I'm assuming shielding technology is either nonexistent/very primitive and mostly replaced by defensive missiles or some sort of space-based SAM system?

Because both are quite hard.

Assuming his red matter works similar to the Trekverse red matter, even popping them off in-flight via active counters would be bad news for all involved.

Well that would be a slight problem then...I'm sure he can moderate himself though. My basic point was to open the discussion up to other themes which are quite prominent in sci-fi, but are not actually very feasible at all (such as shielding).

Just a reminder and at the same time making me rethink what I just made Dolmpolp do, their sending of 30 million warships is like another nation sending half their nation.

Which is making me reconsider what the heck I just made Dolmpolp do...

Seeing as FTL itself is pretty damned soft sci-fi, I don't see a problem with some form of energy shields in all three timelines. After all, there are some effects now that mimic a basic form of shielding; and you have things like the magnetically-suspended cold plasma cloud being proposed as navigational deflectors for interplanetary voyages.

Now that's good news.

Although... Dolmpolp is built off war and profit as the goals, so their whole nation is based off war. Still, we can apply a tactic similar to asymmectrical warfare and once they realize that it would not be profitable to attack the Dolmholdi collective, they may stop.

Well, the original battle was no where near my core worlds, so as you went off to protect those, I've pulled off an excuse and said that the main fleet was headed that way...

And yes, good ole cannons.

I'll have to edit in many other things in, such as the ball and whatnot. Please wait...

In that post:

The edge system battle has taken a turn as the Corporate fleet begins to turn their guns onto the Terran Collective, with their steam-based antimatter-matter energy kind of main cannon, firing many tens of millions of iron disks at relavistic speeds at the Terran fleet.

And the battle for the first core system is about to begin.

Expect this to be another minor war though, unless we want to pursue and continue to fight the Corporate fleet if/when they decide to simply issue a stalemate, declare it unprofitable and leave.

ok i understand that part, what kind of damage did the UEFP Grand Fleet inflict on there ships? as i only sent like 1,000 Neo Class ships to your core planets and protect those. The rest of my fleet attacked there ships.

Perhaps on your progress into the other galaxies, strife with the republic, or etc.

A military standoff with the Xindi empire in the republic would be interesting.

Yay! I wonder if the tests of the new mechas work, if others in the DTO would like to trade for them or whatever. Also speaking of which when will the DTO IC thread start?

Ummm... what would that thread be about? General alliance discussion?

basially we rp our nations into a meeting of selected members for instance Me, you, Great Nepal, Trinitia if she/he wants, and anyone else who wants to join. Then the selected members will each set out basic parameters on how the DTO will be and each of us votes on each of the parameters they want for the DTO alliance and then are nations sign it and bam Delta Treaty Organization.

Edit: Or a general alliance discussion, whatever you prefer.

Plasma-based shielding don't protect from radiation, lasers, or high-velocity objects. At the same time, they have to be installed in a manner in which a piece of the hull is vulnerable (they're like window panes- the glass is the plasma and the sides, which are open to attack, determine the shape of the window). You can't just have a ship being nestled within a bubble of plasma.

As long as we're talking about possibilities, one could use a large enough particle accelerator to create a black hole.
