Appearance and History: After the bombs dropped, the remnants of the U.S. Pacific navy coalesced around the Hawaiian islands and Pearl Harbor. Martial law was enacted and a new United States president was sworn in after the presumed loss of contact with the mainland. The military, along with the newly appointed Presidents cabinet rose to power. With the military having priority over the protection of the islands. Thankfully, the islands were roughly spared, but still suffered greatly from the nuclear winter. Honolulu served as a bastion for the Pacific and survivors from the mainland slowly trickled in. A population boom took place in the later years that quickly soared to around 700k. However, starvation and anarchy soon took hold after unsustainable food rations and sabotage from pirates overthrew the city and its government. The population was slaughtered and fled. By the time the city recovered, only half remained. During this turbulent time many historical records were destroyed and all seemed lost. It wasnt until around 15 years later around 2189 that a new government was restored as the City-state of Honolulu. Since then, it has constructed and maintained one of the most advanced aquatic navies in the world, maintaining a a strong fleet of around 71 warships. Since then, the city has sprawled its connection to the other islands with small outpost and research facilities throughout the Hawaiian chain and has secured them from piracy. It is very isolated and hard to get to given its location in the middle of the Pacific. Power is beamed down through microwaves via low orbit solar farms, while more energy is collected from the oceanic tide. Its current population is around 492k. Most of the islands plains have been churned up into industrial parks, with the remnants of the once lush jungle now only residing in the hilltops unsuitable for construction. Due to this lack of space the city was forced to expand outwards into the sea.
Largely self sufficient with aqua and underground farms, food is plenty. Vast vertical farms dot the city scape. Priorities as of now is maintaining a large navy and research in science. Plasma shielding was invented not too long ago, and is used to shelter the city from super hurricanes that now plague the Pacific. A vast sea wall that can be raised from beneath the waves and large series of underwater defense systems dot the islands, making it significantly difficult to reach the islands without triggering sensors or traps. A large multi-purpose aircraft carrier, the R.H.S. Scorpio has recently been finished, boasting 3 runways on top of a trimaran hull. It is the pride of the Hawaiian fleet. Trade routes from Alaska come down from the north to supply the city-state with raw minerals for construction and progress. Politically, it is a democratic socialist republic. Society is largely progressive and peaceful, with multiple ethnicities from all around the Pacific, mostly caucasian however. Few cyborg enhancements have slowly been introduced to the commercial market, but are viewed with uneasiness.
Communication and sensors have long been established throughout the central pacific and long range tactics have been adopted to defend itself from wrong doers given its long history of dealing with oceanic piracy over the years. Excelling in thermobaric, plasmabaric, and kinetic bombardment. They seek to live a peaceful and humble life, however, scouts always patrol the mainlands coast lines every couple months, both the Americas and Asia. A new military operation has been adopted sending self-aware drones beyond the 'dead' zones of the coastlines to register and identify if there are any survivors beyond the Pacific. No contact has been made with any other civilization for several hundred years.

Fallout City: Atlantis
It was a morning like any other morning. The Military was up and buzzing about as the usually do at shift change. While most of Scientists and Doctors were just waking up. Commander William Tolfin was already awake at this point though, you see he doesnt sleep much anymore, and when he does, he sees the same nightmare over and over again... *flashback*
10 Years Ago...
17:54 Hours
Near Dublin, Ireland
The Purge of Ireland
Bane Brigade
There was weapons fire everywhere as Commander Tolfin and his Brigade moved into Dublin. This was not a conquer mission, but rather a mission to kill everyone and everything living in Dublin. Tolfin's Brigade had bombarded the city with howitzers for 5 days before moving into the city... As Tolfin and the Brigade broke the main defensive line around the city, the true devastation was beginning to show... Building had collapsed and killed the inhabitants. There were injured civilians everywhere, but their orders were clear. NO ONE survives... Across the city semi-automatic fire could be heard... *pop* and after a few more seconds another *pop*... This was the Purge of Dublin...
(2 hours after the city had been purged) Commander Tolfin moved into the city center. In the City Hall, he found a young woman who was clutching something in her hands. The woman had been killed at least 3 hours before any soldiers had entered the city... But the noises began to come from the woman... At first just little noises, but soon it was a full on cry. Tolfin approached the woman and found a baby in her arms. Tolfin decided that he would take the baby (a girl) and raise her as his own. This was the happiest and saddest day of his life... Tolfin never forgave himself for the murder of all those people, but found comfort in that he saved one... He was just following orders...
07:00 Hours
Fallout City: Atlantis
Present Day
Commander Tolfin woke up Kelsey, and got her ready for school. She was his pride and joy. She was smart and nice and everything he had hoped for. He had told her that her mother had died protecting her from evil men and that he was her father. She loved him with all her little heart and prayed to God everyday that he would not take him away. He then sent her to school.
Commander Tolfin walked to the command center as he usually does every morning. He could take the elevators directly there, but he likes meeting and talking with the citizens of the city. He walked past the hospital and said hello to Mrs. Czer as well as his fiance Rebeka Macley. He then proceeded directly to the Command Center.
Once he had arrived, he approached the long range communicator console. He never understood why he had to keep sending out these dumb messages... They have been doing it for over 400 years and they haven't received one response. These messages over the years had degraded into more of a comedy show, rather than actually looking for any people. Across the City however, they were very popular. He said, "Good Morning World! Today's forecast is slightly cloudy, with rain expected over most of Europe. Now over to General Czer for the News." General Czer responded, "Thanks William. Well we have nothing going on of interest. Back to William for the Sports" Tolfin retorted, "Well yesterday was a good day for all sports fans! My daughters team placed 1st in the Atlantian Little League tournament. While the Generals lost to the Junior officers in bowling.... Welp, that is all the news for today! Check in tomorrow for more updates... Oh, and if you are a different fallout city, please respond to this message. Thanks for Listening. Bless your face, if you sneezed during this message bless you! Peace off!" And they waited the mandatory 30 minutes for a reply...

I also have ideas for two fallout cities- one near Sacramento, California, the other near Sydney, Australia. Those I will mainly post tomorrow with the IC and the last few Geneva characters save the Sacramento one.

I will probably go back to that time period to further give people an insight into my characters state of mind and ideas about war. While Tolfin feels terrible about the Purge, Czer does not. Czer viewed the Purge as a means to achieve access to the surface of the planet...
I would like to see how Tolfin would respond to a teenager contacting him. I think more than anything, the city will be on alert for a while.
I probably will make more characters, but right now i only need a few. So if i make up a character, and i decide that he/she will be more permanent, i will make a bio for em.

Your ideas about characters, I can accept. They seem reasonable and wise. And as for Geneva, well, they'll just be flying around making friends- or trying to, given Nova Svea's attitudes toward those of us who aren't transhuman.
Given what I know about Czer and Tolfin, their views on the Purge aren't to be unexpected. But have Czer's opinions changed in the past decade? And it won't be a teenager, Edward Ganstrom is (presuming this is 2415/16 when Tolfin's adopted daughter is 10 years old and he sent out the radio message) forty years old. He'll be sending the messages.

I must have misread his bio. My bad. When the Purge started Czer was the leading force behind it. He wanted the ability to be on the surface rather than underwater. But he has become slightly less gun ho now.

People do mellow out with age, generally. And I hope that reduced gung-ho personality can be one that interacts peacefully with Geneva.

Well more than likely he will be nice. It's just a matter of whether you have spare parts for a Type-17 solar fusion reactor.

that this rule was violated. Specifically if your bombardment tactics use space satellites. And the solar power beamed by microwave is also an idea requiring space-capable gear being in your city's possession. Unless this stuff is older than the nuclear war itself, then I request you remove or modify these parts of your app before I can accept it.

Its alright haha. I would think itd be an interesting roleplay having them greet eachother sometime in the roleplay. Ill agree to them being separated for now so we have more plot for the plot god.
This will be my first big roleplay on Nationstates, as I originated from Facebook Nations app.

President Wyatt, otherwise known as Theodore Wyatt. Aged around 64 but due to popular reverse aging techniques looks around 23. Reverse aging is all too common and the average person lives around to be 180 years old. He has had one son, in agreement with the one-child policy adopted by the government in 2379. Elected five years ago he is ending his term soon with one year left. He is apart of the Neo Union party, a far left-wing party. Hes a modest man, kind and very relaxed around the populace.
His primary agenda was the finalizing of the new flagship of the Hawaiian Fleet, the R.H.S. Ablation
(Image)
A massive 4,006 meter long warship that took over a decade to construct, it is outfitted with the latest technological warfare abilities and equipment. Launched a week ago, Ablation is running sea trials just beyond the Big Island. The republic has always opted for limited, subtle rescue and aid operations. Never broadcasting open frequencies across the hemispheres due to the breakdown and overpopulation that once happened before hundreds of years ago. The main enemy against the state is oceanic piracy, something that has plagued the Pacific ever since the bombs fell. The transfer of minerals from Alaska and Yukon continues with convoys escorting the vital minerals into the island chain. He is optimistic to find another trace of civilization before his term ends. Determined to be the first President in recent history to be honored the title of rediscovering our brotheren and establishing friendly relations.
OOC: The ship itself is going to be a major character
(Image)
Grand Admiral Henson is a ruthless woman who has taken the Ablation as her flagship for the fleet. She is a skilled tactician who is the daughter of the previous Grand Admiral Henson. Born and raised on the ocean with her father before being taken into the National Naval Academy in Maui for training where she conducted training excersizes and war games with other ship commanders by the age of 16. Now 48, she is known for her brutality against piracy and her cunning ability to adapt to situations quickly. Running a tight ship and crew with zero bs policy.
P.S. also Honolulu gets power from thermal, nuclear, and tidal waves since i had to supplement for satellite solar energy
Alotopia wrote:If its OK I would like to add these "ships" to Atlantis' arsenal.
(Image)
(They are the smaller ships with Atlantis in the background.)
These vessels are the part of the Atlantian Forces. They can both fly and go underwater. They can insert 20 soldiers to a battle. They are protected by 10 inches of dura-titanium (10x stronger than regular titanium, Thanks to 500 years of continuous research), and exterior shields. Their armament consists of 4 retractable railguns, with 2 on each side (see above pic).
The main land based weapon system is the AT-TC (All Terrain - Troop Carrier).
(Image)
This vehicle can carry 50 combat ready soldiers. This vehicle can be inserted by invasion via beach as it can hook itself to the ocean floor and walk to the beach. It's armor is a full 2 feet thick dura- titanium, with an addition of shields. The armament of this vehicle includes 1 primary Railgun, 4 frontal mini-guns, 2 rear mini-guns and many "holes" where soldiers can stick there guns through and fire. The carrier is only used during major assaults or as a command vessel. It's most recent use was during the Ireland Campaign. Commander Tolfin ' personal AT-TC contains a virtual battle table (projects the entire battlefield in glorious 3d), a lounge, numerous communicators, and his Black Guards. (Bodyguards who protect all members of the Council and all generals.)
PS - Atlantis I currently running on Geothermal power because it's solar fusion reactor is missing a piece... If this reactor is able to be repaired Atlantis would have almost unlimited power for thousands of years. It would also allow them to access the main weapon systems.

Name: The Progenitor.
Gender: Not applicable.
Biography: The Progenitor is the dream project of the Swedish research department and has been in development for over 50 years. Being stuck in development for about 40 of those it wasn't until a woman named Karin Jensen was made lead researcher that development began anew. The progenitor was finished about 5 years ago an has since then been used to keep track of all the different databases inside the city.
What makes the progenitor unique is that it's also in a way the father and mother to all other AI in existence. Instead of the humans creating a new AI from scratch the progenitor was designed to be able to copy himself into new AI that can later be out back into
Itself again when not needed anymore. This is used so that he can be at several places at once and learn from events that are normally outside its sensor range.
Aside from this any citizen equipped with a neural link can actually talk with the progenitor whenever inside the city and gain access to all records and data that it holds.
Personality: The Progenitor is a very inquisitive entity that has shown interest in the world it lives in and towards humanity in general. As such it often has a very friendly tone when talked to and will often ask questions about how it feels to be a human.
Apart from this it show a large amount of loyalty towards its creators and has never shown any inclination for hostility towards humans.
Alotopia wrote:The Chairman is Alexander Czer.
The Military Councilor is William Tolfin.
The Medical Councolor is Hayley Slate.
Name: Hayley Slate
Gender: Female
Physical Appearance: She is a tall, blonde woman with blue eye. She stands about 6 feet tall and is average size for a woman.
Biography: She is as old as William, and served with him in the Army until she retired after the Purge of Dublin. She was shocked by the death and destruction and resigned soon after. She retired into the Medical caste, where she now is a Doctor. She is currently a pediatrician and is the God-mother of Kelsey Tolfin.
Personality: A kind and gracious woman, she believes that all people deserve the same amount of respect the military people have. But on the other hard, she can be very unforgiving and is a tough negotiator. She is the a pick for next Chairman of the council. Deep down she loves William, but is saddened by his actions.
The Scientist Councilor is Zachary Smith
Name: Zachary Smith
Gender: Male
Physical Appearance: He is an older gentleman. He is currently 108 years old. Standing tall at 5'3", Zach doesn't like being the shortest on the council, but would rather be short than not be a councilor. He is a larger man (a little on the fat side), but he doesn't care.
Biography: Unlike most leaders, He did not serve in the military. He was selected to be a scientist and develop stuff. He always called everything, stuff. What's that? "Stuff" what are you doing? "Stuff". You could never get a good answer, but he got his assignments done. He developed the first turbo laser weapon system. And he beat Tolfin at chess, so he says. Currently he is the councilor for the scientists, and is very gung - ho.
The Workers Councilor: Nate Pãte
Name: Nate Pãte
Gender: Male
Physical Appearance: A thin, boney man, Nate is the most hated councilor. He has dark circles around his eyes, and is constantly shaking his hand. (Think Emperor Palpatine)
Biography: Elected 3 years ago, he has abused his power and only helped himself. He is the most hated man in the city, and he knows it. It is likely that when he steps down from the council, he will be arrested and shot for corruption, treason and abuse of power.
Personality: He is an evil man, who has never had any friends. His refusal to step down from the council has made him seem like he has power, but in reality when his term is up, they will force him to step down. He used to be nice but that all changed when he was burned by fire.
