Civolpaedia wrote:The "Standardization of Currencies in The Imperial League" Act (Voluntary):

Introduction: An Act to Standardize the Unit of Currency Utilized within the Member Nations of The Imperial League.

Recognizing: That it is in the Greater Interest of the members of The Imperial League, that trade be made easy, simple, and standardized. This will enable quicker conversions, smoother commerce, among Member Nations of The Imperial League.

In such a recognition, The Minister of Trade, Councillor N.D. Swan of Civolpaedia, for The Imperial League, highly recommends, that Member Nations, Adopt for theirNational Currency, the Gold Coin.

Drafted, this December 23rd, 2012, 0105hrs, Pacific Daylight Savings Time
Councillor N.D. Swan, Minister of Trade, The Imperial League
of Civolpaedia

I am afraid that the Ruivan Empire would have to decline this proposal, we have used the Ruiv since the founding of our nation and as a result the Ruiv has become ingrained to the very economy of the Ruivan Empire, to change it so suddenly would invite economic chaos within our nation.

I thank the minister for his proposal, it will unfortunately need to be reworded to fit Government format. Once this is done we will put it aside to allow for a number of Commercial Laws to face the council at the same time.

I do wholeheartedly oppose the notion of standardised currency as I believe it is weak economic policy and can only end with a wallet full of paper with a number and some picture printed on it.

This does bring up the next issue that this council should address; Trade and Commerce. I am of the opinion that we should create another “thread” with a link on the regional fact book to a “Trade Office” (a better name might not be a bad idea). This office would be maintained by the trade minister in the same way that I maintain the other 2. Within this there would be a number of sections.

1. List of nations who sign a free trade agreement within the Imperial League, with provision for friendly external nations to sign.

2. A list of shop fronts maintained by members of the region or foreign signatories to the free trade agreement

3. A database of the designs of banknotes maintained by regional members and foreign signatories to the free trade agreement

The Ruivan Empire would like to officially protest over the trial of the nation of ceased against the The Crown citing that the ruling for the case and the Crowns evidence set fourth during the trial as being based upon what one nation said is as well as the comments made by the prosecutor during the trial as unjust.

I believe he is requesting that the Council vote on overturning the verdict.
In light of what The Imperial Regnant and the Council knows about King George III's TGs to me have said, I don't see this happening. However, if the Council chooses to even consider voting for this matter, it has been brought to my attention that my vote may be biased. If the Council chooses to vote on this matter, and if they feel my vote is biased, I will happily waive my right to vote on the issue, and allow The Imperial Regnant to vote in my place.

The Ruivan Empire would like to put fourth a vote to have the verdict of guilty and the subsequent sentence delivered unto the nation of Ceased during his trial to be rescinded and dropped on the grounds that the entire trial was unjust due to the fact that at no time in any where in the published law section is there a law against speaking out against the council. we have read the entire thread and followed the proceedings of the trial and believe that a nation should be judged by his actions not his words.

I vote no to this matter.
The jury decided.
It was unanimous.
And the law states in 3.4B= Any action, which is not outlined in this document, and paints a nation’s character in a poor light and is deemed so by his peers is a crime.

Speaking out aggressively against the Government and Council painted his character in poor light according to a jury of his peers.
Therefore the verdict and punishment are valid.

read 3.4B

you obviously missed that one.

the verdict is valid.
i will not vote for rescinding any verdict or punishment.
and let's be honest, he should have defended himself better.
he didn't take it seriously.
he got what he deserved.

b. Any action, which is not outlined in this document, and paints a nation’s character in a poor light and is deemed so by his peers is a crime.

this law is a blatant violation of a nations freedom of speech which is endorsed by the the world assembly not only is this law extremely vague it is highly unjust the fact that the entire trial was based off of this law disappoints the Ruivan empire this law should either be removed or spelled out clearly because it is not fair that a nation has to watch what they say for fear of violating a law that is not even clear.

So, Ruivan,
You are now calling for 2 Council proposals.
1. Overturn the verdict and remove the punishment in Case TIL001
2. Remove 3.4B from the Published Regional Law.

Is this accurate?

Freedom of Expression

A resolution to increase democratic freedoms.

Category: Furtherment of Democracy

Strength: Mild

Proposed by: Omigodtheykilledkenny

Description: Assured that freedom of expression is an essential human right deserving of international protection;

Determined that no one should have to put their lives, families, liberty or property at risk for expressing honest dissent with, otherwise criticizing or even satirizing their leaders, governments, societies, churches or any other institutions of established power;

Chastened by the sacrifices already made by prisoners and victims of conscience throughout the world;

Nonetheless convinced that free expression does not extend to such abuses as defamation, incitements to disorder, or academic fraud;

Agreed that for purposes of this resolution defamation is defined as the use of knowingly false information, or the raising of such with reckless disregard for its truthfulness, in a deliberate attempt to impugn the character or reputation of any individual, group or organization, excepting government institutions or political leaders,

Be it therefore resolved that the World Assembly:

Affirms the right of all people to express their personal, moral, political, cultural, religious and ideological views freely and openly, without fear of reprisal;

Requires member states to respect and uphold this right in all available media to all individuals under their jurisdiction;

Expects member states to enforce this right fairly and equitably in the application of national laws;

Allows member states to set reasonable restrictions on expression in order to prevent defamation, as well as plagiarism, copyright or trademark infringement, and other forms of academic fraud; incitements to widespread lawlessness and disorder, or violence against any individual, group or organization; the unauthorized disclosure of highly classified government information; the unauthorized disclosure of strictly confidential personal information; and blatant, explicit and offensive pornographic materials;

Forbids member states from abusing these restrictions in an effort to stifle free expression among law-abiding citizens.

Votes For: 3,225 (76%)
Votes Against: 992 (24%)

Implemented: Thu Jan 1 2009

Ok, then I will do you a favor, because I am a reasonable, and nice guy, even though your words on the RMB towards me weren't very nice.

As a Council Member, I hereby bring to the Council a proposal.
Ruivan would like the verdict and punishment in Case TIL001 overturned and dropped.
Ruivan would also like 3.4B removed from Published Regional Law until a more clear version can be established.

As a Council Member, I hereby waive my right to vote on this matter.
As Chair of the Council, The Imperial Regnant shall take my vote on this matter.

-General Cole, Minister of Defense

""incitements to widespread lawlessness and disorder, or violence against any individual,""

That is part of your WA resolution.
Ceased violated it.
He incited disorder by attempting to overthrow the established government.
He also incited violence against me by stating that if we went to war, he would destroy me.

Don't post something that can hurt your case, just for future reference.

no i believe that your vote should be cast as well this is a fair place where we ALL come together to decide things if you allow yourself to not have a vote here then you are doing yourself and the entire Imperial league a disservice cast your vote it matters.
