Well, Ino and Fan are large, so I imagine that there cities are atrocious. Whereas in the less dense rest of world, Cities are nice. By 1910, my pop will have surpassed 100 million. Just felt like saying that.

Guys, let's remember---in 2012, only what, 10 or 11 countries, had populations larger than 100 million. Since we're roughly a century before that....even accounting for much larger countries, concentrated population, etc, etc, 100 million is lolhuge.

I saw, with the superimposed map, that I'm the size of Spain+Morocco.

I thought Fan said Vapor was the same size of Earth, with the same rough characteristics---axial tilt, moon, size, etc.

Well, if Vapor IS the size of Earth, then we have a larger population than IRL at this time (1.9 billion to 1.6). This is not a problem, except our population is concentrated in a few nations, with a significant portion of the globe currently unclaimed---Earth's population, on the other hand, was distributed around the globe, with more nations and whatnot.

It's just something to keep in mind.

PANDA(I know it is closed and that this will most likely be rejected, but I decided to do it anyway)

Nation Name:The Republic of Herus
Government type: Democracy
Name and title of Nation Leader: Prime Minster Elwood Alnerian
Official language(s) (de jure): Heron
Commonly spoken language(s) (de facto): Heron, English, Cygnaran
Est. land area: 9,300,000 suare km(I am very open to shortening it)(On the map, it is the pencil line on Western Desaltonia)
Image

Est. population: 100 million(same as above)

Background, to convince you:

The land of Heron. A land of strife. A land of conflict. A land of opportunity.

Early in its history, isolated from many of the other powers, the natives of Desaltonia consolidated in the Western and Eastern halves. Using rich metal mines and overall innovative thinking, many kingdoms began to arise in the Western half, while the East stayed in Tribal Federations and Dictatorships, which always fell when put under stress.

By 554, the West had five main kingdoms. Three in the north and two in the South. All were absolute, their monarch’s word was law. Conflicts over petty land disputes were common, and the people suffered for it. Constant warfare continued until the West was split into three Kingdoms by 1024, One in the West, and two in the East(North and South). The Northern Kingdom, Apresh, was a terrible Tyranny, ruled by a true despot where taxes were the religion and plight of the poor was the staple sign. Crops failed from the heavy taxation, and the nobles ruled in fear of the monarch's ideas. The Southern Kingodm, Soqua, was also absolute, however the monarch was not really in control. More of a figurehead, the Monarch enacted decision from contributions of the nobles. Although this Kingdom was less insufferable then the Northern counterpart, it was still a terrible place for any serf. The Western Kingdom, Soeca, was different. After a collection of well lead peasant rebels, a constitution was established eliminating the monarch's absolute power. This Kingdom was better than the other two, but life was still hard due to the classism and medieval conditions. All three Kingdoms tried to ignore each other and instead focused on their own matters.

This all changed in 1147. The monarch of Apresh at the time had managed to assassinate the entire family of Soqua, throwing the Kingdom into chaos. Even when the nobles attempted to assume control, everything fell to infighting and petty attempts at power from every family. Enjoying this instability, Apresh invaded, making massive ground as the noble-led army was in poor organization and morale from the civil war.

Concerned, Soeca waited until the two massive armies of Apresh and Soqua met. After the Apresh army, ruled by the monarch, emerged victorious, Soeca invaded Apresh.

Apresh had gone to hell after the invasion, with most of the military in the invasion, after the monarch of Apresh died in battle, dozens of thousands of oppressed peasants and nobles rose in revolt. In fact, most of these defected to Soeca in return for the condition that they be treated the same as Soecan citizens under the Constitution. Apresh fell in weeks, with capitol falling one week after the invasion.

With the Apresh army facing a dead monarch and an occupied Kingdom, they defected to Soeca on the condition they be allowed the plunder of Soqua. With this offer, the Soecan monarch brought his remaining invasion troops and the new defected army to invaded Soqua under the casus belli of old, dusty documents granting his great-great-great-grandfather the Kingdom. After their army fell to Apresh, Soqua lasted little longer than Apresh, and surrendered under the same conditions.

For four centuries, the Joint Kingdom of Soeca ruled the entire west, eventually exerting its influence over the islands of the coast by 1458. Although rebellions in the South were common, they were rarely strong or popular enough to gain enough power to even challenge the standing army.

However, in 1583, dangerous ideas began to emerge. The "social contract" and "human rights" became topical among the lower classes, or those who weren't toiling in the fields all day. By 1605, the famous author Dominantus Alcovara wrote "The Human Condition" demanding certain "rights" for all subjects. Tis caused a massive uproar, and after decades of ecreasing noble power and the rise of the Plutocracy, revolution was inevetable.

Following Alcovara's beheading in 1606, hundreds of thousands of rebels under the leadership of forward thinking revolutionaries defeated the main royalist army two miles from the capitol. Establishing a new Republic, the revolutionaries outlawed the old monarchy and beheaded the King. Declaring a new state after the abolishment of all royal laws and scriptures, the Republic re-named itself "Herus" after the common tongue and culture the region shared. The Republic established a constitution, a system of voting, and a system of checks and balances. Even with this new government however, discrimination against the Eastern Desaltonians continued, and those with property could vote.

By 1725 that changed however, slavery was abolished, and the property requirement ended. The military system was revolutionized, using new gunpowder weapons and built a modern navy to police the seas.

War with Eastern Desaltonians continued, but as most citizens considered the place a hellhole, the Democracy decided never to advance further East for fear over stretching and an end to the popular peace that endured.

And so we have Herus today, from 1725 to current times, Herus was isolationist, but upon scientific advancement and globalization, Herus has begun a continued interest in international affairs, and is ready to step up to the plate as a true power.

80 million is still a rather high pop for a nation in vapor. I have a population of 14 million, and I'm not sure, but I think Cyprum has the highest pop.
