Wouldn't that be perceptible to each individual race and their own beginnings of when recorded history began? Standardizing it seems a bit intrusive in my opinion.

I've been going on a day-by-day basis, without referencing years or larger times specifically. I.e., the Arcturans talk about the Bright Ages, which is the timeframe when their star was smaller and brighter, and is analogous to Earth's Dark Ages. They don't mention "Stardate 247667.59" or "Cosmic Year 4432, month of Jol'Png, 57th day", however. They just keep track of time on a daily basis, and I narrate "X amount of minutes/hours/days/weeks/months have passed since Y point".

It's really all personal preference. I like a lot of stats, technobabble, and sciencespeak. Others like a generous amount of vagueness. There's no real rule stating that there is a certain level you must or must not use, so long as you don't go all "OLOLOLO MY GIANT DEATH LASER IS UNSTOPPABLE!!!1!1".

@Canucklad That is a lot of tanks. The logistics of your army must be amazing, as having that many parts and resources to keep all those different vehicles running is scary. Definitely some cool vehicles in there though.

Canuck, I'd advise possibly rolling a lot of the functionality into a single vehicle chassis. From there, develop different turret configurations to suit the roles of Main Battle Tank, Tank Destroyer, Mobile Artillery, etc. Also, don't forget to include a tank recovery vehicle in there somewhere as well. Vehicles get stuck quite often, tanks included.

Having a standardized chassis would streamline the logistics portion of implementation, allowing your military to keep one set of standard tracks, hubs, engines, engine components, etc. It will also streamline the training of troops to drive these vehicles, since the controls would remain the same, at least in terms of steering and such.

Also, perhaps a single main battle tank would suffice?
