"Well, do you think the Bresteshire Plan would still succeed, based on Marina's answer, Maximus?" The Crown Prince asked his younger sibling. The airman was thinking over the same matter, as he quickly responded.
"It should work. The Desert Elves don't sound like they have much of an organized military, or at least one in condition to fight against the large armadas we'd be using in that scenario. Would we be transporting all our forces by air, or would there be a land-based group as well?" Said Prince Maximus.
"Transporting all the soldiers we'd be using on that front by airship would be too long and costly. No, we'll have some of our troops move through the desert by land. We should be able to blitz through it swiftly enough with the Scionis-type mechas, and we'll be in the relative safety of the Drow Kingdom," Crown Prince Edward responded to Maximus, before turning his attention back to Marina and Tiberius.
"Since you probably don't know what Maximus and I have been planning, the Grand Holy Empire has decided to use a strategy we've been planning for an event like this for the past few years, known as the Bresteshire Plan. It's actually more reliant on air power than infantry, since we assumed we would be relying on our allies to provide the raw numbers of foot soldiers. We'd land in the northwest of the Imperium, storm our way until we get to friendly territory, and relentlessly press on until we near the capital, by which point the Imperial government is getting rightfully fearful of the oncoming Constannian army. A bit over-optimistic perhaps, but its initial phase and troop amounts are logical. We figured the Snow Elf kingdom was too cold to safely fly lots of airships for a long period of time, and we're certainly not getting near the degenerate demon kingdom, the land of the Desert Elves seemed the best option," Edward explained, awaiting Queen Marina's response.
"Well establishing a base there would be a good idea Edward. The only problems I see is the lack of water and the possibility for an insurgency. The Desert Elves are excellent raiders. I recommend we try to win them over if we can." She responded.
The Crown Prince wasn't too surprised by his sister-in-law's response. He was aware of the potential of insurgencies against the Constannian forces, but if the plan went as it should the Desert Elves would hardly be aware of what was going on until it was already over.
"I suppose diplomacy would be a viable option, but what happens if they refuse our offer of alliance? I'm sure at least one of their government officials would realize the shortest possible route between the Holy Fatherland and the Imperial District," the tall warrior pointed out. "They'll be well aware of their upper hand if we try convincing them to join the uprising. From your description of them, they don't sound like they'd be interested in preserving human-elf relations for any altruistic reason whatsoever, and even if they did pledge their allegiance to our cause we have no guarantee that they'd simply stab us in the back the moment the best opportunity presented itself. And the plan didn't exactly call for bases being constructed in their kingdom so much as cutting straight through it, preferably avoiding any detection and subsequent conflict with the Desert Elf military...they do have at least some semblance of an organized military, don't they?" Edward asked, unsure of how organized Desert Elf society was. The Crown Prince stood thinking for a few moments, massaging his temples with a black gloved hand as his cape fluttered a little in the breeze.
"Of course, diplomacy could help distract them," Prince Maximus pointed out, folding his arms over his chest. "While we're formally negotiating a treaty with them, the high-altitude airships slip over their airspace without them ever noticing. The Landforce could catch up soon enough, especially since they wouldn't have to worry about possibly getting attacked by bloody bandits. Of course, if they somehow managed to discover the presence of our airships passing overhead, then we'd be in trouble..."
"Of course, it could be argued our airships weren't violating their sovereignty, as they were high up enough to be nearing orbit, and I doubt they'll have the audacity to lay claim to space itself. And if they object to our claim that our airships can go that far up, how could they prove it? They can certainly reach far greater heights than anything they're capable of making," Edward replied calmly, smirking ever so slightly, to the point that you could almost barely detect it.
