OOC:

Well, alot of this discussion occurs on the IRC and here, although the IRC is better because it's real time and our thoughts and so forth shall come forth quickly, and for those interested, your ideas and suggestions on how we proceed with the protectorate status will be heard.

I'll be able to take a look later on today and dispense my knowledge and wisdom on the matter.

I'm still using the Kindle right now, nd it does't support tabed or multiple window browsing,I can't even access the TLIN forum.
The above post may or may not be serious.

Ah, to let the League players know, the UFA is going to be away for Christmas. Most of us have family duties to attend to, likewise for yourselves. We should be back by wed or thursday of the next week though.

To members of the, The League of Imperial Nations,

The Government of The Royal Kingdom of Alkoul sincerely apologizes for our utter lack of participation in this most unified alliance. We have realized long ago that we were members of too many alliances for all the wrong reasons, and have since slimmed down to what ones we knew were a right for us.
When Alkoul was first accepted into the TLIN we had a population of 500,000 people since then we can say our total population including colonies is closer to 880,000 and now with overseas holdings we promoted some 7,000 specially trained National Police to be part of the re-instated Alkoul Armed Forces (AAF) and the Queens Royal Alkoulian Navy (QRAN). An additional 700 are in the process of being trained for the re-instated Royal Air Force (RAF). Each of the three branches are being re-instated after 73 years of being disbanded.

Concern for all current members of TLIN

Should we end the mentoring program that we have currently in place, instead giving protectorate nations a length of time in which acts like a review period. The council monitors their progress and if it's sufficient, we allow them entry as full members. Monitoring in this case means keeping abreast of the nations role-play, do they actively engage in League business, meetings, conflicts etc, and how it's done etc.

Thoughts and comments on this approach.

It's not that we do not love you as a people, we love how your people taste, how they bleed. It's just that you are not our equals and never will be.

As mentioned in the security council, I believe that while recruiting is essential, we need to figure out what direction the protectorates will be going following Xukuth's suggestion and our own understanding of the current state of such before we make any inductions.

Also, there seems to be some sort of gathering of new players, and while that is appreciated, they do need to get a bit of experience. However, should we be the ones to give that experience so as to benefit NS as a whole or should they suffer somewhere else before coming to us?

I believe that our mentoring program, when kept small, is a huge opportunity not just for the league and recruitment but also for our members-to-be, which ultimately increases the prowess and enjoyment of the TLIN as a whole.

Thanks.
So, for the mentoring program, is it lacking?
And if it is, can it be improved? People have probably asked this before I'm just wondering what would replace it in the event of it's erasure, if anything would.

^I'd like to echo this sentiment.

While I believe a mentoring or assistance program would be, and generally is hugely beneficial to new players; we must recognize that as an alliance the amount of resources that we can dedicate to this task is of course limited.

Thus my position is that new applicants should be bloodied a little in the trenches of NS warfare before coming to us, even for additional training. Not only does this reflect a commitment on the part of the applicant to stay with NS for at least some length of time; but it also means that we simply have to build upon and refine the skills he/she has already learnt, insteadof starting from scratch every time.

OOC: It'll be good to have you back good sir.

@League:

Alright, I can see Terg and Finium's point on this. Both acceptable as well. Unless any other ideas come forward, we'll leave the protectorates as is. Concerning our recent applicants who've been on a sort of stasis, we'll need to sort them out proper as to whom is entering and who isnt.

While generally a lack of posting is a denial, we have let others in without such on the basis that they are returning players and or have been vouched for upon the word of someone amongst us.

OOC: I'll agree with whatever Machina Haruspex, or any of the Triumverates come up with in terms of future plan for the League... :p

After all it has been proven by now that we can stay in NS for quite sometime, in the face of other alliances disintegrating left and right.

This is true, we are not on life support as some are, we are active in our concerns, and still going for two years is a feat in NS. Bravo TLIN, Bravo.

Perhaps it's due to our... er... slower pace. I suppose perhaps there are some advantages to taking our time about, well, everything.
