"Well, as always the Empire's position-" suddenly Alexander was knocked backwards, spitting blood. He was still conscious, but was disorientated. He looked down at the blood over the table, and back up at Gordon. The bastards set me up. The bulletproof vest saved his life, but only just so. Alexander fell out of his chair and onto the grass.

Tarkin immediately grabbed his nephew checking his pulse as the Courtiers began to panic. Tarkin noticed he was still alive, but he needed help.

"Get back to the shuttle," he barked as the Guards assisted him in taking the Emperor away.

*Gordon seemed speechless, he had no idea what had just happened. He looked around to see if he could find who shot the Emperor but he couldn't. He turned towards a guard.*
Gordon: "You! Get an ambulance! Now! He needs help right now!"
*The guard ran off.*

The Ambulance came in a few minutes, and they were able to get Alexander back to the shuttle, where medical equipment would assist him until they got back to Nevermore. He was in and out of conscious the whole way, however, but by the time they reached the Shuttle he had fallen into a coma.

*Gordon watched as the Emperor was taken away. He had no idea what had just happened and ordered the city to be placed on lockdown. He wanted this would be assassin found. He went back into the White House. He opened the door to his office were he saw O'Neil sitting in his chair.*
Gordon: "Thank God you're here O'Neil, The Emperor was just-"
O'Neil: "I know."
Gordon: *He stopped.* "You know?"
O'Neil: "Yep. And I know who shot him and why."
Gordon: "...How do you know all this?"
O'Neil: "Do I really have to explain?"
Gordon: "You?"
O'Neil: "I couldn't just sit back and watch as my county kissed the Emperor's ass, Max. I had to protect my people."
Gordon: "Do you know what you've done!? You might have just doomed us all! When the Emperor finds out it was you, you will-"
O'Neil: "He won't find out."
Gordon: "And what makes you think that?"
O'Neil: "You won't be able to tell him." *He held up his silenced pistol and shot Gordon in the head. He then called someone.* "Yes Steve? When you're done packing up I need you'r help again. It seems the President has just fallen on the job."

Nevermore

The Emperor was taken to Saint Anthony Imperial Clinic, where he was placed in intensive care. Even before they landed, a statement was released that Alexander had been shot by "terrorists in Washington" while in negotiations with President Gordon.

The vest prevented the bullet from entering his heart, but he lost a lot of blood. Forensics teams were able to figure out quite easily the bullet was SFEA designed. After three hours of intense surgery, doctors announced that Alexander would live, and while he was incapacitated, Tarkin, as Grand Vizier, served as Emperor Regent. He quickly placed the Nation on lockdown as they went into DEFCON 2

*O'Neil sat in the office when the assassin entered the room.*
O'Neil: "Ah, there you are Steve. You did good today."
Steve: "Thank you sir."
O'Neil: "You did your country a good favor. Now, help me move Mr. Gordon here to my car. His role in this is not yet over."
*The two men took Gordon's body away and secretly put the body in the car.*
Steve: "Now, for my payment?"
O'Neil: "Ah yes, I almost forgot about that. Once we get to the freezer, I'll have it for you."
*They got in the car and drove off. While in the car O'Neil called someone.*
O'Neil: "Hello there, may I speak to Mr. Bryan please? Thank you. Ah hello Mr. Bryan how are you? I'm good thank you. Is that hologram of President Gordon done? Nevermore

While the world hung on to see if the young Emperor would wake up, Tarkin has a statement released revealing that the bullet was of SFEA designed and accused the Communist Party of harbouring a conspiracy. He asked gave the Ultimatum that the government incriminate the culprits in 48 hours, or the Empire will send a force looking for them.

*O'Neil and Steve took the body into a large, private freezer. They stuffed Gordon's body away and hid it.*
Steve: "There. No one will find it. Now, about my pay?"
O'Neil: "You assassins are always about the pay. Well, it's on the shelf over there." *He pointed to a shelf with a black case on it. Steve went over to it and was about to open it when O'Neil shot him in the back of the head.*
O'Neil: "You're not that smart are you?" *He took the body and hid it next to Gordon's.*

The Next Day
*The TV camera's were facing the podium. Everyone wanted to know what happened. President Max Gordon stood in front of them.*
Gordon: "Comrades. Today I stand before you in the aftermath of a terrible incident. Yesterday, while discussing ways to end tensions between our two nations, the Emperor of the Imperial Republic of America was shot and wounded. This has lead to increased tensions between our two nations and an ultimatum delievered by the Empire. Today I would like to assure the Empire that East America had nothing to do with this attack. We suspect that it was done by a hardline Communist supporter who was opposed to the Empire itself. The FBI shall be looking into this case and we welcome the Imperials to help us find out who commited this terrible crime. For now, I urge that parties from both our nations remain calm as we try to figure this out. Thank you."

Imperial Republic of America

Despite the official Statement by the SFEA, many in the Empire were angry at their communist neighbours and there was a large group of Lords and Courtiers calling for revenge. The Grand Vizier did not desire conflict, but the hawks were already moving. He did, however, declare all SFEA ambassadors persona non grata and began mobilizing the military.

The Emperor had had woken up, but was still in no position to lead the nation, and was not informed of what was going on

O'Neil: "You did a good job Gordon. I'm glad you saw my side of the situation." *He pressed a button and the hologram of Gordon dissapeared.* "Now, let's go start a war."

West Bank of the Mississippi, 8 November 2083

The First Corps lined itself up along the Great Serpent, ready to repel any attack. The Imperial Air Corps had their destinations locked if it went to war; Cleveland, Chicago, and Cincinnati would burn.

Canada-SFEA Border

The Third Corps, much like the First, was ready to strike, they just needed the order.

Atlantic Ocean

The Imperial Atlantic Fleet was prepared to blockade the SFEA and engage if necessary. French Warships were also making their way to assist.

*America was on the brink of total destruction. Both sides were ready for all out war. They just needed one more spark to kick it off...and O'Neil lit that spark. He stood before TV cameras in the White House and was broadcasting a breaking news story.*
O'Neil: "Ladies and Gentlemen of East America and the world. Today I have terrible news for you, President Max Gordon has been found dead in his office. He was shot in the head. The assassin was killed in the office. We believe that the President was killed by the Imperials, for revenge against the attempted assassination of the Emperor. We shall have more details about this as it comes in."

Tarkin was furious as he read O'Neil's bulletin.

"That bastard. That's it, I'm giving the Order; move to DEFCON 1."

Canada-SFEA Border

Minister of War Caballus, Marshal of the Third Corps received the order. He was ordered to invade Vermont and Maine will the full might of his Corps, and crossed the border, the first army to invade East America. As his force moved, the Imperial Air Corps moved to hit any enemy defenses, particularly targeting New York City

West Bank of the Mississippi

The First Corps received their orders and moved as their Air Forces went to their targets. The 10th, 11th, and 100th Armies moved in to attack Illinois, the 12th, 110th, and 120th moving into Wisconsin, and the 13th and 130th moving to Tennessee.

Atlantic Ocean

Imperial Sea Planes were launched to hit D.C and New York whilst the warships moved to blockade the the two cities.

Montana

The Imperial Reserve Firs Corps invaded Montana. The State was isolated from the rest of the SFEA and had a large Imperial support base.

Washington DC, SFEA
*Evacuation of the government was in full force. All government members were evacuated to the Temporary Capital of Charleston, former West Virginia. Washington had not been considered to be in immedieate danger so an attack was not expected. Resistance was light but there was some, anti-Aircraft guns on the buildings fired at the incoming jets.*

Canada-SFEA border
*The Imperials were met with heavy resistance. The army along the northern border had dug themselves in and had set up several defenses.*

East Bank of the Mississippi
*The Mississippi had become the most fortified area in the country. Most of the army was stationed around this area. The soldiers were determined to push back the invasion. Even if some where not Communists, they didn't want to see their country taken over by the Imperials. The soldiers fought their hardest to halt the invasion...even though the force advancing at them was much larger then their own.*

New York City, SFEA
*The city was being evacuated. There was a pretty large defense force stationed in the city. AA guns had been set up on top of several buildings. Meanwhile the Air force had been scrambled to take on the Imperial and French Air force.*

Montana
*Montana was cut off from the rest of the country, making it easy for the Imperials to swarm it. The Montanans even somewhat supported the invasion. They had been very dissatisfied with the Communist government and had decided to willingly help the Imperials. The people rose up and began to attack government sites.*

Mississippi River, 1830, 9 November 2083

Despite the defenses of the East Americans, the Imperials had one advantage they did not possess; Mekhon. By now, all Imperial Mekon used a variant of the Titan Class, the most common being the Oceanid II Class. 4.7 metres in height and with a top speed of 35 KM/h, each were armed with dual assault rifles to take out standard enemy personnel and an anti-armour rocket launcher.

Moreover, Imperial Missile Launch Platforms, serving as artillery pieces, launched their rockets far from the battle and using guided missiles to strike known bases and enemy positions located by drones and other recon forces.

Canada-SFEA border

The Canadian Border was a harder egg to crack. The snow limited mobility and visibility, but as the Corps was more concentrated, allowed better use of their forces.

Montana

Sir Jack Corrigan, Commander of the 2nd Battalion, 10th Army, First Reserve Corps, entered Helena with his Battalion. The City was largely welcoming of the Imperial Forces, and when they heard that their former President's son was leading the forces, they allowed the Imperials to parade in. The Flag of the Empir Flew as the Communist governor was brought out in chains, the Anthem God Save Our Emperor playing

New York City

The Imperial and French fighters flew towards the New York City, intent on dropping their payloads. Also to be dropped were nerve gas bombs and sarin laced missiles. There were also bombs laced with liquid LSD and liquid cyanide to poison the NYC water supplies

Imperial America

The Air Corps was on high alert to engage enemy fighters coming into their airspace. The Empire was put on high alert and citizens were encourage to stay indoors in the early hours of the conflict.

Alexandria, Egypt

The Imperial 50th and 520th Armies moved towards the city long held by East America. French fighters flew to protect them.

Mississippi River
*The Imperial attack was going well. The East American forces were being pushed back from the river. Soon a new kind of reinforcement arrived. The RT-83, the most advanced Railgun tank in the East American army. The tanks helped to slow the advance, but were still no match for the Imperial mechs. Storm mechs arrived on the battlefield around the same time as the RT-83's.*

Derby, Vermont
*Intense fighting had occured at the border town of Derby. SFEA forces fought the Imperials intensely. They had to protect New England at all costs, if not New York would be open for a full scale land invasion. Rockets were launched at the oncoming Imperials as ground forces engaged them at the border.*

New York City
*In New York, East American forces were under the command of Captain Ivanov. Ivanov had earlier put out the order for all forces to have their gas masks on. East American jets engaged the Imperials and French above the skies of the city while ground forces continued firing AA guns and some prepared for ground forces.*

Charleston, SFEA
*The Politburo was now safely in the Temporary capital. They watched the war live from their bunker. They saw Montana fall and had got reports that Alexandria was under attack.*

Canada-Minnesota Border 2030 9 November 2083

The Imperial Second Reserve Corps had their orders to make a full on assault on the Minnesota. Only several hours after the initial assault on the Mississippi, was Third Reserve was to cut through and take take Wisconsin, assisting the First Corps in their assault on the Mississippi border States.

Mississippi River

The SFEA railguns were formidable, but the Imperial Mekhon were simply too swift. Soon, appearing in the Western Bank was the famed Mekhon Atlas. Hopefully intimidation alone would break the SFEA defenses.

Derby, Vermont

The fighting was nothing but difficult, but the Imperial adapted a new tactic; simply raze the city.

New York City

The Imperial and French forces focused little on the enemy aircraft, and instead inflicting as much damage as possible. By now the Navy had arrived and began firing rockets on Manhattan, landing Imperial Marines on Long Island.

Montana

With the State largely under Imperial control, the 10th Army stayed behind to occupy whilst the rest of the Reserve Corps moved towards the Mississippi

Japan

As fighting raged in America, the Empire's other Dominions were placed on high alert. The Imperial Air Corps was scrambled and the Second Reserve Corps was ready for any attack.

Budapest, Hungary

With the world on fire, right now, the biggest risk to the Kingdom of Hungary came from all sides. Felicia stands with Commander Eszterhazy and discusses what should be done.

"The Eurasian Federation is too much of a threat to be taken lightly. We need to show that we mean business. Move the troops to the border. I don't care that we only have 20 thousand men, we need to build up the fortifications at the border. Take advice from the Polish in World War two. Heavy fortifications can and will hold off men for long enough. Call in the architects and get some ideas for forts and what not. Including in the mountains. Érted?" Felicia says, angrily and nervously.

László nods her head and replies, simply, "Megértett." And walks out.

Moscow, Eurasia
*Makarov entered Orlov's office.*
Makarov: "Mr. President? Intelligence has shown us that the Hungarians are fortifying the Ukrainian border."
Orlov: *He looked up.* "Why? We haven't done anything to threaten Hungary recently."
Makarov: "It's probably due to our new alliance with the Americans. And the fact that Hungary has allied with the Imperials."
Orlov: "They think we want to start World War V in Europe? Alright, let's not give them a reason to do anything. Don't station troops on the border. However, I want you to increase drone survailence of Hungary and tell the Ukrainian army to just be on standby."

Changchun, Manchuria
*East American and Manchurian military leaders began drawing up plans for the East Asian theater. Japan was of course the main target, with the Imperials control of the country. However, plans were also drawn up to invade Korea, a country under Imperial influence, and Ezo, an independent country with the Emperor as the cermonial Emperor of the country. They ordered troops on standby and prepared the countries navy and airforce.*

*The East American navy engaged the Imperials and French around the city. Several squads of American troops and Storms met the Imperials on Long Island and engaged them while the Airforce continued to attack the enemy.*

Mississippi River
*With the appearence of the Imperial mechs, and the little effects of the rail guns, troops began to fall back from the battle. The mechs were too much.*

Mississippi River 0100 10 November

Seeing the enemy break formation and beginning to fall back, the Grand Vizier ordered the push across. He planned to take Chicago by next week and secure the border states for leverage. The Third reserve had also begun their assault on Wisconsin, with the First Reserves moving to support.

New York City

The battles raged on, the Imperial Air Corps simply attempting to deal damage and dropping their nerve gas and other biological terrors. The Battle on Long Island saw Imperial Marines bogged down in their attack.

Cuba

Marshal Antonio de Cervantes, the Count of Buenos Aires, received his orders. The Fourth Reserve Corps, stationed in the Caribbean, were to launch a joint attack on Florida with a detachment of the Imperial Marines and the Imperial Navy with the 40th and 41st Reserves and the 400th Reserves.

Northern Korea 12 November
*The order was given. Soon, the combined Manchurian and East American armies moved into Korea. There plan was to get to Pyongyang to hopefully force the Imperials to send support to their Korean allies. The attack on Korea came as a surprise to the country, they believed that Japan would be attacked, not Korea. This surprise gave the Manchurian's and East Americans an advantage.*

New York City
*It seemed that the Americans were for the moment able to halt the advance through Long Island. They tried to keep it that way. If New York fell, the moral of the country would fall with it.*

Mississippi River
*American troops had continued to fall back. Wisconsin and Minnesota were mostly lost now. The main objective was to protect Chicago and halt all Imperial movements into the country, which was proving to be much harder then thought. The Imperials continued their advance into the country, nothing seemed to slow them down.*

Florida
*Because of troop deployment in other parts of the country, Florida was left mostly open for attack. There were some defenses, but none that could hold off an invasion from Cuba for very long.*

Tombigbee River Mississippi and Tennessee, 1340 12 November

The Imperial forces had largely subjugated the former State of Mississippi as most of the SFEA forces concentrated inn Chicago. Over the River, they constructed defenses, not wishing to move farther or to lose the ground they had gained. Some of the population opposed the invasion, but others supported the coming Imperials. Anti-Communist propaganda was distributed as the Imperials made it clear that their goal was to restore the true government of East America.

Chicago

The 10th, 11th, 120th, and 130th Armies focused their power on assaulting Chicago as reinforcements from Canada arrived to support their assault. The Imperial Air Corps also gave support.

Florida

The Imperial Marines and the Reserve Armies had captured Miami with little opposition and moved north to take Tampa

New York

The Air Corps continued its raids over New York City as the Imperial armies began to withdraw from Long Island

Korea

When news of the American invasion of Korea reached Japan, the Imperial Air Corps was dispatched to aid in the defense of the Republic. Imperial Marines stationed also moved north to combat the Manchurians.

Charleston, SFEA
*The Politburo had met once again. The situation for the country looked grim. Much of the country was now occupied and only the Northeast and parts of the Midwest were showing resistance to the invasion.*
Politburo member: "I say it is time to surrender. If we surrender now, perhaps we can spare our lives and the country will be saved from more disaster."
O'Neil: "That is not an option. We must destroy the Empire, here and now."
Politburo Member: "God damn it Sam! We've lost! Soon the Empire will be here in Charleston and we will all be doomed! Let's just end it now and save the country!"
O'Neil: "We can still push them back! We just have to wait longer! We will have our Stalingrad soon and we will turn the tables! I'm sure of it!"
Politburo member: "You're delusional Sam! We all agree, surrender is the best choice right now."
O'Neil: "You would send our country to the Imperials! You would all damn this country! Well gentlemen, I have no other option but to have you arrested for treason! Guards! Take them!"
*Federal agents came out and took the rest of the Politburo away.*

Chicago
*Most of the American army was now centered around Chicago. They could not allow Chicago to fall. They began to dig in and got ready for what they hoped would be a long battle.*

New York City
*With the Imperials retreating, Captain Ivanov ordered his men to continue the fight and chase the enemy.*

Korea
*Now faced with the Imperials, the Americans and Manchurian's began to slow down a bit. They were still far out from Pyongyang.*

Chicago

The Third Reserve, First Reserve, and the 10th, 11th, 120th, and 130th Armies focused their energies on Chicago. If the Windy City fell, then it would be likely that the SFEA would move to negotiate a peace.

Tombigbee River Mississippi and Tennessee

The rest of the First Corps established their defenses and planned to hold off against any SFEA attacks.

Florida

Imperial attacks continued, and once Tampa was taken, the Imperials hunkered down and planned for a counterattack

Two Years later: 2085

For the next two years, this was the situation in America. Imperial set up their defenses in taken States whilst continuing to starve Chicago out. Raids continued against New York every few months to force the Communists to negotiate, but to no avail.

In late 2084, the British Commonwealth, the Kingdom of Greece, the Imperial Republic of America, the Empire of the French, the Republic of Germany, the Kingdom of Mali, the Kingdom of Hungary, the Kingdom of Romania-Moldova, the Kingdom of Persia, the Kingdom of Sweden, the Republic of Turkey, and the Republic of Korea met in Nevermore and signed what was known as the Pact of Steel. The Pact strengthened the economic bloc set up by Emperor Lucius in the previous decade and now drew the states into a military alliance to prevent the EF and other Communist states from entering the American conflict, hopefully preventing a world war.

However, tensions were growing between Persia and Iraq, and there was a fear war would breakout.

In America, Emperor Alexander recovered from his failed assassination, but was left a different man. Increasingly paranoid, Nevermore was placed in virtual lockdown as the Imperial Guard had almost total control in the Capital. Most of the Empire was unaffected by the war, but the Nobility were becoming increasingly upset at Alexander's goal of toppling the SFEA and replacing it with a Republican government, wishing to take it for themselves

Warsaw, Poland
*The signing of the Pact of Steel scared the Communist and non-Communist countries around the world alike. An alliance of Imperialist powers including the aggressor of the last war that had killed millions of innocents. This was too much. President Orlov then called for the leaders of the Communist countries around the world to meet in Warsaw so that they may counter what they saw as a threat to the entire world. Among the group was the leaders of Poland, Czechoslovakia, Finland, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Armenia, Albania, Nepal, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Azerbaijan, Manchuria, and a represenative from East America. Eventually, the nations at the meeting decided that they would ally together, to promote the Communist ideal, and to protect the world from Imperials, Fascism, Nazism, and genocide. Thus, the Treaty of Warsaw was signed, creating the International Communist Alliance, which earned the name "The New Warsaw Pact". *

Baghdad, Iraq
*President Darzi and his advisers were going over the situation around the world. America was at war, the Communists and the Imperialists were butting heads, and Persia was threatening Iraq and the Darzi administration. His advisers all agreed, a military assault on Persia was necessary to complete Iraq's goal, a reformed United Arab Republics under the control of the Neo-Ba'athists. A plan for invasion was drawn up.*

East America
*Much of the west and South of the country was in Imperial control. It seemed that all was lost in the country. Chicago was the last bastion of hope for O'Neil and his supporters. If Chicago could be won, they may be able to turn the tide of the war in their favor.*
