Today the three factions that form the empire. The ruling faction is the Northern Cytils
The other two are the Illums and the Serriles. A major person from each group has been killed and both factions blame eachother for the killings. The second great war has started.

OOC: Well what ever lets roll with it.

IC: Today the Cytils have a 75% control of the country due to they have the largest military and the most support at the moment. The others hold 15%(Illums) and 10%(Serriles) of the country. As of right now the Emperor has ordered that troops be posted at the borders between the two factions. Also new intelligence has brought up a disturbing theory. That the assassinations might have been made from a different country. But so far no evidence has been found to support that and it will likely be trashed later on in the war. So far no attacks or threats have been made to either faction right now its at a stand still and factions are trying to hold their land.

Commander Revi walked out of his tent. MGs and defensive points had been set up the night before and they were now occupied. So far no bullets were shot. People were reluctant to kill any soldier on any side due to they don't want another great war. But this might be over sooner than the one that lasted over a thousand years.

Captain Lyra Heartstrings swaggered through the forest, Wasnt this were those bloody Serriles were supposed to meet me? She had been sneaked into the country and was to act as a Fantrum lesaion to the faction. She checked her map again and flashed her light three times, nowhere in particular. Then she crouched down near a large tree to wait.

little did this unsuspecting person now the Serriles saw it. But a patrol of Cytil forces also saw it. As soon as she sat down the Serriles squad of seven men stood up. 'Ah, you must be the lesaion for our faction. Welcome to-." Said the squad leader as a bullet went through his head. A 20 man Cytil patrol had charged to where the light flashed. As the woods was the border between the two faction. The war had no officially begun. The leaders of the Cytil party said, "Stand down now!"

"Sir, reports of fighting in The Norse Empire have arrived."
"And?" Asked William Wallace, leader of the Republic
"It might turn into a full blown war"
"Send in an agent to investigate further, I don't want to do anything rash."

Lyra stood to greet the man when his brain was rudely escorted from his head. Rolling into cover and pulling her 45. ACP service pistol she yelled at the six men who were more or less firing wildly into the dark, "Fall back!" Even though she didnt know where back was, she hoped they would have reinforcements nearby. She leveled her pistol and put three rounds into the man who had killed the squad lead, then fired two shots into the man next to him. Lyra turned to run, and felt a bullet impact on the back of her protective ACU vest, which sent her flat on her face. Though the bullet didnt penetrate, it knocked her breathless. She got to her feet after a split second pause and ducked under a tree root, the sounds of battle told her the drastically outnumbered Serriles were rapidly losing.

Since her coronation, Queen Jennifer had made efforts to ensure that the new absolute monarchy in Cascavia which had been created by the Solidification Act of 2013 would not be disrupted by opposing factions such as the Republican Movement. This was not, however, the overall goal which she hoped to achieve during her reign. The sixteen year old monarch wished to restore Cascavia to its position as a global power, the position which the communists had robbed from the people of Cascavia in 1921 with their corrupt takeover. To this end she had been developing friendships between Cascavia and other nations, redeveloping the Royal Cascavian Armed Forces, and providing military assistance to protect foreign nations from internal rebellions. Unfortunately Queen Jennifer believed that the greatness of a nation did not rest on its ability to help others. Instead she believed that it rested on its strong leadership and, more importantly, its ability to demonstrate overwhelming military power. The situation in the Norse Empire provided her with the perfect opportunity, the nation was falling apart and its government was weak.

Less than an hour ago naval force that had been forming off the coast of Cascavia since the news of a civil war breaking out in the Norse Empire began its journey towards the divided nation. This force was composed of two carrier battle groups and three amphibious battle groups. In terms of ships this force was composed of one Enterprise class aircraft carrier, one Admiral Kuznetsov class aircraft carrier, six William Riley class amphibious assault ships, twenty three Espora class corvettes, eighteen Arhentyna class corvettes, fourteen Rjativnyk class destroyers, and ten Avenger class minesweepers. These ships, specifically the William Riley class vessels, transported an amphibious force of 3600 troops. The objective of this amphibious force was to establish a beach head and an airfield which could be used to fly in more troops. They would not be alone in this endeavour, the thousand man strong 55th Airborne Regiment would be dropped twenty kilometres inland and work their way to meet up with the amphibious forces. The regiment would be dropped from Ilyushin Il-76 transports escorted by a force of 100 Su-30MKC Flanker fighters and twenty AMF-61A Eagle stealth fighters.

Despite her wish to demonstrate the military capabilities of Cascavia, Queen Jennifer did not want to completely destroy the Norse Empire. She wanted to turn one half of the Norse Empire into a colony and allow the other half to remain an independent country. She also believed that demonstrating the ability to wield overwhelming military power required the ability to control it. The invasion force’s target was in the territory controlled by Serriles, if the invasion was successful their forces would be weakened substantially it could potentially end the conflict which threatened to collapse the Norse Empire.

Captain Revi had just heard the news. the Cytils and Illums were now united and have rejoined the empire and they pledged their allegiance to the emperor. Now their forces could focus on the Serilles and this news of a in pending invasion of the homeland. 6 thousand troops had been sent to the beach head the hostiles were landing on. The nation of Cascavia had a young and inexperienced monarch that would be their down fall. the bad thing for their invasion was that it was on the strongest factions land and the defense forces were digging in. the Cytil land and now the Norse empire was almost completely restored. But it would probably be years. With news of the first fire fight major assaults have begun on Cytil forces on the border. But they were holding the forces back.

The Cytil squad leader took cover as one of his men was hit three times in the chest and dropped to the ground. While the other one was dropped to get into cover. "Fire, keep that girl alive. She isn't one of us, we need to find out who she is!" Yelled the squad leader as they started to fire at the now pinned Serriles. A few rounds hit the tree that he was using as cover and one round cut straight through the tree's edge. It shocked him that they had a weapon that could do that. He was wondering where the rest of the patrol was. Then his question was answered at the entire patrol that wasn't fighting encircled the Serriles squad and the unknown foreign operative.

"Serriles command we need-" Then a bullet went into his head and he dropped.

"So anyone else want to make a call." Said the squad leader that came out of cover. "Keep several guys on this operative, I don't want her to escape until we get information out of her. So, who sent you and you have caused a lot of trouble."

The forces on the beach had to reopen bunkers that hadn't been used since the first great war. They were still in good shape, but they were old and not meant to handle new weapons. Mgs had been set up in the bunkers that were over looking the beach head. Mortars, tanks and mines have been deployed. The tanks were set up in the trees waiting for the hostiles. Mines had been set up along the head of the beach and towards in land with a few trenches. The mortars had been set up behind the bunkers.

Agent Connery, now positioned in the Norse Empire had straight away seen that the place was in a lot of trouble. He had managed to commandeer a small yacht from a couple, but gave them money for it, and sailed across the narrow sea to the empire. He was dressed as a journalist, but was armed with a M9 tucked into a pocket in his jacket.
He manged to dock on the beach and walk to the nearest town where already there was debris. Mostly it was calm, but with truck loads of armed men driving around and shouting.
These guys were definitely from a professional army, so they must have been the rebels. Connery would have to find somewhere to report to HQ. He found a small ruined building two blocks down. "Base, this is 101, reporting." "We hear you." "Seems to me like any other rebellion, nothing special, although they do seem to have numbers and I've only been to one town." " Try and head to the capital to find out as much as you can." "You're not actually gonna send a brigade here are you? This has nothing to do with us." "Do as you're ordered, agent." "Understood" Connery sighed. He was about to leave the building when all of the sudden BAM! He was hit on the head hard, but not so hard that he was knocked out. He heard two voices talking in Norse accents. "Call over more men, Josef." "Yes, sir" Connery opened his eyes slightly and he saw two men with a rifle each and casual clothing. Definitely rebels. The two men weren't paying much attention to him, so he slowly reached for his gun in his jacket. Got it. He span around on his back and BANG! BANG! he shot both both in the neck and head.
A day later he was already on a truck that was taking evacuees to a camp, where he would take a vehicle to the capital.

Lyra caught her breath as she took in the scene. Surrounded, Well f*uck, she thought Aint no way Im dien' here. She slid a fresh clip home and pulled a grenade off her belt, Not much time, this has got to work. With the gunfire becoming more isolated, Lyra waited until she knew generally where four or five guys were in the undergrowth, which wasnt hard, seeing as they weren't trying to hide. She counted to three, yanked the pin from the grenade and sent it soaring into the middle of three or so men. Then she popped from cover and fired four rounds at two men on either side of the other three. The grenade explodes and Lyra makes a bee-line through the hole made by her suppression and the explosion. She could feel bullets impacting on her vest but was too pumped up with adrenalin to experience the pain, so she ran, taking wild shots behind her to further suppress the gunmen. She spoke quickly into her satilite transmitter, "Command! Code Partypooper, I repeat, code Partypooper!"

The Emir listened to the reports of the fighting in the Norse Empire. He sat quietly pondering. There is some outside influence in this. Some scheming meddler is up to something. I will stop them, unite these factions and strengthen the Empire. Surely, I will be opposed by some shadowy puppetmaster, whose identity I know not, but that is exactly why I am doing it. Yes. this will be good. "Secretary, send my agents into the Norse Empire. Tell them to end this feud" the Emir commanded.

"For what side?"

"Whichever serves my interests."

The team of agents was quickly deployed to the Empire.

“Ice pick, ice pick, ice pick. Operation Northern Storm is a go. I repeat, Operation Northern Storm is a go.” Commander Samantha Hoult announced over the radio on all Cascavia frequencies signalling the initiation of Operation Northern Storm, the Cascavian invasion of the Norse Empire. As the invasion forced passed into the territorial waters of the Norse Empire a group of ten F-35B Lightning II and ten Yak-41CN Freestyle multirole fighters took off from the Kuznetsov class aircraft carrier to form a combat air patrol over the two carrier battle group. Each Lightning II was equipped with four AIM-120C AMRAAM beyond visual range air to air missiles and each Freestyle was equipped with three R-77 beyond visual range air to air missiles and two R-73 short range air to air missiles. At the same time a force of twenty F-14CN Tomcat interceptors took off from the Enterprise class aircraft carrier to form a combat air patrol over the amphibious battle groups. Each of these interceptors was equipped with six AIM-120C AMRAAM missiles and two AIM-9M Sidewinder short range air to air missiles. The task of both combat air patrols was to protect the fleet from an aerial attack, and they would be assisted in this task by four Sea King ASaC7 airborne early warning helicopters which took off from both carriers. These helicopters, as their role suggested, was to extend the range of the fleet’s detection capability with their own radars giving friendly aircraft more time to respond.

Meanwhile another formation of aircraft took off from the Enterprise class aircraft carrier, twenty A-6CN Intruder attack aircraft. Their mission was radically different from that of the aircraft assigned to the combat air patrols and each Intruder was equipped with two AIM-9M Sidewinder missiles and three AGM-88 HARM anti-radiation missiles. The airborne force was quickly approaching from behind the invasion fleet and the Il-76 Candid transport planes would be vulnerable to Norse air defences, even with escorting fighters. The Intruders flew towards the coast at low altitude, following a nap-of-earth approach, to avoid being detected by radar or shot down. Their targets were enemy radar arrays that would be directing anti-aircraft weaponry when the transports arrived, each AGM-88 HARM missile would lock on to the radiation emitted by the radars and then home in on this. The Cascavian commanders hoped that neutralising the radars would leave surface to air missiles larger than those used by MANPADS useless and force anti-aircraft gun teams to manually track their targets severely reducing accuracy.

As all these aircraft took off the William Riley class amphibious assault ships and the Rjativnyk class destroyers began bombarding the landing zone with naval gunfire to weaken any forces which the Norse Empire, or its factions, had stationed there in an attempt to halt the Cascavian invasion. The smaller automatic five inch guns on board the Rjativnyk class destroyers were used to saturate the area with standard high explosive ammunition even distributed across the landing zone. The more powerful twelve inch guns, three of which were mounted on each William Riley class vessel, bombarded important targets which had been located through satellite reconnaissance such as likely command and ammunition facilities with GPS guided ammunition. Each twelve inch shell weighed roughly half a tonne and would be able to devastate their targets. Once all known targets had been engaged, the gun crews would switch to unguided twelve inch rounds and begin saturating the area in a similar manner as the Rjativnyk class gun crews. To ensure that ammunition depleted in this bombardment and following operations was replaced the commander of the Cascavia invasion force, Admiral Tetyana Yermilov, called for a logistical supply group from Cascavia. When this group of supply ships and escorts arrived in theatre, they would wait at the edge of the Norse Empire exclusive economic zone until they were needed.

All the way back in Cascavia the men and women at the headquarters of Cyber Warfare Command located deep within the Insuhyrc Mountains launched their own campaign against the Norse Empire. A complex program developed from the one which had been used against the Leptonsi military during Cascavia’s short participation in the Grand War was activated. This initiated a cyber-attack which was targeted at the infrastructure which made normal life in the Norse Empire a possibility such as power plants and water networks, specifically any networked automated system that operated them. Each target was attacked with two ‘weapons packages’. The first was solely intended to bring down whatever cyber defences that the Norse Empire may have protected its automated infrastructure with. The second would actually cause the damage by attempting to overload the systems of the automated infrastructure. It was hoped that a successful attack would lower the morale of the Norse people and disrupt communications. Once this was achieved the personnel at Cyber Warfare Command would attempt to prevent any retaliatory cyber-attack, fortunately their operational experience would make a successful enemy attack difficult.

Government of the Norse Empire,

It has come to the attention of Queen Jennifer and the Council of Lords that the decision to initiate hostilities between our two states was a poor one that, if continued, will result in thousands of military and civilian casualties. Because of this the Royal Cascavian Armed Forces have been given orders to cease any and all combat operations against your nation at once. Furthermore, these units have also been given orders to withdraw back to Cascavia at once and will do so peacefully unless they are forced to defend themselves. Finally, as compensation for our actions, the Enterprise class aircraft carrier which was the flagship of our fleet will be left in your waters for your naval forces to claim for themselves.
