The Isheman Civil War (Open, MT)

Postby Ishema » Sat Dec 12, 2009 12:55 am

Fort Commissar, 1 mile out of Esmali:

Field Marshall Dimitri Gridenko, Commander in Chief of the Isheman Red Army, walked briskly to his briefing room. He called for an emergency defense meeting and his generals and commanders quickly assembled.
"Gentlemen, we have a situation on our hands. As you know, an emergency meeting has held in the Grand Forum today, which I was present at. I have learned, that our nation is under attack. Not by an enemy in foreign lands, but by the government officials who call themselves our leaders, who think that their warped ideals and fascist policies can hold us down. Their actions are no less than a declaration of war, and they must be treated as such. I hereby assume emergency powers and call for action against these criminals. They shall be brought to justice, and a new regime will be put in their place. I hope that you all can stand with me."

5 hours later, the word had spread across Ishema's military command. Revolution! Field Marshall Gridenko, our new leader! Commanders took both sides, as armies and allegiances were split. The 1st army, which was firmly under Gridenko's control, had begun to mobilize, it's goal: Esmali. The rest of the military was scattered, except for the Home Army, which had mainly sided with Grigori. Elements of the 4th army, which had been halfway to Bulgela, had returned to suppress the rebellion, or to overthrow the current government. The Isheman Civil War had begun.

Current Military Standings:

Grigori:

6 million infantry, 10,000 tanks, 10,000 APC's, 800 helicopters, 400 fighters, 400 bombers, 2 battleships, 20 destroyers, 15 cruisers, 20 submarines, 1 carrier with 50 fighters and 25 bombers, and 4 million conscripts.

Gridenko:

3 million infantry, 8,000 tanks, 5,000 APC's, 500 helicopters, 200 fighters, 300 bombers, 1 battleship, 15 destroyers, 15 cruisers, 15 submarines, 1 carrier with 50 fighters and 25 bombers, and 8 million conscripts.

OOC: This thread is a result of my war with Bulgela and this thread. Look there to get the background story. Other than that, it's open to anyone except the cat nations.

Encrypted Message

Encryption level: Very High

To Field Marshal Gridenko

Field Marshal Gridenko, our nations in the past have never made contact, but the government I represent, the Greater Altanian Imperial Government wishes to aid you in the overthrow of the Isheman government. We are willing to secretly finance your revolution and even send troops, but we require incentive, such as stronger relations after your success, and the establishment of a Monarchy in Ishema. We are willing to negotiate these in secret if you wish. Do not try to speak to our Imperial Government drectly, as I'll represent the Altanian Government until we reach an agreement.

From Lord Onault

Supreme Chancellor Grigori's Command Bunker:

General Dimitri Velnov walked slowly down the final set of stairs into the dimly lit command bunker. The two soldiers standing in front of the heavy steel door guarding the central conference room saluted him professionally and quickly, before opening the door and allowing him through. The change in the smell and quality of the air hit him like a truck, it was if he had stepped into a tropical jungle at midday.

While his face reamined expressionless and stoic, as he walked past his fellow soldiers, his mind was moving at a million miles per hour. He could not actually believe that he was going to do this, how had it come to this? He started to mentally recount how this entire nightmare had begun. One month ago, he had received an electronically scrambled email from a group calling themselves the Isheman Freedom Fighters. Attatcked to the email, was a video, of his lovely sister, Kera, tied and gagged. They had said that if he told anyone about his situation or tried to rescue his sister in any way, they would kill her. Dimitri could not take that chance, so he had done nothing, had told nobody, and now he was paying the price for his terrible mistake.

Yesterday, after the official declaration of civil war in Ishema, he had received a second email. This time, there had been no attatchment, simply the words, "Kill Supreme Chancellor Grigori within 24 hrs, or your sister dies." One of countless emails sent out by this terrorist group targeting out key officials, he thought. That was it, the entire story of how he was about to become an enemy of the state, a traitor to his country and most likely, a dead man.

He was nearing the Supreme Chancellor, who was in the middle of some moral-boosting speech to the troops. His right hand fell to his pistol grip as he began to sweat profusely, small droplets of sweat falling from his forehead. "Sir, I think you need to take a look at this report," he said, his lips moving independently of his mind, as his right hand gripped the pistol, ready to tear it out of it's holster. It was now or never...

Anatolia Fields, 25 miles from Esmali:

The 4th battalion of the 1st army had assembled and begun advancing towards the capital. The Home Army had arrived to meet them in the Anatolian Fields. The Fields were just grassy plains, stretching all around Ishema for miles. Gridenko's forces, called the Revolutionary Army, gathered in a small valley and set up their artillery pieces, which immediately began firing. 250 tanks backed up by 5,000 conscript infantry were ordered to lead the charge. Bomber aircraft escorted by fighters, flew overhead and dropped bombs over the Red Army's positions.

The Red Army, led by General Vladimir Bellic, had formed defenses around the Fields and had scrambled fighters to engage the rebel aircraft. Over 2,000,000 soldiers had been rallied to defend the capital from the revolutionaries, but it was unknown weather that number would be enough.

Reply to Altane from Gridenko:

Dear Lord Onault,

I find all of your terms acceptable, and I would like you to know that all of the revolution thanks you for your support. When I am emperor, I will make sure that you nation is fully compensated and that a strong relationship is formed.

Sincerely,
Dimitri Gridenko

Reply to The Blazed Imperials from Gridenko:

Dear King Gruffius,

I heartily accept your naval support, and I would like for you to blockade the Bosporus Straits to cut off the Red Army's supply lines. The AA guns are also very helpful, and we wish for you to install them around the city of Ankara please.

Sincerely,
Dimitri Gridenko

Reply to Mergelland from Grigori:

Dear Hermanus the Rich,

We thank you for your assistance in dealing with these rebels. Although we are sure to win the war without your help, this will make it easier and less bloody. You may send the elite soldiers to the mountain pass at Krastow, and have your bombers land at airfield 127 where our pilots will take control of them.

Regards,
Supreme Chancellor Grigori

On the southernly Isle of Altane, Hunari...

Lord Onault lived in an isolated estate on the most southernly isle of the Altanian Isles, but had necessary communication devices to contact those he was tasked with speaking to on behalf of the Altanian Government without it being an official communique. Lord Onault sent a reply to the Isheman Field Marshal happy to hear that they willa ccept aid in the war to destroy the Isheman Communist regime. He then picked up the phone and dialled the number to a secure line.

The Phone rang for a second before being answered. "Hello, this is the secretary to the Imperial Cabinet, how may I help you?"

"Can you put me through to the High Minister of War, please? This is Lord Onault" asked Onault pacing up and down.

"Just a moment, sir" spoke the Secretary.

It was a few seconds before a voice on the phone, "Hello this Vince Yaralen, High Minister of War"

"Minister, this is Lord Onault. I have recieved a response from the Field Marshal, its good to go." said Onault quietly.

"Good work, Lord Onault. I thank you again for your continued service." said Yaralen before hanging up with a grin.

At Altanian High Command...

The Supreme Marshal and the Supreme Commanders the best of Altanian Military Commanders were sitting for lunch, laughing amongst themselves as they discussed differant subjects of importance.

A Soldier entered the room and stands at attention.

"Supreme Marshal, we've recieved a call from the High Minister of War." spoke the Soldier.

Supreme Marshal Turome turned in his chair.

"What was it about?" asked Turome still taking a sip from his beverage.

"We've recieved word the Isheman Field Marshal has accepted our offer of aid, we must dispatch forces to aid him immediately under one of our Military Commanders." replied the soldier.

"Thank you, Soldier." said Turome as he turned back towards his colleagues.

"Who should we send to aid this Field Marshal during this Civil War?" asked Supreme Commander Wacvon.

"What about General Jornan? He's currently without a posting." said Supreme Commander Myler looking through a list of unposted Officers.

Turome looks around the room as the other officers nod in agreement.

"Very well, General Jornan shall lead our forces in Ishema" said Turome before he took another bite out of his Lunch.

Military Port of Lukanar...

General Jornan, an elderly officer who had been aiming to be promoted to Supreme Commander during his career and was a veteran of the Harnite Revolution and fought on the Loyalist side. Upon recieving his appointment to lead the Altanian Forces in Ishema to aid the Revolutionaries he saw this as his chance to finally get his promotion.

A young officer approached the General and immediately saluted the elderly General.

"Colonel Kinam, reporting for duty, Sir. I'm your new Second-in-command, Sir." said Colonal Kinam as the General gave him a glance.

"A little young to be a Colonel, don't ya think?" said the General still watching his Fleet mobolise.

"Well, I..." spoke the Colonel before being interrupted by the General.

"Why don't you just make sure our forces are ready to ship out, I'm going to get a quick drink" said the General as he walked off.

The Colonel a little confused, was approached by another Officer.

"Don't take it personally, the General is just a little irritated when he sees younger officers raise in rank faster than he did. He's still waiting to be promoted to Supreme Commander before he ends up retiring." explained Captain Bine.

"I see, when shall we be ready to head out?" asked the Colonel.

"In a few moments, but it will take a day or 2 before we arrive there." replied Captain Bine.

Total Altanian Forces being sent:

4 million infantry, 5000 tanks, 6000 APC's, 500 Helicopters,500 fighters, 500 bombers, 2 battleships, 7 destroyers, 10 cruisers, 6 submarines, 1 carrier with 20 fighters and 15 bombers.

Imperial Letter of Foreign Affairs

To:Joseph Grigori, Supreme Chancellor of the United Socialist States of Ishema

The Holy Empire of Tybra has noticed you are currently in a rather complicated position. While under normal conditions we prefer to keep ourselves out of the internal affairs of others. There are however certain conditions which have changed into abnormal conditions and as such we can no longer keep ourselves outside these internal affairs.

To ensure the stabilization of these conditions we wish to aide you. Naturally we are willing to aide you with both economical as military aide as much as we deem necessary. We have however but one condition, all military (Tybran soldiers+ equipment) aide must be under Tybran guidance and Tybran Law to ensure the utmost efficiency and a swift elimination of these insurgents.

Signed,

Lord C, Imperator of the Holy Empire of Tybra

Supreme Chancellor Grigori's Command Bunker:

Sergeant Petrov stood at the entrance to the assembly hall. As General Velnov approached, he and his comrade snapped to attention and saluted. However, the general looked very nervous, and had a grimace on his face. Higher ranking officers were to be treated with suspicion, especially because Gridenko held a strong sway over them. Sgt. Petrov leaned over to his comrade guard.
"What's with the general? He doesn't look right."
"We're supposed to follow up on any suspicions." The two men entered the hall, and scanned the area for Gen. Velnov. He was slowly walking towards the Chancellor, with his hand on his holster. Sgt. sprinted towards him, as the general pulled out a pistol and stuck it into Grigori's chest. Sgt. Petrov grabbed his arm, and the gun went off. Grigori spun and fell to the ground, a pool of blood forming around his as he clutched at the wound. Fortunately for the chancellor, Sgt. Petrov's quick acting had forced the assailant to miss a shot to the heart, and instead fire the bullet into his stomach. There was a lot of damage, but there was a chance for survival.

Guards swarmed over the scene, as Gen. Velnov was wrestled to the ground and cuffed. They dragged him away to a back room. Medics hoisted the Supreme Chancellor onto a stretcher, and transported him to the nearest hospital via ambulance.

Roerdale Palace,

Goodmorning Members Of the Mergelland parlement,
I am standing before you here, because our country is for the first time in history at war with another country.
This morning bombers and man are leaving on al long and dangerous road, many of them will not survive this road.
But as the die,I do have only hope that is that they take more bastarts with them to the grave.
As he stood up Hermanus looked around the room an saw overexited members of the parlement singing and shouting on there seats.

As Wommus saw the mighty bombers depart he thought about his wife and children.
It was now his turn he thought as he pulled the 220 tons of steel and dead in the air.

Private Bert was sitting in his chair packing for what was to come.
before he came in to the plane he checked for the last time his cyanide pil, his heavy machinegun his long dagger and his grenades.
They where off.

Martilia wrote:OPERATION SAVORY
Esvinev Air and Naval Base - Esvinev City

It was a wide a normal and gloomy day for Martilian civilians in the Esvinev City, but for the Martilian soldiers its all different. The signal was given by the Red House to send an expeditionary force to Isheman and aid the revolutionaries. As a result, almost a fleet of ships (2 Aircraft Carriers, 3, Helicopter Carriers, 5 Cruisers, 8 Destroyers, 12 Frigates, 17 Corvettes), five air force squadrons (1 Transport Squadron, and 2 fighter squadrons, and 2 helicopter squadrons and two armies (786th and 46th Army) were mobilized to send to Isheman. The Martilian forces are now ready in fighting against the Isheman government.

After 5 Hours - 20 miles off the coast of Isheman

After a 5 hour long journey, the entire Martilian forces have arrived. As soon as the ships got near, they started bombarding the beaches, bombers and multi-role fighters started to engage the coastal defenses and air defenses on the region. Casualties are mounting, but not greatly enough to repel the Martilian invasion. Almost 12 planes were destroyed in a preemptive strike, after the bombardment the transport helicopters are starting to land troops on the beach and started shooting Isheman government troops, while transport planes have started dropping behind enemy lines and started clearing chokepoints especially towns near the beaches. Simultaneously, a flotilla of transport ships came on to the shore with thousands of Martilian tanks and ten to hundred thousand of Martilian troops. They have made way inside as the resistance were light and also their technological advantage weapons against the Isheman government troops make them gain the advantage on the battlefield. Tu-78 Gunships are also on the zone and starting to give the troops on the ground air support as well as the UAVs, helicopters and planes.

MILITARY ORBAT OF MARTILIAN EXPEDITIONARY FORCE
  • Two Armies
    - Total: 270,000 Martilian Troops (with Tanks, Artillery Pieces, APCs, Rubber Boats and etc)
  • One Fleet
    - Total: 2 Aircraft Carriers, 3 Helicopter Carriers, 5 Cruisers, 8 Destroyers, 12 Frigates and 17 Corvettes
  • Five Air Squadrons
    - Total: 2 Aircraft Squadrons, 2 Helicopter Squadrons, 1 Transport Squadrons

OOC: Powergame. I will elaborate:

1. The government would have detected, in some way, a massive fleet approaching the shore. You obviously gave me no time to do so. I would have sent the navy to stop your attack.

2. "Casualties are mounting, but not greatly enough to repel the Martilian invasion." No. You cannot post the outcome of a battle without input from both sides.

3. "Almost 12 planes were destroyed in a preemptive strike," You did not give me the chance to scramble my air force to fight off the "preemptive strike".

4. "after the bombardment the transport helicopters are starting to land troops on the beach and started shooting Isheman government troops, while transport planes have started dropping behind enemy lines and started clearing chokepoints especially towns near the beaches."

Helicopter transports: You never gave me a chance to shoot down your choppers, or damage them, or halt their progress. Same with the transport planes.

Clearing towns and choke points: Where were my men during this? Did they fall over and die? Was I given a chance to RP their defenses? No.

5. "Simultaneously, a flotilla of transport ships came on to the shore with thousands of Martilian tanks and ten to hundred thousand of Martilian troops. They have made way inside as the resistance were light and also their technological advantage weapons against the Isheman government troops make them gain the advantage on the battlefield." So many things wrong with this:

I've already said, you gave me no chance to detect, or retaliate to you flotilla. Then, you take control of my forces. "They have made way inside as the resistance were light" It was not light. Lastly, who says that you have a technological advantage over my forces? You, but not me. So it's invalid.

This is how your post should have went:

"The attacking fleet is now 5 miles off shore. Planes have been scrambled for preemptive strikes against the Isheman defenses. There is also a flotilla that is attacking another place."

That's it. Because this way, I have a chance to respond. Next, you would post saying that your troops have landed. I post what my troops do, and how many there are.

Supreme Chancellor Grigori's Command Bunker:

General Velnov said nothing as he was tackled to the floor and handcuffed. What had he done, he had doomed his beloved country to anarchy and war. Only a single though prevented him from breaking into uncontrollable weeping. His sister, beautiful Kera, was now safe because of his actions. As he was dragged away by a group of soldiers roughly, by men who he had once commanded, he smiled.

The city of New Falmore
8:34 am:

Alexi Rez dropped the cigarette and crushed it underfoot. The brisk morning chill, when combined with the moderate breeze cut through his thin coat as he attempted to wrap it more tightly around his body. He walked out of the dark back alley onto the main street of New Falmore, scanning the street casually. He noticed Ceti walking on the other side of the street, in clothing identical to his. He caught his eye and made a small movement that to the passer-by would be indistinguishable from a simple scratch. Ceti returned the movement and continued walking.

Alexi checked his watch, it was almost time. Certain information discovered by IFF sleeper-agents within the government indicated that a Red Army supply convoy would be moving through the city at exactly 8:45. This convoy was bringing vital ammunition and rations to the troops currently fighting the rebel forces down south. New Falmore’s entire IFF cell of 12 members had been tasked with ambushing the convoy and if possible, hijacking the trucks to utilise their contents for more separatist actions.

3 minutes now. Alexi’s hands felt the sharp outlines of the bulky sub-machine gun that he was cradling inside his coat, on top of a set of body armour supplied by one of the rebel’s foreign backers. He looked down the right side of the street and saw the lead truck of the convoy approaching. Wait for it, wait for it, he told himself. Finally, as the lead truck passed his position, he ripped off his coat and with a fierce roar of, “For a Free Ishema,” he opened fire.

  • One Fleet

1. The government would have detected, in some way, a massive fleet approaching the shore. You obviously gave me no time to do so. I would have sent the navy to stop your attack.

Kushak had finally cleared all issues off of the table, and then he saw the name "Ishema" on the last of his reports. He exclaimed, "Ah, hell! What the fuck have they done now!" He flipped through the pages of the report, and set it down. He thought, Well, well, well, for once, he had a report on his desk about Ishema that WASN'T their complete fault. He had naught to give to aid against the rebellion, as his entire military might was deployed elsewhere.

He sent a message saying such.

(((OOC: I have alot of threads to cover, going to have to call a raincheck on the message.)))

Ishema, Western Coast:

Pvt. Sardin stared lazily out to sea with his chin resting on top of his machine gun. He had been posted here for 5 hours straight, and there had been no action at all. He was forbidden to speak to his comrade next to him, and he wasn't allowed to fall asleep. This had been going on for 2 weeks straight now, but still, the private knew that he was serving his nation well. Defending against the rebels and fighting off foreign invaders. If they ever showed up.

Pvt. Sardin heard a faint whistling above him. He looked around but saw nothing. The whistling steadily got louder and louder, when suddenly then entire coast was ripped apart. Inside the reinforced concrete bunker, Sardin was safe. However, his comrades outside were not, and he watched helplessly as they were torn to shreds on the beach. Jets streaked overhead, dropping cluster bombs on the base behind him. AA fire took out a few, but the attack had caught the entire base off guard, so the assailants barely took damage. After half an hour of sustained attack, the base defenses were on full alert, and AA fire began to take out more jets. The enemy fleet could just be seen on the horizon of the sea, and all the defenders could do was wait.

Ishema, New Falmore:

Sergeant Nelson Dredson carefully maneuvered his truck through the streets of New Falmore. Civilians paced up and down the sidewalk all throughout the city, and he needed to drive slowly or there could be an accident. There were two more vehicles in the convoy, another supply truck like the one Nelson drove, and a troop transport to guard the rear.

As the convoy passed an alley way, someone shouted something, and gunfire ripped the cabin of the truck apart, killing Sgt. Dredson's comrade in the passenger seat. Luckily for the sergeant, he was able to duck out of the way and take cover behind the dashboard as more bullets shattered the compartment. The machine gunner on the troop transport spun around, firing wildly. He was hit in the back 3 times, and he slumped down into the transport. 6 soldiers attempted to pile out of the back, but half of them were cut down as they exited. Sgt. Dredson grabbed the pistol from the glove compartment, and popped up above the dash. He spotted a target with a sub-machine gun, aimed, and fired twice. The attacker recoiled, but was not seriously injured, the body armor taking the brunt of the blows.

Nelson Dredson kicked open the door of the truck and hopped down, running back to the transport. He passed the second truck and saw that both inhabitants had been cut down in the cabin. As dodged around a parked bus as he scrambled to meet with the survivors. There were only 2 soldiers left from the transport, taking cover between a dumpster, and the second truck.
"Sgt. There are too many of them. What are we going to do?" screamed a quivering private.
"We must do the only rational thing. Drop you weapon, and come out with your hands up private. We may have a chance of survival."
The three men dropped their firearms, and popped up, slowly moving out of cover and yelling "We surrender!"

OOC: My last post of the night. Don't be discouraged if I don't respond to you. Tkd, I saw your post, and I will reply in the morning.
