Grand Duchy Agrees to mutual non aggression pact
Midgar,46566- The Grand Duchy has agreed to the proposed non aggression treaty with the UTR government. The Grand Duke himself will make a return trip to Maria to sign the treaty himself and to discuses the issue of lowering tariffs among the two powers on all goods. This trip will look to balance out the political scene on Enkon.Recently the balance of power was shifted with the arrival and formation of the Greater Arcadian Reich. This move will ease tension among the two nations.

Grand Duchy looks to buy Foreign Bonds
Midgar,46566-To promote economic growth around Enkon the Grand Duchy of 46566 has issued a statement that it is willing to buy foreign government bonds to stimulate growth around Enkon. This will mark at least publicly of another nation willing to buy foreign bonds on either Enkon or prime. The Grand Duchy will place a cap of 500 billion Euros to buy the bonds. At this time it is unknown who would be willing to agree to this. The nations within the Western Confederacy has the right of first refusal in getting the loans.

The Silent Wars Part 3

Postby Mare Solis » Tue Apr 29, 2014 7:41 pm

The Silent Wars Part 3

After a rendezvous with a anonymous former JSOC member, Adelmo Rios travels to the Balaeric Islands to meet with a high ranking Communist Party of Solisia (CPS) member. Rios finds himself in the city of Barcelona & Belleza, the provincial capital of the Balaeric Islands. He meets with Ignacio Servantes, the General Secretary of the CPS. Servantes expresses safety concerns over his party members & including PAS members. Servantes believes that a high ranking SAF member is responsible for these killings & believes that President Roland de la Cruz is indirectly involved. He then talks about a recent assassination of a close associate named Alexander Martínez, a member of the Politburo committee. Since the start of this secret conflict, he has been forced to station PAS soldiers in front of his house. Servantes says that Martínez was at Catalonia when he was assassinated. Unlike the killings of seven Solisian citizens affiliated to the CPS, this assassination was committed in pure day light and among witnesses. During a late morning, Martínez was on his way too his office when a silver sedan turns near Martínez and a man on the passenger seat opens fire upon him, instantly killing him. Servantes then expresses that he's confident that President Roland de la Cruz is responsible for these killings.

After listening to Servantes, he meets with his final informant in the mainland of Mare Solis. The specific location is disclosed & so as he's identity. The anonymous man informs Rios that he's a former Special Intelligence Service (SIS) agent and has been longing to express his opinions as these random Astinian killings are building up. Same with Servantes, he has confidence that President de la Cruz is responsible for these killings. Since the CPS & the PAS are growing influentially at a fast rate, President de la Cruz feels threatened by the growth of the CPS & has decided to take the murdering option to eliminate competition.

Even though Adelmo Rios was successful in collecting all these accounts, he wasn't unscathed. Earlier in the year he was interviewed on the SBC International News, on his views regarding the Astinian murders. Once Rios expressed his views, his perception was quickly attacked by host & featured political guests, de-crediting the investigative journalist.

HIKUPTAH BEGINS MASSIVE FORTIFICATION OF LUKSZOHR AFTER ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT ON PRIME MINISTER

LUKSZOHR, HIKUPTAH — A masked assailant believed to be associated with the Hraasz Liberation Organization, a self-declared separatist group in the southern realms, made an attempt on the life of Hikuptah Prime Minister Farro Hramsziis using a semi-automatic pistol while the prime minister lunched at The Coconut Lounge, a famed Lahuian restaurant in Lukszohr’s posh Marina District.

The Coconut Lounge, Lahuian Bar & Restaurant in Lukszohr’s Marina District, scene of Wednesday’s assassination attempt against Hikuptah Prime Minister Farro Hramsziis.

The assailant initially evaded authorities, but was quickly captured by members of the Lukszohr Police Department and the Capital Division of the Hikuptah Realm Security Services which swept through the Marina District with urban assault helicopters and armored personnel carriers within minutes.

The prime minister was taken to Lukszohr’s Ara Antilia Haahn Memorial Federal Hospital nearby in the city’s Capital District. He is reported to have sustained only minor injuries of scraps and bruises inflected while he was being protected and taken away from the site of the incident.

The assassination attempt prompted the realm’s government to call an emergency meeting of its High Realm Council, which moved forward with an ambitious and controversial defense plan called the Capital District Defense Initiative proposed by conservative member Elizabeta Hern from Sinuhe in April of last year.

The plan is being labelled by Prime Minister Hramsziis as part of Hikuptah’s commitment to come in line with the United Realms new Common Defense and Security Policy (CDSP) which calls for significant upgrading of the defense forces and capabilities across the union. The policy contains specific provisions for strengthening what officials in Maria view as weak-links or holes in the UTR’s overall defense and security posture. One such weak-link identified in the CDSP was the posture of Hikuptah’s defense forces and overall security. The plan is expected to be approved for federal assistance under the CDSP’s Joint Defense Infrastructure Fund.

Said Robin McAlpin, Hikuptah’s Minister of Waste Disposal and Sanitation when reacting to the assassination attempt and the High Realm Council’s approval of the Capital District Defense Act, “[W]e need to … reinforce the Parliament! [And] … turn Lukszohr into an impenetrable fortress! Robot bodyguards, food tasters... no expense should be spared! We should all do our jobs through a complex network of computers so we never have to leave the safety of our offices again!"

Besides calling for major construction of fortified government and infrastructure the government identifies as “vital to national security”, the plan calls for the investment in advanced robotics and food processing regulations and enforcement measures. Nearly 15% of the plan’s overall budget is tagged to upgrade Lukszohr’s telecommunications and computer network, including upgrading and expanding the city’s wireless coverage to cover the entire main island.

Communist Party of Solisia Rises, President de la Cruz Tremb

Communist Party of Solisia Rises, President de la Cruz Trembles

Image
"Not one step back!"

In response to President Roland de la Cruz's Silent Wars, Ignacio Servantes, the General Secretary of the CPS, has been rallying support for the Communist Party of Solisia (CPS). After the exposure of the Silent Wars, President Roland de la Cruz image has been diminished, and is viewed as a mass murderer & dictator. Servantes is outraged with President de la Cruz's actions & has mobilized the People's Armed Service (PAS), the military branch of the CPS. General Felix Leon, the general of the PAS, has activated the PAS' North Áfrican forces & is currently in a standoff between the Solisian Armed Forces (SAF) in Tucsón Bay, the provincial capital of North África.

In response to the mobilization of PAS forces, President de la Cruz has ordered the mobilization of the SAF and is now on deployment status. The President still continues to deny that he was part of the Silent Wars. Hundreds have gathered around the capitol building protesting. Many people, such as the Solisian public & political analysts says that impeachment of President de la Cruz should be on the table.

Image
PAS soldiers in North África

Their are many opinions upon the subject. A large majority of Astinians side with the CPS. A split in the Solisian population is either pro de la Cruz or pro Servantes. Servantes expresses that the murders of CPS & PAS members is "unforgivable" and has ambitions to topple down the President. So far, Servantes has excelled in rallying support for the CPS as large groups of people are chanting "Not One Step Back!" on the SBC International News.

Even though both the PAS & the SAF are both flexing their military might towards each other, many military analysts do not believe that the PAS has the capability nor the manpower to overcome the SAF. As of right now, the PAS only has land capabilities, limited air power and no sea capabilities. The SAF has air, land, & sea power, that has a large budget & large manpower. In addition, the SAF can call support from the Mare Solis Space Corps (MSSC) if any support is needed.

This has been one of the most negative points of history for Mare Solis, as the whole nation is divided into President de la Cruz's federal republic & Servantes' communist party. It seems as if a civil war is imminent.

McNernian Settler Life

Postby McNernia » Thu May 01, 2014 11:24 am

Southern Islands
Settlement 30 of Fleet 2

The sun came up over rows and rows of pre-fab houses that formed a settlement of some 59,000 people on this distant Island, the Empire flag flew over the Assembly hall, the place of Governance for the colony, in total 700,000 People lived in this place, on this island, the settlement did not have a name yet but the people were fine with that for now.

The Market place was full of people, another day had begun here in this new fishing villiage. Children attended the local school and people went to work.

Plains Settlements

Life on the plains was quite different from the life in the islands, people who had lived in cities had to get used to the space. Children ran in large fields, Nobles purchased large amounts of land alongside the simple enterprising man, out here it was different. You may have people in your employ or it may be your family. The McNernians were determined to eke out a living, spring and then summer, good for planting and well, the farmers had been well equipped with the latest harvesting equipment, orchards were planted, Apples and Oranges and Nuts, Vines also to produce wine. The soil was good here.

Herds of cattle grew and brought money to ranchers who sold them for meat in the markets, high-speed trains connected towns and cities delivering passengers and freight, aircraft also flew between cities that dotted the landscape of this new Kingdom of McNernia.

An Ancient Returns Part I

Postby Moarfall » Thu May 01, 2014 9:33 pm

A small, circular, black probe about the size of a softball was ripping through a hole in spacetime. The drone it was launched from sat hundreds of miles from it in slipspace, motionless. The probe falls into real space in the middle of an asteroid belt. It quickly registered all incoming signals and began saving them all. It gathered enough data to form a complete map of the system, and much more. It accelerated after a few hours of waiting. A spot shimmered in space and as soon as the probe entered it, the shimmering died away in an electric blue flash.

The probe docked with the drone and the drone began to drift off. The pair exited slipspace and returned to reality light-years away, above an old gas giant with two moons. They instantly began transmitting. A massive warship slowly appeared from around one of the moons, drifting in it's orbit and then breaking away, silhouetted against the sun.

The ship sent out 5 more drones, which all entered slipspace simultaneously, in different directions. The ship lumbered on, gaining speed. Soon a shimmering appeared around the ship, and the ship seemed to twist and roll into a bend, sinking into space itself, disappearing with an electric crackle.

"It is an undeniable and may I say fundamental quality of man, that when faced with extinction, every alternative is preferable."

Power is shipping goods, giving speeches, moving armies, conquering lands, discovering planets, bending space, and exploring the universe.
True Power is being able to transform the world and universe around you using your sheer will. Your words and your stories are your will here and they shape the world. A word in a speech can be more powerful than a bullet in battle here. It depends on how you wield it.
Power is attained through your words and in turn your actions. Your words are left for the world to see and because of that; your power and will are immortal.

The United Democratic Emirates of Onza
The first Presidential debates have begun, and the candidates' response has been transcribed into text and posted below. Each candidate was given as much time as they pleased to answer each question and debate.

Host: Thank you all for tuning in to tonight's first presidential debate of Onza. The first question is for you, Mrs. Raisa. With the temporary government recently deciding to make education a right, and thus free to everybody, some have begun to challenge whether or not this is actually a good idea. What do you say to those who are planning on attending college, and haven't set aside money because they were expecting it to be free?

Sade Raisa: Thanks for the question. First off, let me say I'm so grateful to be given the time to speak on the issues that are affecting millions of Onzaians all across the Emirates. As I've said before, and as was highlighted in my voter portfolio, I'm a center-right candidate. The Liberal Party nominated me, and I'll gladly say that their recent party stance on this issue reflects mine, as well. While education is a great thing and has a lot of potential, I feel that an excessive amount of our tax money goes into funding higher education. A whopping 28% of our tax money goes to education. What's worse is that a lot of these students who have unlimited access to higher education are abusing the system by going to college and getting degrees in things like Art, Cosmetology, Philosophy, and Music Appreciation. I don't mean to put down the careers in these fields, especially since we are a cultured nation, but really? Why does it take a college education to do some of this stuff? The government should have a program to encourage studying things like Engineering, Mathematics, Sciences, Law, and even Sociology so that we have less strain on the tax system as well as a more practical population. We're abandoning a gold mine here if we just pay for thirty year old Danji to just one day get up and go study Music. I think that once voters see the difference in their pay stubs, they'd definitely agree.

(Applause)

Host: Mr. Solomon?

Jamaar Solomon: Thank you. Now, I don't really agree with Mrs. Raisa on a lot of things, but she does raise some interesting points about education. While I think primary education should still remain free and extensive, there's some room for requiring payments to study at a University. Of course, as my colleague just said, the government could subsidize students who have a bright future in practical fields like Education, Engineering, and the other things she listed. I think a conversion to a government ruled by a Pharaoh would help oversee this transition, because then Pharaoh his/herself could evaluate the students that would receive the government subsidies. Of course, a democratic voter base is important, and should the constituents decide that they like free public education, then I'm obliged to comply with their request.

(Applause)

Host: Mr. Lamar?

André Lamar: Thank you. Unfortunately, I disagree wholeheartedly with both of the previous answers, because they both imply that education is not a right, but a privilege. As a former professor, and somebody who's been to college multiple times and heard from international students how expensive higher education is elsewhere, I believe that education is, indeed, a right. I find it interesting that society has always followed a trend that is now being threatened. In the beginning, governments struggled to keep their citizens alive. However, when technology advanced and guaranteeing one the ability to live became prevalent, the right to life was established. Whenever government gained the ability to protect its citizens' right to speak freely, it made the freedom of speech. For reasons that aren't entirely clear to me, though, now that we as a people and a government have the ability to provide education all the way up to the highest level to every single person in the Emirates, instead of following the past trend and making it a right protected by law, we have a new group of people - most of whom, might I say, are either wealthy enough to afford higher education, or have already been educated themselves - that is opposed to this. Instead, they call something as basic as being able to access the knowledge of our historical achievements a "privilege." If I were President, I would say to those upcoming students, "don't worry, because free education for all is here to stay."

(Long applause)

Host: Mr. Boulos?

Jamal Boulos: I agree with Mr. Lamar on this issue. Our current system of education has led to us recently being ranked 2nd in the region in terms of smartest citizens. If we continue expanding our programs, then we'll be on our way to the number one slot. If we have the ability to offer education to our people, then we should do just that. I agree with Ms. Raisa in the sense that we need to allow citizens to get more out of their paychecks, but I don't believe that cutting something vital like education - in all forms, might I add - is immoral and against our nation's strong ethical code. I would also say that art is a perfectly viable means of study, and to exclude it - or any major for that matter - is cruel to those whose dreams are embedded in obtaining an education in these majors.

(Applause)

Host: Rebuttals, Ms. Raisa?

Sade Raisa: I feel that when Mr. Boulos speaks of our nations "strong ethical code," he neglects to remember that it is our hardworking population that has allowed us to offer such extensive services. Sure, in an idealistic world, it would be absurd for us not to provide free education, but we have to live in reality.

Host: Boulos?

Jamal Boulos: I'm quite aware of our world not being entirely idealistic. However, as André and even Mr. Solomon stated, it is possible, and thus it needs to be done.

Host: Okay, we want to have time for some more topics. Let's move on to something that has been pressing many voters - the establishment of a military. We'll start with you, Mr. Solomon.

Jamaar Solomon: Well, in order for the Sultanate system to work, we need a military overseen by the Pharaoh. A strong military is a good way to bring discipline to the population, as well as keeping them safe and secure. I'll admit that military bases, guard depots, and other military installations in civilian areas tends to be interpreted as a decrease in liberty, but with a government by the people, the military should be by the people as well. I don't believe in drafting unwilling persons into the military, however. The way it would encourage membership would be through special advantages - perhaps reduced taxes, or some other means of positive consequence in return for serving the Emirates. No international body is going to defend us whenever it's that international body itself that is oppressing our people. Furthermore, Onza must be made independent of the international community, while still interacting with it.

(Applause)

Host: André Lamar?

André Lamar: In the past, I've expressed that I don't really think that the debate about a military is that significant. A simple glance into history reveals exactly what racing to have the largest military causes - thermonuclear destruction. I propose this question to Mr. Solomon - a man whom I respect dearly - what do you think is going to happen if the international community were to actually be the aggressor against the Emirates, as you suggest could happen? Even if our military was large enough, and we destroyed their armies, what would we have accomplished? Military victory is only an establishment of temporary peace, and temporary peace is just time to prepare for the next war. Our conflicts can be solved through the international community and diplomacy, and if it doesn't seem to be working, then we're doing something wrong. I don't support a military for public order. We already have an extensive police force that handles all of that with high efficiency. We have a very low crime rate, and homicide is virtually unheard of. I just don't see the need for a military.

(Applause)

Host: Any response, Mr. Solomon?

Jamaar Solomon: Not at this time, sir, no.

Host: Okay. Mr. Boulos?

Jamal Boulos: This is an issue I've always been split on, but with Mr. Lamar's rather eloquent description, I think my stance has been solidified. The calls for a military are virtually unfounded. Especially with trying to cut back on the public sector some, a military would just reverse progress on the issue, and a military of the private sector is certainly out of the question. The establishment of an organized international community, in addition to our large police force, is sufficient to protect our nation. There is no room for expansion, I feel.

(Applause)

Host: Ms. Raisa?

Sade Raisa: I hear the calls that our people are making for the establishment of defense, and I can only imagine what they're going through wondering if our nation is even secure. Of all the things Onza gives its people, it can't even provide security. Not only is our police force lackluster - it's not even close to being large enough to be considered an organized militia. We need to get the people out of office who think that every single form of violence is bad and take back our ability to fight back! And -

(Loud applause)

A - thank you - and I feel that until we take the bold step of toughening up, our nation will get treated like the doormat at the Global Alliance HQ. It is high time that we put ourselves on the level that our neighbors like the United Federation and the United Technocratic Realms are on and train a military that can support our international needs. This, ladies and gentlemen, is where our tax money should be going. Things that are worthwhile and deserved to our people. On the issue of a draft, I'll say that I don't necessarily believe in one, other than during times of mass conflict where fighting has moved to Onzaian soil.

Host: Any rebuttals?

André Lamar: I find it rather ironic that you champion lowering taxes, but then you turn around and propose that we spend billions of dollars on raising an army large enough to conquer the planet.

(Loud applause)

An organized killing machine is not something that our tax money should be investing in. It's not something that any money should be going into, I think. Our weight on the international community will not be affected negatively by our lack of a military - but our reputation will be reduced drastically when we become the symbol of barbarism and violence. If we focus our tax money on things like science, education, and healthcare, then we will eventually have those nations spending billions - trillions, even - on a military beat in terms of human development. As a matter of fact, Onza stands in the top 99 percentile in the world for human development, and being able to say that is how we earned our respect with the international community rather than by brute force, I think, is one of the greatest achievements our nation can earn.

(Applause)

Host: Unfortunately, we need to move on to the next topic - and boy is this one divisive. With a growing divide on how the Emirates should harvest energy, many have begun to call for the disestablishment of the government tycoon on energy. We'll start with you, Mr. Boulos - what do you say to these people?

Jamal Boulos: Let me say first that I'm an environmentalist in the sense that most of the Emirates's citizens are environmentalists. I believe that we should preserve our environment, and our atmosphere, by taking advantage of clean, renewable sources of energy rather than harsh, nonrenewable ones. However, people see this issue as a black-and-white dichotomy, when really, there're plenty more options available for the Emirates. For example, with how far our nation has come in technology, we have developed concentrated burners that reduce the amount of air pollution that is emitted by burning oil by up to 50%. That means we cut the air pollution from these things in half. What many people don't know is that if we used these burners, and we only burned enough oil to power half of Onza's power grid, it would be hundreds of years before any permanent damage plagued the atmosphere. Now, you may be thinking, "Well, Jamal, what happens after that?" By then, I would reply, we would have bought ourselves hundreds of years to invest in energy alternatives that are inexpensive and very reliable to permanently make Onza energy-clean and have an abundant - if not infinite - supply of energy.

(Applause)

Host: Ms. Raisa?

Sade Raisa: I've never experienced a power outage. Out of all of the years I've been alive, I've always had electricity wherever I went, whether it was windy or not windy, sunny or dark, high tide or low tide, summer or winter - I've never been without electricity. I love being able to say that. However, Onza's exclusive dependency on renewable energy is digging us into a hole of which we cannot dig ourselves out of - debt. The amount of money we invest in these clean methods is ridiculous when you compare it to how little we could spend if we would just relax some of our strictly negative views of burning coal and oil. These things don't have to be inherently dirty! As Mr. Boulos said, there are methods out there to make these forms of energy cleaner to the point to where the environmental impact would be negligible. However, the one thing voters would notice would be how much more of their own money they get to keep, as well as how much cheaper their consumer needs are thanks to a decrease in sales taxes. We need to stop giving these practical solutions to the energy problem such a bad name, and open ourselves up to more forms of alternative energy. Then, slowly by surely, we can begin turning it into a competitive business, we will find ourselves with cheap, clean electricity generating our economy money.

(Applause)

Host: Mr. Solomon? We haven't heard from you in a while.

Jamaar Solomon: Yes, thank you, host. Well, I don't think there's much more to the issue here than what one can pick up at base level. You see, we don't spend that much money on energy at all. It is not even ranked among Onza's greatest expenditures. On top of this, it is entirely clean, with absolutely no environmental footprint - with the exception of dams, which have harmed some habitats. This is not the place we should be cutting funding. Under the Pharaoh system, which I've already pointed out would totally cut the "administration" expenditure out of our budget, we would have a motive to continuously research in favor of making sure we are using every form of clean energy in the cheapest, most efficient way possible.

(Applause)

Host: Mr. Lamar?

André Lamar: It pains me that people think that they would be happy if we burned fossil fuels. Admittedly, since they haven't lived in a nation where fossil fuels are burned, they haven't had the experience, and with people like Ms. Raisa and even Mr. Boulos on this issue spreading the dangerous message that burning coal and oil are even possible routes, this trend of thinking that "one simple change can save a lot of money" is growing - and that's not a good thing. We need to be realistic, here. The current system is very affordable, very clean, and very efficient. People are looking for a solution to the excessive burden of taxes, and when they hear the idea that simply changing how we produce this energy will change the cost drastically - of course it's going to attract supporters. As President, though, I would not give any of the energy industry over to the private sector, nor would I ever support the burning of fossil fuels unless it could be explicitly proven that they had absolutely no effect on the atmosphere or public health. Until this drastic milestone is reached, I'm in favor of keeping the current system that we have, which is providing clean and reliable electricity.

(Applause)

Host: Okay, onto a big issue that wasn't covered in the portfolios. Let's talk foreign policy, starting with you, Mr. Boulos. Are there any nations that Onza currently has relationships with that you would like to stop?

Jamal Boulos: I think that this is a tough one. I favor a government that does not meddle in the affairs of other nations, so we should not be funding aid packages or programs to other nations - especially those who haven't done anything for us. I'd say our top foreign policy priority for the time being should include reducing dependency on trade from the nations of Ajerrin and Athretvari. There is simply no need for this trade, I feel.

Host: Mr. Lamar?

André Lamar: This one isn't that difficult for me - we need to expand our foreign policy mission statement to include building stronger relationships with every single nation on the planet. It's a tough task, truly, but we as a people should value people of other nations, and recognize their importance to ourselves. We should try to avoid conflict with other nations at all costs, and we should continue building relationships with the likes of the Grand Duchy, the United Federation, the Arcadian Colony, the United Technocratic Realms, and all of the other nations that we are still in the process of meeting and exchanging diplomatic missions with. While our first focus should be those that are technologically advanced, we shouldn't be too specific in establishing strong diplomatic ties with every nation of the region.

(Applause)

Host: Ms. Raisa?

Sade Raisa: I favor a policy of being friendly to everybody that we encounter, with the sole exception of those nations who threaten our way of life. I don't believe that we should send them free money, of course, but inexpensive diplomatic missions garner a positive reputation and construct a good image for the Emirates, which is what we really need. Some things supersede the need to save money, and I feel that our relations with other nations is one of them.

(Applause)

Host: Mr. Solomon?

Jamaar Solomon: I agree with Mr. Lamar in that we should be expanding our foreign policy to be a very friendly one that is geared towards gaining favorable status with every nation on the planet. However, I feel that there is one nation that nobody is really talking about that is a big issue right now - Maledictoria.

Host: I'd hate to interrupt, Mr. Solomon, but we're going to Maledictoria next.

Jamaar Solomon: Okay, in that case, I will announce my support for expanding our foreign affairs program. It is very important that Onza embeds itself into the international community and that the other nations develop a respect for the Emirates.

Host: No room for rebuttals there, I'd say. On to our last point, Maledictoria. A rogue group of natives who broke from the original Onzaian population and headed south have established their own High Sultanate. Mr. Solomon?

Jamaar Solomon: Well, as I was about to get at a second ago, I think that we should try to learn a few things from Maledictoria. Their people may not be the happiest, but that doesn't mean that we can't learn from their style of leadership. They face a lot less bureaucracy thanks to them having a single, High Sultan, is the executive authority over the whole government. This is favorable for the Sultanate Party, since this indicates that such a system may not have such terrible repercussions. Though, I do formally condemn Maledictoria's non-democratic approach to the appointment of the current High Sultan, Abu Ali II.

(Applause)

Host: Ms. Raisa?

Sade Raisa: I think Maledictoria is the epitome of fake democracy and a perfect example of a dangerous, unstable nation. Really, I'm surprised it's been allowed to join the Western Confederacy as well as the Global Alliance. You would think these bodies were formed specifically to prevent bands of crazies like these from growing out of the sand, but that apparently didn't happen. As President, I will call on all of these international bodies, as well as our friends, to sanction Maledictoria. It is the only way to ensure that justice is done.

(Applause)

Host: Mr. Boulos?

Jamal Boulos: While Maledictoria is definitely an example of a sham-democracy, it is in no way dangerous. Sure, they have a decent-sized military, but they lack organization. An entire military precinct is their form of a fort - Fort Suleymanshakhzi - which is a sign of military disorder. That's not to mention that they recently enacted a series of initiatives that indicate preparation for combat readiness, but these initiatives don't seem to have any clear payoff.

(Applause)

Host: Mr. Lamar?

André Lamar: I feel that a diplomatic approach to Maledictoria is the best type of approach. If we work with them to meet their demands, then we can eventually see the establishment of a disarmed, legitimately democratic state. We have to potential to befriend an ally of similar culture, yet here are, the Presidential candidates of the Emirates, talking about how we would deal with them, or how we would watch them fall. I don't agree with that sort of approach at all. We should really work towards improving relationships with Maledictoria.

(Applause)

Host: Thank you everybody for watching tonight's debate. Elections are right around the corner, and we hope this broadcast has helped you make your decision!

Thaddeus Demeter to Spearhead Human Rights Policy
Kommisar Thaddeus Demeter has been appointed by Uberkommissaraußenpolitik Rickart Stern to represent the Mandate at the Human Rights Summit which is currently underway in Onza. While the Arcadian Imperial and Colonial Governments both refuse to agree to any blanket treaty enforcing human rights on the levels proposed it has been made clear that the government does intend to discuss the subject with the international community; Thaddeus Demeter, a veteran of the Charon War and the Scourging of Katos, is one of the highest ranking diplomats assigned to the Diplomatic Corps of the Mandate and has been authorised to negotiate an agreement with the international community which will prevent any trading restrictions from being place on Promethius Prime as a result of human rights issues.

"It the earnest hope of the Colonial Government to establish workable trading relations with the nations of Enkon and we are prepared to discuss the subject of human rights in Promethius Prime in a public forum. However we are not prepared to go against, nor reverse, very clear Imperial Directives relating to the matter. We will of course listen to the concerns of these other nations, but at no point will we be reversing our current government policies, nor shall we surrender our own sovereignty on the subject of the rights of our citizens." Said a government spokesman from the office of Oberbefehlshaber Motako this afternoon, "It is not that the Reich has an ideological objection to Human Rights as a concept, but rather that we as a people and a society hold ourselves to a different set of values; as every Arcadian knows, colonial or no, there is a strict social contract that everyone born to the Reich is entered into - this contract grants us our freedom and personal liberty, but if we abuse those things and break our contract with society then it follows that or freedom, our liberty and our rights are forfeit."

"The Arcadian Social Contract is a product of the Reich's long history. Arcadians have not always lived so richly, nor is such a state of societal balance such as the one we presently experience - history tells us that prior to Konstantin I, who authored the great social contract, our society was riven by corruption, decadence, infidelity and crime. The Arcadian Reich was in a state of near perpetual collapse as our institutions rotted from within; the motherland even surrendered its outright control of the colonies and provinces and we regressed into a culture of decadent and corrupt savagery." Was the response of Professor Erin Katuse of the Arcadian University of Arcados when the subject of Human Rights was put to him; "Only through the Social Contract and its ruthless enforcement by the great emperor Konstantin I was the Reich restored to glory. It took us hundred of years of civil strife and war to eradicate the last vestiges of that debased culture and we remain vigilant and ruthless in the enforcement of the contract to this day in order to prevent future regression to the bestial past. What these nations of Enkon have yet to realise is the dire need for such a system if the ideal state is to be achieved."

Seneca Corporation Wins Contract To Connect All Major Cities in Promethius Prime, With Hyper-Speed Rail Links
Image
Official Logo of the
Seneca Corporation.
The Government has awarded the contract for the construction of a major hyper-speed mag-lev rail link between the major cities of the Mandate to the Seneca Corporation which won with its proposal which included designs for entirely new technology making the rail link unique to the Promethiun Colony. Though no large scale examples of the technology to be used can presently be witnessed in use elsewhere the government declared itself 'suitably impressed' by the proposals and the designs which stood up to military testing. Several other corporations attempted to win the contract including the monolithic ZetaResh Corporation which already holds contracts for road and highway construction as well as steel production.

Work is scheduled to begin at the end of the month with convict labour brought in from offworld being used for the earthworks while military reservists provide the rest of the unskilled labour. Seneca employees and contractors will then follow these work teams to perform the vital skilled tasks. In this manner Seneca hopes to complete works on the entire rail network within 15 years. The link itself, once completed will be able to transport passengers and cargo from Maeringrad in the north to Arkograd in the south in a mere three days (a day and a half without stops) and is expected to have a massive maximum capacity with multiple lines running parallel to each other providing a rapid and efficient service.

GIC Approves Construction of Major Space Ports in Nova Nozetskaya, Jakocz and Altensch
With only Arkades and Vierne housing space ports large enough to handle heavy offworld freight the Government Infrastructure Commission has approved the construction of an additional three to provide complete coverage to all major areas of the colony. GIC personnel will be constructing the ports rather than contracting out the work to private corporations; this decision was made by Oberbefehlshaber Motako in order to ensure both quality and compatibility with government craft.

The Nova Nozetskaya space port will primarily handle freight; the small island chain upon which the city is located are used for large scale fish farming as well as deuterium synthesis in vast offshore facilities and is in dire need of its own space port to efficiently transport its produce offworld and to other parts of the colony. Jakocz meanwhile will handle freight, civilian passengers and military traffic to support the colonisation effort; the eastern city is a minor producer of deuterium and tritium, but its major exports are mineral ores and rare earth metals which are in high demand offworld. Altensch in the south will fill much the same role as the Jakocz port, supporting the efforts to populate the vast southern plain and develop the local agricultural sector; it will also provide a major transit hub for the the produce of Arkograd, Nova Pilzen, Zenonberg and Stahlwerks.

Construction is due to begin at the end of this month and will be completed by the end of next year.

The Wachans have lived on Enkon sense the beginning, We have not been recognized as a nation till now. We firmly hold the lands of our for fathers, no man can challenge us in goal of uniting all of the former empire of Kar from the days of old. We are a free people who will not bow to any king, we choose our own rulers through the powers of democracy. These foreigners from the outer worlds have brought many new things to our people and claim this world for the self's. Weto there power for now bow for them in exchange for there technology.

Emirates Condemn United Senatorial Republic

Postby Onza » Tue May 06, 2014 4:17 pm

In a surprise news conference today, speaking on behalf of the temporary government of Onza, Sultan Sa'di 'Isam of Aqqak announced the Emirates's condemnation of The Wacha's claims to McNernian land.

"While we are currently making acquaintance with the United Senatorial Republic, and we are aware that they are good people, we simply cannot remain silent while tyranny threatens to be reborn into our planet. The Emirates urge the international community to act quickly to defuse the situation, and recognize that the United Senatorial Republic's claims to McNernia's land are baseless," the Sultan said, adding that "as a civilized region, we cannot say that because one's ancestors inhabited land at some point that the land is rightfully the property of the nation claiming heritage."

The government took a strongly anti-Wachan tone, with 'Isam stating that "The sole nation at fault here is the United Senatorial Republic, for the Kingdom of McNernia has done absolutely nothing other than exist." However, the representative did maintain that he "wanted relations with the Wacha," and that he still does, but that "we (Onza) simply cannot endorse the heinous acts of land grabbing that the nation is taking."

One comparison, however, surprised many listeners:

"It would almost be like if Maledictoria, noting their roots being in the Emirates, decided that by right of ancestry, our land belongs to them. It is a primitive, barbarous, uncivilized waging of war all in the name of land."

While many argued that the Sultan was making a fair point, some pointed out that the comments are unnecessarily inflammatory towards the High Sultanate. The temporary government did not respond to requests for comment on that particular statement.

Servantes' Communist Party & de la Cruz's Federal Republic at Breaking Point

Image
Two PAS gunships & PAS soldiers patrol the Tucsón Bay outskirts

Tucsón Bay, North África - As more time passes both de la Cruz's Federal Republic & Servantes' Communist Party relations strain, as more and more Solisian Armed Forces (SAF) troops arrive in Tucsón Bay and more People's Armed Service (PAS) soldiers gather around the outskirts of Tucsón Bay, the capital of North África. Although no shots have been fired towards each other, blood has been spilled. A small militia group who is known to be "pro de la Cruz" has commenced a series of guerilla warfare attacks on PAS installations. So far thirty-six people have died from these attacks. Parallel with the PAS' engagements, the SAF has been suffering from sporadic gunshots from "pro Servantes" groups in the city of Tucsón Bay.

Even though the SAF has all the tools to eliminate the PAS, one thing PAS soldiers have is a healthy morale & dedication to their leader. Ever since SAF soldiers took up arms against the Communist Party of Solisia (CPS), morale & support for their President has dipped. An anonymous SAF soldier says, "Ever since the Silent Wars was exposed, i've lost all confidence in President de la Cruz. And there are many men & women in the SAF who feel the same. But if war begins we will be forced to fight Solisian citizens, due to our oath we took before basic training".

For the past week, PAS soldiers have been attempting to draw fire from SAF soldiers in order for the Solisian military to commence the war. PAS soldiers have been traveling on open top trucks and driving past SAF checkpoints and firing blank ammunition towards the SAF troops in order for SAF troops to respond with their own firepower. Due to these tactics many Solisian citizens name Servantes a "warmonger", but Servantes states that he fights for "justice".

We came from a Destroyed planet to this place, we have dug into the soil and there are no ancient ruins and no bones of a dead Empire. What is this Kar Empire but dust in the winds of mad folk who dwell in a Republic ruled by a Senator. Not a president or Chancellor, who are these people that they would let a Senator hold all the power when they are tasked with the representation of the people.

They threaten us with war and demand territory that we have occupied under the law of nations but I am one to ask, what will you give us if we give you the hexagon you have indicated?

To the Honorable Great Senator Anthony Zeal II and Senatorial Member John Kenny of The Wacha:

The United Federation of Ajerrin respects the histories of all nations. However, the UFA cannot condone nor support your claims to lands that have been settled by the people of McNernia for decades.

As a member of the Global Alliance, we are determined to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war, which many times in our past has brought untold sorry to mankind. We must respect each others' sovereign borders as we would respect our own.

Despite our differences in opinion on this matter, the Federation wishes to create an open dialogue between our nations and would like to exchange ambassadors to learn more about each others nations and customs.

Sincerely,

President Kolia Ali’iloa

An Ancient Returns Part II

Postby Moarfall » Tue May 06, 2014 10:32 pm

The giant warship was barreling through slipspace, racing towards the coordinates registered by the drone. It soon warped into regular space, in the shadow of the gas planet. It immediately opened it's massive hangar doors, and a small fleet emerged from the belly of the beast. Immediately it began transmitting.

To all Nations of Enkon;

//This is the MSC Kronos, flagship of the Civilian Fleet. Moarfall is alive, and upon our ships. We will be landing on the Northwestern corner of Enkon, and there we hope to coincide peacefully with you all once again. Our 5 other fleets will be scraped as a sign of trust and for resources. We are open to all diplomatic offers at the moment.//

5 other massive warships warped into existence around the planet, and all began traveling towards Enkon. The ships began powering down all non-essential systems, including weapons. Soon they were all in orbit and powered down almost completely. The MSC Kronos drifted away and began letting transports send down construction crews.

Onza Calls on Other Nations to Follow Federation's Example

Postby Onza » Wed May 07, 2014 4:38 am

"The United Democratic Emirates is very proud of Ajerrin for its initiative and timeliness in refusing to condone The Wacha's barbaric acts of imperialism. We hope that every other member of the international community will follow in its footsteps," said Sultan Sa'di 'Isam, speaking on a conference call with reporters.

'Isam also added that the government would likely cease to comment on the occurrence until further events unravel, as the Emirates draws close to its election day. "Do not expect another surprise announcement such as this one unless The Wacha acts with violence," he added, noting that the next time a news conference is held, it will likely be the new President speaking, rather than a temporary government representative.

"The international community should continue to work with both parties to ensure that this dispute is resolved with no violence," the representative concluded.

The Motakograd Initiative Is Approved By The Imperial Government
Oberbefehlshaber Ai Motako's proposal for the expansion of Promethiun territory into Administrative Hex 0528 has been approved by the Imperial Government. The detailed colonial proposal was made to include the peaceful annexation of a small string of sparsely inhabited islands in the Mare Titanus to the west of the Mandate's mainland colony, with the eventual intention of construction large deuterium extractors and synthesiser on sit to supplement the colony's existing facilities in Nova Nozetskaya and Nadestograd. The ultimate plan is to integrate the tiny local population into the Reich and offer them employment opportunities in both local facilities and those on the mainland; the Oberbefehlshaber made it clear that though military forces would be being deployed to oversee the annexation and ensure that it takes place smoothly, the operation was not considered to be a hostile one. She made the following statement:

"It is not the intention nor desire of the Mandate to invade or go to war with the local population of the islands in Administrative Hex 0528; I am personally overseeing this entire operation to ensure that the local people are treated fairly and with the respect they deserve. Our operations on the islands will bring economic development, education, law and opportunity to the the native population and they will all be offered the chance to become full colonial citizens with the same rights and duties as any other person within the colonies. I have consulted numerous experts on this matter and all assure me that the potential quality of life and economic improvements will benefit everyone living on the islands."

The 3rd Expeditionary Fleet was sent out from Port Ullich this morning with a small complement of soldiers and large teams of civil development personnel on board and will reach the islands to establish the Motakograd settlement in approximately two days; the settlement itself will be confined to a relatively small section of the largest island and colonists will only be allowed to move freely within it and the outlying facilities which will later be constructed so as to cause minimal intrusion on the lands and homes of the native population. A significant Humanitarian Cadre has also been dispatched to see to the needs of the impoverished islanders while the settlements are built and to try and slowly integrate them into colonial society. If successful the Motakograd Initiative will be the first of many similar projects undertaken on nNkon in order to secure the economic future and prosperity of Promethius Prime.

The Hyper-Speed Rail Line Connecting the Colonial Capital Nova Arkades with Vierne is Completed Ahead of Schedule
In our previous foreign dispatch KamNet announced that the Seneca Corporation had been award the contract to construct hyper-speed rail links connecting all of Promethius Prime's major urban centres on the mainland. The project has subsequently seen its first major success with the most important link, that between Nova Arkades and the second city, Vierne, being completed two weeks ahead of schedule. The two link means that a single rail line each way is now open making it the first hyper-speed rail link to enter service in Promethius Prime; however construction has yet to be completed on the additional lines of the link, meaning there is only a single set of operational rails in each direction. As it stands the link is capable of handling 20% of its eventual total capacity between Nova Arkades and Vierne, which at this time is reserved for commuters only.

The Seneca Corporation announced in a press conference this afternoon that it expected the Nova Arkades-Vierne link to be brought up to full capacity in another two weeks, by which time the first line of the Nova Arkades-Magdegrad link will be complete. A spokesman from the government who was at the conference had this to say: "The Colonial Government is very excited that this link has been completed so efficiently and having reviewed the work and the projections we can safely declare ourselves satisfied with the progress made so far and the rate at which progress continues to be being made. The Seneca Corporation has very much lived up to our expectations at this stage and continues to have our full support. The investment of additional convict labourers has definitely paid off and the Government has approved a further investment of labour for the completion of the additional lines. This infrastructural policy rests at the very heart of the Motako Administration's development policy."

((ooc: Boosting SciAdv Index))
The Bio-City of Sombrey Has Been Completed
Despite lengthy delays due to technical difficulties the Bio-City of Sombrey has been completed and passed its initial government inspection today. The Bio-City was designed to be an environmentally sustainable city capable of producing significant quantities of food, clean air and clean water with minimal negative environmental impact. With contaminated water being processed though radiation and pollution absorbing plants brought in from offworld and contaminated or polluted air being processed through special bio-domes the city serves as a single monumental filtration system intended to help clear up industrial effluence and offset the environmental impact of facilities such as Stahlwerks.

The original aim of the Sombrey Bio-City Project was to create a city which also served the colony's agricultural needs while maintaining a significant urban population of its own; to this end special hydroponics and aeroponics facilities were drawn up for maximum space efficiency, however when the Environment Agency pointed out the huge environmental potential of the project additional facilities and technologies were incorporated. The trees and plants brought in for cultivation from offworld require very particular conditions in which to flourish and filter out radiation and carbon pollution so large bio-domes had to be constructed in order to facilitate the correct atmospheric conditions; the soil on this part of Enkon has proven ideal for the cultivation of such plants, especially since the construction of nearby Czerniy left the soil contaminated.

It is hoped that the bio-city will serve as a prototype of sorts for future cities in the colony; similar cities and facilities exist elsewhere in the Reich, but this is the very first to have been built on Enkon and the government has announced its intention to offer to share the technologies and design plans with other nations in order to preserve the planet in the long term.

Protection force sent to Countriopia
Midgar,46566- A protection force has been sent to the former second republic of Countriopia. The mission is to stabilize the country after the fall of the second republic. The plan at this time is that the Grand Duchy will look to implement a monarchy within the country and the ruler would be a distant cousin of the current Grand Duke. The process is expected to take 6 months or a year to complete. It will take the force a couple of weeks to both reach the country and to regain control of the country. Only 2 mobile infantry divisions are being sent along with a division of regular infantry and a around 20 kingdom tanks. Also being sent is transport ships and naval support.

DIspatch Regarding the Mcnernia-Wacha Conflict
The Government of Promethius Prime recognises the sovereignty of both Mcnernia and Wacha, however cannot blindly accept the demands laid down by the Wachan Government. Territorial disputes of this nature are unacceptable and while the Mandate is not prepared to take direct military action we are prepared to send a nominal peacekeeping force and provide neutral arbitration between the parties so that a peaceful settlement can be reached.
