Because the next part gets really ugly.

Pressure is a very wonderful thing. Like a roll of toothpaste, the more you flatten from the bottom, stuff tries to come out the top. The chest cage begins to expand like a balloon shape, as intestines and lungs and other delectable organs are pushed up as the body is pushed down. The body manages to retain enough strength, that the organs don't explode through the chest. Of course another wonderful effect is the blood. The pressure crusher doesn't allow blood to escape from the bottom, so the blood has to find another way out. Veins can handle only so much, yet internal bleeding is occurring all over. So it creates these giant boils throughout the body as the blood begins to collect. The person would still be alive, but they'll probably have passed out at this time. Nothing a shot of adrenaline won't fix though. It's only then when death is taken away from them, that you really begin to hear them scream. Of course, the lungs have been pushed up to the top of their rib cage and so screaming comes across more like someone scratching a blackboard then an actual human sound. Needless to say, its very annoying.
