I have decided, with Mod approval, to restart my 'For Queen and Country' thread, in order to go down a more political route for my claim of Britain. The reasons for this are numerous, not the least of which is the acrimony surrounding the thread in many respects, which I hope a fresh start will do good for. Furthermore, a political outcome, rather than a major war, also leaves the door open for other players, new and old, to have a freer hand moving forwards with regards to nations available in Europe.

  • March 15, 2017: [Valinor1] After spending months of gathering support through the various factions throughout the Confederation, Aurius Osius Belluso and his friend, and fellow Senator, Aucius Orius Cerusea, launch a political coup within the Confederation. Belluso becomes Consul of the Senate and launches an official campaign to restore the Roman Empire to it's former glory. All former holdings accept the offer and send representatives to begin the re-integration, except Achaea, which expectedly refuses.
  • April 7, 2017: [Valinor1] Buffered by reinforcements from Canada, Roman legions have secured southern Italy and the island of Sicily and prepare for an invasion of Egypt.
  • April 21, 2017: [Valinor1] A coup from within the Achaean government, notably lead by commander in chief, General Spiros Domazos launches from all across the nation in the early pre-dawn hours and by sunrise, the coup has secured the government and imprisoned more then ten thousand officials. Domazos announces the coup, publicly, at 0700 stating that it is time for all Romans to be united under a single government like it was for centuries, and resistance is near instant in some areas, specifically in the Aegean islands where auxiliary units have risen up.
  • April 22 - 28, @017: [Valinor1] Attempts to recover the islands in the north Aegean, and to eliminate the commanders of the auxiliary units, are met with mixed results; initially swinging in Roman favor after the initial capture of the primary commander, Patis, but the second team is captured, tortured and forced into a confession on live television. Attempts to recon or conduct strikes on the island also fail, and the Empire of Layarteb offers to step in as a peacekeeping force.

Well unfortunately it looks like Kosovian Socialist Republics may have pulled away from attempting to join as a partial member. Hopefully he's just got a lot going on but in the event that he has, this below is a solid summary of what I am doing with the Southern Balkans Confederation. Hopefully this can be a bit of a key to the storylines I have going on that I will ultimately wrap up in the next few months. Posting this here should give me some help too remembering the what from the who.

This summary will hopefully detail the plotlines of my own writing that involve the SBC. I may miss something in the details - not that this is my intention - so if you notice something please call it out to me.

Threads

• The Quiet War
  
  • The Quiet War is an ongoing, story-based RP that began ICly in December 2014. It takes place in the immediate aftermath of an Apilonian strike on the Cyrenaican (RL Libya) city of Benghazi. It follows the effects of that strike as well as the further trials and tribulations of Al-Shams and the hunt for Al-Shams. It features the first mention of the Solak Organization.
• The Scorpion's Nest
  
  • The Scorpion's Nest is an RP that began telling the story of the rise of Los Soldados de Puebla. It is linked directly into Phantoms of History, which is the continuation of the story.
• Phantoms of History
  
  • Phantoms of History is an ongoing, story-based RP that began ICly in December 2015. The intent of the story was to detail the rise of a new, super cartel in Mexico bringing about a new drug war. This cartel has links to a South American, Marxist government in the former Argentina area known as the United Provinces of Bavinese. Again, the Solak Organization makes an appearance, this time as an arms broker for assisting the cartel named Los Soldados de Puebla or LSP acquire weapons through another organization known as Grupo Castillo. The current status of the RP as of this post is the Layartebian invasion and annexation of the territory of Sergipe.
• Burning Eagle
  
  • Burning Eagle is a non-active RP that was meant to detail the rise of the Svarog Workers Party, a pro-communist, banned organization in the SBC. Irceni, a partial member, wanted to RP this group and he would have been receiving support from the USSR (Marimaia). I was to detail a drug-smuggling ring at Pristina Air Base (under Layartebian control from the Layarteb City Accord) linked to the Solak Organization. The RP is currently defunct though I still intend to work out this small storyline in the future.

Terms & Organizations

• Grupo Castillo
  
  • Grupo Castillo is an organization that was formed in the 2000s. It was the result of a merger of anti-Layartebian, pro-Marxist dissidents from Cuba (annexed by the EOL in 1998 - 1999) and the Bavinese National Front. Grupo Castillo utilized its contacts within the Solak Organization to help secure arms and money for the Bavinese National Front to take over Argentina and parts of South America. Following the victory of the BNF, Grupo Castillo acted in the background to secure money and influence throughout the world with the aim of funding the black operations of the United Provinces of Bavin and opposing Layartebian imperialism. After Sergipe was annexed by the Bavinese, Grupo Castillo moved its operations and headquarters there, infiltrating every part of Sergipano society as the Bavinese aimed to transform the country.
  • Following the collapse of the United Provinces of Bavin, Grupo Castillo secured Sergipe as its fiefdom and began to work on its goal of bringing the Bavinese revolution to the rest of South America one country at a time. In addition, they aimed to thwart the Empire of Layarteb at every turn. Grupo Castillo essentially took on a life of its own and took over the direction for Los Soldados de Puebla and other Bavinese interests. When Sergipe was annexed by the Empire of Layarteb, Grupo Castillo's membership disappeared and were largely uncaptured. Many relocated throughout the Western Hemisphere to continue to fight the Empire of Layarteb.
• Layarteb City Accord
  
  • The Layarteb City Accord was signed in July 2013. It brokered a peace deal between the SBC and the Federation of Lacoze following a stalemated war between the two nations. The Empire of Layarteb and the Roman Empire (at the time) acted as guarantors of the peace agreement. It was signed in Layarteb City and allowed the Empire of Layarteb to establish three military bases in theater: Aviano, Italy, Zeljava, Croatia/Bosnia, and Pristina, Kosovo. That deployment commenced on July 18, 2013. Currently, the Layarteb City Accord does not have a built-in, sunset provision.
• Los Soldados de Puebla
  
  • Los Soldados de Puebla is a mega cartel headquartered in the Mexican city of Puebla. In 2011, after years of ongoing strife from the drug wars, Mexico was invaded by the Bavinese. A covert and clandestine war broke out between the Empire of Layarteb and Bavin in Mexico. Upon the defeat and withdrawal of the Bavinese from Mexico, Los Soldados de Puebla was formed as a "stay behind" force. They were given the task of becoming more powerful than the Mexican government so that they could eventually take over the Mexican government and return the Bavinese movement to the country. From 2011 - 2015, members of this cartel infiltrated Los Zetas and the Cártel de Jalisco Neuva Generación (CJNG) so that its members were near the top positions of both cartels by 2015. In The Scorpion's Nest, LSP begins their rise by merging both cartels together and essentially bringing battle to the Mexican government. By doing so they have begun the largest cartel in Mexico and rival some of the other, larger cartels in the world.
  • Though Los Soldados de Puebla is a Mexican drug cartel, they also assist in trafficking arms and women for prostitution and sex slavery. They are an ideological organization that is fully vested in the Bavinese movement. They oppose the Empire of Layarteb and are funded, directed, and supported by Grupo Castillo.
• Solak Organization
  
  • The Solak Organization is an international smuggling and crime syndicate based in Sirnak, Turkey. It has a shipping hub in Gölcük, Turkey and a distribution hub in Durrës, Albania. It was founded by Mahmut Solak, an ethnic Kurd. His brother-in-law Aslan had been running the hub in Durrës until his "untimely" death of a cocaine overdose. His death is detailed in The Quiet War when the organization was introduced. He was replaced by Husain Abujamal, an Egyptian who worked logistics for the Sepah-e Pasdaran terrorist group in Turkey and Egypt. He has many black market contacts and is naturally connected to Al-Shams as Al-Shams is the successor to the Sepah-e Pasdaran group.
  • The Solak Organization deals in two main areas of trafficking and smuggling. The first is arms, which it acquires from sources in Central Asia and the USSR (this role is as yet undefined in detail). Its clients are Cyrenaica, Al-Shams, Grupo Castillo, and the SBC's government. The second is in illegal narcotics, mainly opium and heroin. It grows opium from its own fields in Turkey and also helps Los Soldados de Puebla import heroin into Europe, Africa, and Asia. On a smaller scale, the Solak Organization also helps traffic women for prostitution and sex slavery as well as numerous items on the black market.

• Summary: The Southern Balkans Confederation is a small, European state in the Balkans. It is ruled as a single-party democracy with no term limits to the sitting President. Elections are held only once every six years. Economically, the country is stagnant due to meddlesome policies that benefit the ruling politicians. The country is very corrupt. Militarily, it is balanced. Though it has a small force, they are well trained and properly led. This allowed the Southern Balkans Confederation to push the Federation of Lacoze out of Albania in 2012. The sitting government, while more popular than previous administrations, only holds power by a loose thread. At any given time a military coup is possible due to the way the political system is oriented.

Intent
With all of the information above, you might see only a part of a picture. Ideally, I can be allowed just to finish the current storyline of the Solak Organization. There is an active justice and intelligence investigation into the Solak Organization in both Turkey and the SBC. It's working up to a big finish (naturally) so I would love to be able to close the book on that and work through that in the timeline.

Well - it's been quite some time since we had a post in here and not because we're not active. We are - just barely.

So here is a wonderful little tidbit. The EOL has a new export plane. It's a light fighter and basically replaces the F-54 Adder that's been swapped out since the F-54 Adder was just an M-346 Master and not much else.
