Once Kyuria is active in the thread again, I am going to put my second species in the app thread.
The Commonwealth of Steel wrote:(Image)
Civilization Name: Tarka Commonwealth
Civilization Age: 3,000 years
Government Type: Each planet is an autonomous entity ruled by an quasi-elected Thane, who is selected by the Shakora(Monarch) out of those voted for by the public. Voting is compulsory. Each planet's menial civil services are managed by RI's. The Commonwealth is united in its loyalty to the Shakora, a lifelong monarch. They have the wisdom of their forebears, imbued in them by birth through genetic memory. They are effectively an immortal leader, a pillar amongst hardship. There is a compulsory 3-year military service once someone turns 18, which may be carried out either in the Territorial Army, or in the Planetary Regiment, which serves the Commonwealth at large. The government is rather right-wing, and errs towards high control. Information is distributed to the public as normal, except for sensitive matters, which will have at least a two week lag after the event if it airs at all.
Government Information: The current Shakora is Winston Parsons. Parliament works as normal for each planet. The Shakora is aided by the Steward, who takes care of domestic affairs, and is the Shakora's 2IC. Then there is the Master of the Books, the science advisor. After that there is the Star Admiral, who commands the Navy and is an advisor on space matter both hostile and domestic. Lastly there is the Lord Marshal, the leader of ground forces and the director of public safety.
Government Status: So far the Commonwealth has suffered no undue ordeal, but the upcoming Shakora, Winston's son, Maxwell, is something of a loose cannon, and has shown a hint of something darker in his exploits about the Commonwealth. No one knows what to do, or if he will really be such a bad Shakora, only time will tell.
Population: 20 Billion
Home World/Capitol: Zalihad System:Ferrum:Reus
Capital Status: Pretty cool pyramid in the center...so there's that.
Notable locations and such:
Aquila-Largest halo, staging point at the end of the system.
Newton-Name of gas giant in home system surrounded by station ring housing 7 billion.
Raxis-A wormhole at edge of known space.
Founding Species: Human
=========================================================
Society and Cultural information:The lower class has been largely abolished, and the middle class has absorbed a portion the upper classes money so that though there is still an upper class, the middle class was not brought down by the absorption of the lower class. Education is well handled at a regional level, as is healthcare. Public infrastructure is both robust and developing. Thanks to investments and incentives in the private sector, mutually beneficial commerce is thriving. Multi-solar corporations are rarely possible due to the inherent instability brought about by regulations specifically designed to prevent corporate dependency and maintain the status quo. The people are generally stoic, and happy, for their independence as an individual and as a planet.
Society StatusStable? But, we'll see.
LanguagesEnglish?
Economy:7.5? Its Free Enterprise not free market, so that works, yeah?
Industry:Mainly manufacturing, concerned with space far-y things, which have expanded into orbital platforms. Hows that for growth. The economy is based on it.
Production/Construction:Well, this is a serious gap in my knowledge. Erm....Components required for the production of spaceships to gather resources to bring back to feed the services sector and to build more spaceships. Perhaps...dense materials and spaceframes? Help please?
Super Power: Ground battles. Sounds unlikely? Not if you conveniently neutralize their ships' ability to bombard from orbit. Every. Single. Time.
Specialties/Advanced Sciences: Gravitational Sciences.
Strengths: Speed of travel. Troops.
Weaknesses: Armament of ships. Early in the chronology of ship weapons (Will evolve throughout RP)
=========================================================
Map Claim Size: 3
Grid Coordinates: Gamma W,W/V,W/W,X
Map Claim Color: Violet
Holdings/Territory: 7 Systems scattered. Deep-space platforms.
Colonization/expansion: Planets are routinely scouted for compatibility. Those that are compatible get filtered through the Ministry of Expansion and Trade. It is subjected to a set of viability models and costs of terraformation and its benefit are all examined. If it passes all the tests, it will be taking to the Shakora, along with an expansive list of other planets, each with a report of at least 12 pages. The Shakora will approve the next planet to be colonised, one at a time so as to not overly burden the economy. The Ministry will then begin organising the logistics involved, assigning captains, ships and such. Finally, a grant will be approved and the ships will leave. Node lines will have already been present if the planet was scouted, however, a Ripbore can be used to create a horrifically expensive and unstable node line to the planet. Once the beach head has been established, colonists will be given a cash payment and a starter kit and sent on the next supply ship. The colony governor, having been appointed by the Shakora, will set about making it profitable and nurture the colony.
Cutters patrol Commonwealth Space, especially the nodelines and the fringe deep-space platforms. Strike fleets sit at harbor at their sponsor planets, and squadrons sit on call for the fringe colonies and platforms. Defence is defined by its mobility, with only minimal orbital defence platforms. Expansion would require a world worth the expenditure in occupying and developing, so the occupation of enemy worlds is not far off a last resort.
=========================================================
Foreign policy: A generally agnostic outset is encouraged for captains, yet some still have itchy trigger fingers. Encroachment/aggression is simply not tolerated.
Diplomacy:Nope.
Technological Age: Moving past the UNSC from Halo, perhaps NC from Planetside 2.
FTL Capabilities: Nodelines. Really fast. Specialised engine section impacts design of ships. Convenient for Gamma, wouldn't you say?
Inter Planetary Travel Plasma exhaust. VASIMR.
=========================================================
Military Information: 28 Strike Fleets of varying strengths (Normally 37 ships) Each Strike fleet consists of a cruiser, nine destroyers and twenty seven frigates. Each squadron consists of one destroyer and three frigates. Each cruiser doesn't work of any established design, rather they're products of their respective planet, unique in their own way. Destroyers fulfill attritionist combat duties, and frigates act as rank-and-file vessels, as well as taking up the more specialist roles using mission packages, such as Electronic Warfare, Advanced Early Warning, Triage and troop transport. Each Strike Fleet has a complement of a one Planetary Regiment, known as [planet name] regiment, sourced from their host planet. Each planet also organises their own Territorial Army in accordance with the Commonwealth Strategic Defence Framework. Weapons at this stage mainly consist of mass drivers driven by coils, metalstorm CIWS, sub-munitions carried on non-retrievable drones.
Doctrine: Because the NodeDrive operates on fixed highways between systems, it is important to defend hardpoints which lead to otherwise unreachable systems. These hardpoints are responsible for the combat in that region, at least for a while, because reinforcements may only travel along these extra-dimensional highways, which can hardly be called direct. Fleets cannot be intercepted due to their mode of travel, and are undetectable until they reach their jump terminal. As a result, the preferred tactic is to strike quickly, destroy what you can, then retreat. Another tactic is to use the Lines to track deep into enemy territory, outrunning their fleet, to take advantage of a thin front-line. Rank is basic, tried others, too hard, so its Captain, XO, Opso and so on.
For ground units, planetfall is a sudden and direct confrontation preceded by bombing and characterised by huge firefights surrounding the beachhead on all sides. Mech platforms are used for tank, AA, and artillery mission packages, whereas the mechanised chassis is used for IFV and APC roles, as well as resupply and recovery. Bombers make strafe runs, covered by drone fighters and manned interceptors.
Army: Coilguns power basically everything. Walkers are the main platform. Warfare is very attritionist from the ground perspective. There are no characters or classes, as of yet. Watch this space.
Navy: Wasps, the anti-ship drones, carry CIWS, casaba howitzers, fusion missiles, grave torpedoes, nuclear scatter packs, and ECM pods.
Frigates, Destroyers and Cruisers are basically uprated and upscaled weapons-wise, so basically there's point defense, spinal mounts, turret mounts and Wasp launch tubes.
Strengths: Ground forces, speed
Weaknesses: Weapons, number of ship based weapons, fragility of engine section.
=========================================================
NS activity: Weekly basis at least
Technological Bases: SoTS (Obviouly) Airland Battle, Petey Hamilton
