We thank your for your comment, however our government considers a space elevator a wonderful and useful achievement. It will enable us to construct a space station much easier and much cheaper, as well as providing an easy and cheap way to get people and cargo into space. As for paying for it, our economy is more than sufficient to spend 400 billion. Plus, it is more than likely that not all of that will even be spent, so the remaining money will go back into the economy.

OOC: Fortunately, the RL economy has no effect on NS economy, so it doesn't matter. The RL economy could have hit a depression, but the NS economy can still be going strong.

Allan, slightly captivated by the stare like prey stared down by predator, shook it off and asked the next question. "I've noticed you're eyes are yellow, something that's fairly uncommon. I also have other evidence to support that you aren't anything short of a genetically modified human. Care to elaborate, Commander Dobraski?" Allan said in the most professional voice he could muster at the moment. (Not very professional, but he was at least making an effort.)

I had them installed myself." She whipped her hair around, then let it settle. She leaned back against the wall and continued to stare at him, seemingly unblinking.

Allan, pulling a facepalm, wondered how he didn't think of cameras under the pillow or cameras in other covert locations. "Alright, fine. I'll admit it, it's pretty stupid to think I could keep that bit of evidence from any government when they have me under surveillance. I never got any help, never had a government to back me up. But just one thing that keeps bugging me: what do you look like under the suit? And why'd they pick you as Commander? What gave you that position?"

"What do you mean? Can you explain? And do they have any choice in the matter?"

"A man's genetic code is normally more robust and easier to manipulate than a females. However, I was an exception to the rule. When they spliced me, I was found to be extremely robust. My genes were unique, I guess you could say. Two answer the second part, there are very, very few people who would willingly undergo the gene splicing. It is very painful and not pleasant at all."
