In a recent poll, 89.9 % of current natives support Rutthenia ruling the lands. "We would be more glad to reside in a free, democratic nation than some oppresive communist nation!", said Franz Schneider, a protester. Following the threats made by Caecilius, Austeja Norbutas has stated that "The German, Dutch, and Belgian people are happy with us. We can't just kick 'em out if they support us." The natives have been given full Rutthenian citizenship.

Heavy fighting erupts in Vietnam:

After initial successes, the advance has been halted by a self organized Vietnamese defense forces. Well equipped and motivated, as well as skilled in jungle fighting, they have successfully locked down several regiments in a week-long battle. Air power and heavy armor are all that stands between the vanguard of the Tornikian invasion, and a crippling defeat. As reinforcements hurry to help the surrounded troops, floods of new recruits are filling the lines of the outnumbered defenders. (support for vietcong, anyone?)

CORNUCOPIA, F.D. [00:00 AST] Last night, after a close election for the President of the Albul Council, the new President of the Albul Council Rafael Melendez has decided to directly confront Rutthenia. His first command as President was to "nuke those [expletive deleted] Rutthenians!"

Seconds afterwards, those orders traveled down to Gallia Minor, at the Northern coast and at the Southern coast. An experimental nuclear bomb, named B.O.O.M. (Ballistic Operational Occidental Missile), was launched from a base in eastern Gallia Minor late at night. The scientists claim that the missile was headed to Berlin. Now, the scientists are looking for ways to rename the bomb O.O.P.S.

As part of the weapons-transfer program from Albul to Gallia Minor, the North Atlantic is filled with nuclear-powered submarines that fire nuclear-tipped missiles (SLBM), as well as bombing planes that can drop atomic bombs. Given the order from Melendez, it is suspected that these missiles fell heavily on Rutthenian cities and harbors. Albuli troops, along with Franco-Albuli volunteers, raided several towns near the borders of Rutthenia.

Caecilius, interpreting the President's command as a signal to begin total war, also sent orders to the Sicilian Submarine Blockade to launch all their missiles at Italian Slovsko and to navigate to the coast and capture as many enemy citizens as possible. Caecilius barked out orders from the Sardinian airbase to bomb the Italian islands north of Sardinia and to "show no mercy".

In Albul

The Maritime Defense Committee, after much investigation and interrogation, found two Bolkanian submarines in the Pacific Ocean, near Albul. Overstepping their line of command, the MDC has sent troops to either crush or disarm the submarines without Bolkania's knowledge. These happenings were not published to the newspapers until recently, perhaps to prevent outrage and paranoia.

Meanwhile, threats of a Bolkanian atomic bomb have resurfaced in the Albuli media after Melendez's statement. "Our fight for humanity has lost all humanity. We build weapons and weapons, for what? To defend against those Bolkanian [expletive deleted]? If they want to bark, let them bark, but if they bite, it will be because we bit them first. As a joke, Melendez signed the Strong Teeth Act which ensured better standards of toothpaste and dental care in Albul and Gallia Minor. "If any other nation ever threatens us again, we will have the courage to bite back!" he joked.

Oscar the Great, a local celebrity of Quito, who is known to foresee future events accurately, foretold the death of Albul and humanity. "Oh, ye wicked men in the Council! This used to be a fine country at peace! Need you destroy it over a game of war? Verily, verily, I say unto you, that if you send even one bullet into Rutthenia, then Bolkania, Tornikia, Hetalia, Akrotirum, and all the nations of the world will condemn us. The times have changed, and we have changed along with them," he yelled wistfully. He then collapsed to the ground, as was expected in his ritual. After some questions from the locals, Oscar warned everyone to head deep into the jungles, where Bolkanians could not bomb the locals of Quito for at least three weeks after its aggression. "We need to buy as much time as we can. Bring only the necessities, and some construction tools if you have any. We will need to build shelter from the bombs and shelter from the radiation. I cannot yet see if the Bolkanians will send any nuclear weapon but I know they will respond to our aggression in Europe. We are better off safe than dead. We must build fallout shelters, like in the days of old." Afterwards, a mysterious man, suspected to be of Bolkanian origins, shot Oscar the Great. The city of Quito is outraged at Oscar's killer, for Oscar helped locate the missiles in the Pacific. Oscar paved the way for peace in the Albuli Civil War. Oscar led Albul to victory in the Great War.en created the world, so it seemed. Oscar discovered nuclear fission and helped Albul build the first atomic bomb in the world. Oscar even created the world. Oscar was seen as a trustworthy prophet by the people of Quito. Now, the 300 million people living in and around Quito have fled deep into the jungles, looking for protection from Bolkanian threat. Albuli officials dismissed this behavior as lunatic and erratic, claiming, "Quito has nothing to worry about. They are near the border to Akrotirum and Bolkania would not be foolish enough to attack their ally."

HASEMARZ, RUTTHENIA [13.20 GMT] Today, the Rutthenian Parliament has announced the formation of three Federal States in the newly acquired areas in Western Europe. The Federal States are The Lowlands (The Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg), Alemania (Rutthenian-Acquired Parts of France and Southern Germany), and Germania (Northern and Eastern Germany). Ruins in Rutthenia

PARIS, GALLIA MINOR [09:00 GMT]: Pilots and reporters have confirmed their worst fears. The missile, BOOM, has landed in Munich, Germany, leaving few, if any, survivors. A quick survey of the land would easily distinguish the ruined state of Munich from its former state. "Oh, Munich, my Munich," lamented a German, former resident of Munich. "I would go around the street and see all the people valking up and down. And now you see dem, all dead in the ground!"

Munich is the epitome of the conflict of Europe. The border towns between Rutthenia and Albul have experienced heavy destruction as the conflict rises. Franco-Albuli citizens had asked the President for military aid and later they promptly received tanks and troops. After several missiles, tanks, and bullets, the Albuli troops have advanced into southern Germany, leaving millions of casualties.

With a glance into the Slovskan coastline, one can see panic as the Albuli submarines surfaced onto Slovskan beaches in Italy and took hostages, as well as bloodshed when Albuli planes bombed the Slovskan islands to the north of Sardinia. The effects of the nuclear tipped SLBM's has yet to be noticed.

OOC: *cough* It's really only Bolkanian-Tornikian military. Slovsko has an immense paucity of military resources.

Also, Sardinia is not defended by you... dammit. I already claimed it and there was no issue about it. If you're going to bring up issues, I will bring up the damn issue of land-grabbing that's been going on here. It's as if "Look, I moved in troops and they settled" is a reasonable enough claim to just take over a land... completely disregarding any potential sedition, any potential defenses, any potential hardships. This RP would have been three times more interesting if people would invade land in more than one post, like my invasion of Sardinia and France. Then, people would have a chance to react and maybe intervene, as usually happens. However, since Hetalia completely left out my "invasion" rule and pretty much disregarded the most updated version of the rules (which are currently being modified), all this stuff is legal. :/

So, perhaps landing subs is suicide. That's pretty much what my nation needs in this RP, where anyone can claim land with a one-liner. "Hetalia annexes this", "Rutthenia conquers that", "Rototornik expands"... these all resonate with another RP where everyone was "claiming land like Albanians" (ie, "Honeydew expands"), which is the reason we had restrictions on invasions and annexations in the first place.

This RP has gone past ridiculous, where even Bloodia, the least "corrupt" in our group, followed suit with the rest and annexed lands in Canada. Somehow, the people with strong militaries post as if their militaries were always at war (I am guilty of this, too, but I keep my nation at war and wait a while before posting numbers). I suppose it would be practical to have 5 million troops defending an island if 1) the island was a strategic position, 2) you were at war with someone who can easily mobilize their forces to that position, 3) you shifted your nation to a wartime government and economy, 4) had sufficient military resources to pull it off, and 5) had an efficient mobilization system.

Again, I agree that I, too, am guilty of oversizing a practical military force (10 or 100 million to invade a peaceful France), but I redeem myself, I believe, by providing a step-by-step invasion of France, even gaining allies and whatnot. This last nuke post, you can either react to it or take it as a grain of salt. I overkilled, and I did so deliberately. BERLIN, RUTTHENIA [19:00 AST]: For the first time in Albul, a mobster is revered. Don Alfred Caecilius himself went to Jana Vielkas, in an attempt to persuade her to join the Albuli alliance. In the meeting, the Don claims to have seen several men guard the Chancellor, but the Don had several more, including private bodyguards, private assassins, black op soldiers, and government intelligence operatives. His stark and dark offer has gained the respect from the Albuli community, despite Don's origins as a mobster. The Albuli Council has now given Don Caecilius legal immunity from punishment. It is thought that Don Caecilius has ties with Commander Caecilius. (OOC: Those are just the things he said in public )

At the time of this clandestine meeting, Albuli troops dashed further to the northeast, using the same tactics used in France to conquer Germanic Rutthenia. Only this time, with more dire "persuasive techniques" that are classified.

Cities have been cut off from water and food as the soldiers shell down the cities. This, along with the use of flamethrowers on crops and sometimes on humans, have caused uproar in Germanic Rutthenia. However, PSYOP troops and intelligence agents have convinced some Germans that the Rutthenians had cut off supplies to defend their main territory. This "information" has led some Germans to sympathize with Albul and has caused a split among the Germans, to create an Albuli faction and a Rutthenian faction.

Albuli intelligence officials have also gained access to the design of the Rutthenian army's uniform. With this information, the some troops within the Albuli invasion force have dressed up as Rutthenian soldiers in order to break the morale of pro-Rutthenian Germans.

Lastly, after the attack on Rutthenia, and with the classy mobster becoming a national celebrity, an old song has come to capture the Albuli spirit. Edit: You do realise Sardinia and Italy was heavily defended by Slovsko-Bolkania-Rototrnik? Attempting any military OP would be very costly on your behalf, and trying to land a few subs on shore is certainly going to be suicide.

Also, Sardinia is not defended by you... dammit. I already claimed it and there was no issue about it. If you're going to bring up issues, I will bring up the damn issue of land-grabbing that's been going on here. It's as if "Look, I moved in troops and they settled" is a reasonable enough claim to just take over a land... completely disregarding any potential sedition, any potential defenses, any potential hardships. This RP would have been three times more interesting if people would invade land in more than one post, like my invasion of Sardinia and France. Then, people would have a chance to react and maybe intervene, as usually happens. However, since Hetalia completely left out my "invasion" rule and pretty much disregarded the most updated version of the rules (which are currently being modified), all this stuff is legal. :/

So, perhaps landing subs is suicide. That's pretty much what my nation needs in this RP, where anyone can claim land with a one-liner. "Hetalia annexes this", "Rutthenia conquers that", "Rototornik expands"... these all resonate with another RP where everyone was "claiming land like Albanians" (ie, "Honeydew expands"), which is the reason we had restrictions on invasions and annexations in the first place.

This RP has gone past ridiculous, where even Bloodia, the least "corrupt" in our group, followed suit with the rest and annexed lands in Canada. Somehow, the people with strong militaries post as if their militaries were always at war (I am guilty of this, too, but I keep my nation at war and wait a while before posting numbers). I suppose it would be practical to have 5 million troops defending an island if 1) the island was a strategic position, 2) you were at war with someone who can easily mobilize their forces to that position, 3) you shifted your nation to a wartime government and economy, 4) had sufficient military resources to pull it off, and 5) had an efficient mobilization system.

Again, I agree that I, too, am guilty of oversizing a practical military force (10 or 100 million to invade a peaceful France), but I redeem myself, I believe, by providing a step-by-step invasion of France, even gaining allies and whatnot. This last nuke post, you can either react to it or take it as a grain of salt. I overkilled, and I did so deliberately. In case your northern neighbor withdraws its weapons of mass destruction from Europe and the Mediterranean, the need for bases at Galapagos will cease to exist. However, we acknowledge the need of Akrotirum to expand, and establish bases that would project its military might further- and to prove it, we offer you full sovereignty over the disputed archipelago, but ask for permission to establish a stronghold on one of the islands in the said group.
