May 2072

In the aftermath of what became known as the Hungarian Wars of Aggression, the world has seen much change because of the Treaty of Nevermore. The United States of Asia have been asserting their dominance in East Asia, whilst borders changes in Europe have seen the rise of the new German state and the increasingly powerful Eurasian Federation, however, the EF is still suffering from decades of war and the Slavic Genocide, claiming close to 90% of the Russian Slavic population.

The French Empire, meanwhile, has continued its occupations of Slovenia and Croatia, while their Imperial American allies have occupied Germany, West Hungary, Greece, and Turkey. However, the Southern Slavic States, suffering the near extinction of their people in the war, have begun pleading for the formation of a new All Slavic State.

*After his escape from Cambodia, Ramirez had become mentally unstable. The sights he saw had ruined him. Shortly after his return from Cambodia, Ramirez resigned as President. Now his Vice President, Max Gordon was the President of the country. Gordon was a hardline communist and had begun implimenting new laws and regulations in the country. The government was now fully run by communists. Now it was only a matter of time before Gordon and the Communists took full control of the country.*

Prince Tarkin, now the Grand Vizier after the recent death of de Ville, and the duc d'Orleans arrived at the designated spot. The duc d'Orleans wished to continue the French occupations of Slovenia and Croatia, and hoped to incorporate Croatia into the French Empire at some point, whilst Tarkin wanted to maintain the balance of power in Europe.

Kowalski: "Good day gentlemen. Now, I'm sure you know why you're all here. We must discuss the future of Eastern Europe. We have heard that many in the Balkans have been calling for the recreation of Yugoslavia. While we support the Slav's wishes for unity, there is a problem standing in our way."
Orlov: "Yes, the continued occupation of Croatia and Slovenia by France. Now we understand that this is just war gains and that France rightfully liberated these territories. However, they fall into the Yugoslav area and we where wondering if France would be willing to hand control of those area's over to NATO and the Eurasian Federation so that we may oversee the creation of a Yugoslav state. We promise that Yugoslavia would in no way try to take lands from Italy or Greece and would promote democracy in a troubled region."

Orlov: "While they have lost many in this genocide, it is still their homeland and there are still Slavs living there. A repopulation effort shall be going on there soon to try and bring a number of Slavs back. Besides, this is a chance to mix up the populations so that another Yugoslav civil war doesn't happen and we could try to make a more united South Slavic race. Also, I don't think France needs to expand any more then it already has. We just got rid of one Empire, we don't want another to take over the entire continent."

Tarkin thought about it. Within a year, no doubt, Yugoslavia would be reformed, and he knew Orlov was a Communist. Lucius made a mistake here. The French want Illyria, and Yugoslavia will only fuel the coming freeze.

The Emperor was in his office when his Secretary rushed in.

"Your Imperial Majesty, please excuse this interruption, but what appears to be a bomb went off in the District of Columbia today."

The Emperor lifted his head from his work.

Washington DC, FEA
*2 months after the bombing of the Capitol Building, it was found that almost all of the congressmen in Congress at the time of the explosion had died. Only a few had survived. An investigation had been set up by the FBI to figure out who was responsible for the attacks and today, President Gordon was going to reveal to the world what the investigation had discovered. The President now stood in front of reporters and TV crew as he announced the findings.*
Gordon: "Ladies and Gentlemen of East America. Today I come to you with the results of the investigation of the Capitol Building bombing. Through weeks of research, we have come to the conclusion that the bombing was performed by a militant arm of the Social Democrat party of the Federation of East America."
*With this there was a huge gasp in audience as cameras flashed and people began talking. Gordon motioned for silence.*
Gordon: "With this finding, myself and other top government officials have agreed, the Social Democrat party must be banned from our country and it's members rounded up and arrested for this treason against our great country. They are all traitors. We have found that many in the party supported the bombing of Congress so that they could regain power in the country. I ask for the country to remain calm as the government and police work to bring the evil doers to justice. We shall return to you as soon as we have more information and as soon as this menace has been dealt with."
*He left the podium as the audience resumed talking. When he was alone, Gordon smiled to himself.*
Gordon: "All according to plan."

"It's official; Democracy has failed, and my Father was right."

This time he did laugh. He turned to Tarkin

East America
*After the revelation of the Social Democrats involvement in the bombing, things began to go bad in the country. Acts of violence against Social Democrats increased. After these attacks became public, the Social Democrats fought back. They claimed they had nothing to do with the bombing and that the government had staged the bombing. The country became divided. Communists and Social Democrats began to violently attack each other in all parts of the country. The Purge of the Social Democrats from government only made things even worse. Life in East America was going to hell.*
*Meanwhile in Cleveland, the Corrigan family began to pack their belongings. Both of the former Presidents families were preparing to leave the country. They had a feeling they would be targeted by Hardline Communists. They planned to seek temporary asylum in another country. They had Three countries in mind, The Empire, Ecuador, and Eurasia.*

Cleveland, FEA
*The Corrigan family received a message from the Empire that they would help them escape. On a normal Cleveland night, the family dressed casually and remained outside of the public eye. They drove separate cars to the ferry. Once they arrived, they were meet by Imperial agents who helped sneak them across the border into Canada. Once they crossed the border, the family relaxed. Ryan Corrigan sat down and watched the night sky. His son Nicolas came out and sat by him.*
Ryan: "Kleem was right..."
Nicolas: "Huh?"
Ryan: "Emperor Napoleon, he was right...democracy is doomed to fail."
Nicolas: "You're really going to believe that?"
Ryan: "Look at us son. We're on our way to asylum in the Empire. A dictator is rising to power in our country. Democracy has failed again. I just wish I hadn't been alive to see it happen."
*For the rest of the ride they sat quiet. No one wanted to talk until they reached Canada.*

Palatio Imperatores, Nevermore

The two former Presidents Corrigan are brought before the Emperor in his Throne room as the Imperial Court see the disintegration of the FEA before their eyes. To many of them, the thought that the FEA could fall to civil war was insane. Many of the Nobles recalled their own Civil War, and it brought back awful memories to those who fought in the conflict, or who had relatives die in it. Eventually, the 44 year old Monarch rose from his ebony Throne, and chose not to address the Presidential Family in Latin, the typical language of the Court.

"Our dear Friends, to see you here before us, brings us to tears. You shall enjoy not only Asylum here in the Empire with your Families, but shall enjoy a place of respect in our humble Court."

Ryan: "We are humbled your highness and we thank you for the granting of asylum to our family in these dark days. We accept the position you have granted us. We just ask of one thing, you help us do whatever is possible to make sure that this dictatorship in our former country is eventually destroyed."
Nicolas: "We don't ask for war between the two Americas, we just ask that the Empire do it's best to not become friendly with such evil dictatorships and help support the return of Democracy in our once great nation."

The Emperor smiled.

"We shall never be a Friend to the monster of Communism and Populism."

Lucius returned to his Throne.

"Parliament has given the Crown an Act to sign, and sign it we shall. The border with the FEA will become closed until further notice, our embassies will be closed to them, and their ambassadors will be thrown out. Trade will cease."

With the whiff of his quill, it is done, the Act becomes law.
