You had me at zombie apocalypse but my interest tanked at the mention of stats. Like... I'd rather roll with a more freeform RP style over strict dicerolls resulting in absolute bullshit scenarios.

Would anyone be interested in a witch trial from a fantasy perspective? The most known witch trials were largely based on the idea that witches got their power from a deal with the devil. Now a days the consensus is that witches aren't real. However, what would a witch trial look like in a setting where magic is real? Basically, someone from another land would be accused of witchcraft and put on trial. It would then become an international controversy, regarding not only the idea of the person being guilty, but also if it should be a crime.

And the whole world went to war so NATO vs the Warsaw pact and the us won Vietnam and Korean War in this but… it is still a nuclear war

So, I'm curious as if anyone is up for a good civil war/political conspiracy RP?

The premise is this:

Welskerland is, for the most party, your standard first world Western democracy. The only morally despicable thing the modern government does is the way it treats a specific minority in the country. Grezians are the native people of Grez, a desert country that was conquered by Welskerland decades ago, and is now treated as a part of Welskerland. Despite a long history of fighting for their independence, the Grezians still remain under the rule of Welskerland, though they did manage to at least secure some rights such as going from an annexed core of Welskerland to an autonomous region that for the most part runs itself apart from the Welskerland's central government.

Tensions have re-escalated lately over politics and religion. Grezians despise the Welskian monarchy, but are split as to whether they should be a republic or have their own native monarchy. Also, Welskerland is officially a Christian nation that allows tolerance for all faiths, but most Grezians hold to their traditional indigenous beliefs and see the encroachment of Christianity as threatening their way of life.

This all ends up culminating in a situation where Grezians separatists plot to assassinate the Welskian royal family and maybe also several members of the national government, if they can pull it off. Once the Welskian people learn of this plot, it plunges the entire country into another civil war.

Is anyone up for this?

Well, I have been wondering about getting back into RPing on these forums again, it's only been nearly 5 years so I'm almost due for changing up the status-quo again just for personal entertainment.

So, how about we make a deal? You can hire some Hurties to protect some folks in whatever manner they see fit, and everything spirals into chaos from there.
-That or someone hires Hurties en-masse as a war-winning easy-button, the price to pay afterwards be damned.

Not pictured: The author of this is sporting quite the impressive cheshire-grin. I'm sure some of the older powerbrokers in II would've wished that I stayed gone.

Ah. Welskerland straddles the line between MT and PMT. It's closer to the former, but I am generally okay with some limited PMT stuff as long as it doesn't get unbalanced.

I don't know about any rules of limits beyond the basic site-wide stuff, but I am open to pretty much any outcome in the RP except for the annexation of Welskerland. I am open to suggestions, though.

Ah. Welskerland straddles the line between MT and PMT. It's closer to the former, but I am generally okay with some limited PMT stuff as long as it doesn't get unbalanced.

I don't know about any rules of limits beyond the basic site-wide stuff, but I am open to pretty much any outcome in the RP except for the annexation of Welskerland. I am open to suggestions, though.

That's roughly where mainline-II rps tended to sit, aside from a few demonic outlyers and the occasional visit from extra-terrestrials. Hurties are generally regarded as "backwaters PMT" so the advanced tech exists but isn't in widespread use by commoners/mercs.
-And 1950s tech is pretty much entirely unregulated.

I'm thinking of starting a character based; casual RP set in a military academy where players enrolled as army Officer Cadets, learn a thing or two , the basics, then take turns in leading troops in simulated wargaming scenarios against one another. First learn how to lead a platoon, then go through field tests where they have to resent their platoon operations plans, before learning how to organize companies, battalion level concepts. It will be mostly realistic, tactical level, but generally casual RP.

Think anyone would be interested?

Before there was a realism consultation thread, this stuff was discussed ICly in a classroom setting by rather... eccentric faculty.

Packard froze mid-motion, his artistic interpretation of an Endorsian Banded Trout half finished on the blackboard. "Ah, but a name so named names the named namer in name only, correct? Then the naming of the namer's name must in name name incorrectly to obfuscate the name of the named namer!" He whirled and gestured with a flourish, beaming with victory.

Also, it goes to show how paranoid/emotionally damaged Hurti NCOs get by the time they attend OCS that they think a lack of MILES gear means they'll conduct two-way live-fire training that day. Issuing MILES gear just means they're trying to lul them into thinking the other team is using blanks.

Ahh, that actually almost exactly what I had in mind, but only for now I plan making one for smaller scale training focusing on infantry, platoon - battalion level tactics.

Because of the annoyance of hard realism being 1:1 with real life, denying escapism through fantasy while also rapidly increasing the skill floor disproportionately against a possible audiemce that has rapidly lost interest due to the lack of escapism present.

If anything it would sound more like attempting to LARP being recruited, but on an online forum. Which, to many players, is no different from actually getting recruited save for some very minor details.

I have an idea. An artefact is stolen and the police are after it and the thief. The twist is the artefact and thief are from a magical otherworld. A magical detective has to go undercover as a mundane detective to catch the thief. Wait! There is more. Another thief wants to steal the artefact from the first thief, but to avoid being noticed by the mundane police or the magic detective, the second thief needs to work through a teenager from the mundane world.

I know, it isn't realistic.

Sounds like ultra-realism. Which no one on NS would be able to execute.

I was more thinking somewhere along something far more basic, decent google maps; so everyone knows where the actions are; and none of those 'teleporty' behaviour where everything instantly appears magically on the front line.
