The Swedish Navy moved along the northern coastline of Poland, bombarding the coast. After that, They landed 100,000 Swedish troops that were to conquer the country. If all went well, they'd be in Warsaw in two days' time. Then Poland would belong to the Kingdom of Sweden.

Miroslev marched north along with his brethren. The commander of the Balkans under Emir Musharaf had decided all the tiny duchies and unoccupied land above him on the map were just simply too temping not to send some troops after, and Miroslev was part of that massive drive. They had just passed through several villages today alone, and announced the Caliph's new ownership of the region. Though these regions were Christian there had been no active resistance or taunts from the crowds of peasants. The Empire was tolerant of all faiths, and the troops had even been cheered in some villages, though most had simply accepted the change of overlords. A few petty kings had had to die, and hence Miroslev's Roh was now two hundred men down from its intended strength of 1000, but more reinforcements had been promised.

The Ottomans marched north into Poland and the northern Balkans.

The Ottoman forces continued their match north in good order, sweeping aside the local 'lords' who were little better than bandit kings with ease. Miroslev's unit was currently marching through the large town known as Lodz, and bells were ringing at their arrival. The Caliph had always dealt fairly with these traders of the wild North, and Miroslev had it on good authority that Swedish forces were actually BOMBARDING innocent villages along the coast.

The Imperial forces continue their slow march towards Warsaw.

With the coast bombarded, the Swedes had no problem fighting any surviving resistance. The 100,000-strong force starting towards Warsaw, fighting all resistance along the way. They'd be in Warsaw very soon.

OOC: Nope! My forces went to the east of the country, since that was a player nation and I didn't want to attack him without provocation.

"...and as your new governor I declare the entrance of the great city of Warsaw as part of the grand Ottoman Empire!" The military commander finished his speech, and Miroslev and the rest of the men of the glorious 14th cheered heartily. Some civilians cheered too, but most just seemed accepting. As an unallied state they had been under the reign of a harsh king-dictator who had taxed the commerce of the city mercilessly, and the governor had just promised them freedom and autonomy (more or less) under Ottoman rule.

The Ottomans had taken Warsaw after a short bombardment of the local lord's small ramshackle fortress, and now controlled the land below the latitude of the central city. Some divisions were talking about moving out to take more land for the Caliph, but the commander had told them to dig defensive emplacements and be ready to fight.

The Swedish had been said to be advancing towards Warsaw from the north, and the change of ownership of their prize might not dissuade them from attacking. It was all down to the Swedes now.

May I start over? Like, choose another country? And be peaceful towards all other player countries? Please?

As the Swedish forces neared Warsaw, they planned for Polish resistance to be strong (not knowing that the Ottomans have taken the city). They broke into two forces. 50,000 Swedish troops attacked the city from the north. Another 50,000 came around and attacked from the west.
While this was happening, another 30,000 troops were being landed in the coastal Polish city of Gdynia.

"Bloody North-men! They should go back to their cold wastes!" yelled Urla to Miroslev as their squad rushed towards the defenses on the western fringe of Warsaw. Miroslev shouted back a wordless grunt of agreement, and then kept running. Minutes later they entered the earthworks that were the mainstay of the Ottoman fortifications, and quickly made ranks. Bullets whizzed about their heads from the onrushing Swedes, but none of Miroslev's unit were hit; muskets were excessively inaccurate when fired while moving. Behind the Ottoman forces cannon barked, the great Turkish brass artillery spitting huge red-hot balls of destruction at the attacking northlanders.

A cry rang out from up the line, over the trilling battle-calls of the Swedish and the thunder of the Ottoman cannonade. "First rank! Ready- muskets!" screamed the Roh commander. Miroslev slide his ramrod home, embedding the ball and charge in the base of his rifle. "Present- arms!" Together the first row of the Ottoman defense force raised their rifles to shoulder level, aiming at the mass of Swedish infantry marching towards their positions. A few wet smacks were heard as stray Swedish bullets hit men, and some of the rank stumbled. "Give- FIRE!" the carrying order came. He pulled down on the trigger, and a cloud of gun-smoke puffed from his musket, just like all the others. The line was wreathed in smoke, and the Swedish army faced a wall of hot lead.

And then, as Miroslev started to pull out another minnie ball, the cry came again. "Second rank!"...

Above Miroslev's head the forest green banner of the Empire waved defiantly, lit in the smoky gloom by cannon blasts and the occasional ray of sun, its golden emblems flaring with flame.

All around Warsaw the Ottoman defenders, 80,000 strong, stood and fought the attacking Swedes, giving stiff resistance by virtue of entrenchment and superior emplaced artillery.

The Swedes tried to storm the city, and when that didn't work, they regrouped. With 82,000 of the original 100,000 Swedish troops, General Yvette gave the order for surrender. The Swedes moved back to the coast and set up defenses there. The Swedes dug trenches around all the coastal cities and placed cannons for defense. Plus the Swedish navy, the Ottomans would be stupid to attack the coastal cities.

East of Warsaw, Central Poland, Polska Province, Ottoman Empire

Miroslev dug, dug like a mole going after a tasty worm. Around him, as far as the eye could see, more men were digging. He hated the mud, hated the cold, but knew it was for the best.The Swedes had fallen back, but who knew for how long? Thus he and two other Rohs were busy building a line of fortifications around Warsaw and its neighboring towns, to hold off the north men if they came again.

Urla walked over and tossed him a hot biscuit. "Courtesy of the field kitchen cook!" he said. The Slavs tore into their food hungrily, then talked in low voices. "Over seven thousand dead or wounded. The Swedes must have gotten worse, or else they would never have withdrawn." spat Urla. Miroslev nodded. "Good thing command isn't sending us running for the coast eh?" They both thanked God for that and kept making like ditch-diggers.

All along the cities of central Poland, now the province of Polska, the Ottoman forces dug in and re-supplied.

Stockholm, Sweden

The king stared out the window over the city of Stockholm, as his Military Advisor walked in. He turned and asked him, "What is the situation in Poland?"

The advisor replied to the king, "We have the Northern coastline, but General Yvette does not want to advance further south, as the Ottomans are down there!"

The king stared at his advisor, "The Ottomans? The trash, how dare they try to claim Poland?"

His advisor stared back at him, "Sir, your Majesty, we cannot afford a war with the Ottomans right now! Didn't you want to take Iceland? We can sail to Iceland, Sir!"

The king shouted, "Iceland can wait! Can we hold the coastline?"

His Advisor looked at him, "Yes Sir, yes."

The king smiled, then looked back out the window, "then the coastline we shall hold. Send another group of reinforcements!"

The advisor frowned, "Sir, we have enough there, we have 107,000 troops on the coastline!"

The King smiled, "well, I demand you send 93,000 more! Poland will be ours, you shall see!"

East of Warsaw, Central Poland, Polska Province, Ottoman Empire
Miroslev Irimal, 32rd Squad 14th Roh, 2nd Arazif

The men of the 32rd Squad lounged on top of the fortifications they were building, taking a moments break from hauling the large stones for the defenses. Most smoked vigorously, though a few preferred to engage in a game of chess made from hand-carved pieces that Miroslaw had brought with him all the way from their jumping off point in the "Dash North" as some had taken to calling it. Off into the distance other men of the glorious 14th were busy hauling in stones for the engineers to make into a line of forts that the brass had dubbed the "Polska Rampant Line".

It didn't look like much of a line right now- more like a lot of trenches and a few stone emplacements for the 14th's attached artillery units-but it was something. If the stone and mud stopped the Swede's bullets then Miroslev was quite fine with it all told. A distant movement caught his eye, and he thought he saw a huge horde of men limbering a massive cannon up the road from the south far to the west, but he couldn't be sure. At that moment the chess players decided to have a squabble about whether or not the weird French rules of "en passante" applied and broke out into a lot of arguing in Serb and Arabic.

The Ottoman forces continue to fortify their holdings along the limit of their advances to date.

General Porty marches to Poland to help General Yvette.

With now 200,000 Swedish troops, General Yvette can only wonder if they should go ahead and attack the Ottomans or hope for the French to attack from the other side.

Fortifications were being built along the coastal towns and the surrounding area. Entrenchments, artillery, and stone forts were all being constructed. The Swedish Navy also was on the watch, if the Ottomans attacked, the navy would hold them off long enough for land defenses to be prepared. General Yvette honestly hoped that the Ottomans would attack the Swedes, so that the enemy would lose men. If he could get the enemy weaker, then he could attack easily.

Mlawa, Poland, Ottoman Conquests
Abdul ibn Kelmat, 78th Squad, 37th Roh, 2nd Arazif

The line of Ottoman infantry stalked up the road, and soon they entered the minor city that the locals called Mlawa. As soon as the villagers saw the soldiers many ran indoors and closed their shutters; the Poles were now aware of the massive military forces set to their north and south and the destruction their clashes could bring. The inhabitants of Warsaw were still burying their dead from the Swede's assault.

Abdul didn't particularly mind that development. Information was sketchy amongst the men about the exact positions of the Northerners' forces, though scuttlebutt was that the cowards were holed up along the coast where the guns of their ships could stiffen the soldiers' rubber spines. Since such was the case, the Emir had ordered a cautious advance towards the coast along the northern front, while 60000 men stayed behind to fortify the cities and extend the defensive networks. The squad's orders were to advance until they met resistance.

Marcus Illius, 11th Arazif Commander

Marcus Illius smiled gregariouslu as his troops marched in picture perfect lockstep into the city. He had brought another 80,000 men and some special suprises to reinforce the defenders of the Polska Rampant Line, under orders from the Caliph. The Swedes dared to defy the will of the Empire did they? The 11th would contest that defiance.

General Yvette had 200,000 men stationed at the coast, with promise of another 75,000 to come. This shocked the general, as this meant the king must want Poland badly. By now the king planned to have Poland and to be attacking Iceland, but it seems that will be delayed. With the reinforcements coming, the general decided to send a small force of 80,000 south to the Polish town of Grudziadz, demanding that they take the city and defend it. If the Ottomans attack, then warning can be sent to the coast to prepare for defense.

General Yvette really hoped that the French were coming, he hadn't heard from General Porty since his leaving from Copenhagen. He wondered what the French were doing, he knew that Sweden, France, and Naples had a triple alliance going, but nothing more. The general also hasn't heard the latest about the situation with the Greeks, do they even still need help? This was the simple plan: Take Poland then rush down and help the Greeks. Is that even still valid?

General Yvette walks into a Polish school that the Swedes converted into the headquarters for the battle against the Ottomans. He silently cursed the king for not keeping him updated.

Marcus barely concealed a sigh of relief as the Swedish commander signed the Warsaw Accords. Full-scale war had been looming, but thankfully cooler head prevailed. With the scratch of pen on paper Poland had been partitioned, and the onrushing slaughter of thousands avoided.

As soon as the papers were signed, 150,000 Swedish troops left Poland along with half the navy. They relocated to Copenhagen, Denmark, where further plans of the Swedish invasion of Iceland would be thought up. The remaining 50,000 Swedes and navy would remain at the Swedish land in Poland in the case that anyone should attack.


Sweden immediately sent word to Paris to call off any attack on the Ottomans. Stating that Poland has been split between the Swedish and the Ottomans
