If I ever am allowed, though, I'll definitely try and bring in either the Krork nation or the dying empire, it depends on what everyone's imput is.

Have I ever mentioned how similar they are to the Transoxthraxians?

Ah. Well, yes and no. In the upper classes, a lot of pointless tradition remains, but circumstances have created situations where tradition just can't be done. The lower class effectively has no tradition, or at least can't remember them.

Most likely not, I'm extremely tired and hoped that everyone would post before I responded, but I have decided that I will advanced the plot by 12PM EST Tomorrow, simply for convenience.

In the Helasian League, however, tradition is extremely important. Helasian methods of warfare are dictated by officially sanctioned scholars, who study the ancient Helasian epic known as the Hoplite's Journey.

It's quite rare to actually get ahold of, unfortunately. The original manuscript it was written on dates back to Helasia's pre-space exploration days, and only about a handful of scholars alive today get to read it.

Neat. The Helasian religion's mythology is too expansive and varied and contradicting to really fit into a book, and is traditionally passed down through oral tales. Some of these epics and legends are written down, most aren't.

Postby The Outer Galactic Cooperative » Sat Jun 08, 2013 9:53 pm

Civilization Name: The Outer Galactic Cooperative
Civilization Age: 25 Earth years
Government type: Representative Republic
Home/Capital planet: Outreach
Government Information: A loosely organized senate comprised of twelve senators from each world, lead by a Prime Minister, who rules for life or until removed from office by a super-majority vote.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Military Doctrine: Defensive Only (we value trade and have too much trouble fighting pirates to worry about expansion)
Foreign policy: "If you're nice to use, we'll be nice to you"
Technological Age (Years beyond RL earth): Overall, we are maybe 500 years ahead of RL Earth, but some planets may not be so advanced
FTL Age (Years civilization has had FTL): Again various, but the more technological planets that joined the cooperative have had FTL for hundreds of years
Military Information: Scattered and dedicated to fighting pirates and protecting main areas of commerce.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Population: Difficult to count, though the commonly accepted number is around 30,000,000 law abiding citizens (census taking is difficult for our government given our young age as a Cooperative and varying tech levels. Also pirates are not counted in the census)
Founding Species: Various, but the three dominate ones are the Humans, the Darvinians, and the Trinits
Other Species: Various, other significants include the Drow, the Renots, the Sels, and the G'rum'darr
Sphere of Influence Size: We have 53 planets within 50 star systems under our control
Major Civilian industries/Services: varies per planet, but the common thing we all focus on is entertainment and trade
Society and Cultural information: Varies per planet, but most of us are generally accepting and cosmopolitan.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NS activity: I check at least once a day
Technological Bases: Star Wars, Mass Effect, Halo
Prior RP links: (I will instead use a paragraph or two because there a no rps on this site that I've done that are anything special):
The freighter ship cruised away from Outreach, the capital planet, towards one of the space stations. It's mission was to unload the cargo on the space station, and head back to the planet to repeat this process several times until all of the cargo it was contracted to carry was taken to the space station. It was not long, however, that the alarms blared on the ship. Pirates were incoming.
"Arn'dor, Flarda, Zak, get to the guns. We've got company," the ship's captain, Gro Drumharr said over the speakers.
"Already?" asked Zak, surprised, "they are never this close to Outreach!"
"Must be the Crimson Sky, if you ask me," replied Arn'dor.
And he was right. The Crimson Sky was the name of the pirate ship attacking. It was double the size of the freighter, and had enough firepower to cripple the smaller ship. The communicator in the cockpit lit up, and Gro knew just what it was. He turned on the communicator.
"Well, well, well, look who it is. Gro Drumharr, great military pilot turned freighter. What a pity." The pirate captain was on the screen.
"And who are you?" Gro asked, "Obviously not too smart to be attacking civilian vessels this close to Outreach. We've already got a distress signal out."
"You know who I am. Every freighter in this system has heard of me, and all the pirates- even the greater asteroid raider lords- would kill to be on my crew. I'm The Red Virus, greatest of all pirates. Tell you what, if your surrender your cargo and your ship, I'll let you join my crew. But your shipmates will have to die."
"We both know that isn't going to work out. Guys, now!" And at that command, the three gunners fired at the Crimson Sky.
Both ships we firing at each other, and the freighter even seemed to be winning, until the Crimson Sky fired an EMP shot, which crippled the smaller ship. The Crimson Sky approached, and things looked bleak until a big blast hit the side of the pirate ship. The military had arrived, and the pirates were sent into full retreat. The frieghter was safe, but The Red Virus escaped to terrorize again.

Summary of your nation (a Paragraph): A new union of planets on an outer part of the galaxy that runs a semi-democratic system. Plagued by pirates, the Cooperative has little desire for war, and would rather focus on trade. Many planets are still being discovered in our region, and it is hopeful that other planets may soon join the cooperative. Even worse than the pirates are the criminal factions that have been known to get involved in politics.
Sum up your nation and government in a few sentences: A relatively unsafe (at times) place in the galaxy that is trying to keep the peace and fight crime.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Map Claim
Desired Main Color (No guarantees): Doesn't matter. Give me something easily noticed but unlikely to be fought over
Coordinates ( X,Y. Ex: A,1): L 35 and M 35
Desired Number of Hexes: 5
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NOTE- I will do the following species information twice for my two main species (not including humanity)
Species name: Darvian
Respiratory Gas: Oxygen
Base Form: Darvi
Life span: 90 Earth years
Intelligence (scale of 1-10 10 being like forerunner and 1 being cavemen): 7
Natural defenses/abilities: Very strong and have four horns on their head.
Aggression: Moderate. They are very temperamental, but are good at self control.
Information:From the planet Darvi, a typical Darvian has blue skin, stands over seven feet tall, and has a muscular build. In their ancient times, they were a war-like race, but since they have discovered space travel they have been rather peaceful- though easily angered. Their brute strength makes them good at physical labor, as well as many police and other defense jobs.

Species name: Trinit
Respiratory Gas: Carbon Dioxide
Base Form: Trinit
Life Span: 132 Earth years
Intelligence: 6
Natural Defense/ Abilities: The Trinit is very good at sneaking because of its spider-like body structure
Aggression: Very Aggressive
Information: From the planet Trini, the Trinits are an Aracho-Humanoid race that has had a bloody past. In their days before space travel, they were constantly at war with each other. The united Trinit race only came together once they realized they could try to conquer other worlds. When the Cooperative was formed, the Trinits were incorporated into the military, trained as spies, or have found work as pirates, bounty hunters, thugs, and raiders.

They believe that the God-King is literally the reincarnation of the God they Believe in on Earth.
