the laser turret. However, one did survive by burring himself in a well hidden spot.

Imperial commanders immediately decided to begin a major offensive against the rebel held AA control building and began pushing outward in a half-sphere shape which would be seen on a real-time map. Ground troops also used the newly livable M2's to hit targets from afar before moving in and finishing off or engaging the rest. Furthermore, many units strayed away from the, ''Dudd'' missiles in spite that they might explode anyhow.

However, the story was different at the nuclear plant. At least fifteen rebel soldiers and two technical at the gate alone and seemingly another company inside. Whatever it was that they were defending must be important.

However the remaining rebels opened fire on you and were in some light cover. Luck ally there was no alarm system for the plant for intruders, but there was the obvious echoing of your gunfire. Which is likely alerting every rebel unit in the area.

How they respond, however.

Is soon to be announced.

With the rebel gate guards occupied and being overrun they continued to fight to the death while the rumbling of what seemed like pick-up trucks and perhaps an IFV or two was heard heading to their location.

The entrance to the complex was a good 100 yard sprint across uncovered ground.

Even inside the facility rebel forces waited for the Sardian arrival, with orders to protect it until what the rebels were looking for were found. What exactly they were looking for, or actually trying to get into was the launch codes for the City's nuke and furthermore the stored munitions below the complex which was made up of heavy tanks and IFV's. Have the rebels gain this equipment, they could turn this into a longer battle than previously anticipated.

However, once the squad neared the entrance it exploded into a massive show, seemingly from a rebel claymore like device, and multiple other explosives stacked up behind the door. Once the smoke cleared five rebels exited the much larger entrance firing apon Platoon B.

Three of the rebels dropped dead from the gunfire while the other two, dropped to a prone position returning fire with stolen Imperial I-16 rifles in fully automatic mode. Sending 5.62mm rounds downrange accurately at the Sardian company. While an IFC broke through a nearby wall, unleashing 25mm autocannon fire towards the platoon. Fortunately however, it as a light ITV and had little armor, mainly a Law and Order vehicle instead of the Imperial Armed Forces.

A smart precaution, but an unnecessary one- the gas was harmless. The only notable thing was that is was made of rather heavy molecules, and gravity prevented it from dispersing into the atmosphere, pushing it down towards sea level. Furthermore, it didnt even block the scanners, and Imperials could clearly see that the Rebels are retreating to positions at least a hundred miles into the continent.

Fighter performing the ground attack was noted by the nearby drone of the incoming imperials and the pilot, convinced that all berets have been killed, turned his aircraft towards the enemy and armed its forward plasma cannon. The other four split out, each changing its course as fast as it could. It was in the dogfight like this where the turreted weaponry excelled- while aircraft with fixed guns had to maneuver to aim at the enemy, those with turrets could dance around evading hits and fire at the enemy at the same time.

It was hard staying away from the wreck sites as they were littered across the loyalist held areas. Still, none exploded. Most of them didn't even have warheads to begin with.
And the Rebels fell back to the deployment areas, leaving the automated defenses to hold off the advance as long as they could.
OOC: What's so special about M2's, if I may ask? They seem to be regular SPGs... with legs.

Four rockets shot down from the room towards the Sardian platoon, seemingly from the rooftop of the Nuclear plant.

Inside:

The lights were shut off and the hallways were completely pitch black except for the occasional green glowstick the only noises was from the fighting outside and small creeks and groans of metal, coming from the left of the three surviving squadmembers.

OOC; Remember, claymores and like twelve bricks of C-4 like explosives. XD

Inside

Moments later all the hallways lights turned on, relieving that the three men inside were nearing what seemed like another elevator. Which also was unguarded. Down the rabbit hole perhaps?

Outside

The rocketmen reloaded their rockets and fired another volley towards the retreating Sardian troops thinking they have at least beat back that wave of men.

The platoons double timed it as they heard the sound of rockets heading to toward them one trooper pressed the elevator button the doors opening as the rest of the platoons arrived waiting anxiously for the doors to the elevator.

As the Imperials advanced through the smoke unloading their materials, some canisters released a small electric discharge.
Those were timed detonators, which ignited the gas, and triggered a chain reaction similar to a massive fuel air bomb.
The explosion radius was large enough to rival that of smaller nuclear warheads, and hot enough to create a firestorm, igniting even the air
in engines and lungs.

Imperial troops found the lack of warheads odd in the rebels missiles, but continued pushing into the city, taking the biohazard warning with a grain of salt, and continued against Rebel held installations.

The automated warning was activated by the product 'dud' missiles were dispersing across the city, a potent bioweapon colloquially called 'the beast plague'. While Imperials were safe in their armors, most loyalist guards became infected, not counting those inside buildings or otherwise isolated. The virus worked quickly, taking partial control over neural system and hormonal glands of its victims, making them go berserk against the uninfected humans, regardless of political affiliation. The virus wasn't lethal, and didn't inhibit basic cognitive abilities of its hosts, effectively creating a third faction competing for control of the city.
Suddenly, Imperial advance found itself in a sandwich- Rebels in front of it, and berserk loyalists behind them. While being less numerous and somewhat lacking in armor, loyalists attacked with inhuman rage and ferocity. The harbor defense crews re-activated the cannons, lasers and railgun emplacements, and fired at the docked fleet... at almost point blank range.
