OOC This is a restart of an old topic, that tanked. Yes, Vadia used to be me. OOC topic http://forum.nationstates.net/viewtopic.php?ns=1&f=5&t=224493&p=12915364#p12915364
The year is 1115AV(After Vadia), but much of the world says it is 2127AD. Over one hundred and fifteen years after "The Second Golden Age, what became known as the Illuminein race had finally reached a point where it could leave the globe. The NTF had been pushing for colonization of the solar system for some time now, but had never able to achieve it due to many problems. Now it was finally the time for such a event to take place, now it was time for the frontier to move. This "Second Golden Age" was a time of prosperity unheard of in times before. Goods had become so cheap that many could easily afford them, wealth was enjoyed by the masses rather then the few. Yet, this wealth was not enough to hold back the tides of change in the world. The strong became stronger, the powerful became more powerful, and everyone else ether made friends with them or faced defeat. Many of the smaller nations fell apart in waves of radicalism never before seen, Fundamentalism and Aggressive Atheism still tore much of the land apart.
Such hatred and scorn was unearthly, hellish even to those who followed the "New Way". Thus the people acted quickly and the stockpile of weapons went even faster then before. In these dreaded times, Emperor Richard united all who followed the New Way or were part of the Neo-Terran Alliance. Afterward the rapid advances culturally, financially, and scientifically were used to make a grand army. A Federal Army was created to restore order to the parts of the world in chaos and disarray. Sure there were friends who backed these warriors, but they had many powerful enemies and could not lend much support. The Dreaded Upper held people down; the rich overlords and tyrants who wished to remain in power. The Foolish Middle helped, they lied to the people so that they could eventually gain power.
Such people where hit with a wave of aggression that was unseen of before. The Federal Army was everywhere and was always watching everybody. If it couldn't reach an area or foe, it kindly asked an ally to do it for them. This went on even as many of the great powers had sent people out to the stars. Now that some order has been placed on the world, it was time to do the same out and finally reach into space. A moon around Zeus was untouched and would be perfect for a military installation. The NTF completed some of the project, corporations did some of it, and the rest was done by allies. The ships had been finished, the space station was orbiting the earth. Now was the time to launch the beginnings of Federal Interstellar Navy.
As the Federal Capital-Ship lifted off, it's two escorts lifted off the launching pads and followed. The capital ship had fuel for the other two ships, as well as some basic fighters and cargo for settlement. The Destroyers were loaded with thick armor and rail guns, along with a number of smaller rapid-fire laser cannons and long range missile launchers. The ships were larger then what was normal, but looks and comfort was sacrificed for performance. As the ships lifted off into the cold space outside the planet, billions watched the news and cheered a new dawn for mankind. The crew and pilots had spent years training in simulations, they knew how to fly the thing before it was even made. As it started the month long journey to that moon around Jupiter, the marines inside waited for the worse. Paranoia was common for these people, everyone seemed out to get them. The only problem was; most the time, they were right.
Over the first week or so it pushed past a reddish planet, the crew and Federal Interplanetary Marines had started to get used to the ship's gravity. Overall their armor covered every inch of their body, most of it was able to deflect between one to two shots from even some of the most powerful rounds available to military powers. Inside each was a small system that maintained temperature and provided breathable air. Almost all of them were experienced veterans from several conflicts and had trained underwater for this deployment. Thus boarding the ships was not exactly an option for other factions, leaving short range space combat as the only option. However sensors for most sides couldn't see that far ahead and even thou their weapons could shoot long distances, they wouldn't be able to know what they were aiming at.
Nonetheless, their eyes were open and they watched, as well as waited.
