As a side note: if all goes to plan and Austronia and GUR finish their intros that will free up two NPC slots (Kingdom of Libya takes one). A "secret" new player comes in and takes Brazil (I hope) and we free up another NPC slot. Marimia finishes his thread and the NPC that is the RSA shifts to Mato Grosso (savages). So map changes notwithstanding there would be two open NPC slots. I don't want to rush to fill these but if there is something worthwhile we want to add - and I mean worthwhile - let me know. If there isn't an RP associated with it I'll find it hard to take it as "worthwhile" unless there are things planned.

I have an enduring love affair with the structure of the community and the tempo of it's role plays, but have been unable recently to maintain any kind of presence online. I am a University Student (studying History and European Studies [integration]) and during the summer will be working but not taking classes (as opposed to last time I tried to rejoin). The Supreme Council had since the coup in 1849 been ruling collectively and was largely comprised of former followers of Simón Bolívar. The Council agrees almost immediatley and Generalissimo Antonio Achile di Minas Gerais is named supreme leader of la Repubblica Sociale Brasiliano (however the Supreme Council remains the true authority in the country).

La Repubblica Sociale is transformed into the Imperio di Brasil. Antonio Achile di Minas Gerais is named il Primo Imperatore after undergoing a twenty hour session of prayer supervised and directed by the Patriarch himself. Antonio Achile takes the name Imperatore Sebastino in honor of the patron saint of the Empire.

Looking to limit the selfish tendencies within Capitalism and the Atheistic tendencies within Socialism, this ideal expands among the fiercely devout Brasilianos.
  • December 25, 1899: [Ursh] Despite the Corporationist Ecnomic Structure that had to date ensured that class conflict was at a minimum within il Imperio, the Partito Socialista Brasiliana is formed. While it is almost instantly surpressed by the Imperial Guard, an armed wing known as La Spada del Pueblo escapes the Organs of State Security and vows revenge.
  • January 1, 1901: [Ursh] La Spada del Pueblo after two years of careful planning decides to strike against il Imperio e la famiglia Imperiale. The New Years' Mass at the Cathedral di Santo Sebastiano is targeted due to the presence of both Imperial Consuls, the young Imperatore, and the various Ministers of State. At 12:50 AM la Spada del Pueblo assaults the Cathedral and kills all inside. Il Imperio is thrown into disarray as the entire ruling regime is decapitated. In the subsequent firefight to drive them out the Cathedral suffers catastrophic damage.

Il Imperatore is never found and a popular myth arises that he will return in the nation's darkest hour as a savior.   • August 21, 1904: [Ursh] The Emergency Military Government is replaced by an Oligarchal Republic run by the heads of the various Corporazioni.
  • August 22, 1904: [Ursh] Following the first meeting of the Corporazioni La Repubblica Brasiliana is refounded. I Corporazioni are dismantled and in the place of the Corporationist State a Liberal Republic is again declared. The heads of the now defunct Corporazioni seize the wealth of their respective enterprises and begin to move to cement themselves as the new ruling class.
  • December 25, 1905: [Ursh] The Church after a year of underground preparation calls for Revolution. Decrying the Oligarchs as traitors to the Catholic People and Nation the aging Patriarch de la Cruz calls upon Los Caballeros and el Poblacion Catolico to rise up and depose them.
  • Febuary 15, 1905: [Ursh] Los Caballeros and the Army meet near Goiânia, both sides fight ferociously with the Army retreating first. Over 10,000 soldiers are killed though the Master of Los Caballeros dies of wounds sustained in the battle. The two sides withdraw towards their respective hinterlands.
  • May 26, 1905: [Ursh] Again Los Caballeros and the newly formed Ejercito Catolico meet the Army near Goiânia. This time the Army holds the city and after ferocious urban combat manages to counter-attack and rout the Catholic Forces. Total victory is not secured however as the people of Goiânia rise as Holy Martyrs for the Church and occupy the Army long enough for the Catholic Army to retreat.
  • July 11, 1905: [Ursh] While the Army and Catholic Forces fight a war of manuver in the countryside the Iron Line becomes the site of prolonged trench warfare. Salvador as a traditionally secular center serves as the temporary capital of the Liberal Repubblica Brasiliana with la Ciudad de Dios serving as the focal point for the Catholic Revolution. The two sides settle into a war of attrition with the front near Vitória which is split between the two factions.
  • September 20, 1905: [Ursh] The Republican Navy and a makeshift Catholic Fleet meet on the highseas. Following six hours of naval combat both fleets are devestated and for the rest of the war the only decisive action will be on land.
  • Febuary 1, 1906: [Ursh] The Liberal Repubblica expropriates the lands and holdings of the Catholic Church within the territory it controls. The Church after consulting with il Papa excommunicates all citizens of the Liberal Republic who do not rise in revolt.
  • May 2, 1906: [Ursh] El Sindicato de Campesinos Catolicos finally formally sides with the Church and calls upon all peasants to withhold grain from the Liberal Republic. The cities begin to starve and chaos spreads. Simultaneously El Sindicato de Obreros Catolicos is formed underground in Salvador.
  • June 3, 1906: [Ursh] The Liberal Republic institues "Emergency Measures" and requisitions grain from peasants. Using a heavy hand it reimposes order, though it will never again be able to extend power into the countryside.
  • July 20, 1910: [Ursh] After five years of war the Liberal Republic is clearly close to defeat. It´s armies have held their ground along the front but the loss of the rural territories has meant that slowly the Catholic forces have managed to open a second front to the west of Salvador.
  • September 1, 1910: [Ursh] With the western front and southern front close to collapse el Sindicato de Obreros Catolicos launches a general strike in Salvador. This is combined with a renewed offensive from Los Caballeros de San Sebastián which brings the Catholic forces to the outskirts of Salvador. The liberal government surrenders unconditionally and Patriarch de la Cruz dies only hours before the so called, "Cruzada para Justicia" comes to an end. His successor Patriarch Simón Montero commands the Catholic Army to disarm all remaining Republican forces. He assumes autocratic powers as the sole remaining political pole within the country.
  • April 26, 1920: [Ursh] The memory of la Cruzada para Justicia is immortalized in a series of gigantic murals that put the finishing touch on the reconstruction effort. Patriarch Montero makes the revolutionary step of expanding the Iron Line to include the state of São Paulo.
  • July 23, 1921: [Ursh] El Sindicato de Campesinos Catolicos conducts the first census and land survey since il Imperio. The population is reported at nearly fifty million people.
  • October 10, 1925: [Ursh] El Sindicato de Obreros Catolicos organizies a general strike against what it calls, "The unchristian tyranny of the Bourgeoise". After initial indescision the Government suppresses the mobilization.
  • November 11, 1930: [Ursh] Again El Sindicato de Obreros Catolicos organizes a general strike against, "Unchristian Tyranny" and again the State represses the movement.
  • September 3, 1935: [Ursh] A young lawyer named Achile Robledo forms, "Le Spade della Nazione". Despite similarity of name, this "Spada" is decided Nationalist-Corporationist and quickly gains traction amongst the youth.
  • January 1, 1940: [Ursh] Achile Robledo, the aged National Hero Javier Pedro Casales, and the student Mario Falco develop what is known in Brasil as, Fascismo, drawing upon elements of non-Marxist Socialism, Nationalism, and Militant Catholicism. These "Fasciti" appeal to the surviving veterans of La Cruzada and the mobilized youth to unite in the name of national salvation in the face of a stagnant and increasingly anti-social justice Church Hierarchy.
  • June 9, 1941: [Ursh] Following another wave of repression that sees Achile Robledo and Javier Pedro Casales killed, Mario Falco leads an armed procession to la Ciudad de Dios. Marching beneath a golden cross and carrying torches, National banners, and rifles, this ten thousand strong procession meets and then is joined by the Army. The Patriarch is forced to resign, his office is abolished following an appeal to il Papa and the State is uneasily left to the Fascists of Mario Falco.
  • June 10, 1941: [Ursh] La Repubblica-Sociale Brasiliano is reforounded and El Union Republicano-Sociale [Hispano] is resurrected with Mario Falco at it's head. I Corporazioni are reformed and supported by a complementary structure of, "Industrial Belts" which are Working Class only. This ensures that the economy is both National and Social.
  • March 25, 1953: [Ursh] The URS[H] holds it's first formal "Party Congress" and writes the Constitution of La Repubblica-Sociale. This "Statuto Nazionale" is severly lacking in terms of democratic rights, but the level of social and economic equity and stability offered by i Fascisti means that the population grudgingly accepts it as the law of the land.

The workers accept the later and Socialization is reintroduced, though never in the manner and levels of the past or present strategic sectors.

So the oldest complete incarnation of my Ministry of the Interior forces numbered 1.25 million men arranged in several groups. The new organization is significantly smaller but still incomplete. Here is what I have so far.

• Diplomatic Protection Group: Primary goal is to secure embassies and consulates around the world since I do not have a Marine Embassy Guard (10,000 men).
• Interior Ministry Troops: Primary goal is to assist local and state law enforcement, guard the border, and provide additional security against invasion (62,500 men).

The DPG is big because unlike the Marines I don't put 6 men at an embassy to guard it, I prefer to do anywhere from a platoon of men (in a safe place) to a company of men (in an unsafe place). The consulates have anywhere from two squads of men to a platoon of men, again depending on the threat level.

The IMT are glorified weekend warriors and I do mean weekend (active reservists report and deploy more than they do). They do the 1 weekend a month and 2 weeks a year and not at all like the US does it where they actually get deployed into combat. They are the last vestiges of any military unit with HMMWVs and Strykers (yes this is what they use) because the threat level just isn't meant to be that high. The border guards personnel are full-time and they guard the more dangerous border positions (Mississippi River [formerly], Mexico, Mato Grosso, Brazil [smugglers], and Hainan [China]). The rest of each 8,750-man IMT division are national guardsmen who are truly weekend warriors. They only get called up for training, mass riots, insurrection, natural disasters, and invasion. The ILDF is not used in the capacity of the US National Guard hence why these guys exist. There are six total divisions and a 2,500-man HQ unit at the organizational level.

Past incarnations had a Civil Defense Group (civilians with paramilitary training who would respond in an invasion and become guerillas) and an Infrastructure Protection Group (glorified cops with extra training to secure bridges, power plants, rail yards, etc during an invasion). I don't know that I'll include either of these in the new MotI.

Edit [4/20] - Will be giving the IMT units some organic air assets (i.e. Hueys and Little Birds) so the number of men in each division ought to increase a little but the aim is to keep the organization size the same.

Edit #2 [4/20] - Well the IMT increase didn't work out as evenly as I'd hoped. Each of the National Guard battalions went up by 250 because of air assets and logistics while the Border Guards battalion went up to 50 persons. So the whole IMT division went up to 10,000 men and the organization went to 62,500 men. Still small and light considering. Organization as a whole now stands at 75,000 men attached to the uniformed apparatus (72,500 as above + 2,500 additional men for HQ operations).
