Jelani paced back and forth. She gripped the paper in her hands, gazing at it in disbelief. Is this true then, Queen Sethunya? The old woman nodded, a steely look in her eyes. Are you sure this what we have to do, are there any other options?

"The nation's leader refuses to have diplomatic relations. They want to control you, plain and simple."

Fear welled up inside her, she barely had a big enough military to defend her own nation, much less to send troops over to another nation. She sat down for a moment, "I can't do this alone. But... how can I trust anyone...? They belong to such strange cultures."

The Queen sighed, "We are going to have to gain the friendship of foreign nations, we have to, if our nation is to maintain it's independance"

And thus, Jelani sent out for help.

Well, this set up is pretty simple. Someone wants to go to war with Jelani and she needs to find allies to defend herself. You can play the nation that wants to go to war with her, a neutral state, an ally of Jelani or an ally of the nation who opposes her.

Just give link to a picture of your nation's personification and it'll be fine. I'm okay with roleplaying out a personality, but try to have at least a basic idea of what the personality is like before you join. You can develop from there.

Solmakia finished his ice cream, and reclined on his beach towel. He lay out in the sun, embracing the warm Caribbean sun as the waves crashed along the shore nearby. With a pair of sunglasses, he recklessly stared right into the sun, cursing at the pain, and rolling over.

Not the smartest idea.

Of course, Solmakia loved to have fun. Fun and fighting. Well, he didn’t actually like fighting, more so the vengeance that he could wreak upon foreign nations. He remembered, as a fledging young toddler nation, how he had been shoved and pushed around by the bigger European nations. No longer.

He pulled out his tablet, and with his wireless hotspot, logged onto his E mail account where he had three advertisements, an E mail from his friend Luxa, and a new E mail. Some, call to aid. Mildly interested, he opened the E mail in question.

Jelani paused as she wrote the E-Mail, taking a deep breath and gathering her words.

Dear Solmalkia,

Someone wants to beat me up and take my territory! We've been pretty good trading partners, right? I would fight them off, but I'm not big or strong enough to do it myself. I'm not a warring-type nation, and I never have been. However, I can make a free trade agreement with our nations in return for helping me.

(This is a different RP than what they're doing in that thread (I'm just using the same idea of personifying nations). If I went there, this would only clog up that thread.)

Solmakia scratched his nose, and read the Email. Jelani...oh yes, her! That weird girl with brown skin. He chuckled to himself. She was in trouble? No problem.

He stretched himself up, and wrote a quick response.

Dear Jelani

Sure thing. I’ll get some troops over to you asap. Just hold the enemy off for a bit.

He sighed, pressed send, and went back to tanning. Sure, he was Asian, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t get more of a healthy tan.

Willhelm relaxed in his derrigible. He had a spectacular view of the brewing battle. He smiled down on the others, none the worried about himself. He probably wouldn't intervene with the affairs of the petty nations. He liked his troops at home, keeping an eye on the border, testing new weapons.

(who's going to be the other nation that's going to war with Jelani? also, I'm not sure about the tone. Maybe it'll start out lighthearted and progress into something darker? I know that Hetalia often has random things happening in it...)

Jelani was relieved. "I'm going to go talk to Solmalkia!" she called to the Queen, who was exhausted at her energetic nature. What would he be like? All she knew was that he was a good economic trading partner, and that she often bought metals from him. Of course, she borrowed the Queen's private airship (much to her dismay). This was going to be one of her first military alliances, so she didn't know how to exactly handle the situation.

The air was hot, and the sun seemed to be magnified by the beach. This was very different than her cold, inhospitable home. She spotted him, waving. She's never seen him face to face, only in pictures. "Um, hello."

Solmakia was lying down with sunglasses and a mirror.
"Hello"

He flipped over in shock. Who the hell was on his beach?
"What?" he knocked over his juice, and stood up.

Oh. It was Jelani.
Brushing off his trunks, he cleared his throat.
"Ah yes, Jelani, um, hello. So, my soldiers will be sent soon, not to worry." he said, trying to cover up his embarrassment.

Seriously. No offense, but do you know what International incidents means?
It means we RP with our nations.
Seeing as this is a DIRECT personification, this belongs in international incidents.
Furthermore, we can have a hetalia thread if we want. As the other guy said, you can make multiple threads on a similar idea. Now you're just trying to flout your nonexistent knowledge of NS.

Farisola was getting old. He wasn't necessarily old yet, but he was getting there. A little fringe of white had appeared on his beard and his hair had begun to thin. Isn't clouding my senses, though, he thought. Mind's still as sharp as always. He looked around at the many Ducal Guardsmen milling about the Palace. They seemed a bit on edge; not as well-groomed and stoic as usual. Of course, this was a unique time. The Grand Duchy hadn't prepared to go to war in a very, very long time.
Grand Duke Imbreo II had received Jelani's message for help a few days ago, and the Council had voted in favor of supporting their recently-gained allies there. An official message had been sent to their government only hours ago.

As per the terms agreed upon in our alliance, and out of mere goodwill, Grand Duke Imbreo II Sebreli and his loyal Council of Nobles have come to the conclusion that intervention in this war is necessary. 200,000 troops are being mobilized and readied, and should arrive in your nation within the end of the week via air. This initial force will be followed up with an armored division, along with all the necessary support personnel and equipment.

Farisola intended on heading there himself, though he didn't necessarily have to. As such he was dressed in a clean, well-pressed blue parade uniform, his red epaulettes carrying the markings of a Sergeant. Gonna give those nasty bastards a piece of my mind, he mused. Given I've never actually fired a gun, marched in formation, or... really done anything needed to serve in the military, but I'll learn. Wrinkling his nose a bit at the thought of firing a loud, dirty battle rifle, he began to quickly walk down the hallway towards one of the many porches adorning the building, his dark black boots clacking against the marble floor. He shortly arrived at a large door, opening it to an astounding view of the sea and Isacci Island, dimly visible in the distance.

(since this got a pretty bad start, I'm going to start again with Farisola's post. If you joined before, just make another entering post for the RP)

Jelani was without words. She had done everything to minimize her offensiveness to other nations, she only just had enough military to patrol her borders and protect her people, she was very quiet during world meetings, she made sure not to make any large statements or condemnations (no matter how much she hated something). Simply put, she was a pushover. But it worked! It worked to keep the aggressive nations at bay, it worked to maintain a modest sense of likability among most nations.

And yet, there it was. A declaration of war.

Jelani knew she was small, she herself was only around five feet and three inches. Her nation only had about twenty-six million people living with the borders, many of them immigrants and temporary workers. She didn't misuse her people, or oppress anyone. She didn't let people say just anything in public (due to hate speech laws), but most freedom of speech was protected.

She peered at the paper. "Due to expansionist greed and encroaching on our sovereign territory." Jelani was a relatively small nation in landmass as well. This could only mean one thing. She was in the way of another nation... they wanted her land. The thought terrified her. This nation had a much larger military than hers, she could only fortify her defenses and hope that it helped keep them at bay long enough. Despite her inoffensiveness, she was alone in the world. No allies, no enemies, only incentives she could give to others for help.

A servant rushed over to her, "Her Majesty has received another letter. She's requesting your audience." Jelani nodded, quietly making her way to the Queen's throne room. The old woman sat on the throne with an air of dignity. The throne was a hundreds upon hundreds of years old, used by Empress Dumisani II. The woman spoke, "Some uplifting news in these troubled times. Farisola has offered to help defend us."

"But Farisola? What would he want? We live so far apart, and I..."

"It doesn't matter. We need to take help wherever we may find it. The personification is going to stay with the army, and when we go to meet the Grand Duchy's Troops, he is going to there. Be on your best behavior, as usual, but please be firm and a little bit more assertive when you speak to him. We don't want him to get the impression that you're weak."

The pressure set on her, the servant went over to her again. "The Grand Duchy Generals and Sergeants are arriving. There are ten of them, the nation himself included." The Queen, with steely eyes, nodded. "Let's greet them."

[Farisola]

Farisola, having something of a unique position, had been hauled along ahead of the rest of the military along with the top brass; Grand Duke Imbreo II, High Councilor Ulanc Ludierno, the Minister of Defense Niccolo Miviano and General Azzini Javergri were all present, along with five Lieutenants of the Ducal Guard for both show and security. The aircraft they travelled in was modest, not a large, bulky airliner, but rather a small private jet. It was painted a shiny white, national Coat of Arms emblazoned on the fuselage, reflecting the light of the sun as it landed.

The first to walk out were the Ducal Guardsmen, who briskly made their way down the stairs, rifles slung and ready. They formed a small line, rigidly saluting as the Grand Duke descended next, followed by the General, then the Minister of Defense and High Councilor. Farisola came last, brushing a bit of hair off his neat uniform as he stepped out of the plane. He, unlike the others, had to salute the Guardsmen first, though he did so a bit indignantly. As they fell in line behind him after he passed, all of the passengers formed a neat single file line walking steadily to greet Jelani and the Empress.

Jelani caught sight of the aging man and examined him. He looked as though he were almost a bit apathetic to the formalities occurring. She smiled, just slightly, at the funny accents they had. She had never heard anything like it! The Queen sent her a reprimanding look, and she regained composure.

"Welcome to Jelani, your majesty. Hopefully, there will be more joining our alliance as time goes by. We want to thank you for offer of goodwill, but we need to get to the matter of formalizing your position." The Queen rose from her throne to shake the hand of Imbreo II, the two met each other's eyes in some form of recognition, "Jelani, entertain Farisola."

She nodded. This is what happened, naturally. Since the leaders were discussing an alliance, Jelani and Farisola would interact. She led him to the study. "So you're the nation that offered their goodwill and portions of armed forces?" She shuddered, the terms "good will" and "armed forces" were never meant to be put together, but she ignored the feeling.

"That'd be right, lass," he replied, smiling as he looked around the room. Unlike her, he had a bit of a cavalier outlook on war, and was possibly a little too eager to start the fighting. "Two-hundred thousand regulars, armed with... well, slightly outdated equipment, but well trained nonetheless." He thought for a moment, scratching his beard. "And if I'm correct some tanks too. Wish we had a decent air force, but the few aircraft we've got are all assigned to homeland defense."

He walked over to a desk and found a chair, sitting down. "What of your nation's military, then? Haven't had much of a briefing on such matters."

Elsewhere in Farisola, the newly-mobilized Expeditionary Force was undergoing it's final preparations before it shipped out to Jelani. As the call had gone out for the reserve to mobilize, thousands had shown up and been processed through training centers, not without a little encouragement from the Ducal Guard.
