A piano that has been preserved since before the Great Nuclear Disaster has arrived in the Emirates, as of today.

The piano, which is made from the very rare ancient Minecraftian rosewood, has been revered for its melodic beauty as well as its pristine condition. Just weeks after radio contact was lost with NCON Prime, the Onzaian government took part in an effort to preserve cultural artifacts in the incident of destruction, and this piano - which is believed to currently be the oldest, playing piano in the world - was one of the top priorities.

The instrument's destination is the soon-to-be Presidential Palace in Akhmis, though it will frequently tour the nation, and possibly even the world at some point.

The first person to play it upon its arrival was Sultan Barakat Zaman of Aqqak, where it originally arrived. Before it arrived in the Emirates, it sat unattended in a warehouse outside of the walls of Khorammabad, Maledictoria. The Maledictorian government "expressed no interest in maintaining the piano, and thus were willing to give it to Onza," noted Mansur Yasin, the leader of the group that volunteered to professionally move the piano.

The instrument traveled exclusively by a truck across the loosely-paved desert paths, and required tuning and pitch elevation upon arrival. However, it can now hold a tune, and has a life expectancy of "about a few more centuries, if preserved properly," according to Hassan Boulos, an expert on pianos and the long-lost harpsichord. "I'm surprised how well restoration efforts went. I know, however, that if the piano were to be damaged externally, then hope would be lost for repairing," Boulos added, referencing that the instrument is made of a now-extinct form of wood that was reserved only for the luxurious.

"Nevertheless, it's a beautiful instrument. I can only hope that it is properly cared-for for many decades to come."

Religious toleration bill passed
Midgar,46566- A religion bill formally passed the house of lords today. The bill promised toleration to all religions on Enkon. While religion is not a huge issue within the Grand Duchy the government fills that it might be a issue to other nations. This bill will protect rights of tourists and also opens up the country to other religions coming into the country. The bill will give any major religion the same rights as both Shinto and Buddhism has within the Grand Duchy. The bill is expected to be signed by the Grand Duke in the near future.

Grand Duchy moves to recognize Mare Solis
Midgar,46566- Both houses of the Grand Duchy has set in motion a treaty recognizing Mare Solis as a country. The resolution also mentions that the houses wants to open official ties with the country. Unlike previous governments the country does not need Grand Duke agreement to send a ambassador and one has already been dispatched to the Mare Solis capital of Valencia del Sol.

Midgar,46566- The Grand Duchy has officially applied to join to the proposed limited defense treaty between the Grand Dominion and Mare Solis. By apply to join and if accepted this would give the grand duchy two partners in the south eastern area of Enkon. The treaty would give two bases to expand trade into the region of Enkon. With both Mare Solis's position and the Grand Dominions position they sit nearly in the middle of the countries in the south east parts of Enkon.

UNITED REALMS PROPOSES GLOBAL COMMUNICATION CABLE NETWORK

MARIA — The Council of Realms Ministers of Infrastructure are proposing the creation of a Trans-Mare and Trans-Continental cable network to establish communication links between the nations of Enkon.

The UTR will begin laying modern* tele-communication cable between all the maritime parts of the country including between Athretvari and Anthropolia. The Council of Realms Ministers of Infrastructure has expanded the scope of the project at the behest of Wicko Prime Minister Drew Henré, who hopes to have cable laid between Wicko and several other Mare states including a direct link with the Creeks, and links with Mare Solis, the Grand Dominion and Ajerrin. Other proposed links include a direct cable between Ajerrin and Athretvari, another between 46566 and Athretvari, and another between Anthropolia and New Santiago. Altogether the cables would form a near world-wide communications network.

Nations interested in working on the project and establishing the cable linkages should contact the Athretvar Foreign Ministry. Nations are also encouraged to consider independently and jointly expanding the network, particularly on the continent.

The Council of Realms Ministers of Infrastructure believes 46566, Itharion, Onza, and Maledictoria are best suited to coordinating and establishing the continental network and should work together on the project.

WICKO’S CENTER-RIGHT CONSERVATIVE UNION CLAIMS VICTORY IN POLLS

SAINT JOHNS — Wicko’s ruling Conservative Organization party has declared victory in parliamentary elections, promising deep economic reforms.

The margin of victory will see Conservative Organization of Wicko (COW) leader Maurice “Moo” Beau Vine become prime minister as Wicko embarks on massive economic reforms aimed at aligning its economy with the rest of the United Realms.

Pollster Cool Wip-It! said Moo and the COWs had won 58.8 percent of ballots cast on Tuesday, which under Wicko’s electoral system would translate into around 5,704 seats in the 9,701-seat parliament.

"No one has had such a day," Vine told cheering supporters in his hometown of Port Saint Louis, according to a Jeihdpfohin news agency report. "My goal is not to make Wicko rich. My goal is for the people of Wicko to live better," he said.

The COWs forced the snap election after just 18 months in coalition government with the Socialist Party of Prime Minister Drew Henré, saying his government needed a strong mandate to overhaul Wicko’s shaky finances and economy.

According to Cool Wip-It!, the Socialists came in second with 14 percent, securing about 1,358 seats. Their worst showing in two decades.

The rest of the seats went to the pro-welfare and environmental Neo Democratic Party.

Tough Reforms

It was one of the most convincing victories by a “pro-Maria” party since Wicko joined the United Realms.

In his victory speech, Vine pledged to vigorously fight against Wicko’s notoriously high corruption and crime, and revive the Realms largest economy in the nation of about 9.7 billion people.

"We are facing tough reforms," Vine said. "But, I am sure that Wicks will soon live better than they are living now."

Turnout was about 52 percent, slightly less than during the 2655 parliamentary election that brought the Conservatives into power as junior partners in Henré’s coalition government.

The vote came as Wicko, a longtime democratic-socialist country, is seeking greater economic integration with the other realms of the UTR and nations in the region, amid simmering social discontent because of its relatively low net wages, being only 16% of the UTR average. Economists sight Wicko’s insanely high taxes as the key negative pressure against the economy.

Vine says he needs a strong mandate to carry out painful reforms needed to help Wicko’s economy, which has been ravaged by decades of political mismanagement, rampantly high social and welfare spending, and corruption.

The opposition has accused him of seeking to introduce what it calls a Maria-type leadership in Wicko by assuming dominant powers in the state to adjust the economy, which is deeply split between rising pro-industry and strong traditional pro-welfare-pro-environmental interests.

The lines will tie the Western Confederacy together and a direct line to both Mare Solis and The Grand Dominion.The lines will be laid out that 46566 will have a direct line to Itharion. Another line will have a straight line between Maria and the Sino-Creek Commonwealth. Also planed by the Grand Duchy is connecting Szarthja with the 2 other UTR territories of Harpantania and Vericritina.

The additional trunk lines will help ease the usage of the other trunk lines in the UTR proposal.The Grand Duchy also would like the GA take control of the lines after they are built and for them to issue communication standards for Enkon as a whole. The purpose of this is to make sure that communications cannot be blocked by any power at any time.

The temporary government of Onza released a statement today indicating that they are "disappointed" in the World Assembly Census Reporters for what they say is "clearly a mistake."

According to the latest census report, compiled on 21 March 2660, Maledictoria is ranked 2 in the region for the most extensive civil rights, whereas Onza is only ranked at 6.

"We are very disappointed by what has to be a mistake. We have contacted the World Assembly's offices in hopes of getting to the bottom of how exactly they determine the amount of civil rights a nation offers," a representative from the government said. "We aren't asking to be ranked number 1, but we at least want these people to consider the crimes against humanity that Maledictoria has committed."

The representative refused to comment on exactly what crimes he was referring to.

While there has yet to be an official theory released, expert on World Assembly analysis J'Davion Mekh suggested that the High Sultanate had bribed the World Assembly:

"This is the sort of thing that I've never - and I literally mean never - seen happen, but I'm quite sure that this time, they accepted a bribe. Either that, or they get some rare boost because their tourism is so poor and they're still a relatively neonatal nation."

Mekh stressed that the World Assembly has a perfect record, but that Maledictoria had some un-before-seen influence over the analysts.

Other theories range from somewhat credible to wild and bizarre, such as that from Nekhun resident Anwar Mu-ali:

"I think it's very clear what is happening here," he said, "Maledictoria and Onza jointly planned this animosity simply so that they could have an excuse to launch an unjust war and throw us all in prison camps." Mu-ali, whose unusual name is the result of his own doing, is also the author of the popular book, How to Locate Your Missing Keys, and Other Important Memoirs.

"All I know is that this is one big mess that needs to get sorted out ASAP," said Presidential candidate Deavion Malikei. "Onza is but one nation in the vast pool of those that are members of the World Assembly."

The World Assembly declined to comment at the time of this writing.

Midgar,46566-The Grand Duchy is disappointed about the signing of the so called Global Alliance or GA for short.While having a treaty with all of the initial countries agreeing to the treaty the Grand Duchy was left without the say in the development in the treaty. The government was not even aware that such discussions were taking place on Enkon. The Grand Duchy is deeply disappointed on this oversight and question the functionality of such a treaty without one of the two superpowers in the region.

While the government is okay with such a organization existing the government wished to have at least been given a notification that such talks were happening and at least have been offered a chance to discuss it.At this time there is no official stance on the Grand Duchy joining the GA or not.Odds are that with the Grand Duchy friendly with each nation rumored to be involved with the Global Alliance the country will join the GA after the initial agreement period.

UNITED REALMS BEEFS UP MILITARY IN EFFORT TO PROTECT ITS NEUTRALITY

MARIA — The realm governments have agreed to a new Federal Defense and Security Policy (FDSP), overcoming weeks of disagreement over the union's future defense programs that many politicos had described as contentious.

Arguments are said to have erupted over the dual missions of the federal government's foreign and defense policy. While Kihra Junigka continues to stress that the United Realms will maintain a strict neutrality, she has also been advocating that it won't take a back seat in Enkon's affairs, nor allow its neutrality to be mistaken for military weakness by adventurous nationstates.

She went on to say, "We will work with each of the world's emerging alliances in establishing a stable international order and alleviating disputes between nations pacifically."

Analysts however contend that the government in Maria has been locked in a bitter internal struggle over simultaneously proclaiming neutrality and the desire for a peaceful world order while also drastically increasing the UTR's defense capabilities.

Political opponents have compared the policy to one taken by the pre-Great War government on NCON Prime as it began pulling away from IDCA. "Before the Great War, the UTR had become a rogue power, unbound by any alliance philosophy. Ultimately it left the Realms with few allies, but many enemies. Prime Minister Junigka risks setting the Realms following that same path if she commits the UTR to a purely independent foreign and security policy," said one opposition MP on condition of anonymity. "We need to explore reestablishing our old alliances, if only to keep Maria's ancient demons from resurrecting themselves."

The new Federal Defense and Security Policy, however, holds true to the Prime Minister's goal for an independent military capability. It outlines the UTR's proposed defense development over the next five years and calls for dramatic increases in the defense budgets of each of the thirteen realms with particular attention being paid to strengthening naval, air and special forces, and establishment of a coastal radar and electronic communication network across the UTR territories. Grand Duchy looks to join the Global Alliance
Midgar,46566-The Grand Duchy has decided to apply to the Global Alliance.The application was given under the condition that the proposed UTR communication lines be placed under the control of the GA. The Grand Duchy has also asked for a discussion of a Enkon Bank and a global monetary fund. The following ideas were forwarded to the original 4 nations in the GA. This will lay the hopes of the 2 proposed economic parts of the Global Alliance.

While unfinished the basics are generally what the Grand Duchy wants to have added to the alliance.At this time it is unknown if the application will be accepted. The Grand Duchy wasn't asked about joining the Global Alliance disscussion.

The United Realms will agree to the Global Assembly managing the Enkon Global Cable Network, but we believe that—

The GA should control only the "international" and "thru-traffic" cables, not cables that directly link parts of a single nationstate or union of nationstates, such as the United Realms,
There should be four types of cable classifications: National, International, Thru-Traffic, and International Link.
National portions should be under the control and management of the nationstate they are in or link parts of, as these portions are meant primarily to serve the citizens of that nationstate communicate therein.
International portions go through international territory or the high seas (not territorial seas or economic zones) linking different nationstates. These cable portions should be under the control and management of the GA with the nationstates being directly served by the portion having primacy (veto) over that portion's management.
Thru-Traffic cable portions go through a nationstate but are primarily meant to transport telecommunications between other nationstates. The host nationstate gets primacy (veto) and is allowed to use the cable at local rates.
International Links are links between two or more nationstates' national networks. These should be left to the nationstates involved, unless they decide to let the GA control it, since it only serves them. These do no apply to Thru-Traffic cables when they go from nationstate to nationstate, because they aren't considered part of their host nationstate's network.
An Enkon Telecommunication Organization be established as a specialized agency within the GA secretariat to manage the GA's portions of the cable network, with all cable-participating nations making up its Executive Council. The UTR requests the seat of this agency be in Maria, Athretvari.

Reports that the Athretvarian delegation sponsored a working paper for an Enkon Telecommunication Org has been confirmed today by the UFA Ambassador Samantha Powers at a press conference today. “The Athretvarians are looking for additional sponsors to help send the WP to the Floor for a vote. The UFA has looked into the potential of this WP and plans to co-sponsor the work,” Ambassador Powers said. “While the WP still needs to be discussed with the other nations, we feel this is a strong start to progress.”

The Ambassador also confirmed the Grand Duchy’s request to be the first state to join the Global Alliance after its inception. The Ambassador highlighted the process for the Grand Duchy to gain approval. “Membership in the Organization, in accordance with the Charter of the Global Alliance, ‘is open to all peace-loving States that accept the obligations contained in the Global Alliance Charter and, in the judgment of the Organization, are able to carry out these obligations’. States are admitted to membership in the Global Alliance by decision of the General Assembly.”

Ambassador Powers assured the press that the procedure for review is underway. “This issue is ultimately decided by a majority vote in the Assembly, which should occur soon,” she said.

Low-lying areas of Waimea faced extreme flooding conditions today after two-straight days of torrential downpours due to Hurricane Noah.

Local forecasters have confirmed these levels have not been seen for over 300 years, back in the days of Emperor Grosbard’s reign. Parker Ranch received over 5 inches, flooding out most of the cattle pastures in the North.

Waimea City received over 10 inches today from Noah, with forecasters suggesting another 10-12 inches left to come. As Hurricane Noah seems to stall our in the northern region of Lahui, the State President has declared a State of Emergency and the Federal Guard has been placed on alert to provide assistance.

Grand Duchy urges unified action
Midgar,46566-The Grand Duchy has asked the GA to a unified stand with itself against the Humanitarian problem within New Santiago. With the recent news of the slavery problem not beaning overturned the Grand Duchy urges a international Embargo be placed on New Santiago. The Grand Duchy also wishes that they be left out currently of the proposed communication array. The Grand Duchy proposes a meeting to discuss possible sanctions against the country. There have recently been some talks within the Grand Duchy parliament in favor of creating a free Santiago territory were ethnic Santiago could live free and separate from the government. The Grand Duke has stated that the use of force is not a option at this time but could be in the future. The Hopes are that with a economic burden will force New Santiago to change it's policy permanently.

Dominion accepts invitation to GA

The Grand Dominion Parliament has finally voted on the proposal to join the General Assembly of Enkon. The result, 80% yes. The main arguments in the month long debate dealt with national sovereignty the Dominion. At first many in Parliament were against the proposal due to the fact that many felt it would be an overpowering league of nations; however, with bitter debate and reassurance from other nations that the GA would not be a league of nations that would create laws that would affect the Dominion’s sovereignty, many sided with the proposal. The Dominion hopes that the new GA will be effective in establishing strong international laws but also know and respect the dignity of member nations.

The Grand Duchy restates ts position on slavery
Midgar,46566- With the recent statement of the New Santiago government of reintroduction of slavery for extreme measures. Slavery has been formally abolished within the Grand Duchy for at least 500 years. The government will not recognized New Santiago slaves as property and will welcome anyone who claims to be a New Santiago slave. Any New Santiago ship that comes into the Grand Duchy territorial or economic waters will be seized and the New Santiago citizens on the boat will be removed from the ship and kicked out of the country. If they claim that they are enslaved then they can request asylum from the Grand Duchy government and may eventually be granted citizenship.

Grand Duchy requests a Western Confederacy meeting
Midgar,46566-The Grand Duchy has asked the members of the Western Confederacy to meet in Maledictoria to discuss formally embargoing New Santiago goods and agree to not sell goods to the country. The embargo will be a total embargo on every and all goods going to and from New Santiago. The hopes are that this will severely hurt the New Santiago economy and force them to abolish slavery totally.

Global Assembly Unanimously Approves 46566 Into Alliance

Global Plaza, New Hope - The founding Ambassadors of the Global Assembly met today to vote on 46566’s request to join the Global Alliance.

The Ambassadors unanimously believe 46566 is a peace-loving state and will accept the obligations contained in the present Charter, and be willing to carry out those obligations upon signing Charter in New Hope.

The Global Alliance has invited the leaders of 46566 to sign the Charter in Global Plaza, New Hope in the near future.
