Some don't nuke out like in the game, like TFC model (they still explode, taking a few city blocks with them if that happen) while most Sythyn Commanders will explode in a relatively small area if taken out, say a small city size area. If I was having my Commander bombed from orbit, obviously I'm doing it seriously wrong so that chance will be small to occur. Zee Sythyn space fleets will zoom around in orbit to prevent that, or don't send any Commanders at all, just hanging in orbit. 8)

Self destruct mode is another story, that's the nuke out option when Sythyn abandon all hope to survive in the current engagement.

The problem I have with any self-destruction force is the possibility that they might go off in the middle of a formation rather than at the frontlines.

What is this 'Code Protocol 45#291' you speak of? It seems intriguing. :)

Well, that's why you have fail-safes to prevent that. In the case of a nuclear warhead, keep the plutonium and trigger charge separate until armed. Then if it goes up, worst case you have a dirty bomb, which troops in any sort of PA should be able to laugh off. I mean, modern nukes have similar safeties. If its not armed, its not going off no matter what you do to it.

Splinter faction of the Sythyn race headed by Commander 45#291, made it that way so I can have multiple splinter faction of Sythyn that will develop varying amount of progresses as they interact with different races in different galaxies. :)

What would the interaction be exactly, and where? Are you planning a new thread?

I'm not sure myself, next week will be very hectic for me so I'll speed draft a new intro regarding Code Protocol 45#291 in the next weekend (or next coming Thursday). Anywhere really, as Sythyn can be quite nomadic as they move in search of resources and energy sources. Preferably the first contact thread will not involve a major war given their low count but I will give a thought on it, or when someone else have a better idea. The race isn't suited to diplomacy (including the 45#291 splinter faction) given they were a remnant of a galactic war that nearly wiped them out but that can always change! :)

So the Synthyn are a Cybranesque Faction remnants or just simply taking small reference points and ideas from SC?

They're not cybran-esque in terms of themselves as I built them as a robotic race with a synthetic sentience made by CORE Central Consciousness (amalgamation of billions and billions of patterned Human minds grafted to a super computer) as to fit them with Total Annihilation lore. Sythyn is more related to Total Annihilation game regarding themselves while mirroring SC in terms of units, so I'd say it's the mix of both franchises.

Interesting..

How our two nations will interact will be interesting, we seem to be one of the few robotic nations that still has a rather cynical outlook on everything while maintaining controversial policies and in general, very mean.

I'd imagine it so, Code Protocol 45#291 do not have any other directive than to simply survive. They don't really have any policies than "if it's dangerous, kill it or run." :D

Will see regarding the thread thing in a not so far next week!

A new thread. In essence, the Dominion Draussenbootes of the Dominion Raumflotte are engaging in a series of escalating raids to attempt to prop up the struggling economy.

Sounds cool. I'll be posting tonight. Kreanolthan merchant ships are a bit like East India Company merchant ships IRL. They try to balance space lost to cargo with security lost due to lack of weapons. Expect massive variances in strength across all Kreanolthan merchant ships.

forgot to add in the app, Sythyn do have one superweapon-ish thingy. Mass Tachyon Accelerator Platform that hurls tachyonic mass at its target(s) in FTL speeds so it's mostly used to defend a system from hostile incursions. The orbital weapon however have a limited sensor range (contrary of its system-wide weapon range) so it's relying on other Sythyn space assets to mark up targets for the weapon to fire on! The platform takes considerable resources to build so if one is spotted in a system, it means that the system is very much an entrenched Sythyn-controlled system.
