Prem, I was wondering if it would be possible to "sponsor" one of the Azoni Cliques and help them dominate the others. Once in control, they then ally with the race that helped them gain power. So it'd be like multiple different species each funding a different Azoni clique to gain influence.

That's the primary reason the Sar'dakur are staying within the Federation.

Well, after they invade and conquer half of the Second Republic, I doubt the Oog will be very happy with the Hunzoi.

By the way, TNF, I had a great idea. You know why the Jin Dynasty never invaded Southern China? The Yangtze. So I was thinking, maybe the Oog have something similar to the Yangtze or the Yellow, like a hyperspace/gravitational anomaly, except it's like a river, flowing from the center of the galaxy outwards. The Hunzoi would try to cross, and the Oog would finally be able to stop them, because the Hunzoi wouldn't be used to flying in hyperspace anomalies like this one, and the Oog would be, so they'd be able to defeat them. If that sounds okay to you.

Would anyone else want a hyperspace river?

Once the Space Yangtze is reached, the Hunzoi would likely only send native Oogish auxiliaries to attack beyond it. If that didn't work they'd get the Oog to agree to peace with the Yangtze being the official border. A 'I can't crush you without throwing myself over the edge and you won't have the strength to fight me' sort of treaty.

Afterwards, the Hunzoi Empire will likely resume trade with the Southern Oog.

I think that once I've conquered all the land I'm set on conquering I'll have a foreign assassin successfully mortally wound my Korghuz (my Genghis/Attila). His dying wish will be for the total extermination of the nation the assassin came from.

Native auxiliaries...that'd be a big mistake. My Space Yue Fei would crush them with his fleet of Space river boats.

Not really. He'll simply divide his empire into several semi-indepedent nations to keep his sons from fighting, whilst appointing his eldest as the Grand Khagan, just as was done with the Mongol Empire.

IRL, the Mongol Empire actually expanded more after Genghis' death.

Aside from a few little squabbles, yes. But by the time of Kublai Khan (which was like one generation later), things were already split between the Yuan, the Middle Eastern guys, and the Golden Horde in Russia. Kublai was only Khan in name, he was really just Emperor of China.

My point is even if it stays stable after his death, when the Mongols stopped expanding, their empire collapsed. And even when it was still stable, succession was a little bit chancy.
