Uprising in Caxan Colony (MT Open)

Postby Caxan » Fri Jul 26, 2013 10:44 pm

It was not a dark and stormy night, but it should have been. Three men rolled a barrel up a hill in the pale moonlight. On reaching its summit they stood up and paused, before pushing it down the other side. It rolled and jumbled, flipped and spun through the air, only coming to a stop when it impacted the building at the bottom of the hill. With a flip of a switch, it exploded, sending concrete, glass and dirt everywhere. The youngest of the men let out a whoop, the other two watched in silence as the building burned.

The town was quickly awakened, people rushed to their windows, but did not venture to go out. The fire alarm went unheeded at the station. The occupants of the buildings, officials from Caxan fled across the street and looked in wonder at the blaze. That is when the shooting started.

Back in Caxan, the news was a shock. They had always seen the people of the Caxan Polynesia as their friends and countrymen. Sure, there had been protests lately, but no one thought to take them seriously. The Grand Duke was enraged, it had been a while since he visited the small island nation, and now this, bombing government buildings and shooting unarmed officials. He did not think twice before he ordered the army deployed to restore peace.

The President of the URA was awoken in his sleep. The reason, a priority call from the National Intelligence Agency's Director. Communication intercepts indicated an incident in the territory of Caxan. Currently, reason and situation unknown. The President sighed, thought a foul act the NIA Director could do to himself for awakening him at this hour, and told the Director to watch the incident and Caxan as a whole closely. The President then promptly went back to his warm bed.

Premier Khalid Bashaar of Leningrad Union was interrupted during his dinner with his cabinet and family with surprising news of an uprising in a land far away. Khalid didn't know what to think at first. Why would he care? His minister of foreign affairs stood up and said, "We may have earned ourselves a potential ally. If they rebels adopt a doctrine of Socialism and are against the abomination know as the World Assembly, they will be completely aligned with our nation. I will organize a trip for diplomats to talk to these people so we can negotiate possible funding." Khalid nodded and continued to drink his sparkling water.

The commander of the Liberation Front of Polynesia sat in his makeshift office, hidden in the jungle. The radio played Wagner as he was approached by one of his subordinates. "Kade, foreigners have arrived on the islands. They represent the Leningrad Union, and wish to support us establish a socialist state" the subordinate informed his leader. "Socialism, hmmm" mused Kade. "Well I suppose that could be useful. Arrange a meeting on the south beach with the foreigners, I will send Matthias to meet with them."

Alvin Lipschitz, the Leningrad Union minister of foreign affairs walks towards to rebel leader.

"Hello, nice to meet you. I am interested in supporting your revolution. Currently, we are at war with Oceasia which is not that far away. We could redirect some of our planes to bring soldiers over here. We will also continue to send aid to your nation if your uprising is successful. I can organize our top generals to train your army. The Leningrad Union just ask three things of you. A Socialist government, a trading deal with us and a declaration of war on Oceasia. Now, is that too much too ask?" Alvin says in a friendly manner.

Matthias paused to think upon hearing the Minister's request. "A socialist government, is what we want, although, it will not be too radical. That revolution will happen over time" he answered "and a trade deal, we would be glad to negotiate." He paused again, sounding unsure. "I am not sure we will be able to wage war against such a foe as Oceasia, especially, since after we will have fought another one here. However, I think we could give you some material support, and allow your ships to use our ports. First, we must win our freedom. How many troops can you send? It is urgent, because Caxan will send thousands, while we only have hundreds."

"So far, the plan is to send about 2,500 soldiers to defend yourselves. For now, could we annex some of the coastline? We will pay 3.78 billon NSD for 1,000 square miles scattered on the shore. It would also benefit you because we would be right next to you. I am aware that this might bring us into a war with Caxan, but I wish to take the risk for the further advancement of our peoples." Alvin says.

The government of the United Kingdom of Kent sends its regards by the orders of King Edward VII, he and the goverment of Kent wish to offer its support to Caxan government .

We ask you provide us with intelligence of enemy forces, and for permission to deploy a small task force involving the 1 Brigade of the 1st Airborne Division.

This force would assist in counter insurgency operations and in security operations. We ask for permission to use a airfield on the island for our logistics or if one is not present the chance to build a small airstrip for our planes.

We wish to aid you in your war, and will happily send the 13th Fighter Division and 83rd Paratroopers to aid you. The rest of our forces are tied up in Kernan and the surrounding area. We ask in return an area to land our fighters. They will be arriving shortly on the SDS Pale Mare, one of our finest carriers. The force will be under the command of General Alexander Horation.

Premier Khalid Bashaar goes up to the podium for a surprise press conference.

"I see that we may have a new war brewing. This may or may not be tied to the Kernan war. There is a rebellion in Caxan's Polynesian colony. The rebels are politically aligned with us and we share common values. We will be sending troops to defend them and an air base is being constructed because of their neighbor Oceasia. We may run into trouble with other nations such as Caxan and the United Kingdom of Kent on the way. But that will never let us down. They may have power, but we have ideals and dignity."

Reporters ask Khalid questions about his announcement.

I agree on the Kernan War. We just need to tell our allies about this part of it.

On the Kentish overseas territory of the Cubanian Islands (a small string of islands within flight range of the islands) the 1st Brigade prepares to deploy to the Caxan Polynesia, Brigadier Sir Edward Longington walks along the lines of troops preparing their equipment, webbing was being packed, rifles checked and the troops mingled among themselves coming to attention or to the salute as the Brigadier passed.

He walked to RKAF Eastry airbases radio station to await the go ahead to give the order for his troops to depart.

We will agree to negotiate on this affair, however if these negotiations are unsatisfactory the King has given us permission to deploy further troops (to an acceptable level for the nature of this conflict). The reason we bear interest in this conflict is for two main reasons to maintain the integrity of territories around this area and to prevent the occurrence of a mass insurgency and communist uprising. We are willing to diverge from these however.

Please, do not negotiate with these nations. They have destroyed us and murdered our people systematically. They are nothing but trouble. We wish a good omen on the Polynesian invasion, we cannot help because we are currently being occupied by our shared enemies.

We will take this into consideration for our negotiations and will include you and this within any terms we may decide upon, unfortunately the people of Kent have been following the war in Kernan in the news and your threats of using chemical attacks on civilians have not made your nation popular among Kentish people.

We propose these negotiations could be extended to the whole conflict with the United Kingdom of Kent acting as a arbitrator for both sides of the conflict in these negotiations.

The government understands this, but none the less the general population does not, and still only views your nation as though it were still under the dictator.

It will take time for the people to come down from the anger over the chemical threats, and trust us when we say if negotiations do take place we will ensure your views and wishes are mentioned and known.
