Rebel firing fell down a bit as they seemingly didn't want to get ripped apart by the HMMTV's mini-guns and Sardian rifle fire.

However the roar of a couple engines could be heard down the road, alongside the shouts of about twenty men.

It would be wise to prepare.

OOC: This, for example is what a city looks like. Imagine that it is ~300 times bigger, and that the docked wooden ships are your fleet. Where would you send your planes? And how does one intercept a missile that goes 5+ times faster than sound?
Also, your radar and detection systems are having issues, so pinpointing direction from which the aircraft are coming is out of question. Speaking of aircraft, who told the Admiral about them?

MEanwhile, the battle at the control point continued.as a Platoon of Imperial Marines got close to the front door and breached through, moving on into the mysterious structure.

They were in a dark, windowless room, with an empty office-looking room on the right, a massive blast door in the front, and stairs on the left leading to yet another smaller blast door. An unusual noise was coming from below, combination of electric buzzing and diesel motor rumbling. It could be a hybrid electric-diesel reactor like those used on short ranged submarines... or something else.

Torpedoes continued to speed towards the underwater drones. While Imperial commanders thought they were submarines. Unfortunately, many of their own subs contained Imperial nuclear weapons also, which could be rather catastrophic if should be hit.

OOC: Armed nukes? Aboard a manned warship? Aint that suicidal?
IC: And the drones didn't change course. With their warheads armed and ready, it was only a matter of time when will everything go boom, regardless of who hits whom. :o

OOC: Disregard.

IC: The Marines split into their respective squads and each proceeded towards one of the three possibilities and searched for the control center.

OOC: Globe class Nuclear submarines. XD. They're not armed, but what nuke can't be activated by another one going off?

IC: Imperial Naval Air Forces continued to push against the continuous flak and lasers and all the other goodies being thrown at them while they pushed their assault, Helicopters were dropping massive amounts of depth charges to what they thought were just standard hostile subs, alongside the obvious incoming expanse of Imperial Torpedoes, which covered a good few mile line.

However, upon closer inspection the marines realized that the central part of the building was completely walled in, the only entrances being through the blast doors, and that they have penetrated only the outer shell.
Rumbling coming from below became slightly louder. Perhaps the rebels wanted to overload the reactor and take the entire quart with them?

OOC: Depends on the detonator. If the explosion somehow triggers it, it will go off (if armed). This reminds me... when I was a kid, I used to put together bunches of firecrackers with sellotape, and ignite only one. I always thought it would set the others off... but it just kept blowing them up :(

The lasers and flak were primarily used for point defense, shooting at missiles and an occasional low flying aircraft, while the longer ranged AA missile batteries focused on the more distant boogies. In case the aircraft flew in tighter formations, the warships equipped with railguns would load shrapnel shells and call upon the on board AI to calculate the trajectory, potentially wiping entire wings in a single shot.

Noticing such an effect the Marines at the blast doors decided to attempt to breach around their selective blast doors by placing explosives on the walls and the floor. (Mainly near the seam) before doubling back to detonate.

PS: Entire wings? Seems a bit OP. X'DD. //

Many Imperial aircraft that were shot down smashed into the water or into rebel vessels. Fortunately for the Imperials with the bulk of hostile fire concentrated on the air wings above, they seemingly missed the massive waves of torpedoes speeding for both the surface vessels, and the underwater drones.

In vain. While the floor and stairs in the outer part of the building were significantly damaged, the inner walls and the doors were mostly untouched.
Then, the lower door (larger one, bottom lvl) slowly started moving back as if it were going to open.

OOC: Sorted out in chat.

Aircraft fragments that fell on the sensor arrays or some other exposed sensitive systems did damage them to an extent, but long range of the AA's, tough armor and moderately wide ship formation kept the fleet relatively safe from burning kamikazes.
The torpedoes were more difficult to detect, due to their silent nature and small profile, but 'Tornikian warships were well protected nevertheless. Reactive belt armor, decoy and active seeking drones would neutralize all but the most powerful torpedoes- those with nuclear warheads.

Meanwhile, the cruise missiles were nearing the target. A lot will miss the docked ships, as they were aimed manually, but those vessels that get hit will be damaged beyond repair... and the bulk was aimed at the flagship.

Noticing their Torpedoes doing little damage against the Rebel fleet, Imperial helicopters quickened their hace on the dropping of depth charges into the sea as they continued their search to DESTROY the hostile ''Submarines.'' under the cover of the sea.

Meanwhile, back at the city. :D

Due to the rather quick nature of the hostile hypersonic missiles, they managed to effectively destroy and sink around four ships, including that fleets flagship and damage a few others. Blowing a major blow to Imperial Air support, but not completely knocking it out. Many of the still unscathed ships still had helicopters of all classifications to use when the time would seem right.

Furthermore, most Imperial units have regrouped and began to move out back into the city beyond the docks with thousands of troops pouring towards key structures and points such as airfields, control buildings and chokepoints.

Some rebels inside the build returned fire on the charging Sardian's before likely being cut down by the massive amounts of supressive fire.

But what lerked around the corner was half a platoon of heavily armed rebel infantry, and in the middle.

Another A-21 Tank.

With the two combined beginning to fire upon the hostiles.

before they moved around the corner the tank fired its main gun, smashing into the building nearest to the Sardian forces, sending bricks flying into the streets while twelve of the rebels moved into the Armory.

The tank took some light damage due to the M-9 fire but seemingly was unable to fire. Perhaps the rockets damaged inside electics or just rocked the driver into fright? Even so, Sardian's were still under fire from around and couldn't stop to investigate.

Many torpedoes and depth charges missed, but eventually a blast activated an impact detector... and as it went off, it sent a false signal to other drones that they have reached the target. A combined explosion of a dozen 1Mt strong nukes followed, sending a massive pillar of water into the air, and creating a tsunami wave. While most ships in the area will be affected only by the blastwave and radiation, eastern coasts of the empire and western shores of Miscarcand will be heavily affected.
OOC: You determine the damage done to the invasion fleet. Keep in mind that the drones are fairly deep, and that the blastwave will be somewhat contained.

With ceasefire out of the equation, rebel commander realized he would have to take the city old style, so the rest of his army urgently prepared for deployment from the base. Hundreds of transport vehicles and aircraft warmed the engines as the troops packed.
While the numbers of the loyalists and empire, and the technology of the rebels made the two sides more or less equal, the commander had an ace in his sleeve. Something that was kept hidden even from the NatGuard defenders, and the actual reason why the city they were fighting for was so important were the vast underground assembly plants and stockpiles cramped with top of the line weaponry for the professionals. And undoubtedly, the most important asset here were several thousand Tsar superheavy assault vehicles that the Imperials previously encountered during the skirmish at the media hub. Most of them were dormant, but rebels have started activating and deploying them in the defense centers under their control.

Only minor damage was done to the Invasion fleet from the wave, which mainly just lifted each ship up with it as it pasted, and managed to carry a few ships along with it for miles at a time. Once the fleet regrouped they formed a defensive position near the Rebel fleet.

However, as the wave continued to stream through the ocean the fleet sent a communication to the Imperial fleet command about the detonation and warning them of the incoming danger, which would not only damage the Empire's eastern shores, but Snowvelnia, Rototornik, Miscarcand and perhaps even NATA countries.

The hole was a foot-by foot wide and seemingly the rebels were killed by shrapnel and a shell exploding due to rocket fire.

Meanwhile, Rebels inside the Armory hacked into a .65 caibre defense turret, which opened fire onto the HMMTV's at about 700 rounds per minute.

OOC: This is an 8kt nuke. The ones carried by drones are ten times that, and there is a dozen of them. 'Minor damage' and a enormous radioactive cloud.
IC: Fending off the airborne attackers, the rebel fleet was actually pretty distant from the invasion fleet, and it was retreating at full speed. They probably wanted to rendezvous with some reinforcements, and attack the invaders again.

While Imperials mobilized and deployed fully, scattered rebel guards consolidated their positions and connected with the deployed professionals. They started activating the dormant Tsars from the stockpiles, but they were still somewhat outgunned due to the sheer number of imperial armor. Loyal guards regrouped as well, near the harbor and the local defense center. Someone finally figured out that there must be at least a dozen of the superheavy tanks in the loyalist held building- but they lacked the access codes to open the door, and their mechanics had no idea how to tamper with AI controlled supertanks.

Obviously, that squad of Marines were ultimately KIA. However, the rest of their comrades heard the firing and immediately began running for the area while simultaneously reporting that to their Company radio operator.
