• Revising our history to get rid of the BS none of us want and which makes no sense

So #1 is fully underway
Let's talk about #2 shall we?

This will be a rare chance at democracy among the members of Earth II being that you will all be able to weigh in on this one.

So here is the scenario:

Rather than revise the history of Earth II, which is a daunting task, what do you say we do a total reboot? Now before you get too giddy, there are some stipulations.

• Current active / pending members with established history cannot have their history removed.
• Recently departed members (i.e. Amigard, Olmeria, Edvardus) cannot have their history removed.
• Influential members of the past (i.e. Bavin) cannot have their history removed.
• As was originally done in the first go at history, RomeW's history will serve as the focal point.

So what this means is that I would first wipe the history completely. Then I will add in the history of members fitting these categories. Then we will have a clean history. BEFORE THAT HAPPENS THOUGH there are some conditions.

• To have your history readded, it must be current (i.e. at least through the 2012 calendar year - you do not need to have 2013 completely done). [NO ACTION REQUIRED ON THIS YET]
• Look back into the history of YOUR nation and when you post your opinion, give me a brief (nothing special) idea what history conflicts with your own and give me a brief explanation why (again nothing special but make me think you looked).

Okay? So go ahead and let's get the opinions out there.

The only thing that I see that conflicts with my history is that myself and a nation called "Greater Britannia" claimed Australia for the better part of the 18th century- everything else looks okay.

I'm also not sure what I can add for 2012...all I have is one thread that got aborted. I suppose I can just take the thread from 2011 and claim that was finished in 2012 (as it would be). The war in Egypt and Sudan is the first real addition to my history.

I do have one suggestion, to make the history easier- divide it by continent (or at least provide that option). It would be easier to spot conflicts that way, and people can zero in quicker on the histories that make the most sense to them. Right now, if I want to know everything that happened in Africa from 1509 to 1781, I'd have to sift through several pointless lines to get to what I need to know and that's needlessly time consuming.

Well the good thing is with the back history you can always add stuff in - it doesn't explicitly require you to RP things - so long as they jive. If you're saying you claimed a nation in your history though and you never RP'd it well that's a situation but it has never arisen so.

As for the separations - there is one issue there. Lots of people do things on many continents around the same time so it would become pretty unwieldy. The best way is for people to explicitly state in their history segments what the locality is. Then a CRTL+F by locality can find something.

I had been involved with the same group of people for a few years, on and off, but our numbers have dwindled and I think we have proven a group of five people cannot sustain an RP for long. Hello folks. The above post is my approved claim from... a long as time ago I guess, pulled from the archive thread. I left due to a military mobilization to sunny and beautiful Afghanistan. I am wondering if I can get my claim back? I see that all my claimed lands are still available, and I can resume my intro thread. Of course, given that I made it about 1/10th of one percent of a baby step towards actually doing an true intro thread, I can understand if the members would prefer I start over, and quite frankly I would have no problem with that.

Here's sort of a timeline of what we'll do [not set in stone yet]:

• June 13 - June 17: Commence reconstruction of Earth II History v,2
• June 18: Present foundation of Earth II History v.2
• June 19 - June 20: Member review
• June 21 - July 22: Open submission of new hsitory, history revisions, edits, member review
• July 23 - July 30: Integrate new history, review removed history from v.1 that could fit into v.2
• July 31 - August 6: Member review
• August 7 - August 10: Final review
• August 11: Earth II History v.2 posted

If you do not have your history up-to-date to January 1, 2013 at the minimum by August 6 it won't be added until it is. Because of the scope of the project there will be no leniency with deadlines. If you cannot meet the deadline you will forfeit inclusion until after the fact, meaning that your history is subject to scrutiny to comply with standards and what not (i.e. if there's a conflict between you and someone else who is in there already; you lose).

When the time comes I am going to make a new thread for all of the history posts & stuff to keep the clutter out of here & when it is posted I will have a v.2 history thread so that v.1 isn't lost [I'll have the mods lock v.1].

The revision is underway. I have posted the basic history, which is RomeW. Since he is technically the oldest member of Earth II (yes he's been here longer than I have) and his history is so stretching that it forms the basis. However, RomeW you are at liberty to modify it and I would love if you could put more specific dates in there (at least for the modern era [i.e. 1700 - Present] instead of just year generalities).
