Canon drones do have disruptors; it's just they never seem to use them even when it would be advantageous to do so. But they use them when disconnected from the hive mind in episodes of both TNG and VOY. </nerd>

I assume the canon collective's drones don't use them much because the first few hundred branches of the priority tree all say "ASSIMILATE", and you get almost all the way down to ground level before you find one saying, "Okay, now you can blow them up."

Naturally, once severed, a drone no longer labors under these restrictions and again returns to humanoid instinct to pump firepower into the enemy until it stops moving.

To be fair, the Borg are apparently capable of reviving someone after they've been dead for over 72 hours, so assimilating a corpse and then reviving it shouldn't be an issue... I call plot convenience!
