II's RPer of 2013: Tuthina vs. New Azura

Postby Jenrak » Sun Oct 06, 2013 9:30 pm

International Incidents' RPer of 2013 Competition: Tuthina versus New Azura

Welcome to International Incidents' Roleplayer of the year, 2013 edition! This is a friendly competition for the purpose of recognizing and supporting stellar roleplayers throughout the year of 2013. The aim of the competition is to have some fun, build some competitive spirit, and to provide some extra exposure for helpful and interesting RPers!

The rules are simple: each player gets one vote. You are free to provide your own reasoning as to why, but you are not required to. You do not need to provide your own reasoning if someone asks. However, you are encouraged to provide reasons why you voted for that particular RPer. Please, please, PLEASE vote with your mains. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, let me know. If there is a reasonable number of puppets (reasonable left up to myself to decide) or low-post accounts voting in a fashion that I would be concerned, I may close the match for review. Remember, this is all in good fun, so let's have some fun!

Through perseverance, muscle, and good old hard work, New Azura and Tuthina face each other off in this climatic semi-finals battle! Tuthina proved his strength, knocking out veteran RPer Emperor Pudu before going on to prevailing against New Edom! However, Tuthina faces an even greater challenge, as crowd favourite New Azura proves her power by defeating Mentor Lamoni and crowd favourite Marquesan! Now, we come to a clash as the two of them square off for a spot in the finals crowd - who will emerge victorious?!

Tuthina -
In the eye of the Radiatians, the land of Tuthina was most likely as alien as the government that reigned over it. Located in the middle of one of the largest oceans in Noctur, it was an enormous chain of pale green archipelagos arose from out the azure main. As a sharp contrast with the land of Radiatia, which was notorious for its mostly barren land covered with industrial smog that was always tinted by technicolour, the archipelago was—for the most part—devoid of almost any sign of heavy industrial pollution, or even human life: a peek from the skies towards the islands would find it mostly covered by a pale green forestation of the late winter, while the white snow gradually melted away from the arrival of spring. Only very occasionally would one be able to spot the patches of grey and brown that marked the existence of human civilisation.

The Radiatian aircraft descended as it approached its destination. From the first glance, it was not very big an airport despite it apparently being one of the major airfield in the biggest metropolis in the Empire. What was more was that it seemed the airport itself consist of little more than the airstrip itself, with a green hill occupying where a terminal and other facilities should be at. However, once the plane has landed on the strip, further examination would reveal that the majority of the airport, including the terminal, hanger, and a few other structures not commonly seen in commercial airports, was, in fact, built into the slopes of the hill. The vegetation and the occasion paint on the exposed structure was more than enough to conceit naked eyes, or even some of the more advanced equipment.

- New Azura
There was a certain benevolence to the valley in which Kulitskaya was constructed; an ambiance of sorts which carried melodic grace to the souls of world-weary men who laid their heads down for rest there. The Barracks were little more than an outpost in the Strzelnica Range for summer quartering, to the uninitiated at least. Oleg Korzakhov knew better than to trust the official government position, of course; his position as the Special Counsel to Her Graceful Eminence the Kozhukhina carried certain perks, not the least of which was inside information. Sitting in the executive office of Kulitskaya's Civilian Enclave center, feeling the coolness of the breeze upon his skin from the open glass doors to his terrace overlooking the valley, Oleg felt on top of things for the first time in a long time. It was an empowering feeling, to say the least.

"All is right with the world," he whimsically chimed to no one in particular, leaning back casually in his plush office chair. The Civilian Enclave was nothing more than a carefully-constructed hoax; ostensibly a slouchy facility for the civilians who worked at Kulitskaya, the perpetual construction going on outside concealed the undisclosed government monitoring station hidden within. For months, the Evenguard had been monitoring illicit chatter from operatives coordinating with the Midnight terrorist network, coordinating their counteroffensive to the minute thanks to the intelligence gathered there. With the utter razing of Midnight from the face of Azura, most in Legnica had lost interest in Kulitskaya or the mountain villa of Neschastnyye beside it. Yet there was one man left in the Evenguard who could appreciate the value of the Barracks...

As with Kylarnatia, I am more familiar with New Azura's work. As such, I cast my vote for New Azura.

Tuthina is outstanding. From the example, great care, creativity, and detail is noticed. I look forward to reading both contestant's writings in the future.

Getting to know Azura over the past few months has been a real pleasure. I'm sure I can speak for all of Sondria when I say that I have been deeply impressed with your eye for detail, your writing aesthetic and your candor. It was a pleasure to compete with you in the previous round and it continues to be an honor to call you friend.

New Azura, my vote is yours.

Tuthina. New Azura is an absolutely amazing and monumental roleplayer, but Tuthina's work just somehow appeals to me more.

I will go with Tuthina this round but make no mistake this round is just as close as Allanea and Turtleshroom. They differ like by one percent. I am going to go with Tuthina because I think that there is a strong necessity for Fantasy players to get recognized for their writing prowess, and I think it is fair to say we have it.

I'm going to have to vote Tuthina simply on the grounds that I can visualize his writing better than I can New Azura. It's close, though.

Tuthina. The unique cultures and civilizations I've seen him create in my RPs with him have astounded me- and that's FanT alone. The piece shown here just testifies his skill in all genres.
