"Arkadiy Votyakov, outspoken radical and outright danger to our society. This man and many others like him have been active in attempting to brainwash public opinion against the established system of Democratic Socialism. Calling for an end 'to the tyrannically strict control of the nation under the Siberian People's Union.' This man, has proven himself to be an able propagandist with his calls for our downfall. Using the current election process as ammunition, saying that we should allow more parties to operate within the system. This man needs to be silenced, he poses a serious threat to the political system and the society. We cannot allow this nation to fall again into disorder! We must make these upstarts cease their dribble!"
Igor Tytov, Duma Seat No.96 of the Sakha SSR, "Address to the Yukutskian Duma on Domestic Security Threats, August Session"
As thunderheads brewed over the busy streets of Yakutsk, political currents silently feuded and fought. The Siberian Peoples' Union Party(SPUP) had established a strict party application process that practically prevented political parties from emerging that were not affilated with either them or the The Yukutskian Reformed Communist Party(YRKP) several monthes ago in the name of preserving order and keeping radicals out of politics. Leaving a fast growing minority of propenents of the Center and Right on the political spectrum totally unrepresented in the Yukutskian Duma and Politburo. Leading to laws being passed that members of those groups loathe without even being able to utter a legal protest in any other form than a street protest against that law. Of which the government would ignore and muffle. However, as the growing calls for reform strengthen. So does the silent backlash of the established order.
The unseen wheels of a supposedly democratic nation's political system began to once more chern to their age old song, releasing the dogs of silent repression into the unsuspecting masses. The art of making people disappear in this section of the world was one aged to prefection by the system of oppression founded nearly a milenna ago that has seen many different forms and names.
"Hello folks and welcome back to YSNP 9, your local program for news and weather reports. If you remember from our last report, just yesterday. We mentioned the recent surge in missing persons reports filed by militsiya units across the country. This being bad regardless of the circumstance. However, seeing as how a majority of these recent reports have been filed for outspoken supporters of the recent calls for a repeal of the Secure Party Application Reform of 2012. Conspiracy Theories have arisen that this recent surge in abductions has been orchestrated by the Siberian Peoples' Union majority-government. A claim the SPUP has strongly denied.
'I had just left my friend Foma's house the night before, it had just been an average night with a friend. Everything was normal, we had made plans for the next day and other such things. But when I returned the next morning, a saw that his front door was wide open. I went in, concerned for my friend, to find that he was nowhere to be found and that his had house had been ransacked. Everything had been thrown on the floor, furniture had been tipped over, and his bed had been flipped over. So I did what any other person would do, I called the militsiya. It took them half an hour to get there, and even further, they seemed totally unconcerned. I was told to go home and that they would try their best to look for my friend. That was ten days ago and they haven't found a single thing.'
That was Igor Lykov, friend of the missing Foma Makarov. What you just heard is a frequent account of what has been happening all over the nation these past few days. Friends go missing in the night, families, co-workers, and even foreign nationials in some cases. However, with the sheer number of reports the militsiya have been spread threadbare in their coverage. Leaving many people believeing that the indifference of the militsiya is a sign of their participation in the abductions! Can you believe it, will that is something I can't really comment on.
Also, on a side note. Several websites across the nation concerning the supporters of the Repeal the Party Reform Act have been reportedly shutdown by viral activity. Again leading to conspiracy theories.
With conspiracy brewing and resentment growing over the lack of militsiya cooperation and the increasingly unresponcesive government. Supporters of the Repeal Movement began to fear for their lives as more and more of their ranks were drained over night by an unknown enemy. Foreign nationals disappeared, with inquiries from their homeland meeting walls of red tape and an uncooperative police force. Pleas were made to foreign courts to investigate this matter. Many of the dissentients began to call this "the great purge of society's unwanted voices". Votyakov, mentioned in the Duma. Was one of the first to vanish and thus would be the first example of the consquence of social dissent. The target of this purge was joked, "to be anyone who is not red in ideology and heart".
