sorry, no post tonight.

I had the best bourbon seared steak and potatos today. Right after, with a small lump in my gut, I said "I should walk this off, its a beautiful night!"

Mile away from house, mid walk, the pain became unbearable, it was dark out, and I drank all my water. I was a mile away from home. That's not counting the obstacles and brush in my path. I managed to get back. And there was blood, that's all I'll say.

Now I sit in my chair, just tired. I don't want to shower. I just want to sleep. No post tonight.

So instead of randomly continuing the Op with some "OHMYGASHGAIS" or "OMGDEYDEAD" plot twist, I figured Task Force Atlas is a team effort. IC and OOC. Now I'll ask you guys;

What would make this story way better? I'm not afraid to admit, that though this is our first operation together as Project: Warfighter, this is my first big-time op. And I've not been delivering to the standards I expect of myself. The ambush was not the way I intended it to go, I was not expecting that aspect, and I figure the story would be better if I was doing less risque and shock factor, and more in depth and fleshed out story. I want emotion in this.

So how can we truly make these RPs we do spectacular? They're Special Operations, and I do want us to explore more mature themes. Not shock factor and gore themes -cough call of duty infinity ward -cough- but story wised -cough- medal of honor -cough- where nobody truly is safe -cough- Gi Joe Resolute -cough-

TL:DR - Lets work together on the continuation of the story. The mercs are dead, and we need to move forward without more sluggish firefights. We need action, but story stuff too!

Okay, I've got some character development stuff I can do, but for it to really make sense, we'd probably need to (IC) move into the next operation fairly quickly (days, not months), so that developments from this operation can show rather than having been dealt with in the meantime. Here are some ideas I've been thinking of:

Leighton: Believing that command gave bad orders in the last operation, he becomes less cooperative and begins to dislike the Emmerian Leaders I'm not sure where this will go, but its bound to go somewhere when/if he disobeys a direct order.

Thomas/John/Charles: They are torn between their friend and commander Leighton and their Emmerian Commanders who are technically in charge of them.

Charles: Having faced the first clear situation where his force did not have the upper hand, he begins to question if he really belongs in the Platinum Soldiers.

I think Congrevopia's idea of having this take days (probably no more than 3) is essential and the way to go, I was hoping the same throughout the RP. The way I typically hope to do things is character building/story forming with small bursts of action here and there in between.

Out of curiosity NEC, his were you hoping the ambush would go?

Okay, so to do that we'd need to either raid and rescue the other operatives, the Disciple retreating and becoming a target in a later operation, and then we'd move onto another Operation, in which we'll brainstorm an idea for. Sound about correct?

I think that's probably a good idea. After the ambush there would probably be some need of urgency to reach the rest of TF Atlas, so we move there and maybe Disciple can make a narrow escape or something similar during the rescue. Then he's located and hunted down to wrap things up.

Well, even though I'm focusing on less than a third of the soldiers I'm RPing:

Kayora (the new grunt/medic/infiltrator) is pretty much a liberated child-soldier. As noted in other threads, she had a bunch of quirky skillsets that are of little use anymore (like, y'know, being able to plug into and interface directly with computers).

Her program was still in testing when it was abruptly canceled via Hurtian Marines knocking on their door.

Foyt (machine-gun sniper)... Has been RP'd through several of the zombie-outbreaks that seem to occur in NS with certain regularity. He's that calm professional that didn't get his rank changed all that much, but can easily be looked towards for help in a pinch.... just don't annoy him.

Gibbons ('splosions) meanwhile has some pretty big shoes to fill, as his team's new squad-leader.

What they take from what's going on?
Kayora will probably realize the wounded guy's name is Ira, that won't end well.

Foyt is likely to mingle with the sniper-teams, not in the way of dialogue, but simply being there. Otherwise he'll help track.

And Gibbons... he may start over-stepping his authority from time to time. When that fails... he'll get outside assistance.

Oh, right, and my officers tend to literally abuse the fuck out of their authority over subordinates.
*Ira may have a problem with this.

Feel free to make stuff up about the other 6 members from my team.

Alright, next post will be the Hinds taking off, returning to base, the Disciple getting ready to leave, and the beginning of Operation Olympia, where they'll rescue the captured operatives of Task Force Atlas.

Had some ideas for my team as well for once this operation goes through, since we're talking about such things:

Jolly(Team Leader): I was kind of hoping I'd bring myself to kill him off. He'll most likely be killed in this operation or the next one for my plans to come through from most of my team.

Koopa(Rifleman, Second in command/Jolly's best friend): If/When Jolly is killed, Koopa will take over the team. This will provide some issues as Koopa has never thought of being a squad leader himself, as he's always followed orders from Jolly, and the pain of losing his best friend(Their wives have lunch together at home) would mess him up and really devastate his ability to lead.

Ninja(Sniper): He's going to be pretty fine, actually. Ninja's a heartless bastard. He'll be a little upset with so many allies dying, but yeah, he's good.

Tarzan(Heavy Gunner): Tarzan will be on recovery for a while due to his few injuries, and after that will take a sense of resentment and anger to work that will maybe lead to an addiction of some sort. He's going to blame himself for Jolly's death since he assumes if he weren't injured, he could have saved the captain.

Ralph Peters(Operator): The operator of the group, and the youngest Sentinel, will find himself being transferred to field duty to replace Jolly's vacancy. He'll not only face a lot of anger from the squad as a whole for his young age, but also his recent posting as their perceived all-powerful Operator who could have saved their dead leader. Peters himself will be having fears about being in combat and will be suffering from the intense hazing from his team.

You could also just promote the Jolly bastard out of the unit.
-Or wounded and taken "off the line".

Make him a Lieutenant. That precludes them from being a squaddie-grunt unless your admin is top-heavy to the point of colonels commanding mere platoons.

He's a captain.

Ralph Peters and Koopa are Lieutenants.

Tarzan and Ninja are from the CWO area.

Cong: True, very true.

EDIT: My admin isn't top-heavy, but these are literally special forces teams that come from the "premier" special forces battalion in my special forces. It's literally this:

Military --> Sentinels --> 1st Sentinel Battalion --> Special Operations Squads 1-4

This team is the 3rd Special Operations Squad, 1st Sentinel Battalion. They're a big deal, enlisted men don't get that kind of perk.

My platinum soldiers exist in a state of equal rank to most other soldiers in the infantry, but everyone knows that if they start giving orders, you'd better follow them.

*****
Alexandria "Alexi" Sheppard was escorted to a hospital room were she was treated for basic cuts and bruises, offered water and food(which was surprisingly pleasant for hospital food) in this case rice and cashew chicken. A warm bed on one of the top floors and a nurse to look over her for the night. She was, of course, allowed to keep her equipment with her, she was still technically on duty and able bodied after all. But she got a night stay in the hospital at no charge and the rights to check on her team, being the most senior commander still able to get out of bed. As she was about to walk out the door she saw Alberto Cruz walk in ask her to sit down. He was no longer dressed in the black combat uniform, instead the elderly chap was wearing a black suit pants and blood red button up shirt, black tie and a light trench coat, also black. Dead giveaway for an agent of the Bureau of Secret Actions. Behind him two other agents stood, guarding the door. Letting himself in he turned to close the door and pulled a folder out from his jacket. He handed it to her, giving her a minute to decide what to do. Inside was $10,000 USD, and an envelope sealed with wax.

"I must regret to inform you, that you may have died on this mission, but the afterlife does offer some pretty promising opportunities. Inside that envelope is an opportunity for someone of your skill and caliber, something that only someone like yourself can do properly. By accepting, you get the 10,000 Universal Standard Dollars, this stack of $10,000 Gold Labors up front(he pulled a tightly wrapped roll out of another pocket and tossed it to her), an additional $400,000 USD after completion, a new identity and freedom to go wherever you would like, as long as it is no longer within the Federation of Mokastana. If you accept, we will declare you dead this moment and take you and your equipment to a waiting helicopter where you will begin. If you refuse, well, let's focus on the future shall we?"

***

Xha'ki Jev'kan Sei'lo'ae (Nickname: Zakh)

Zakh woke up in a hospital bed, head slightly fuzzy from the previous events, IV drip in his arms and some of the newest medical equipment he knew of surrounded him. At his bed side sat one of the Federal Agents, dressed in the same black on red uniform Alberto wore. He waited until Zakh was fully conscious before beginning.

"Thank you for your service out there, you and your team did quite well, given the circumstances. Now pretty soon a representative from Montana Securities will be here to begin debriefing you, so I just wanted to make sure all the facts were cleared up. First off, your team captured Niko Worton, congratulations, a little beat up, but we can forgive that, he is still of use to us. Montana Inc will receive payment for him shortly. As for the capture of Ricardo Cortez, mid level family member of the Cortez Crime family, the price is half a million living, $100,000 dead. Seeing as there is no body however, just fingerprints and dental records, the records might be hazy on which way he was caught. My understanding is that with bonuses like that, Montana Inc takes half, then you can split the remaining half between the team that did it. Seeing as only about half your team made it out alive, a three way split on a quarter of a million dollars is quite nice. Could take care of the family for a long time on that money, maybe take a miss on a cruise through the Mokan Caribbean. Maybe retire from these dangerous missions, get a nice fancy desk job and always be home for supper. You would be amazed how far a recommendation by the MBSA can get someone in Montana Incorporated.

However, it does seem as if your friend Alexi did eventually die of a bullet wound she got getting into the helicopter, I don't know how much you remember when you waited for us to get on board, but I am sure you remember seeing Alexi wounded. Right next to the wounded but living body of Ricardo Cortez, your giant bonus check. It is possible the drugs in your system threw your memory off, but I believe that is what happened."

Taking a minute the agent sat up and took a short breath, looking over Zakh's reaction to the information the agent just threw at him.

"I hope you understand what I am saying. It is much easier to correct the records at the beginning than to go back and change them at a later date. Make the easy choice, enjoy some time off."

Promoted to death, then threatened her CO with "an obscenely large rusty spoon".
