Hmm. Interesting. Every world is a womb-world, every bit of land taken used to expand the Swarm. A standard Swarm fleet might contain three womb-ships, which take in matter and produce materials, including ships.

2) Utilizes total environment to organize what could be considered the host organism, such as your use of bio-matter to produce more of you guys and especially with the whole mutagenic invasion.

Ah yes. Any planet with a sustained invasion of the Swarm will begin to see its environment and atmosphere change, with a common change being a sudden increase of rainstorms. These storms are seeded with 'the Gift', a microscopic substance that attaches to anything it touches and, as more drops fall, change and adapt it, bringing it into the Swarm's fold.

The Gift of Damballah is adapted to affect the lifeforms of a given planet. So a creature with the Gift will rapidly become a drone, which are sent en masse as cannon fodder against enemies.

3) Viral in its ability to reproduce, often times accumulating from the smallest organism into a massive flood of bodies.

As is the case of the Swarm, of course. Even the barest fraction of a Colour left alive is enough to birth a new Rainbow in Damballah's image.

As such, labels you as a Swarm then biomechanical use puts you as a III then birthed castes puts you in A.

Lovely. It's going to be fun having a diplomat speak with your kind.

They'll shoot it before it can even speak.... That is heresy of the ultimate kind. While they can work out an impromptu alliance with aliens in the face of a greater threat, like you, no Legio would ever consider banding with that thing. Although the Hydras Biologis would LOVE to dissect that thing and perhaps give it a new category since it seems perhaps the Swarm is more intelligent than the typical one. Although, that is to be expected of a III.

I'm attempting to write a post for G-Tech's RP, however I appear to be having an issue. I can't decide what the Principalities FTL jumps would look like. I want something a little more elegant to fit in with the Principality's feel. A part of this issue is that I'm not a great writer and trying to make intricately detailed explanations like Steel or G-Tech is something that's just not possible for me.

Any suggestions or help in this area?

Be all like

It was a magnificent ship, oh yes, with beautiful shiny engines recently polished and a hard, durable hull without a single blemish. The ship's crew were humanoids, and could properly fly the ship, unlike the Damballah swarms that suck weren't as sophisticated. The ship's solar sails and sleek design made it perfect for FTL travel through the warp slip stream, and its 4 quad guns allowed it to properly defend itself.

See? Generic starship.

Dude, really, that whole spirit is what will make you churn something out just fine regardless of the angle you take. That sense of constantly analyzing and reanalyzing it will make something worthwhile.

So, take an idea you want. Whether you leap to a spot by using magnets to stretch the fabric of space-time like a rubberband to slingshot you about, or tear a whole in space and go under it, just go with what you feel is write. Paint a picture but with text. You got this man.

Killing a diplomat may not be the best thing to do, considering said diplomat is specially tuned into the God-Consciousness, and as such killing it immediately alerts the entirety of the Great Swarm.

And now suddenly your conversion is of the utmost importance.

Well see, that's not entirely something I've worked out yet to be honest. I've admittedly been going back and forth on a few styles. I really don't think I want the portal opened up that they fly through. To me it seems odd that an engine on a ship creates something far away that has to be flown through. So it'd need to be something localized to the ship, most likely utilizing as small of a 'bubble' as the ship would fit in or even to go as far as 'hull-hugging'.

Aye, but aliens are aliens. And when you come in, it'll demand other Legios to step in... Hell, the entire Brotherhood might just drop everything and go after you if you started that up.

The sheer size of that conflict would dwarf anything the galaxy had even seen, though it would be my hope that the Swarm's adaptability, unparalleled infiltration, sabotage, and espionage methods, combined with sheer weight of numbers, would carry the day.

How many times can a man honestly be willing to fight an enemy if after every battle more and more of them are made of his fallen comrades?

But things could just as easily go all pear shaped, of course.

Yort, OP is up.

viewtopic.php?f=5&t=262710

TNF, you're welcome to drop in eventually, should you wish to do some slaughtering. The Republic/New Empire will probably end up joining any sort of anti-Swarm crusade, what with the whole "ancestral mantle" thing.

I very well might drop in, though I'd need a summary of what's supposed to go on in the RP and what you would suggest as the way the Swarm gets involved.

Oh, definitely. Though, I'm not entirely sure if you'd be able to reuse them with their loyalty implants in place. Maybe as bullet sponges but that's about it as the hardware would prevent weapon discharge on friendly targets. Or anything anti-Confessor. Still though, with clone production ramping up, synthetic construction increased, human recruitment raised and perhaps even alien allies called up, it would be amazing.

Ah, the loyalty implants could be worked around, either removed entirely or converted to provide loyalty to Damballah, though having a direct link to the God-Consciousness ensures the body already has such a thing, if not the spirit.

Working around the entirety of the hardwire in their body would be difficult in itself since most of their body is hardware with little biological matter on it. The most with bio are acolytes which are 'zombies' for lack of a better word and are used as faceless fodder anyways.

The central plot of the RP is the Artificials (Yort) discovering that their gods aren't, well, gods, but rather a humbled and defeated race thirsting for blood. If you and SC are planning a galactic war, I'll probably have them refound the Empire and join the fight, which could be triggered by the discovery that their ancestral enemy, the Shadows/Colours/Swarm, is still out and thriving.

Some are. Lapiths and Nemeans are for example just a brain in a jar. Myrmidons, Manticores, and Cerberii are torsos in a heavily armored casing with robotic limbs. Gorgons and Talosii are human frames with robotic limbs and weapons with heavy facial augmentation and implants with a few internal so they have some armor plating and Centaurs, Harpies, and Chimeras are bodies in a Iron-sarcophagus Dreadnought style.

Can drop by my Military factbook for a more indepth look.

Oh, although, Paladins, Lancers, Castellans, and Barons are totally robotic often with an attached AI.

Military lSociety l History l Steel Confessor Tenet Booklet

"Steel, is by its very nature is the most secure and protective material that mankind has produced. It can be bent into shapes, made into wire, forged into plate and weapons. It is versatile as flesh but stronger. It is humanity's next evolution and thus a facet of the divine" -Steel Confessor Tenet I

An avowed believer in Mankind's own divinity. This does not mean I believe in a god. Just us.

Fuck it, might as well do one of these. I am a pansexual male, Egalitarian, Progressive Fascist, Humanist, and a Major in the United States Army.

Fearing the Future only leaves us with stone tools.
