^ if anyone wants to take a peak I am working out the intricacies of my history for an IIWiki article and fact book. A lot has been changed pre-1750 though going forward from 1750 little will be changing except for some events in the 1800s and then perhaps in the future Conquests to deal with Tnemrot.

I'm looking at developing a thread that provides more detail about Amigard history. The problem is, there is a lot of information to sort through in the Consolidated History thread and I don't want to step on any toes or give conflicting information. When I originally designed the history for Amigard it was under the assumption that the crusades had happened and that the nation was originally a barony under a European power established in 1101 A.D.

I see that Rome had a crusade around that time and that Syria was mentioned as a protectorate of Rome. First I'm trying to determine what region of Europe the original Amigard settlers came from (originally I had assumed the British Isles but I'm uncertain as to who was actually in control of the British Isles at the time and whether they would have reasonably had such a migration). Second I hoped to include some form of large migration of Europeans to the Mid-East region in order to explain my nations large European population and cultural influences.

I'm going to be spending some time sorting through the Consolidated History thread, but any information that anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.

I've opted to simply update my fact book with the history that I am developing rather than attempting to make a new thread for it. I have made some additions already found here: http://iiwiki.com/wiki/Amigard#History

From 2003 on it should be fairly easy to work out a more detailed history. The problem is trying to work in the history from around 1101 AD until 2003 because the borders of Amigard expanded and contracted for a while before eventually being reduced to the walls of the Cathedral of Saint Michael, but I may work into history a period where Amigard expanded again for a time; however, I will need to know if there were any players who's history would include control of areas in the Middle East during that time frame so I don't announce that Amigard controlled a certain area that was already claimed.

So far I've only found limited references to the region in the history thread (but that is just a cursory review at this point); if I don't find anything I will eventually have to assume that Middle East history is basically open to revision unless told otherwise by the powers that be.

I have begun working on my history, I am starting way back in the Bronze Age. Do take extreme note that this means one very blatant thing: No, Rome is not 'All' anymore.

By all means go back as far as you can and a note for all. When dealing with dates pre-Renaissance, citing the year (e.g. 700 BC) or a range (e.g. 700 - 600 BC) is fine. In the Renaissance it's good to get some more accuracy to the dates, even if it's just the season or the month. Post-Industrial Revolution (say 1700s onward) it's ideal to have accurate dates.

If people have issues with formatting you can upload your entries to Pastebin (1 entry per line) and I can implement them into a text file. It's important that they be in text format if not on Pastebin. This allows for simple copy & paste with no other formatting hindrances. Note that for single entries (e.g. [Layarteb]) this is simple. When you get into multiple entries (e.g. [Layarteb, Nation 2]) then you have to separate it into a different section. I'd advise a whole block of just your stuff, a few carriage returns, and then in blocks stuff for whatever nations. However, please do try to use the formatting provided as this can get clunky.

After much thought and consideration- as well as the realization that, 11 years after I began (yes, it really *has* been 11 years for me), my life is profoundly differently than it once was on Earth II, I have decided to leave E2 and NationStates for good.

It wasn't easy, but I felt that it was the right thing to do. When I started, I was in University and thus had quite a bit of time on my hands, plus NS represented an opportunity for me to get started within the world of writing that I have now gone full swing into.

Now, with bills, and rent and "real life" my new reality- as well as other writing projects that I have wound up developing over the years- I just can't devote the time needed to devote to NS. There was a time and a place where it served a function, but, sadly, that time has passed. However, knowing how long I spent here, all the friends I've made and all the energies I have put into this community, I felt that you all deserved at least one last word from me.

I'll let you guys determine what you want to do with my territories, but my preference would be that we get two NPC's out of it- one being Canada and the other being the "Roman Commonwealth", the collection of states that represented my lands east of the Atlantic. That's how I've divided them in my final post, since the Commonwealth lands are joining Virtue while Canada is not, wishing to align itself with the other North American powers (should you choose to align yourselves with Canada).

This is my last post on E2, and while I never say never, it'll likely be my last for a long while. If anyone wishes to keep in touch, TG me, and I'll spill my contact info- I'll be checking in with my nation for the next week. I won't be checking in on the boards, and after next week, I'm letting my nation slip into oblivion.

Thanks for all the memories, the fun and definitely (to quote one of my favourite stories) thanks for all the fish.

This is the current limitation on land claims. As you can see there is a maximum ceiling and it is a hard limit that you reach with 8 billion people. Now NS populations notwithstanding what is the interest level to increasing the overall limit. Show of hands (I'll leave voting open through the end of July unless we get everyone's vote) in a simple majority. Who wants to see the ceiling increased (see bottom of post for what new levels would be)?



Decree 5, Provision 2: The maximum ceiling for claims is 6,500,000 mi² (16,834,922 km²). If Give/Take Allowed is "Yes" then this indicates that there is an overrun buffer of 50,000 mi² (129,499 km²).

8 billion people = 6,500,000 mi² (16,834,922 km²) WITH buffer
10 billion people = 6,750,000 mi² (17,482,419 km²) WITH buffer
20 billion people = 7,000,000 mi² (18,129,916 km²) WITHOUT buffer (new hard ceiling)
