"Vannois the Last Bastion of True Faith"

Home Secretary blasts secularism movements, warns of 'losses of pious ideal' across nation
CLÉRICOT - Speaking within the gargantuan Cathédrale des Rois in central Cléricot this morning, Home Secretary and top UMP leader Antoine de la Croix seemed to set the tone for the government of Prime Minister Dammartin regarding domestic issues, specifically the never-ending issue in Vannois that is religion. The Home Secretary, a devout Roman Catholic much like the rest of the Empire, said that 'malicious forces have been working within the Empire, with the aim to turn us from the true faith - the faith of the Emperor and his kin, our faiths collected in God' and that such a diversion would only bring harm upon the Empire.
While only a year ago former Prime Minister Astier's government had been calling for full secularization of the Vannoisian Government, and to relative support amongst his core voters, now it is the policy of Dammartin and his Tradition Commission to reinforce 'traditional values' in Vannois, obviously starting with the Roman Catholic faith which has taken a beating outside the confines of the Empire but remains strong within. With more and more leaders opening to the idea of secularization, or even a great conversion to other Catholic faiths within the region, this hard line taken by Dammartin will be well against the curve, though one welcomed by the many devout Catholics that voted for his government and support the strictly Roman Catholic royal family.
He also draws support from the royal family itself, with the Dauphin - who leads the Tradition Commission and admitted some credit for this policy decision as something he had pushed for - speaking in support of de la Croix's announcements in a press release soon after his speech.
"It is the great joy of the Imperial Family to embrace this sort of policy making and action in favor of good and decent Vannoisians across the Empire, who are desperate for the reinforcement of the frail faith where it will always be strongest: Here. Home."
While the Dauphin went on to say that Vannoisians of all faiths "[Are] promised utmost protection and equality under the Imperial Government," he expounded the virtues of the Catholic faith and, in an unsurprising move considering his age and positon, stated that he would personally sign off alongside the Prime Minister and Emperor on any and all legislation passed that involved the reinforcement of the faith.
