EATA CLOSE IN ON FESENBUNUIL
In the aftermath of the detonation of a nuclear device within the Republic of GHawkins, the Scottopian Isles was part of the quick reaction force that was accumilated by EATA forces that are now engaged in fighting the Astyrian Liberation Army within the nation of Kamalbia that hosts the terrorist organisation. The distance between the Royal CommonWealths territory, including our sea boundries, are considerably close to the ALA's operations within Kamalbia and thus are a concern to our Kingdoms security. In such, elements of the 44th Brigade of the 25th Airborne Division were part of the advance force that was deployed to the country.
Scottopian units have now entered the city of Fesenbunuil, a major city on the Kamalbian Peninsula that hosts a highway intersection leading to the interior of the heartland. Jafalan forces have control of the southern portions of the peninsula as additional EATA units put strain upon the cities defenders. When questioned about parpicipating in another overseas conflict while the Ala Moana crisis continues, the Ministry of Defense commented "The Navy & Marines are doing the best job possible in Ala Moana, and we have full faith in their capabilities to bring order to our island neighbours. However, the world doesnt stop for our own delima's. Astyria is in peril of terrorist organisations wishing to destablise the region. Our Army & Air Force have answered the call for international assistance, and we will not stand by silently. The situation that occured in GHawkins could have happened anywhere, to any nation and it still can, at any time."
Astyria: The Scottopian Isles is considered the one of the lowest Arms Manufaturers in Astyria coming in 26th of the 27 applicable nations. Below the Royal CommonWealth was Nouvel Ecosse, with Woodstead, Aurora Confederacy & Costa de Ouro bearly placing just above our nation.
Officials with the Ministries of Commrence as well as Defense didnt bother at the results, commenting the Scottopian Military builds its units as the country needs and seldom creates units for foreign forces. The last such occasion that differed was an agreement between Nikolia, who placed 22nd, and the Scottopian Isles for the production rights of a SU-35 fighter jet that became the blueprint for the SAF-25 Typhoon in exchange for production rights for the SAF-TL6 Hoku, the Scottopian Isles Air Forces transport aircraft.
Rounding the top of the list was Jenerak, Ionicus, Symphonia, Aztec National League & Mesoland. Our ally the Blackhelm Confederacy is placed 6th. The listing does not represent military numbers, material or strength, just a production ratio.
Environment: They call it Boundry Isle, and uninhabited speck of land thats what is left of an extinct volcano that pertrudes from the sea. Hundreds of miles from the nearest land mass, its one of the most isolated spots in the Royal CommonWealth that comes with a history as deep as the ocean that surrounds it. More commonly known for its bizzare ritural between our government and that of the Blackhelm Confederacy, where forces of each others navy several times a year, land upon the island and 'capture' it from the 'enemy'. Dating to the late 1930s, the Scottopians erected a flag pole to mark our claim but later that year, an Imperial response force took down the national flag & replaced it with their own. Each time one nation took down the flag, an offering was laid at its base for the soon to be arrivals. It began with the Scottopians leaving aged whiskey, but soon our counterparts across the strait in the Exponential Empire were leaving various wines for our own men. This tradition has gone on for decades, however the stance on territorial sovrengity is still as strong as the winds and tides that harrass those who find themselfs on it.
But for its history that exceeds its strategic importance, the tiny outcrop has held onto a secret that has many scientists, professors, naturalists & citizens alike excited within the nation & aborad across Astyria. For at 225 feet above sea level, hanging on a rocky surface clings a small bush that soaks in the ocean spray in the warm tropical sun. Recently, four climbers employed by the University of San Joaquin at Santa Cruz, were working in the dark and found something so improbable they could hardly beleive themselves. "How they got there? We dont know" one was quoted as saying. Lets take a step back in time.
Upon arrival of the first Scottish settlers in the 13th century, the islands were vastly differnt. Exotic animals & plants from nothing like seen before in Europe awaited them, along with the indigeous natives who thrived upon this tropical landscape. Another species that thrived, and quiet well infact was the Scottopian Tree Lobster. A type of stick instect famous for its size, they were on average 8-10 inches with some individuals even making it to excess of 12 inches. The typical size of a European stick instect was 1-3 inches, but nowhere close to the width the Scottopian Tree Lobster had, its hard lobsterlike exoskeleton giving the creature its name. However, it came with a price as they were of a flightless varitey of the bug, losing the ability to fly unlike their eurasian counter parts. An early trick was to catch one and place it on the hook of your fishing line, using them as bait.
However, with the continued arrival of settlers from the old world, as did animals such as dogs, cats along with others. Naturally, with never coming into contact with these animals, the Scottopian Tree Lobster began to decline but was still a common sight in the interior of the island until the 1700s. Unfortunatly, a century later, only on outlaying islands such as the Inverclyde Isles, Huntington Isles & San Joaquin Isles held such populations as the Scottopian Tree Lobster could no longer be found in Scottopia. The last reported sighting came in 1918 on Santa Cruz, but by 1920 they were gone. In 1970, the Scottopian Isles government officially presumed the stick insect was extinct. But just this past week, the University of San Joaquin, Santa Cruz annouced that they have found a breeding population of the creature on Boundry Isle with some samples retreived and brought back to the mainland for observation and to begin conservation efforts.

Sport: The much awaited East Astyrian Football League's Sterling Quiach has reached its Semi-Final stage with all 4 team wishing to play at Colchester Arena in the final match. It will be a 'Tale of Two Cities' as our last remaining Scottopian Isles represnitation, Scottopia City, are to play host to Paradise City from the Blackhelm Confederacy while simutantiously Zelheina Football Club of Polarus will be playing away in the San Joaquin Valley against Cuidad de Fresno. All 4 teams have battled hard to gain their positions, but only a matter of luck determines which club gets to be the Home Team in these final games.
Taking a look at the events that got them here, Scottopia City, who are competing in the AIFA Champions League won their opening match at home against Vasterplatte Vikings 5-0, followed by 2-0 away win against Saqui Athletical. They first conceded a goal against Bangalla United but still pulled away with a 2-1 victory before defeating Port Elisabeth 3-1 in the Quarter-Finals. The Scottopians will take on Paradise City of the Blackhelm Confederacy in what is to be a powerhouse match-up that football fans across the region will be tuning into. The Confederate Club entered the tournament on shakey grounds with a slight 3-2 win over the Jafalan Jackals but had a more resonding Second Round Fixture as they beat Cathantaea Football Club 4-2. Their first home match was a true nailbiter as a 2-2 tie with FC Fresno led into overtime & penalties where the hosts prevailed 4-2 in the shootout to the releif of the fans. Finally in the Quarter-Finals, they travelled to compete versus Deportivo Stockton where they scraped by again with a 3-2 win. Only 1 of these sides will make it to the finals.
Cuidad de Fresno started the tournament off with a 3-2 away win versus Saints of Divinity before taking down the Blackhelm Dragons 1-0, followed by a 3-1 home win against MacKenzie City. They wernt expected to pass the likes of recent Scottopian Isles Champions New Greenock United, but they did pull it off to win another 3-1 victory by the San Joaquin side. They will take on Zelheina Football Club, who are the underdogs of the game, but they have pulled off miralces so far. The team from Polarus squeeked through to the second round with a 2-2 tie with the Scottopian Capitols that led to a 4-3 shootout for ZFC, where they went on to eliminate the bookies favorite, Selecao Azurio 2-1. Another dazzling matchup against Campo Bakersfield led to another draw with the teams level at 2, but it seems Zelheina have grown used to firing from the penalty spot as they converted all shots for a 5-3 win. With all odds stacked against them, they were thrown a bone when drawn with the tournaments Cindarealla Story, Colchester Landing Football Club. Nobody expected CLFC to make it to the Quarter-Finals, and most presume a the Final being hosted by their Home Stadium was drive to parpicapate, but the Polarus Champions dominated in possesion for a 2-0 win to make it to the Semis.
Tune in for tonights matches to see what teams make it to the 1st Sterling Quaich Final in Colchester Landing, brought to you by the East Astyrian Football League.
