After I clean up the fiasco with New Tyran at Cyningesport, I'm going to launch several attacks on Southwood, and burn the morale diminishing barrier.

Well yes, in the long run the sheer horror of it will severely demoralize the army, especially the idealist recruits in the reserves. But the immediate reaction of the forward force will be to seek justice/revenge with an all-out attack. And, of course, a unit charging without orders can really throw the tactical situation into disarray for the attacker.

It works either way. Morale will either take a hit, effecting courage and performance, or it will take enough of a boost to make your soldiers dedicated enough to be reckless.

How is it going to create a happy medium if you were going against fascistic murderers in the first place? Are your troops going to just see thousands of women and children impaled with spikes, most still alive, some with "NFE" carved into their flesh with hot plasma blades and just go "Meh"?

It'll strengthen their resolve to fight even more, the allies come to mind after finding the first concentration camp.
