Welcome to the "Meet Your Match" thread! This thread is inspired by our critique of Deadliest Warrior, but instead of just throwing two groups of people with an assortment of weapons like the show does, we go above and beyond, going deep in to the fighting forces of each nation, and matching up each one based on a variety of subjects, from physique, to attitude, to what is expected of them. Placed in a deathmatch, the forces will battle it out to decide who is truly superior.

Originally authored by Dansay Republican Alliance and Lamplight Caverns, now Ontorisa, the influence behind this thread was simply all of the war RPs that go on in II. With all of the numbers thrown around like it's a math class, it all blends together in to an incomprehensible, not-too-fun mess. This thread aims to shine a human light on the chosen fighting force(s) of your nation, encouraging nations to expand upon those numbers on a deeper level.


DRA's Note: Hello, NationState-ers. I'm 'the other guy' so to speak, the owner of the Dansay Republican Alliance. We've seen a good few episodes of Deadliest Warrior, and the concept is definitely a good one... however, there have been a number of faux pas. (Spinal problems!) We'll avoid these as much as we can, instead focusing on the units themselves. Anyway, awkwardly crammed intro aside, send us your entries!

Little Lamplight's note: Like mentioned above, I've looked over many of the 'war' threads of this website. While they may start out strong, eventually, every one I saw devolved in to statwanking, so to speak, who has what numbers, who has this, who has that. It was like watching people debate over a game of Risk. We figured a spin on the Deadliest Warrior format would be a welcome addition, here. It gives those who like to embellish details about their nation a nice form, and we'll put them in mock battles for the fun of it. Enjoy yourselves!



It is up to you to put as much detail as you'd like in to the following form, as well as adding any miscellaneous details you so desire. However, there are a few ground rules that must be followed:

1. You can shine positive lights on different aspects of your force, you are, essentially, being both a typical representative/patriot/serviceman, as well as an unbiased giver of statistics.

2. A judge (One of the two thread creators) will be the one to analyze the data put forth, to create a result.

3. God Modders are not welcome. Period end. If your force is infallible and perfect for whatever reason, don't bother posting here.

4. We are open to all eras, from Past Tech to Future Tech, and you will be matched up based on
general era.

4a. You will also be matched based on general force purpose (We aren't going to pit elite special
forces against the regular army of another country, for example)

5. The judge writes the resulting battle and result based on the information given here.

New OP Edit: I will be laying this out in a Season type of format. PT participants will be matched up against each other and everything like that. There will be 8 matches, all will be either 4 on 4, 5 on 5 or 6 on 6. Specify in your Application please so I know whom to match up against whom. 16 participants will be accepted. If the thread continues to succeed I will expand it into Season III, with more matches. So please, leave a bit of criticism so the thread runs more smoothly. This thread will also act as both an IC and OOC thread. OPs and Co-OPs will provide the details, tests and match-ups. You just supply the names and tactics of your side.

OPERATIONAL HISTORY
Brief History/Foundation: Joint Task Force 9 'Farmer' was originally founded by cabbage farmers turned soldiers during the Cold War when Ontorisa faced off against Heratoi for the first time. The Task Force was meant to be 'hush-hush' operations such as sabotage, assassination and special operations. Silent and deadly, JTF9 is above classified and is protected by the government. Unlike the Rangers, who are public, JTF9 does not exist in files or on paper.
Greatest Success(es) (And Why) (Max. 2):
Siege of Ventasburg - During the 1st Heratoian Conflict, JTF9 lead an assault on the Heratoian capital of Ventasburg. The city, which had around 1.4 million defenders, had fought back against joint Eglasour and Ontorisan efforts. JTF9 was sent in to cut off its supply lines and destroy it from the inside out. JTF9 finished it with amazing results, around 500 000 Heratoian troops surrendered with around 250 000 killed by JTF9 alone from assaulting at nighttime or destroying key strongholds.

Training and Tactics: Joint Task Force 9 trains closely with the Ontorisan Rangers. Their training is harder and prepares them to be fighting in foreign and harsh conditions. Out of 750 candidates chosen annually, only 25 become part of Joint Task Force 9. The rest drop out or perish in training. JTF9 is meant to be the operatives who are the cream of the coop of the Ontorisan military. The best units Ontorisa has to offer.

OPERATIONAL HISTORY
Brief History/Foundation: Created during the 90's in response to the threat of heavy terrorist actions in the southern mainland provinces of the RNI. They specialize in urban warfare, both as a strike team and an elite conventional force.
Greatest Success(es) (And Why) (Max. 2): Liberation of Propolnyet (2012), a small force of UECG were able to infiltrate the provincial capital, and route the socialist Kidlantians and Ruskyetan special forces in the dead of night. When enemy reinforcements arrived the soldiers held out long enough, inflicting massive casualties on highly trained enemy units, so that Propolnyetan rebels could overrun their oppressors and take back the city.
Greatest Failure(s) (And Why) (Max. 2): Ruscheberg (1994); bad intel identified false targets, leading to an insertion into a largely civilian-occupied sector of the city. When word spread that RNI commandos had entered, the fascist Rushe National Army quickly began an indiscriminate artillery barrage which killed large numbers of UECG and civilians alike, before moving in with heavy armor, which forced RNI tank units away from the front so they could cover the retreat.
Notable Individuals (And why): Captain Vincent Alvi'coro; credited with destroying an enemy command vehicle carrying a high-ranking officer in Propolnyet at a range of 700 yards with a GPM-31 missile while taking fire with a broken ankle. He was subsequently killed; however his destruction of the Ruskyetan feild commander is one of the key factors in the victory in Propolnyet, as the Ruskyetan Army could not replace a high-ranking officer, not to mention a special forces one, as RNI, Merickian and Kenburgian forces closed in around Chechengrad to end the war.

Brief History/Foundation: Created during WW2 as a force to quickly infiltrate and disrupt enemy barracks
Greatest Success(es) (And Why) (Max. 2): The Elite Armed Forces fought against the Germans and were able to land the first and final blow against them and their dream of Rhodeve conquest. The Elite Forces were able to take out an undercover spy agency by joining their ranks and destroying it from the inside
Greatest Failure(s) (And Why) (Max. 2): Battle of Redinson: A group of EAF infiltrated a terrorist organization but were caught and tortured into joining their ranks. This lead to the formation of Rhodevus's number one terrorist organization: The Bannerless Brothers

Additional Notes : Every soldier fights as a collective unit, but every soldier has his own mind to use. Allows them to fight collectively and have many different strategies all at once but resulting in the same overall goal. They train as a unit since the beginning so they are able to work together quite well. This can also result in a no-man-left-behind instinct which is not always the greatest in high risk scenarios.

OPERATIONAL HISTORY

Brief History/Foundation: Founded in 2080, following the victory of the NFE over the USA. The Chairman himself chose the most efficient Rangers on record, and made them his personal guard. After his death in 2098, Emperor Stark reformed the Black Guard. He stopped taking in Rangers, and started experimenting with gene therapy and childhood conditioning. The end product was the one of the most elite fighting forces the known world has seen.

Greatest Success(es) (And Why) (Max. 2):

The Ardavian Conflict was quite a success for the Black Guard. Under Emperor Stark's command, they were put on the frontlines to deal with Ardavia's elite "Spartan" soldiers. The Spartans were much better equipped, and had greater numbers. However, due to the Black Guard's expertise in wilderness combat and stealth, most Spartans met their match. Out of the 150 Black Guardsmen deployed, only 5 of them are reported KIA by the end of the war. This is truly something, considering out of the hundreds of Ardavian Spartans deployed, only a few dozen made it back.

Greatest Failure(s) (And Why) (Max. 2):

The Black Guard's biggest failure was their inability to protect Emperor Brown during his visit to Colonial Japan in 2281. UDAP veterans had formed a terrorist organization to strike back at the NFE. These terrorists had been planning to assassinate the Emperor for days, reportedly. When he was walking out of the Imperial Diet Building, conspirators had occupied the gathering crowd in many places. To fool the Black Guard, several reached inside their pockets to simulate grabbing a weapon. Once they saw that the Guardsmen had their eyes trained on the few distractors, a child in the crowd approached Brown. Looking harmless, Brown crouched down to speak with him. It wasn't until that moment, Brown and the Guard realized the child was holding a live hand grenade. The suicide bombing killed Brown, and the Guards closest to him. The terrorists managed to take advantage of the Guardsmens' perception and turn it against them.


UNIT STATISTICS
Service Requirement (If Any): All Black Guardsmen are born into their positions.

Training and Tactics: Once every few months, the Empire dispatches "buyers" into poor neighborhoods. Pregnant women who feel they cannot take care of their upcoming child are paid a hefty sum of Digital Credits. The mother is required to let the baby undergo gene therapies while in the womb. These procedures clean the baby of any deformities, and make the child come out strong. After it's born, the government takes the child away to a camp. In this camp, they spend their childhood training and learning. At age 6, the children are required behead a prisoner brought into the camp for this purpose with a kukri machete. They are to stay in the room with the prisoner until it is done. At 12, the children, naked and armed only with their prized machete, are thrown into stadiums with criminals dressed in leather armor and axes. If the children fail, they die. If they succeed, they continue their training.

At 14, the children are quite developed. Girls average about 6'5, and boys about 6'9. They are given a pistol with limited ammunition, their machete they have been holding since age 6, a suit of leather armor, and a day's worth of food and water. They are then deployed in the North American Jungle, relying only on their training for survival. They are expected to return to the nearest supercity within a week's time. When they return, they are declared members of the Black Guard. Until they hit 17, they accompany other Black Guardsmen into the jungle, hunting Red Men and Rebels to get first-hand combat experience.

Drugs and cybernetic augmentation are rarely used in the Black Guard. It's not unheard of for Black Guardsmen to get augmentations under the command of the Emperor or Empress in charge, but it's usually regarded as frivolous, since cybernetics and brain implants could interfere with natural conditioning. Improvement drugs, while usually harmless, are a bit addictive.

Black Guardsmen usually rely on stealth. They use their cloaking technology and natural light-footedness to traverse even the most heavily occupied areas undetected. They are also terrific marksmen, and can hit moving targets from over a mile away on average. They can adjust to most fighting styles when necessary. They are masters in several forms of martial arts. Marksmanship is a main skill, obviously. Years of practicing with their machetes has also given them a great edge in swordsmanship.

General Purpose/Specialty: Protection of the Emperor and the Imperial Ministry, Black Operations, Counter-Insurgency

EQUIPMENT EMPLOYED

Uniform/Worn Equipment

Black Guards use a liquid body armor. Upon impact, the projectile instantly attracts millions of iron particles inside the gel. Once the particles stack, the bullet's force is absorbed by the particles. The combat gear itself is reinforced with ceramic plates and leather. The gear also includes a trench coat, but it's mainly for show. The coat can be removed at will, but it's preferred for soldiers to keep it on unless it threatens their effectiveness.

The helmet is made of a ceramic-based material. The optical systems give the wearer the best possible vision-to-protection ratio. The helmet has night and infrared visions built in. It can also hook up to the user's databoy to track targets. The helmet also has a respirator to allow oxygen in, and everything else out. This makes them nearly completely resistant to toxins and gas.

Morale: The Black Guard shows no attitude to their duty. They always do it, no matter what the situation may be. They don't care if their side is winning or losing. They only care about doing what their superiors say.

Under Fire: Destroy the aggravators. Stay in cover, and prioritize self-preservation if possible. If ordered otherwise, follow it.

Facing Failure: Regroup and correct the failure, if possible. Otherwise, stand ground until your dying breath.

Combatant Name: Suburban/Urban Crumlarkian Combatant Specialist (SUCCS, pronounced like the word 'sooks', plural pronounced 'sookses')

Branch of Military (If Applicable): Homeland Security/Domestic Forces

Time in History: The equipment and strategies listed pertain to the SUCCSes during the Modern Era.

OPERATIONAL HISTORY
Brief History/Foundation: During a time of political turmoil in the 1940's known as 'World War II', rising amounts of those seeking refugee status within its borders also was accompanied by heavily conflicting cultures, and with this conflict came large nationalist riots where enraged forces of rag-tag refugees that seeked asylum in Crumlark clashed violently. Such public displays of aggression threatened the stability of the fledgling nation. Thus, the SUCCS's were developed with the intention of subduing the riots. Brief History/Foundation: The creation of the DM occurred in the early 18th century when King Lucius Cyipan discovered a spy within his own court. Selected from the best of the best, a 50 man crack-squad was created to hunt down foreign espionage agents. This original DM faction was closely regarded by the Kings until the 1890s Communist Revolution.

3 DM members were publicly hung in the streets as part of the destruction of the monarchy. It is estimated that around 200 DM members existed at this time. All went into hiding and never showed their faces until 1906 when Johnthon Micéll took over power. During the rein of the Micéll's the DM flourished.

The modern DM is considered CE-SO (Counter Espionage and Special Operations) and is the undisputed top dog on the I.L chain of Special Operations.

Greatest Success(es) (And Why) (Max. 2): Raid on Saltimoore: Throughout the history of the DM, one single raid stands out. In 1989 the ever hated Government of Kyro to the South of Isle of Lost forcefully landed a Boeing 747 packed full of I.L citizens to land at Saltimoore airport. These citizens were put on ransom for extremely high prices. Long story short, a team of 12 DM agents entered the airport under alias expected to only fight a few soldiers at most.

This assumption was wrong as it turned out the airport was packed full of over 200 troops. Long story short, the 12 DM members fought their way through the airport to the hostages, then back out, then onto a plane, then home. Only 2 members were wounded and a single civilian worker was killed.

Greatest Failure(s) (And Why) (Max. 2): Communist Revolution of 1897: Flaws in the DM were emphasized when random revolutionaries were able to discover the identity of 26 DM members. The DM offically collapsed until 1906.

Brief History/Foundation: Formed as a "fast attack unit" during the Cold War, these semi-elite soldiers saw action in the various socialist states of North Gueroca. They slowly evolved into a rapid-deployment crack trooper battalion. Their service record involves flying in hot and quickly taking down, and almost always physically beating the enemy whenever possible.
Greatest Success(es) (And Why) (Max. 2): Rise of Marcon D'Ruoja (Red Ocean) in the Halmero Strip. They were able to fly in and attack enemy forces with their Mi-35m gunships before quickly disembarking and clearing six city blocks of terrorists in less than an hour with only 15 total casualties, mostly wounded.
Greatest Failure(s) (And Why) (Max. 2): Battle of Olvero Ridge. They were flown in to suppress Guerocan Army units harassing RNI Marines. However, their Mi-35 gunships had not been upgraded with IR suppresors and allowed enemy heat-seeking missiles an easy time taking down the helos before the crack troopers could cause chaos among enemy lines.
Notable Individuals (And why): Staff Sargeant Piere Vinceti; lone combat-capable survivor when his helicopter crashed. He quickly tended to the wounded in the chopper, before running two miles back to friendly lines under fire, and was able to gather a medium-sized platoon to extract the wounded.

OPERATIONAL HISTORY
Brief History/Foundation: The Hegemony Special Operations force was founded in the 1920s, groups of Hegemony men and women who had gone above and beyond what was required by the government in assisting the state. It grew especially well durring both the Patriotic war and cold war that followed. Presently they are seen as the right hand of the Army, obeying without hesitation or objection to even the most suicidal missions
Greatest Success(es) (And Why) (Max. 2):
Defeat at Station 343: In this battle the Hegemony Special Operations force served as a rear guard to allow the army to regroup and protect the capital. This small research outpost and accompanying town was defended by 80 of the HSF, who were informed the remaining civilian population was expendable. The forward army that was sent through the town conisted of about 1,000 men operating in a mechanized unit. The HSF was able to kill 348 (Official propaganda though puts it at 998) this was done while protecting the civilians, conducting scorched earth policies, and dragging the battle out for 8 days. Though the people were killed to the man, Zepplien remembers this as what turned the tide of the war.
Greatest Failure(s) (And Why) (Max. 2):
Education Centre 938 Uprising: When the Hegemony sent the HSF to respond to an uprising by teenagers, they expected the matter to be taken care of quietly, and effectively. Team after team was sent in to combat the students, though by miracles they managed to stop all 480 troops sent to stop them. In the end the Hegemony used a nuclear weapon and kindly removed Educational Centre 938 from all files not deemed Top Secret, Admirals Eyes only.
Notable Individuals (And why): None, the Hegemony applies prestige to the government group, not individual.

UNIT STATISTICS
Service Requirement (If Any): 2 years service in the Military, Selection by current team leaders, or Placement by Admiral
Training and Tactics: Each member is placed with a Commissar and Interrogator once selected, the two giving a 2 week torture and interigation simulation. This breaks approximately 10-15% of the candidates. The remaining people are separated into squads and dropped into one of Zepplien's deserts and given the simple objective of surviving for a month with a 2 week supply of food, this kills approximately 45% of the candidates. Once the 'weakest' are dealt with the real training begins, hardships not forced on the worst prisoners are forced on the often young students, for up to two months until the final 300 remain. These students are treated to a massive state dinner, then are forced into a final live fire 150 vs 150 capture the flag engagement until one side wins, or only 150 students remain, these are considered the graduates.

Also, if it ever comes up, they don't say God, instead they say Marx. They also rely a lot more on brute force, mines, and numbers than anything. Also another point, they have a last name followed by code for names, like Romaov 30044, or Gustav 50083.

OPERATIONAL HISTORY
Brief History/Foundation: The Zelino which in translated from Vedian means Berserkers, were introduced in the early 1950s, first as simple raiders, and if they can't get out they were trained to deal the damage they could before being killed. The forces of the modern Zelino have their roots for the most part with older Zelino, and the tradition of becoming a berserker for the Vedic is long lived.
Greatest Success(es) (And Why) (Max. 2): Battle for the Southern Isles; Two companies of Zelino soldiers were ordered to take and hold the sourthern isles, to expand Vedian lands. The soldiers had been launched using rubber speed boats, and fought for eight hours to take the islands, although the lost twenty seven men, and thirty eight were wounded they managed to take the isles.
Greatest Failure(s) (And Why) (Max. 2): Battle for St.Mathias; Three squads of Zelino soldiers along with a company of allied Sea Guards were ordered to hold an invading force of twelve thousand from taking the city, which was in itself a suicide mission. The Zelino were utterly obliterated, and the city was turned into unrecognizable ruin. The Zelino fought to the very last man to hold the city, but stood chance against the attacking forces who vastly outnumbered them.

UNIT STATISTICS
Service Requirement (If Any): Age of 20, must be native to the country.
Training and Tactics: Training lasts for one years with grueling physical training in the snowy mountains of the Vedic homeland, in which if you fail to complete a course you are moderately beaten and told to do it again. This is followed by marksmanship training, and an intense simulated battle which lasts one week. There are no tactics that the Zelino are famous for using, but their fierce loyalty and willingness to die instead of face capture is well known.
Unit Size: 5-10, Combat team is five man strong.
General Purpose/Specialty: Raiding, their main purpose is to either invade a territory, or if they get stuck or have no chance of escape, fight to death, and deal the damage they can.

EQUIPMENT EMPLOYED
Uniform/Worn Equipment: I have no picture for this, but anyway. They are equipped with steel, surrounded by kevlar; german style helmets. Use "dragonscale" body armor, which is made of rectangular pieces of kevlar which are then layered. Have steel plating for groin protection.
Primary Arm (Include specialties such as marksman rifles): M-4 Commando, M14 Marksmanship rifle.

Judge's Edges

Training - 506th gets it hands down. HYL never specified what their training was.

Tactics - 506th gets it again. HYL never specified what their tactics were.

Uniform - Now this is where it gets interesting. I do adore the 506th's uniform and its practicality but it won't work in situations like the desert. Black on white sand won't work. On the other hand, HYL's Digital Camouflage can be woven into any type of environment. For this, it goes to the Heratoians.

Weapons

Primary Rifles: HYL's Steyr AUG versus 506th's HK416

The Heratoian AUG is a more recent Austrian invention of a new assault rifle, however, it has been known to jam, once or twice. The HK416 is an amazing rifle with spectacular accuracy. The AUG is a well designed and well built gun, but its cons of jamming out weigh the pros of accuracy and easy modification. Plus, you just cannot overcome the German Engineering of the 416.

Marksman Rifles: HYL's FN CAL versus 506th's M14

FN CAL is more modern, has a higher velocity, lighter and bigger magazine capacity. The M14 cannot stand up to it at all. Even though the M14 is being used in modern armies, the FN CAL is similar to the widely used FN FAL.

Squad Support Weapons: HYL's AUG /Hbar Light Machine Gun versus 506th's M4A1 with Drum Magazine

We see the AUG again, but in an LMG format. The M4A1 is primarily meant as an assault rifle, but adding a drum magazine seriously flaws it in my mind. The AUG/Hbar LMG was actually crafted for this duty with no reattaching a magazine. The M4A1 would put up a good fight, but the AUG/Hbar, despite its flaws, comes out on top.

Secondary Weapons: HYL's Glock 17 versus 506th's MP412 Rex

Here we see the lighter, more round carrying and semi-automatic Glock 17 versus the Russian made heavier, higher calibre and revolver MP412 Rex. It is simple, you put more work into the MP412 Rex than you do with the Glock. The priming and everything with the flawed revolver action would make the first shot go off and a possibly slow recovery.

Tertiary: It really comes down to the frags and shotguns of the two. I really love the 506th's tertiary layout with the automatic shotguns, bayonets and such, but they have no frag grenades. You can't properly win a close quarters fight without frags. However, they make up for it in firepower and hand to hand combat.

I'm calling this a draw, since the HYL has no hand to hand weapons.

Misc. Equipment: Canteens and Utility knives versus a next generation rifle camera, NVGs, binoculars, Interhelmet radio and HUD and laser pointers?

Physical Stats:

You have multiple possibilities with multiple heights. 506th takes it.

Weight: 230 lbs versus 140 - 200 lbs.

I think the HYL may be a bit too large for this fight, but in a close quarters combat, weight means everything. Period.

Build: Medium versus Lean but Buff

Easy, the 506th could outpace the HYL.

Morale: I do love how the 506th can try and intimidate their opponents, but the cold and calculating HYL, I don't think they would be broken easily. Standing their ground to try and allow friendly forces escape to fight another day seems to 'Shakespearean' to me, I mean, retreat when you need to, this is war, not the Middle Ages.

Pre-Battle Predictions: I think the 506th is going to take this. They might be at a disadvantage in weapons, but their morale and build will, I think and hope, ultimately win this battle for them.

Battlefield

The two sides will start off in a valley where a small village has been set up on a river. There are 6 houses on the 506th's side of the river and 4 on HYL's side of the river. Farms have been set up all over the place and forests and mountains surround the village.

Oh shit, I forgot to add that the 506th uses M60E4's as LMG's, especially that critical point when the helicopter is bellow 40m and closing on the ground.
Also not all M4A1's are equipped with the 100-round drum mag, just some of them and the ones that do usually go without a scope, utilizing just a red dot for "sweeping" from the hip.

OPERATIONAL HISTORY
Originally started in the middle ages, the Wolves of Rentalla was an order of knights who took on especially dangerous tasks on the battlefield. Over the years they continued to be Rentalla's premier fighting force. They have the distinction of being the only unit to not surrender during the Trenn invasion of Rentalla. They are still the top military unit in the nation, and have seen combat in every conflict rentalla has ever been a part of, giving them a familiarity with a large amount of terrain types, and conditions.
Greatest Success(es) (And Why) (Max. 2): The third battle of kiraia. During the Trenn occupation the remnants of the Rentallan army attempted to recapture their capitol. the Wolves led the assault punching through the enemy's lines, and getting deep into the city. the rest of the army fell apart quickly, leaving the Wolves surrounded. Over the course of the next week the Rentallans fought the Trenn army without reinforcements or adequate supplies. They were able to fight their way out of the city and escape into the mountains. This act is revered by current members because it is viewed as the ultimate example of endurance in battle.
Greatest Failure(s) (And Why) (Max. 2): During the Sheragos war a former Rentallan general used mercenaries to take over a small country. The wolves were sent in to kill him. They stormed the mansion where he was staying. In their rush to get to him they neglected to come properly prepared. As a result Fourteen civilians died, and the target got away. They had been forced into a firefight against a large number of mercenaries, and retreated. The entire unit was discharged. It is often used now as a lesson in proper planning and preparation.

UNIT STATISTICS
Service Requirement (If Any): Age of 22, and must have served in the Rentallan military for no less than two years
Training and Tactics: Training lasts for two years, and is infamously brutal. All who start are required to finish. The period of training is broken up into eight month blocks where the recruits are trained in a variety of climates, and terrains. they must keep exceptionally fit. Training practices include simulated battles were the recruits must stay awake, and fight for over twenty four hours, endure simulated torture, fight simulated battles after receiving a light beating, and regular runs in full equipment. All members are required to master Krav Maga.
Unit Size: each fire team is made up of six personnel.
General Purpose/Specialty: The Wolves of Rentalla act as an elite fighting force, usually being deployed to areas where the fighting is heaviest. They also take part in special operations, such as missions behind enemy lines, VIP assassinations, etc.

TACTICS
The wolves of Rentalla are known for using dirty tactics. They love the feigned retreat. The will often set up ambushes, and send out soldiers to draw their enemies in.

Additional Notes : Every soldier fights as a collective unit, but every soldier has his own mind to use. Allows them to fight collectively and have many different strategies all at once but resulting in the same overall goal. They train as a unit since the beginning so they are able to work together quite well. This can also result in a no-man-left-behind instinct which is not always the greatest in high risk scenarios.

OPERATIONAL HISTORY
Brief History/Foundation: Created during the 90's in response to the threat of heavy terrorist actions in the southern mainland provinces of the RNI. They specialize in urban warfare, both as a strike team and an elite conventional force.
Greatest Success(es) (And Why) (Max. 2): Liberation of Propolnyet (2012), a small force of UECG were able to infiltrate the provincial capital, and route the socialist Kidlantians and Ruskyetan special forces in the dead of night. When enemy reinforcements arrived the soldiers held out long enough, inflicting massive casualties on highly trained enemy units, so that Propolnyetan rebels could overrun their oppressors and take back the city.
Greatest Failure(s) (And Why) (Max. 2): Ruscheberg (1994); bad intel identified false targets, leading to an insertion into a largely civilian-occupied sector of the city. When word spread that RNI commandos had entered, the fascist Rushe National Army quickly began an indiscriminate artillery barrage which killed large numbers of UECG and civilians alike, before moving in with heavy armor, which forced RNI tank units away from the front so they could cover the retreat.
Notable Individuals (And why): Captain Vincent Alvi'coro; credited with destroying an enemy command vehicle carrying a high-ranking officer in Propolnyet at a range of 700 yards with a GPM-31 missile while taking fire with a broken ankle. He was subsequently killed; however his destruction of the Ruskyetan feild commander is one of the key factors in the victory in Propolnyet, as the Ruskyetan Army could not replace a high-ranking officer, not to mention a special forces one, as RNI, Merickian and Kenburgian forces closed in around Chechengrad to end the war.

Oh good. Shame LL couldn't finish his, but I want to see the BG kick some ass, finally. :p Anyways, I'd really like it if I could face off against whoever I was about to on the last thread. However, since they haven't posted yet, you can match me up with someone else in the meantime.

OPERATIONAL HISTORY

Brief History/Foundation: Founded in 2080, following the victory of the NFE over the USA. The Chairman himself chose the most efficient Rangers on record, and made them his personal guard. After his death in 2098, Emperor Stark reformed the Black Guard. He stopped taking in Rangers, and started experimenting with gene therapy and childhood conditioning. The end product was the one of the most elite fighting forces the known world has seen.

Greatest Success(es) (And Why) (Max. 2):

The Ardavian Conflict was quite a success for the Black Guard. Under Emperor Stark's command, they were put on the frontlines to deal with Ardavia's elite "Spartan" soldiers. The Spartans were much better equipped, and had greater numbers. However, due to the Black Guard's expertise in wilderness combat and stealth, most Spartans met their match. Out of the 150 Black Guardsmen deployed, only 5 of them are reported KIA by the end of the war. This is truly something, considering out of the hundreds of Ardavian Spartans deployed, only a few dozen made it back.

Greatest Failure(s) (And Why) (Max. 2):

The Black Guard's biggest failure was their inability to protect Emperor Brown during his visit to Colonial Japan in 2281. UDAP veterans had formed a terrorist organization to strike back at the NFE. These terrorists had been planning to assassinate the Emperor for days, reportedly. When he was walking out of the Imperial Diet Building, conspirators had occupied the gathering crowd in many places. To fool the Black Guard, several reached inside their pockets to simulate grabbing a weapon. Once they saw that the Guardsmen had their eyes trained on the few distractors, a child in the crowd approached Brown. Looking harmless, Brown crouched down to speak with him. It wasn't until that moment, Brown and the Guard realized the child was holding a live hand grenade. The suicide bombing killed Brown, and the Guards closest to him. The terrorists managed to take advantage of the Guardsmens' perception and turn it against them.


UNIT STATISTICS
Service Requirement (If Any): All Black Guardsmen are born into their positions.

Training and Tactics: Once every few months, the Empire dispatches "buyers" into poor neighborhoods. Pregnant women who feel they cannot take care of their upcoming child are paid a hefty sum of Digital Credits. The mother is required to let the baby undergo gene therapies while in the womb. These procedures clean the baby of any deformities, and make the child come out strong. After it's born, the government takes the child away to a camp. In this camp, they spend their childhood training and learning. At age 6, the children are required behead a prisoner brought into the camp for this purpose with a kukri machete. They are to stay in the room with the prisoner until it is done. At 12, the children, naked and armed only with their prized machete, are thrown into stadiums with criminals dressed in leather armor and axes. If the children fail, they die. If they succeed, they continue their training.

At 14, the children are quite developed. Girls average about 6'5, and boys about 6'9. They are given a pistol with limited ammunition, their machete they have been holding since age 6, a suit of leather armor, and a day's worth of food and water. They are then deployed in the North American Jungle, relying only on their training for survival. They are expected to return to the nearest supercity within a week's time. When they return, they are declared members of the Black Guard. Until they hit 17, they accompany other Black Guardsmen into the jungle, hunting Red Men and Rebels to get first-hand combat experience.

Drugs and cybernetic augmentation are rarely used in the Black Guard. It's not unheard of for Black Guardsmen to get augmentations under the command of the Emperor or Empress in charge, but it's usually regarded as frivolous, since cybernetics and brain implants could interfere with natural conditioning. Improvement drugs, while usually harmless, are a bit addictive.

Black Guardsmen usually rely on stealth. They use their cloaking technology and natural light-footedness to traverse even the most heavily occupied areas undetected. They are also terrific marksmen, and can hit moving targets from over a mile away on average. They can adjust to most fighting styles when necessary. They are masters in several forms of martial arts. Marksmanship is a main skill, obviously. Years of practicing with their machetes has also given them a great edge in swordsmanship.

Black Guards use a liquid body armor. Upon impact, the projectile instantly attracts millions of iron particles inside the gel. Once the particles stack, the bullet's force is absorbed by the particles. The combat gear itself is reinforced with ceramic plates and leather. The gear also includes a trench coat, but it's mainly for show. The coat can be removed at will, but it's preferred for soldiers to keep it on unless it threatens their effectiveness.

The helmet is made of a ceramic-based material. The optical systems give the wearer the best possible vision-to-protection ratio. The helmet has night and infrared visions built in. It can also hook up to the user's databoy to track targets. The helmet also has a respirator to allow oxygen in, and everything else out. This makes them nearly completely resistant to toxins and gas.

Facing Failure: Regroup and correct the failure, if possible. Otherwise, stand ground until your dying breath.
