I take it from your latest post C that the force field itself is visible?

Alright, posts are done.

The Coalition, using a military primarily focused on maneuverability, makes great use of armored vehicles such as Tanks, IFVs, and APCs. The following two are the most common, but are by no means a complete and total list.

The M1-56 Testudo Main Battle Tank
The Testudo MBT is the most common armored vehicle that appears on the battlefield. It is armored with between 1 foot and six inches of adamantite armor with ceramite ERA strike pads, and is crewed by three people: a gunner, a radioman, and a driver. All are seated in the middle of the tank, operating the various machines that operate the different functions of the vehicle. It is armed with one M644 130mm Smoothbore Railgun (Which fires either Depleted Uranium SABOT rounds or HE rounds), one turret-mounted M155 Heavy Railgun, and two top-mounted servo-operated M155's.

The M2-63 Battleaxe Armored Personnel Carrier
The Battleaxe is in common use in the Army. Whenever the Army needs to put infantry somewhere, they don't risk those infantry using their own jumppacks and armor to propel them into gunfire, rather, they ride in the M2-63. It is armored with between .5 and 1.5 inches of adamantite armor, and has a crew of two- a driver and a gunner. It seats up to ten armored men (fifteen unarmored), and is armed with both a M45 Heavy Rail-Autocannon and a M155 Heavy Railgun.

Voldoviana wrote:Again, was busy, will get posts out and some info on the Coalition's tanks.

Also, Canuck, some pieces of advice for your Armored Corps:

1. Try and make a central chassis and build all the other armored vehicles (except any IFV's) on top of it. It'll save time in logistical issues and it'll make sure your engineers aren't overworked.
2. Never put two guns on a tank. It's never worked in the real world for a reason. Why are you putting two guns on a single tank unless you have the room, and if you have the room (which I seriously doubt), why don't you just put one, bigger gun on there that'll be able to penetrate more armor, and will take up less space with its ammo?
3. This is more from the artwork, but it's a huge pet peeve of mine: quad tracked tanks. Don't. You're asking for four times the more most common injuries which take tanks out of battle.
4. If you have tanks and IFV's, why do you have Mechs alongside them?

Arcerion wrote:@Canucklad That is a lot of tanks. The logistics of your army must be amazing, as having that many parts and resources to keep all those different vehicles running is scary. Definitely some cool vehicles in there though.

Wandering Argonians wrote:Canuck, I'd advise possibly rolling a lot of the functionality into a single vehicle chassis. From there, develop different turret configurations to suit the roles of Main Battle Tank, Tank Destroyer, Mobile Artillery, etc. Also, don't forget to include a tank recovery vehicle in there somewhere as well. Vehicles get stuck quite often, tanks included.

Having a standardized chassis would streamline the logistics portion of implementation, allowing your military to keep one set of standard tracks, hubs, engines, engine components, etc. It will also streamline the training of troops to drive these vehicles, since the controls would remain the same, at least in terms of steering and such.

Also, perhaps a single main battle tank would suffice? :)

I will address the problems as they appear.

1. Why so many things?
2. Why don't I use a single chassis?
3. Recovery Vehicles?
4. Mechs?
5. Why are they varied?
6. Double Barrels?

1. Well, I download tonnes of pictures from the internet because I can't make my own stuff. Yes, I admit it, I just 'stole' all of these pictures and am planning on implementing SOME of them in my military. I guess I should've mentioned that I'm not putting them all in my army...

2. Again, I don't stick to a single artist/game where I can use just one chassis. I can't find myself enough good pictures to find a great amount of awesome vehicles that I like.

3. Oops. I forgot.

4. Mechs are pretty cool. I found myself interested in Walking Tanks after playing Command and Conquer and seeing how amazing they looked. From then on, I just loved the awesome power of 2 or 4 legged tanks that can send fear into an enemy.

5. Again, I can't have as many things that are the same because I don't usually stay with one artist/fiction.

6. I only recently learned that Double Barrelled tanks don't do shit. However, they still do look cool. Hey, there are double barrelled vehicles out there. I've seen one, in Canada of all places! (Wasn't a tank though)

And there. I have answered. If you guys want the stats that I wanted to implement, then please say so.

Considering the crew of the Columbus is asleep, I kind of need to have someone else post something involving contact with them before I can post again...until they wake up. But it's only been like an hour.

You all seem to be introducing realism to this. I like FT because it is more imaginative. It has more room for creativity. And in that vein, the pride of the Chivalric Order's armour is the Mk. 1 'Hammer of Absolution'. The Mk. 1 is primarily a siege tank, though due to supply shortages and the assorted other problems, will often be used as battle tanks. They individually weigh fifty tons and have a top speed of fifty-five kilometres per hour, as a result of their dual fusion engines. Their armour is a composite of adamantium, plasteel, and ceramite, making it incredibly sturdy. In addition, they are equipped with voild shield barriers. It has two crewmen, a driver and a messenger, who is in charge of the communications systems. All other duties are performed by on board artificial intelligences.

Its primary armament is the gigantic Absolution Cannon, which fires rocket assisted shells with a plasma-based explosive core. The cannon itself fires the shell at terrifying speeds, the rockets activating roughly two seconds later. The hardened tip of the shell allows for penetration of most armours. Second stage rockets activate upon making contact with a surface for additional power and, one second after making contact, the core overheats, explodes, and is vented forwards. Originally meant to penetrate hardened bunkers and destroy enemy buildings, it makes a formidable threat to enemy armour of enemy kind. Due to the great expense of producing them, they are often deployed with a retinue of tank hunters.

Finding a picture to accurately match what you want a ship to look like is surprisingly difficult. More importantly, not all of us are good artists. I never was talented at art, and on top of that my hands shake.
