Where Do They Go? (MT/Open)

Postby The Yukutskian SSR » Sun Aug 05, 2012 12:34 pm

"Arkadiy Votyakov, outspoken radical and outright danger to our society. This man and many others like him have been active in attempting to brainwash public opinion against the established system of Democratic Socialism. Calling for an end 'to the tyrannically strict control of the nation under the Siberian People's Union.' This man, has proven himself to be an able propagandist with his calls for our downfall. Using the current election process as ammunition, saying that we should allow more parties to operate within the system. This man needs to be silenced, he poses a serious threat to the political system and the society. We cannot allow this nation to fall again into disorder! We must make these upstarts cease their dribble!"
Igor Tytov, Duma Seat No.96 of the Sakha SSR, "Address to the Yukutskian Duma on Domestic Security Threats, August Session"

As thunderheads brewed over the busy streets of Yakutsk, political currents silently feuded and fought. The Siberian Peoples' Union Party(SPUP) had established a strict party application process that practically prevented political parties from emerging that were not affilated with either them or the The Yukutskian Reformed Communist Party(YRKP) several monthes ago in the name of preserving order and keeping radicals out of politics. Leaving a fast growing minority of propenents of the Center and Right on the political spectrum totally unrepresented in the Yukutskian Duma and Politburo. Leading to laws being passed that members of those groups loathe without even being able to utter a legal protest in any other form than a street protest against that law. Of which the government would ignore and muffle. However, as the growing calls for reform strengthen. So does the silent backlash of the established order.

The unseen wheels of a supposedly democratic nation's political system began to once more chern to their age old song, releasing the dogs of silent repression into the unsuspecting masses. The art of making people disappear in this section of the world was one aged to prefection by the system of oppression founded nearly a milenna ago that has seen many different forms and names.

"Hello folks and welcome back to YSNP 9, your local program for news and weather reports. If you remember from our last report, just yesterday. We mentioned the recent surge in missing persons reports filed by militsiya units across the country. This being bad regardless of the circumstance. However, seeing as how a majority of these recent reports have been filed for outspoken supporters of the recent calls for a repeal of the Secure Party Application Reform of 2012. Conspiracy Theories have arisen that this recent surge in abductions has been orchestrated by the Siberian Peoples' Union majority-government. A claim the SPUP has strongly denied.

'I had just left my friend Foma's house the night before, it had just been an average night with a friend. Everything was normal, we had made plans for the next day and other such things. But when I returned the next morning, a saw that his front door was wide open. I went in, concerned for my friend, to find that he was nowhere to be found and that his had house had been ransacked. Everything had been thrown on the floor, furniture had been tipped over, and his bed had been flipped over. So I did what any other person would do, I called the militsiya. It took them half an hour to get there, and even further, they seemed totally unconcerned. I was told to go home and that they would try their best to look for my friend. That was ten days ago and they haven't found a single thing.'

That was Igor Lykov, friend of the missing Foma Makarov. What you just heard is a frequent account of what has been happening all over the nation these past few days. Friends go missing in the night, families, co-workers, and even foreign nationials in some cases. However, with the sheer number of reports the militsiya have been spread threadbare in their coverage. Leaving many people believeing that the indifference of the militsiya is a sign of their participation in the abductions! Can you believe it, will that is something I can't really comment on.

Also, on a side note. Several websites across the nation concerning the supporters of the Repeal the Party Reform Act have been reportedly shutdown by viral activity. Again leading to conspiracy theories.

With conspiracy brewing and resentment growing over the lack of militsiya cooperation and the increasingly unresponcesive government. Supporters of the Repeal Movement began to fear for their lives as more and more of their ranks were drained over night by an unknown enemy. Foreign nationals disappeared, with inquiries from their homeland meeting walls of red tape and an uncooperative police force. Pleas were made to foreign courts to investigate this matter. Many of the dissentients began to call this "the great purge of society's unwanted voices". Votyakov, mentioned in the Duma. Was one of the first to vanish and thus would be the first example of the consquence of social dissent. The target of this purge was joked, "to be anyone who is not red in ideology and heart".

"As you can see, just down this street is what looks like a barricade. That's right, a barricade on Petrovskaya Square right in the centre of Yakutsk. All entrances to and from the Square have been blocked off by makeshift barricades ranging from purposely parked cars to piles of litter and trash. Men can be seen occasionally patrolling these barriers who appear to be weilding firearms. Photos taken from news helicopter around the city make it seem that the Square has been made into a camp of protesters.

Militsiya units have been dispatched to the area but all attempts by Militsiya negotiators to coax the occupants out of the Square have resulted in the occupants yelling 'not until we are safe shall we leave' back at the negotiators. This has been presumably organized by the Repeal Movement that has been targetted by a record number of abductions the past few days, of which they now offically blame on 'Government agents'. Government officals have yet to offer a comment on this but it seems that the city militsiya may be getting ready to storm the square and forcefully dismantle the camp set up by the occupants. Whether or not this will turn bloody is unknown, but tensions are certainly high here as the occupants of Petrovskaya Square refuse to leave their camp and Militsiya units maintain a blockade on the Square.

Also in recent news, members of the Repeal Movement have reportedly organized their own underground political party as the Repeal Movement 's offical website has hinted at such a prospect. Under the Secure Party Appilcation Act of 2012, this party is also unable to offically register and poll due to their lack of affilation with a mainstream party. This move however, has made their goals of 'ease of representation' and 'a more politically just system' clear. But it seems that the SPUP-majority government is not in a hurry to anwser their calls for more political representation"

To: General Secretary Zolotarev

The people of Lokhavia are very concerned about what is happening in The Yukutskian SSR.
We were given the permission to offer you help for your efforts to restore order.
Also the people and the Communist Party of Lokhavia have decided to offer you help in form of a group of specialists of our Milicia. These people are specialised in locating missing people. This maybe could help to calm the protesters and ease the tension and to help reducing the upcoming of absolutely overcast conspiracy theories.

Please give us answer, if the people of the Yukutskian SSR are willing to accept the help offered.

Kindest Regards

OOC: Placeholder. Have not decided at this time how extensively to get involved, and am posting via smartphone. I will be aiding the center- and right-wing dissenters, however. That much is certain. IC post will be edited here, but at most it will be a condemnation of the sitting government and demand for impartial international observers, to start.

IC Edit:

News of the Yukutskian Soviet Socialist Republic's oppression of its citizens had percolated across various portions of the Defense Intelligence Agency's Greater Dienstad department for some time. The fact that little had been done by the Armed Republic to destabilize the de facto Yukutskian socialist dictatorship, thus far, was not due to apathy. There was simply always another crisis popping up, drawing away resources that would have been committed to actions inteded to replace what was, for all intents and purposes, a one-party government, with a proper democracy.

However, once foreign nationals within the Yukutskian SSR began disappearing, the Salzland government decided that the period of indulgence for the Yukutskians was at an end. According to the Foreign Relation Ministry's records, at least one person who had disappeared in the Yukutskian SSR, apprently without a trace and apparently without any need for a vigorous investigation by the Yukutskian police force, was rumored to be a Salzland national. Even a fool would be able to read between the lines and connect those disappearances (and the accompanying governmental obstructionism and official apathy) to the widely-publicized disappearances of anti-communist activists, all of which were par for the course in any dictatorship worth its salt. The only things missing, thus far, were widely publicized show trials for so-called "enemies of the state."

Rather than blithely sailing into Greater Dienstad and starting a war, the Salzland government elected to pursue a 'soft power' strategy, at least to start. Behind the scenes, diplomats would begin traveling to various Dienstadi nations, looking to secure support in the event that a direct military solution proved necessary. Low-key mobilizations of rapid response naval and ground forces would also begin, though for the time being the stated reason would simply be that there were upcoming training exercises that those personnel would be participating in.

In the mean time, the Foreign Relations Ministry drafted and issued a statement regarding the ongoing Yukutskian situation

Official Statement

We have recently received unsettling reports regarding developing instabilities inside the Yukutskian Soviet Socialist Republic. These reports include, but are not limited to, the mass abduction of dissidents and foreign nationals, as well as a potential uprising by Yukutskian civilians against the current Yukutskian regime. We feel that these actions indicate that the current Yukutskian regime is not fit to govern, and should be removed.

Every citizen, of every state, should be free from the fear of being abducted or murdered by their government solely on the basis of possessing a certain social, economic or political viewpoint. The fact that dissidents and foreign nationals have been deliberately targeted within the Yukutskian SSR indicates that the Yukutskian regime clearly does not share this view. Note that, while at this time we are not prepared to offer evidence explicitly implicating the Yukutskian regime in these acts, even official state Yukutskian news sources have provided sufficient reports establishing a clear, organized campaign aimed exclusively at foreign nationals and Yukutskian dissidents. Given the targeting of those individuals who would be "enemies of the state," and the official indifference of the Yukutskian regime, we feel that the situation clearly speaks for itself.

As a result, the government of the Armed Republic will first vehemently condemn the sitting Yukutskian regime, for what gives every appearance of being a clear-cut pattern of human rights abuses and outright crimes against humanity. Any rulers which maintain their control through fear and abuse of the people are rulers who are unfit to govern. We hereby call for the Yukutskian regime to step down, in anticipation of open elections, to be verified as free and fair by impartial international monitors.

Second, the government of the Armed Republic demands that impartial international observers be permitted into the Yukutskian Soviet Socialist Republic. These observers will be permitted to freely inspect the Yukutskian SSR. They will be permitted to meet with whomever they wish, whenever they wish, without any monitoring or obstruction from the Yukutskian regime. They will be permitted free access to any prison, detention facility, or other structure or location, natural or artificial in nature, used to detain prisoners, and permitted to interview any prisoner or staff member they so choose on any topic they choose. They will also be permitted unrestricted document access for any and all documents related to missing, imprisoned or deceased individuals. Noting the reports of an organized demonstration in or around Petrovskaya Square, international observers must also be granted immediate and unrestricted access, in order to deter any opportunity for the Yukutskian state to conduct crimes against humanity.

These requirements are non-negotiable. We await the reply of the Yukutskian regime.

****************

OOC Edit: Replaced 'Yakutskian' with 'Yukutskian.' That was a whoopsie

To whom it may concern,

The Republic and Commonwealth shares many of the concerns expressed by our Salzlander friends in their message. The human rights record of the Yukutsian SSR leaves much to be desired, and the current events transpiring within the nation are cause for great concern.

Pursuant to the Quigley Doctrine, we must strongly condemn the ruling Yukutsian regime for its apparent crackdown on democratic activists. The fact that the Yukutsian SSR is attempting to prevent democratic change that would leader to greater freedom is deplorable.

We would therefore like to reinforce the demands of our Salzlander friends. Their demands must be met, or there shall be serious consequences.

The tyrannical policies of the Yukutsian regime cannot, and shall not, be permitted to continue.

"Hello, and welcome back to YSNP 9, your local news and weather report program. We want to begin today's broadcast my once again bringing up the abduction crisis that has been rocking the nation as a startling new development has taken place in regards to the matter. The nation of Salzland, a rather large Democratic nation in the Nova region has demanded that the SPUP-majority government of our nation step down. Claiming that the Siberian People's Union Party has been the using fear and repression to rule the Yukutskian Soviet Socialist Republic and that the recent surge in abductions has been orchestrated by the hands of the mentioned party.

In an open statement aimed at the Foreign Affairs Bureau of the Yukutskian Soviet Socialist Republic, Salzlandi officals demanded that the Siberian People's Union Party step down and organize an open election to be monitered by internationial oberservers. Also in that demand was a second clause that demanded that internationial oberservers be premitted to inspect the justice and penal system of the Yukutskian Soviet Socialist Republic in what has been assumed by many independent oberservers as an attempt to discover whether or not the Siberian People's Union Party has really been secretly arresting individuals for political dissent.

Premier Zakhar Strukov has not yet released a statement on the matter but political specialists from the Maria Fyodrova Political Sciences and Studies College, a subdivision of the Yakut State University, say that the Yukutskian Federal Duma and Politburo is more than likely scrambling to prepare a political responce as General Secretary Zolotarev has be reported to be holding emergency meetings with both the institutions."

Yukutskian Federal Duma Building, 4:19 PM, Emergency Session A21

The floor of the Duma was a mess. Politicans from across the nation were rushing to and fro, there was a moderately loud drone as ideas for a responce and measures of defense were exchanged openly between individual representatives. This went on for some twenty minutes until General Secretary Zolotarev quickly walked up to the speaker podium at the northern end of the Duma Floor. The crowd of ministers and representatives quickly quieted down as the General Secretary made his opening calls for silence.

"Comrade representatives of the Federal Duma and Politburo;

Today, as you all know. The Armed Republic of Salzland made a statement declaring that our current government is a threat to our people and demanded that the Siberian People's Union Party step down from power and open an internationially monitered election to replace us. They also made demands of us, to open our justice and penal systems to scurtiny by internationial moniters. Claiming that we are the cause of the recent 'surge in abductions' of which we are guilty. It is our goal now, to organize a strong political defense and possibly a military defense should they force this issue.

I now charge you all, as acting General Secretary of the Yukutskian Government, with the task of assisting Foreign Relations Commissar Mandrik in preparing a responce to the nation of Salzland and any other nations backing their demands. They have no proof, and we must center our defense on that. We must make them appear as aggressors acting on false charges! We must remember to watch what we say and write, do not give yourselves away to some internet blogger because you uttered the wrong statement. That is all comrades.

For Unity and Socialism we strive and for all we serve."

Offical Communique to the Foreign Agency of Salzland

To the legislators and ministers of the Salzlandi Government;

My government has instructed me to relay the information that your claims of their abuse of human rights and their involvement in the recent increase in abductions within our nation are totally baseless and false. And to demand the Siberian People's Union Party's resignation from power on those claims adds further to the ridiculousness of your claims. There has been no proof of my government's involvement in the abduction of private citizens and there will never be any as this is not the case and not what our government does to its subjects.

Your wild claims could easily be pointed at organized criminal activity or political terrorist groups, and furthermore. The internal affairs of my nation are exactly what they are, internal. We are handling this crisis the best we can and our militsiya forces are trying their hardest to search for all these missing persons, to demand a change of government on ridiculous and wild claims without solid proof is as terrible or worse than what you claim my government is currently doing to its citizens.

My government has thereby refused your demands on the basis of your lack proof in the matter of their involvement of the abduction of private citizens and foreign nationals and the utter absurdness of your claims. My government is not the one to be scurtinized as they have done nothing, they are not the ones demanding a governmental change on a false basis of human rightes abuse without proof of any kind

Sincerly, Foreign Relations Commissar of the Yukutskian Soviet Socialist Republic Stepan Mandrik

Dear Sir;

My government has instructed me to respectfully refuse your offer for assistance in crubbing the recent surge in abductions. General Secretary Zolotarev has informed me personally of his pleasure of here your government's offer but this is a crisis we must handle on our own. Should it spiral out of hand, we will request your government's assistance.

My government has heard many great things about your nation and is greatful for your offer, but still. They have informed me to decline your offer, may you and your nation prosper and your people be happy Sir General Secretary of Lokhavian Communist Party.

An official message from the
United Republic of Virana
Department Foreign Affairs

Recipient: Stepan Mandrik, Foreign Relations Commissar of the Yukutskian Soviet Socialist Republic
Subject: Abduction Crisis

Sender: Lana Basara, United Republic Secretary of State
Encryption: Military - Level 2

To Mr. Mandrik,

The United Republic of Virana would like to express a significant level of concern for the people of the Yukutskian Soviet Socialist Republic. The recent abductions have made your nation an unsafe place to live, and the people of the United Republic bestow their best wishes upon the individuals abducted in addition to their families, friends, and loved ones, and encourage them to do their best to endure the ongoing crisis.

Claims of these abductions being carried out by Yukutskian government officials have been publicized by Yukuskian media outlets. In order to facilitate a smooth and decisive end to the abductions, the United Republic requests that your nation comply with the demands of the Armed Republic of Salzland. These demands are not intended to dismantle the Yukutskian regime, but rather to validate the Yukutskian claims that these abductions are being conducted by political terrorists rather than by the government on its own people. Currently the United Republic feels that the abductions may be an act by the ruling Siberian Peoples' Union Party to prevent opposition leaders from gaining a foothold in the Yukutskian Duma and Politburo. This is because a number of the reports filed have reportedly been for individuals who oppose the Secure Party Application Reform of 2012, which has made the growth of a legal opposition political party extremely difficult. The fact that many citizens of your nation have become part of this repeal movement is reason for potential concern.

The United Republic also feels that the current election process may be corrupt, and demands that foreign observers be allowed to oversee the election process in order to ensure a democratic transition between leading administrations. As such, the observers must be able to ensure the Militsiya is doing its best to prevent the abductions, perform a review of the YSSR's penal system to ensure appropriate rights are provided to those convicted, and oversee any election process to prevent corruption.

We hope you consider.

The city of Cherno sat on a large hill overlooking the valley Kiev, its skyscrapers climbing for the sky high into the air. Such buildings were common in the 2,00 0 year old city. But nevertheless there was one more unique quality that Cherno displayed that was above all else, at least in the mind of the Politburo. The city of Cherno had been the capitol of Chernograd for 5,000 years, maybe even further back. It was in this city that many decisions were made, some turned out to be great, while others not so much.

So in this city on a quiet Sunday Afternoon the General Secretary sat in his office, which was draped with crimson flags of the Chernian Republic all around, while he himself sat in a silk leather chair with an oak desk that could be traced back to the 18th century. He wore a pristine black suit with baby blue gators. He was the apex of Chernian Fashion, the General Secretary himself, a man by the name of Igor Bubalev was a man with a slight build but a slender frame. He is 34 but has two kids already. He was idolized around the Republic for his budding charisma and his political savvy.

Suddenly, his aide entered the room. The aide; Kazmir Vasilevich paced into the room and politely set a dossier firmly on the desk of the General Secretary. Before Igor could even speak his aide began,"Sir, the Yukustkian Soviet Socialist Republic may have certain "redundancies" in their government. As a result a small number of powerful nations have responded not to nicely. Most are threatening economic and military action if the Yukustkian SSR does not meet these demands. What makes this better is the fact that the Yukustkians do not look like they will meet these terms. As a result I advise you, General Secretary to wait until Yukustk and its people are weak. Then we strike!"

Kazmir nodded with a foolish grin on his face and then left the room, his enthusiasm permeated from his being and the General Secretary could not help but smile.

The General Secretary smiled, he had never been met with such enthusiasm when it came to foreign politics. But Kazmir certainly passed most in that category."Very well then, when the this SSR is weak, we will strike.

It is with great disappointment that word has reached my office today of the incidents taking place within the nation of Yukutsian SSR. It is with equally great displeasure that i am forced to inform the government of the Yukutsian SSR, a fellow Dienstadi nation, that we are hereby forced to side with the Armed Republic of Salzland.

This blatant disregard for human rights and basic morality cannot go unchecked, and will stand side by side with the Republic of Salzland as friends with whatever route they decide to follow.

Please reconsider your actions. We have no desire for bloodshed, and we doubt that your government does either.

Dear Sirs of Involved Nations,

It has come to light in Chernograd that certain nations continue to force their ideologies upon others, their national agenda is a business that it none of yours. If you wish to go about this diplomatically as your ideology professes then why do you not go and complain to the World Assembly about your concerns, to keep yourself in good tidings with your political spectrum we suggest you all do the following.

  • Rescind all threats of conflict upon the Yukustkian People
  • Upon your resignation from Yukustkian Affairs you should probably send a gift basket to.

Thank You for taking the time to read this message.

Sincerely,
Igor Bubalev

Offical Politburo Announcement on the Current Foreign Interest in Yukutskian Affairs
Image

To whom it may concern;

With recent accusations and demands being made by foreign powers against us in regards to the Abductions Crisis, we hereby wish to state that we are no longer offering comments on the matter and that all demands made by said foreign powers are hereby considered null and void by us, the offical governing body of the Yukutskian government.

Yukutskian Militsiya forces are working their hardest to discover the whereabouts of the abductees, we cannot promise that the abductions will stop immediately but they will eventually as the perpetrators are discovered. In the case of foreign military action, we wish to state that we are prepared to defend this nation against foreign threats in all forms.

OOC: Sorry for the delay, I've been in consultations with various members of Greater Dienstad over the past few days on this matter

To: Open Statement
From: Office of the Minister for Foreign Relations, Salzland
Subject: The Yukutskian Soviet Socialist Republic

To Whom It May Concern,

Having received the official reply of the Yukutskian government, the Armed Republic responds thusly.

We reject the contention that this is an internal matter to be left up to Yukutskian institutions that have, at best, been proven to be criminally incompetent. It is indisputable that there is an ongoing, organized effort in the Yukutskian Soviet Socialist Republic aimed at eliminating not only the sole, organized political opposition to the sitting Yukutskian regime, but also foreign nationals. It is further indisputable that the Yukutskian regime is aware of these crimes, because it has admitted as much. Applying the principle that the simplest explanation is most often the correct explanation, it is logical that the only institution that benefits from these abductions, the Yukutskian regime, is at fault. A regime that deliberately targets its own citizens, or alternatively deliberately fails to protect them from known dangers, is illegitimate and waives the right to exercise exclusive dominion over its citizenry.

We further reject the self-serving argument that some unknown, faceless "organized crime" syndicate is behind these abductions. The claim is so absurd, so blatantly false that it merits no further discussion, because it rests on the utterly irrational premise that a criminal organization would be formed exclusively to identify and target those individuals who have no wealth, no political power, and only share the fact that they are enemies of the Yukutskian state. Even, for argument's sake, if such an organization did exist for the sole purpose of conducting the Yukutskian regime's dirty work, the Yukutskian state is clearly aware of these crimes and, as yet, has not only failed to protect its people but is actively interfering with attempts to halt these crimes. Thus, if the Yukutskian regime is not guilty of conducting these crimes itself, it is clearly serving as an accomplice and remains entirely culpable.

As a result of the Yukutskian regime's refusal to protect its own citizens, and its ongoing obstruction of efforts to bring these crimes to an end, the Armed Republic is taking the following actions:

1. Effective immediately, over one thousand observers and members of the Salzland media will be airlifted to the Yukutskian Soviet Socialist Republic. These observers will be airlifted along with vehicles, food, fuel, communications equipment, and sufficient other supplies to enable them to operate entirely autonomously while within the Yukutskian SSR. These observers will, upon landing, begin surveying and inspecting the Yukutskian SSR, for the purpose of evaluating its internal stability and investigating the disappearances of opposition figures and foreign nationals, entirely free of any interference from any arm of the Yukutskian state, or any other foreign nation. They will be given carte blanche for the subject matter of these investigations. Any attempts to obstruct these investigations will be dealt with harshly, in a time and manner of our chosing.

2. Unless and until otherwise notified by our observers, the Armed Republic is withdrawing diplomatic recognition of the Yukutskian regime.

3. The Armed Republic is presently chartering and will fully fund evacuation flights for any foreign nationals wishing to depart the Yukutskian Soviet Socialist Republic, whether as a result of current tensions, the ongoing "organized crime" problem, or for any other reason.

4. Elements of the Salzland Defense Forces will be deployed to the Greater Dienstad region, for the purpose of holding joint exercises with the armed forces of the Benevolent Dictatorship of Falkasia.

It is unfortunate that the Yukutskian regime, specifically the Siberian Peoples' Union Party and their puppets in the Yukutskian Reformed Communist Party, have chosen to hold onto absolute power rather than caring for the well-being of the Yukutskian people. We remain hopeful that they will see the light of reason, step down, and comply fully with the Armed Republic's demands. If they do not, then we reserve the right to act in a time, place and manner as we best see fit to achieve our goals.

Sincerely,

J. Marcus Davis
Minister for Foreign Relations

Nightengale Flight
Approaching the Yukutskian Soviet Socialist Republic
1,230 Souls On Board

"We are currently en route to the Yukutskian SSR, though the pilots have not informed me of our exact location. However, I've been briefed to expect anything from a warm welcome to a surface to air missile. While the air crew seem calm, most have a parachute handy, just in case. This is Frank Evans, reporting live for Rostgard News, somewhere over the ocean."

With that, the camera was switched off, and Frank left the commandeered cabin that was serving as the aircraft's media room. Two other television reporters were on this flight, along with their crews, and they had all settled on this cabin for their reports to their networks. Dozens of print journalists, bloggers and radio reporters occupied whatever other space they could find on the cramped aircraft, regularly filing reports with their employers. While the passenger aircraft, modified Boeing 747s, would normally hold several hundred individuals comfortably, a significant amount of space had been occupied by various supplies. Anything and everything that they would need had been loaded onto the seven 747s, and the five larger cargo planes carrying a mixture of sedans and SUVs. The expectation was that once they landed, if there was something that they did not have with them then they would not be able to get it.

So along with food, fuel for the vehicles and various medicines, there were crates of batteries, spare parts, satellite uplinks, tablet computers and other necessities. Each member of the expedition had also been injected with a temporary GPS tracker, similar to those used for pets, that allowed their locations to be tracked in the event of an 'incident.' While no one explicitly stated what type of 'incident' was expected that would require the use of the trackers, they had all been briefed on the abductions and precisely who the likely perpatrators were.

It would be a few more hours until they reached the territorial boundaries of the Yukutskian SSR. Once they did, things would likely become very interesting. Perhaps interesting enough to make many question whether the hazardous duty pay they were receiving was actually enough.

57th Brigade, 3rd Armored Division
Embarking
Liel Naval Yard, Liel, Salzland

"Corporal, get those ties locked down! I'd prefer it if your tank didn't end up in the ocean before we get to Dienstad!" called the platoon sergeant for the 1st Platoon, as he and his men worked to secure their M-20A6 'Mackall' main battle tanks on the massive roll-on/roll-off transport that would take them to Greater Dienstad. A fairly large formation had already departed, assembling with numerous escorts in the Great Tear Ocean for the trip to Greater Dienstad. On its face, they would be conducting training exercises with the Falkasians.

However, the senior officers of the units being sent into Dienstad had already been briefed on the true purpose for their deployment. If necessary, they would form part of the first wave of an invasion of the Yukutskian Soviet Socialist Republic. In addition to the forces deploying now, significant quantities of extra equipment were being shipped into Falkasia, ostensibly as spares in case there were malfunctions during the training exercises. In fact, further elements of the Salzland Defense Forces were being prepared to be flown into Falkasia at a moment's notice, where they would be issued the "spare" equipment and used to bolster the first wave forces.

In order to preserve secrecy, careful courses had been plotted to avoid all known satellite coverage. Any satellites that would be able to detect the formations would be temporarily blinded by lasers or other directed energy weapons, or thoroughly jammed, in order to preserve secrecy. Once underway, fighter screens, accompanied by E-2D 'Hawkeye' surveillance aircraft, would take up positions roughly five hundred miles around the formations, providing radar coverage and protection in a 1,000 mile radius circle around the entire formation. Virginia-class submarines would, likewise, take up perimeter positions one hundred miles ahead of the formation.

For the time being, there would be no hostilities. However, every soldier, sailor and airman expected that to change at a moment's notice. Once it did change, all bets were off.

Addressee(s): World
Office of International Affairs,

Regarding: Quigley Doctrine
#8386 International Street, Orbis, Dǎo

Date and Time: 10:32 AM, August 8th, the year 2012.

Wise Akimonadi;

In support of both the Quigley Doctrine and global democracy, the Oceanic Republic proudly supports both Salzland and Akimonad in their quest to free the peoples of the Soviet Socialist Republic of Yukutsk from the tyranny of communism and repression. It is the innate right of every man, woman, and child to live without fear of being abducted. The people should not fear the government. The government, however, should indeed fear the people.

Despite our wholehearted and zealous support of our allies, however, Heirosoloa is hesitant to dedicate an intervention force to a situation so clearly under control of the Salzlandic government. As such, we will continue to monitor the situation closely and, should our assistance be needed, prepare to send trained officials of the Heirosoloan government to assist and supervise the speedy and bloodless transition to a democratic system that will support and protect the people.

Communism is only those in power holding on to the vestiges of an age already passed. It is time for Spring cleaning.

Yakutsk, 'Pskovskaya' Administrative Complex A9, Sakha SSR
10:01 PM YAKT, August

The gray administrative building, unoffically known as the "Pskovskaya Complex", was home to the recieving end of most information collected by the various sources available to the Stragetic Intelligence and Early Warning Bureau. A building filled with computers and stress-plagued officals, something every power on the planet had. Information collected by satellites, counter-intelligence agents, and even reconnaissance runs by military planes would be sent to this building for initial analysis. Yuri Tugay, one of those stress-plagued officals, sat slumped at a glitchy console with his partner, Tihon Rantsev.

"Great, Satellite S19 and S11 are glitching up again. Why didn't those Cosmodrome idoits make sure these things worked before launching them," said Yuri
"You tell me, apparently nationial security wasn't on their 'high priorities' list," replied Tihon
"Anything passing through Dienstad waters is getting through unnoticed today."
"Command will have our asses on silver platters... five rubles and one round on that."

Dalnegorsk, Dalnegorsk Military Aerodrome, Primorsky SSR
12:31 PM VLAT, August

Dalnegorsk, a moderately sized town with one of the six major aerodromes on the Pacific coastline. Equipped with one of the highly-valued 'Voronezh' land-based radar stations on the Pacific coast, a factor with greatly added to its status as a major sector in the Pacific Stragetic Aerospace Defense Zone. Usually, the base experienced an extremely mundane routine as was the normal obligation of times of peace. However, today was different. With tension between foreign powers high and the Stragetic Intelligence and Early Warning Bureau scrambling to recover from high interference, the base was in a scramble-ready state.

All was quiet until 12:31, when the 'Voronezh' began to issue a *bleep* to warn that there was an unregistered aircraft appoarching the coast. A squadron of Su-35's were quickly dispatched to the runway for take off. The confrontation with the incoming aircraft would more than likely spell the first of a war or possibly its avoidance.

17 Miles from Yukutskian Territorial Waters, International Waters
12:54 PM VLAT, Augusts

The squadron of Su-35's dispatched from Dalnegorsk Aerodrome were on a direct intercept course for the inbound planes, their primary goal was to investigate the planes' intention. Premission to fire was granted if the planes were hostile or ignored all warnings issued by the squadron, of which was commanded by Lieutenent Vadim Pirogov. Were the planes of harmless nature, Vadim was to escort the plane on an outbound course that would not violate Yukutskian Boundries.

As Vadim's squadron bagan to close in on the inbound planes, he issued the first warning via radio on all local channels.

"Inbound Unregistered Plane heading directly inbound for Yukutskian Territorial Waters, you are hearby ordered to state your intentions and nationality by order of Yukutskian Soviet Socialist Government. Repeat, you are heading directly toward Yukutskian Territorial Waters. If you contiune on your current course and violate Yukutskian Territorial Waters, my squadron has orders to escort you out of the said waters or shoot you down. Over.

To: Igor Bubalev, General Secretary of Chernograd
From: The Federal Republic of Pennsylvania
Signed By: President Andrew Hundley, Secretary of State Bryan Shaffer, Secretary of Defense William Petraeus, Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Leemay, Speaker of the House Jackson Curtiss, Supreme Justice His Honor William Abrams

The, if I am to be frank, balls of the nation of Chernograd to dictate terms to nations that are clearly their superior is impressive, albeit short sighted. It is the opinion of the Federal Republic of Pennsylvania's government that Chernograd take its own advice, and stay out of Greater Dienstadi Regional Affairs.

Any attempt to enter the region will be met abruptly, and by force. Have a good day.

To: Whom it may concern within the Yukutsian SSR
From: The Federal Republic of Pennsylvania
Signed By: President Andrew Hundley, Secretary of State Bryan Shaffer, Secretary of Defense William Petraeus, Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Leemay, Speaker of the House Jackson Curtiss, Supreme Justice His Honor William Abrams

The response given by the Yukutsian SSR on the matter is wholly insufficient. Evidence continues to indicate that these mass abductions are the work of the government. The number of people disappearing rules this out as a domestic matter, as it is a act capable of being performed only by a highly organized force. The targets of these abductions, plus the sheer numbers leave one suspect: The government itself.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

((I'm going to go out on a limb and assume this is ok with Salz, given the amount of time him and i have spent together here on this site. If it isn't, than i will redact the following section))

The Pennsylvania Aerospace Defense Command (PARAD) was a massive organization, tasked with the surveillance of everything Aircraft related within the region of Greater Dienstad, as well as Air Defense of the Federal Republic.

PARAD had been surveying the flight of Salzlandi aircraft ever since they had arrived on the regions radar screens, with the purpose of making sure that the flight of Reporters made it to their destination safely.

The systems at PARAD headquarters had also been patched into the communications between the various Salzlandi aircraft, aka. Nightengale flight. Without or without the knowledge of the pilots was unknown, but then again that didn't really matter.

As the flight had begun to approach the territorial waters of the Yukutsian SSR, the various Radar operators had become more and more alert. None of them knew how the Yukutsian's would respond, though they all hoped it was peacefully.

The watch commander was taking a special interest in this event, all other area's were peaceful, with little on their screens. He chose to pick up a headset and listen in specifically to the radio chatter of the Salzlandi flight, and not long after putting them on heard this radio burst from a flight of Su-35s nearby to the Salzlandi Flight

Over."

As soon as he heard that over his headset, he motioned to another man in the room

"Tell the Plus fives to get ready, we might have some action coming up soon" before replacing his headsets and listening in further, for any signs of trouble brewing.
