I hope you guys know this wont all be trench warfare. even in world war one there were still faster flowing more open battles on the eastern front and in the middle east.

Invade from Turkey and/or invade Spain.

A person owns Spain and no one knows his allegiance. Go through Turkey? You would just get involved in a border war that wouldn't be effected by your presence at all.
