Name of Realm: The Council of Saybel
Description of Realm (Paragraph): The Land of the Lost Men, originally thought of as simple folklore, was cut off from the world for the best part of recorded history. Indeed, before their reappearance at the start of the rifting, those who fled Sabyema for the Land of the Lost Men were cut off entirely from the rest of the world, lost to history. After the Great Exodus, the few hundred who landed at the Land were amazed by its beauty and wealth - From the small but very powerful 'Pygmy Dragons' who dwelled there and were quickly domesticated to strange artefacts left by a long-extinct local civilization. In the first few years, many of this who settled quickly died, either to disease, infighting, or the deadly creatures that inhabited the land. The civilization that emerged was extremely uniform, culturally, socially, and physically, due partly to the resolve and closeness of the community of Sabyemen, and also due to the inbreeding that occurred as a result of the tiny population. Though they still call themselves Sabyemen (or a close equivalent, as five hundred years of isolation has meant they've developed their own language), they look nothing like their distant native cousins - Centuries of using the magical artefacts on the island has warped them physically - Slimly built, with dark red eyes contrasting against their tanned skin, the Sabyemen (or 'Lost Men') may look similar to the old Sabyemen or the Numerians, but these striking differences cause them to stand out. Their society is heavily ritualized and extremely religious (though their religion is a form of animism rather than polytheism), and magic use is omnipresent through the many relics and enchantments the Sabyemen use.
Demonym: Sabyemen
Race: Lost Men
Languages: Sabyel (Derivative of old Sabyeman).
Religion: Animism
Head of State: Head Chancellor Darcassus
Seat of Power: Accrya
Population: 850,000
RL Fluency in English: Fluent (First language).
Example of previous RP: No need - I'm only claiming the Lost Islands, so put me down as a Category 1 (I'm not all that active anyways).
Provinces Claiming: The Islands of the Lost Men
Why you wish to join: Seemed like a nice concept - I applied for Caedan but I was too overwhelmed by all the mechanics and would rather just RP.

Maybe I could just a few select trading posts spread out along the coast with no real control of the land outside of their walls? Would a strip of land connecting my inland provinces to the coast be possible too?

They very well might, although the troublesome part is retconning previous statements about these targeted lands once being independent and now suddenly being part of a big empire.

Well so far in To Sail Into the Sunrise a Lateral expedition has headed northwest along the River Wye (map is in my Factbook), been attacked by barbarian natives about halfway down the river, met with some of Shie's ships near the river's mouth, and found a nice place to build a port. The expansion claim related to this is marked in the update thread. In that same thread there've been big Shie and Hanaluan fleets in the archipelagic sea.

Their future plans were to head west along the coast, the expedition goal being to search for an overland link between the central and western continents (which doesn't exist, but they don't know that). This isn't hugely jossed by Elderia, since the expedition was expecting to meet elves of some sort due to the existing NPN on the map, plus I now do have an excuse to cancel the expedition if I want.

How about pencilling the area in as an NPC? Something like a load of loosely-organised barbarians who have until now stubbornly resisted subjugation by either Elderia or the Laterals. With Elderia being a maritime power the 'break' in its continental territories should be tolerable, and we could RP the next campaign against them.

Miscellaneous Notes:
- I have left out claimed nations and their lands that have yet to post an IC post or who have been inactive for so many months. These include the lands claimed by New Hayeselia, OMGeverynameistaken, Volantos, Angermanland, and many more who have applied, been accepted, and done nothing.

- The red circles don't really mean anything and are mostly there for highlighting purposes. The only exception being for the area indicated by RP #3. The smaller and larger circles are each claimed by different folks. I'm running a resistance group from the smaller circle, with help from Akasha Colony's Hanalua and Ish'Cong's Anantar, while Angle Empire is trying to take over the larger circle with his Stetthian Empire.

- The RPs noted are the ones that include the various expansion efforts. Again, I have not listed any that have been inactive.

EDIT:: Edited the map to include a missed RP #1 claim off to the far west in the middle of the ocean.

EDIT2:: Didn't realize imageshack secretly downgraded the resolution; new map is better, heh.

Name of Realm: The Empire of Mictlan
Description of Realm (Paragraph): The Mictlani Empire is an ancient nation, its tale a lust for power and the temptations of dark and spiteful gods. Many centuries ago, what comprises Mictlan was divided into the lands of five city-states: Henoctitlan, Kuzko, Tikanqui, Qlacopaz, and Xibalba. Though much of their history has been lost to time, it is known that the five city-states fought with each other constantly, waging campaigns and small wars over land, resources, slaves, and sacrifices. The age was dark and miserable, regular bouts of plague and starvation killing off thousands. It is said that if a man lived long enough and was not killed in war, or taken as slave, or sacrificed to the gods, he would live long enough to see his family starve from having his crops burned or taken by an occupying army.

Alliances were short lived and common. It was normal for several city-states to gang up on one, only for the neutral city-state to support the one being ganged up upon, and for the alliance to break up and switch sides, endlessly repeating. Among these states was the lowly Xibalba, long the weakest and poorest of city-states, little more than a vassal of its neigbour, Qlacopaz. Xibalba was ruled by Huitzilihuitl, a pious and intelligent king. In the long extinct language of his ancient people, it meant 'Jaguar Paw'. Like his people, Jaguar Paw hated being subservient to Qlacopaz, and hated that his city's wealth and its souls were for their rulers to reap. Though he prayed to the gods, their fate was never lifted. Things became grim later on, his city suffering from a terrible famine as a result of Qlacopaz being forced to cede farmland to Tikanqui. Though it was hated, no revolution had Qlacopaz for many years because they had always protected Xibalba. With their defeat, that silent trade of subservience for protection was broken, and the fire of rebellion was lit in the belly of Jaguar Paw and his people.

But suffering from plague and disease, no hand could be raised against their oppressor's might. Hate festered like an open sore, not unlike the sores of the many plague victims his city now possessed. In this darkest hour, whispers of evil creeped from the shadows of Jaguar Paw's mind. It is said that the four headed serpent god of the underworld, Miquiztli, spoke to him. Miquiztli offered him power and riches beyond belief, offered him a way to overthrow the hated Qlacopaz, and even best the terrible armies of the other city-states. Against Jaguar Paw's better judgement, he found himself intrigue's by the serpent god's offer. When he asked what was to be given in return, Miquiztli merely laughed. He told him that he need only sacrifice his offer his soul, and the soul of his brother. The next day, Jaguar Paw summoned the city's populace to the Temple of the Gods, where sacrifices were offered to the pantheon for various reasons.

It is there that he performed a strange and disturbing ritual, scaring the populace. His brother at his side, he ordered his men to hold him down, plunging a sacrificial dagger into chest. A horrified city watching, he carved out his brother's heart, burning the body to ashes in the fire and offering the heart (which in Mictlani mythology contains the soul) to the black serpent himself. Next he plunged the dagger into his own chest, falling backwards into the fire. The ritual infused his dying body with the power of the dark gods. An explosion of infernal energy blanketed the populace, mutating the populace into the undead. No longer was Jaguar Paw a mere man, he now stood as a Daemon King. Miquiztli had fulfilled his side of the bargain, the people of Xibalba were free. They knew no hunger, nor pain, nor age. Xibalba was transformed into a hell on the mortal plane, great plumes of fire spouting forth from unnatural and distubing architecture.

Daemon King Huitzilihuitl led his army of the dead out of Xibalba, carving a terrible path of bloodshed and wanton slaughter through the land. Effortlessly, his twisted minions conquered Qlacopaz, sacrificing its leaders to the dark gods and turning its populace into more mutated undead. With a massive army and resources beyond compare, the balance of power had been shifted, terrifying the rulers of the other three city-states. In an effort to halt the daemonic horde, the rulers of Henoctitlan, Kuzko, and Tikanqui formed an alliance. Their combined armies fought small bands of Xibalba's forces, though never could they find the full army. Slowly they were whittled down, until finally they were given fortune by finding a camp where the Xibalba's army lay sleeping. On the darkest night of the new moon, the armies charged in with full force, surrounding the camp on all sides. They ripped through its defences with ease, but something was wrong. There were no more than a few hundred souls in the camp, not the massive army they had expected. It is then that the horde swept down from the hills, led by the Daemon King himself.

The battle raged for fifteen days and nights, the hill-sized Daemon King and his forces slowly breaking the enemy apart. In a last attempt at victory, the powerful warrior mage and king of Henochtitlan, known as Itzoatl, challenged Jaguar Paw in a duel amidst the battle. In his arrogance, the beast accepted. Even as their armies fought and died, the ruins of Tikanqui burning all around them, Itzoatl could not best Jaguar Paw. Bleeding heavily, the warrior-mage collapsed to his knees, as if to beg for forgiveness. Seeing his chance, the great daemon threw him into his mighty jaws, swallowing him whole. But before he could fall into the beast's belly, Itzoatl offered his body and soul to the sun god. With his newfound power, he sacrificed himself, energy exploding outwards and oblitering the beast's heart. Without their kings, the armies of the allied city-states and the daemonic horde fell into disarray.

What followed is called the Age of Darkness. Roaming bands of daemons and undead fought ceaselessly, the desperate remnants of the few uncorrupted souls falling quickly. But time heals all wounds, even those of war. Slowly, the chaos faded to a more manageable level, five city-states resuming their state of alliances and squabbling, each city dedicated to an individual head of the serpent god (each one being, in effect, their own god). Three centuries ago, however, the leadership of Xibalba changed hands once more to an undead priest, who had himself been present during the reign of Jaguar Paw. His name is Toteotzin Nahuitletl, the Lord of the Four Fires. He won the favour of Melahuactletl, the god of magic, deceit, change, and knowledge by pitting the ruling families of the other four city-states against each other, allowing him to annex each one as Xibalba's vassal. He gained the favour of Tlazolteotl, the goddess of death, plague, decay, and fear by spreading the gift of undeath to fringe human villages. He gained the favour of Calmananiletl, the goddess of pleasure, pain, excess, wine, and fertility by ravaging captured enemies, by forging an empire through excessive cruelty.

Having rebuilt an empire, the Lord of the Four Fires seeks now to gain the favour of Cocatonaletl, the god of war, destruction, fire, blood, and masculinity. His eyes turn westward, seeing an empire in decline, one perfect for his needs.

Demonym: Mictlani.
Race: Daemon Men and Zombies.
Languages: Xibalban, various minority languages.

Head of State: Toteotzin Nahuitletl, the Lord of the Four Fires.

I have to finish up getting to that border first although in the interests of time, I suppose I could cut that short and move on.

Slight correction, but the result of RP #4 will also lead to me adding those 4 provinces between the dark green and purple, and below light green.

Take your time, I'm not rushing you. In fact I'm still in the process of finishing my descriptions of each city and settlement, also I have a project for my online class coming up that may or may not take up a large chunk of my free time.

It isn't really a rush since the plot wasn't really going anywhere and it was just tacked on to another thread. May as well take the chance to just end it.

In any event, what did you have in mind?

Yeah, I noticed that. I just figured I got removed for not being involved for six months.
