We should get a new galaxy map too.

We are still going to use the old one? I think we should get a new one, and then just transfer the old information over, because I have an idea of how the map could be structured better.Caecuser wrote:

What would happen if a nation refused to obey those laws?

We have a new new map.
And if they didn't... well, then bad diplomatic stuff will happen.

The map is fine, Orson.
As for the Republic, I'd expect it has a sizeable army of its own. It is far from powerless, and could be used as a tool by member states to aid in destroying another one, or at least attacking. The Nuclear Fist wrote:And my Hunzoi auxiliaries.

Of course, in today's day and age, it has atrophied into a bunch of guys meeting to discuss things nobody really feels or cares about with little actual purpose. The last meaningful legislation would have taken place decades ago, and the department responsible for maintaining the law would bend it as far as it can go to allow the cash to flow into their private bank accounts. And then, when someone is unhappy with another nation, a few well-placed bribes and the Federation Security Council would suddenly and mysteriously have a unanimous vote for an invasion of that nation.

10 000 years and a lot of membership shuffling tends to diminish things.
Orson - I expect every single member-state to have their own army and navy and such, members are mostly autonomous.

Exactly. And, if one power bloc bribed them more frequently, the Republic could essentially become their puppet, and they could essentially requisition its fleet whenever they wanted.
And Orson: of course you can have your own military. You'd be screwed if you relied on the Republic to protect you.
