Military Revolts in Eastern Rhemonia (Open Response)

(PC)- At about 4:30 this morning, tanks rolled into the regional capital in Eastern Rhemonia. Within half an hour, the entire city, along with all other major cities and towns in the region, had fallen under control of this armed force, meeting minimal resistance.

Hardline nationalist leader Vladimir Radchenko has, with the collaboration of several generals and admirals, seized control of the entire eastern naval arm (excluding the fleet of nuclear submarines), as well as the entirety of two divisions, and elements of a third one.

The president has issued a strong condemnation to Radchenko, however, other than vague assurances of punishment, the president outlined no specific plan to retake the region, or apprehend Vladimir.

However, even with this deceleration, tonight, a thick tension descends upon the entire nation. Inside sources have reported that Air Force officials are remaining neutral, and that other military divisions in the western part of the nation may take a similar line. However, it has been confirmed that the entirety of the I corps remains totally loyal to the president.

Tonight, all air force bases and nuclear submarine base Kivlov remain on high alert. The potential for nuclear weapons to slip into the wrong hands is a major concern for many top government officials.

Other governments have yet to issues any statements.

(PC) Last night, rebel forces attacked all nuclear force positions in Easter Rhemonia, in the first widespread military action.

The pro-Radchenko forces seized several nuclear silos, totaling an estimated 30 warheads. However, silo personnel are reported to have burned key documents, destroyed launch keys, sabotaged delivery systems, and even in a few extreme cases, committed suicide or put up a fierce fight to the death.

On the naval front, pro Radchenko forces moved into the nuclear submarine base today. Base security put up fierce resistance before surrendering, with an estimated 1000 dead on both sides.

However, 4 out of 5 the nuclear submarines had taken to the sea. Their whereabouts are classified tonight. However, a single nuclear submarine is in loyalist hands.

The President indicated that armed force would be used to attempt a recapture of the region.

The air force continues to remain neutral, however inside sources report a split among top air force leadership.
